Make it harder: Start from the first day. The field snack is techinecally a dish and thus you may it to make cash. And also rummaging through the rubish nets some dishes.
Yeah this is what I thought as well. He could have just searched trash to find cooked dishes to sell. Would take wayyyyy longer but it's possible
Ultimate hard mode: only use the cookout kit to make money until you have the house upgrade.
Not to mention lynus loves everything sooo
could also use quests from in front of Pierre's to make cash for the kitchen upgrade.
I think the only issue with this idea(field snack not the other one) is that the challenge is called the master chef challenge, which likely meant the gourmet chef achievement. I would imagine following that train of thought would restrict you to making food that would advance this achievement, so unless he spent like 7 in game years rummaging through bins, an exception was bound to be made

also, I saw a mod on nexus that allows you to interact with the town folks with the mailbox. (including sending gift, complete quest, and upgrade your tools).
I think using this mood and set a certain goals would be interesting.

I instantly clicked on this video because I love see people suffering. If you did a video on not leaving your farm, you're best bet would be to use the beach farm I would imagine.
Maybe the forest farm because it has those fibres that always drop mixed seeds so that would be a reliable way to get seeds

so did you forget the cookout kit? its a recipe you get at foraging lvl 9 that allows you to craft a temporary place to cook without needing to upgrade your house.
It’s probably easier just to get the house upgrade because it can take a really long time to get to Foraging Level 9.
Wow, I had no idea this was a thing! Either way I think it would have taken longer to get to foraging level 9, but that's good to know!

also the cookout kit is a reward for one remixed bundle if thats preferred

@@ThermChannel yeah foraging skill actually got me stuck almost all of my skills are at 10-9 but my foraging skills still at 8 considering i cut a lot of trees and mahogany 😑. Sooooo yeah foraging skill is hard to level up.

Excellent challenge! When you get to 3 hearts with Emily she gives you the recipe for salad which consists of dandelions, leeks and vinegar. The vinegar is pricy but it's a good way to utilize all the forage you've kept.
But it is 200g to buy vinegar and 110g for selling the salad.

It feels so odd that we cannot prepare vinegar in the farm.
i mean TECNICALLY you can get bread and various dishes from the stardrop saloons trash cans so i mean its not impossible without selling non cooked items at the beginning!

It is possible to sell exclusively cooked dishes from the start, without a house upgrade.
Trash cans drop things like bread and cookies, shadow brutes can drop strange buns. You can also farm for lvl 9 foraging and craft a cookout kit, or try to complete the Wild Medicine Remixed bundle for 2 cookout kits as a reward.

I think there needs to be a petition to make Therm to be nice to Elliot for 1 whole video. I know it will be hard but I think he can do it

Crab pots are a great way of getting sashimi especially at level 10 fishing when you don’t get junk in them!

You could’ve placed crab pots over the town and ginger island and have the fishing perk where crab pots produce without bait. You could then go collect the snails and lobsters from the crab pot, turn it to sashimi and make tons of money.

You inspired me to have a go at this, but I decided to make it even harder and not ship (or sell to shops) anything other than recipes that can be made in the kitchen. I'm relying on using the campfire (via remixed community centre bundles or reaching foraging level 9) or getting enough money from quests, help requests and shipping any food I find in trash cans, get as community centre rewards or receiving in the mail to upgrade the farmhouse.
I've just finished Spring year 1 and have made it to foraging level 6 and 4860g (with the sashimi recipe unlocked and plenty of fish to turn into sashimi when I have access to a campfire or a kitchen). It's been a slow start but an interesting challenge! I've decided the challenge will be over when I've managed to unlock, cook and sell every single recipe in the game without ever making money from anything apart from quests and cooking. Ideally I'd like to finish by the end of year 2 but it could be tricky to get the ginger island stuff done in time.

Hey, I decided to do this without the added caveat that I may sell whatever to purchase a kitchen first, and I’ve discovered that 1. You’re going to spend most if not the whole first year getting to foraging level 9 to get a cookout kit and 2. If you do choose to do that, your main prerogative on the first day of every season should be looking for one of each of that season’s foragables and putting it into the community center for an instant 30 of the season specific mixed seeds, which grant foraging exp instead of farming exp when you harvest them.

I really like the idea of this challenge! The only stardew challenge I have ever done is only selling flowers and honey and honestly I love those kinda challenges because you end up with a horde of everything you cant sell.
The flower challenge I dont think is too hard in the grand scheme of things becauae I was allowed to sell forgable ones and do quests.

You forgot about trash cans! It’s small, but they sometimes have cooked items that you could freely sell for a little extra gold.

You should make a mining guide, I'm really bad at it.
Mining guide? hope these can help u. upgrade ur pickaxe to iridium pickaxe, if u already have access to Ginger island, forge it to "Efficient" level on the top of the volcano so it would never consumes your energy when breaking rocks.. if u find it hard to kill Mummies, forge your Galaxy Sword to level "crusader". go mining only on lucky day (u can check about Luck on stardew valley wiki) bcz when u go mining in a bad luck day, it would be hard to find staircase or hole to jump in and there are more rocks than nodes. Use your ring like Iridium band and slime ring would be useful to prevent damage from slime (u can combine any ring by forge it), bring miner food like spicy eel, banana pudding, magic candy, purple mushroom, magma cap and triple shoot espresso to boost ur speed, energy, luck, and defense, me myself always bring the spicy eel, espresso, purple mushroom or magma cap... If u have many Jade stored, u can trade it with staircase to the dessert trader shop on Sunday, but if u dont have many, just craft Crystalarium and put Jade in it to replicate it, Spicy eel can also be traded with Ruby.. also make sure u found all the stardrop so your energy is enough to fight and mining all day...

I agree with other comments, it’s definitely possible to start from day one.
You can get cooked dishes from the trash, you could maybe count field snacks, you could get the cookout station at foraging level 9, and personally I don’t think gathering quests count as selling goods since you get to keep the items.
I wouldn’t mind seeing a longer run if it means sticking closer to the challenge.
I could feel your pain when trying to figure out where to place the coop and when you ran back to kill the tree for the silo.
