About a year ago when I was looking for a desert eagle 1911 to replace a Remington R1 stainless that I regretfully traded in, I looked at the colt competition in stainless but it was $2400, they also has the marine model for $1900. I could not justify spending that much money. The next day I ran across a springfield range officer target 45 acp which I purchased, very nice 1911. Since then I have purchased two desert eagles both 45 acp, a 5” stainless and 3”, they were my holy grail 1911’s. There was a well used colt officer model I saw yesterday but could not bring myself to spend $900 with that much wear. .
Just buy the colt and stop complaining. I like the deserts eagle 🦅 and other 1911 Not Springfield or kimber though But there’s nothing like a colt 1911. And you don’t have to worry about it losing value as quickly
Very simple process to do that overall matt finish. I use fine grit glass beads in my sandblaster. Complete disassembly, remove all the oils, mask the parts you don't want to finish and spray away. I normally do high polish finishes but there are areas as you pointed out that benefit from a non reflective finish.
Worse thing you can do to a 1911 is slam the slide closed without a round in the chamber and make sure you keep it well lubed. You have a nice 1911 there I have always been a Colt fan, if you like that 1911 in 9mm you'll love the Wilson Combat 1911 in 9mm. I am surprised you don't reload. Nice shooting by the way.
That’s why you can get away with just “8” round magazines, put them down every time. All these new “17” round models you need all the rounds to hit them 😝. 1911 all day, got them in 9, 10 & 45, government, compact, Officer and sub-compact, wouldn’t leave home without one. 🤙🏼❤️🇺🇸🤠
Own one in 45 Mine came with two colt stamped mags. Few hiccups early on But runs smooth now Changed the grips to Wilson combat Xs big dot sights One of my favorite pistols. Definitely passing it to my son in about 30 yrs
Last month I made a birthday impulse buy on a 5" SA Ronin in 9mm, and i whole-heartedly agree that 9mm is one of the most enjoyable calibers to shoot in the platform. It makes me wish my other favorite 1911 caliber (.38 super) was more common, maybe someday.
@@josevillarino3649 No, not advised. The extractor will work but it has to do with the chambering that's not compatible. People have conversion kits to do this, barrels etc.
I've got a 9mm 1911A1 and a 9mm/22tcm 1911A2. Once you are used to a .45 any 9mm 1911 feels like cheating. Outside diameter of the barrel is the same as a .45 but the inside is only reamed out to 9mm. That makes for a gun that looks like a carry piece on the outside but performs like a target pistol with weights screwed to the dust cover. Front sight tips up but there's no flipping at all like a .45. No real recoil so you can get away with thin grips and bushings and carry it comfortably.
You might consider a 22 Lr for economical practice and I agree about 2 mags especially today it’s hard to find some mags I normally want 5 to 6 mags for my pistols and I have a couple of my pistols by S&W I can’t find I always have been able to shoot my Colt 1911’s better than anything else, does this come i a Commander size?
While 1911s in 9mm seems to be the rave now … sorry can’t do it . If it’s a 1911, .45 .. 10mm or .38 Super . If I’m going to carry a 9mm it’s going to be a Browning Hi Power or one of the newer clones . I’ve got the new Springfield Armory SA35. Good shooting , awesome looking gun
I would really really like one of those! lol, and in 9mm cause thats what i have the most of and cheapest really to shoot with! 45 or 10mm would be cool down the road for me but i already have 4 calibers to buy and have ammo for already! love it

I have a Colt .45 Gov't Model and a Springfield "Loaded" stainless 9mm 1911 I bought 10 years ago. The 9mm is about 1/2 price to shoot.

Very little felt recoil, typical crisp 1911 trigger, very accurate match grade barrel. Nice acquisition. 🔥👍💪🇺🇸
Thank you sir.
All my new Colts came with two mags. I wouldn't surprise if someone had pilfered one of the mags before you bought it.
Love it! I have a Colt standard government 70 series in 45 auto and it’s the most reliable 1911 I have. I need to pick up a 9mm version soon.
Very nice… but hey it’s a 1911 best trigger in town. You’re right you should get more than one mag for that price.
at least 2
