DIY Bed Frame (I can't believe I made this!) | Home Made Happy - Ep. 7

  • Heya friends! I made a DIY Upholstered Bed Frame and at last... I've gotten my bed off the ground (well, kind of - technically it's on a box spring, which is on the ground 😉). Regardless, I made a diy bed frame that looks so luxe and was initially inspired by a ridiculously expensive platform bed from Rove Concept (we're talking over $2.5k for this bed frame). I'm really excited for this DIY bed design for a couple reasons, but to name a few... 1) I now have my bed off the ground, 2) I learned how to do pocket holes... and it isn't as hard as I thought!, and 3) the new bed frame really elevates the space and turned out as good as I imagined! So happy with this one you guys and I hope you enjoy this week's episode of Home Made Happy! Up next: I think I'll make a diy headboard to go with it :).
    PRODUCTS MENTIONED IN THIS VIDEO:
    - 2x12x12 (I needed 2 and got all 4 pieces cut from it at Home Depot) The cuts for a queen size mattress/ box spring were 2x80.5" long and 2x64" long, which was basically an exact cut out of the 2x12x12's (technically it came in just slightly under 64", but worked perfectly)
    - pocket hole jigg: amzn.to/37c08Jd
    - queen mattress topper (2 packs required): rstyle.me/+WSv...
    - cotton canvas fabric: locally sourced
    - plastic amber soap / shampoo dispenser: amzn.to/3uYNPYy
    - Cricut Machine: shrsl.com/371sj

What a difference it makes!! Brings the whole room together 😍 One thing I’d really like to see, as someone who does DIY projects, is projected costs and final costs. That helps me figure out if it’s something I can afford to try!

One of the best things about your DIYs is that you make them happen in an apartment!!!! Makes me feel like I can do all the DIYs in my own apt♡ Thank you for making accessible projects that aren't just gluing a bowl to a cup (which I've totally done)💕

This came out beautifully and really helps bring the room together! If anybody's planning on making something similar and has the same problem with finding flat foam, adding two or three layers of batting on top of the foam will smooth everything out

I love it. It's so beautiful. You have inspired me again. I also have adhd in the same way as you. But I am so so very artistic like you. I just didn't have ppl. in my life giving me that vote of confidence I so very much needed growing up and somehow your words have made me realize I didn't have that or that proud parents I believe in you. You can do anything you put your mind to type of growing-up encouragement and I think you just help me realise that and helped heal a small part of me that needed healing. Everything happens for a reason they say. Think I found your channel at the right time in my life and that I would heal from it at the right time. I don't need that from them now and even rho as a kid growing up it would have changed a lot about me. I do t think id learn as much about myself if I didn't have the journey I did. Thank you, girl. You rock ❤️

Beautiful job, it's amazing when a person puts their mind heart and soul into something they are able to do almost the impossible. What I mean is that you never had experience on it and you have been able to do it. Very inspirational. Good job. Just a suggestion, if later on you get tired of the frame to be on the floor, all you have to do is put 2x2 or 4x2 wood planks across and bed risers to lift the bed.

Quick little tip - to connect the sides you could use the corner brackets for bed frames, which would make it just easier later if you want to disassemble the bed.

I like the design. But I do have an option for you for that bed frame. Get some 2x3's and drill them to every side of the frame about half way up on all around. That will raise the mattress up 6 inches and keeps the box mattress from scratching the floor

I was wondering if you were going to wrap each side individually and then assemble, or make the box and wrap the whole thing around the outside so the corners would not have a seam... But the way you did it definitely makes it easier to un-assemble it if you move! Great job!
IF you feel comfortable sharing, I would love to know how much each project costs you in supplies, especially comparing it to what purchasing something premade would be? I know not everyone likes discussing money.

Just a tip if someone decides to do this I would first get materials fabric and foam. Once you cut the foam then use fabric spray glue so that you only have to staple once instead of 2 layers like she did here....💙 Beautifully imperfect human being remember you live and you learn sometimes it will not work the way you set to being with, but show yourself some love.

Just a hint. For a off white fabric look you can buy drop cloth from walmart or Home Depot for about $10. If you want it white you can bleach it first. Ive used them for curtains just clipping on hooks. Just a idea.
