@@Alycanj just liberal idiots left in this world.now.....and they definitely aren't cool or beautiful people like we were in the swinging 60's(this song is from 1967...the Summer of Love!)
The lead singer, Justin Hayward, wrote this when he was 19. He is 77 and still on tour! I will see him live again in June! His voice is still as beautiful and compelling as EVER!! And your reaction to Rays flute is so charming!! Thank you!!
I was actually blown away, i never saw old Moody Blues, only heard the originals growing up , he took care of his voice. This might be one of the best live performances that sound like the original
Every member of the Moody Blues was so talented and could play multiple instruments. Studio albums they didn't need a backup orchestra, they could produce an orchestra themselves.
"Nights In White Satin" is their most famous song. Moody Blues are one of my favorite groups from the 60's-80's. Love their mix of rock with classical music. Lots of great songs such as "Go Now", "Tuesday Afternoon", "The Story In Your Eyes", "Question", "Ride My See-Saw", "I'm Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band)", "Gemini Dream", "The Voice" etc. All of their music is great! Many of their records are concept albums & meant to be listened to all at once. Sadly Ray Thomas their flute player & singer passed away in 2018 & their drummer Graeme Edge passed away in 2021.
Wow, Biss, Moody Blues, you've really gone back to a classic from my pre-teen yrs. There's nothing like the 60s/70s. His voice is still 90% of what it was. Beautiful incl. the flute, haunting. Super pick, 😊
The main force in the group behind the rich orchestral and cosmic texture in their music within the seven core albums, was Mike Pinder, co-founder of the band, keyboard player and songwriter (who left the band in the late 70s, way before this concert) just passed away a week ago. Mike's transcendent soul and creativity was the life-force behind the Moody Blues. He's up there with the great classical composers. RIP on your journey, Mike!
A beautiful Pure tone voice unimpaired by any hoarseness, nasality, or change in transition to and from falsetto which sounds just as clear and pure as his main range. Gives me goose bumps.
Mike Pinder the founder of the group and keyboard player just passed a couple of days ago. He was the one who came up with these arrangements. Once they did this they found their sound and created a whole genre.
Everyone has their opinion about which is the best version of this song and whether it's a live version or a studio version, I like them all, but this for me is the very best of the best. It's a mature sound and along with the amazing orchestra brings out the fullness of the piece. This song is from my youth, I'm 70 years old, so I've listened to it many, many times over the years and also though I've heard many other songs from these guys, this is by far my favorite and also my favorite performance. Thank you for your reaction young lady!
Love it, love you, love the Moodies, Been listening since the beginnings ('64). I'm 76 years young and have worn out every obe of their albums. You must dig deeper. Keep it up !!
Justin Hayward has been my favorite from my teens. I still get chills every time. I am 71 in Los Angeles and saw the moody blues many times. How could anyone not love this song
The Moody Blues created music that are "trippy" and that you don't have to get "high" to appreciate or "groove" into it. Its one of those music that I listen to when I feel "moody" and it just relaxes me and as mentioned my mind goes "tripping" to it. Great band.
BEAUTIFUL 😍 I HAVE KNOWN THIS MOODY BLUES GROUP SINCE I WAS IN MY TEENS WAY BACK THEN. I WAS DATING A FELLOW I ALMOST MARRIED. I HAD THE ALBUM...NOW I HAVE THE CD. I STILL LISTEN TO THE WHOLE MUSIC DISC. ABSOLUTELY 💯 BEAUTIFUL MUSIC. THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS.😊
I've been listening to this song since 1972. It never gets old. My favorite album of theirs is "Days of Future Past". It is a whole operetta. Glad you enjoyed them. His voice is as strong and true as it was in the 70s. Good reaction.
I saw the Moody Blues perform live a couple of times in the early 70's and once in 1983. I don't know about when this performance occurred, but it sounds exactly the way I remember them. Their music is timeless!
Arguably, the album this song came from, Days of Future Past, is considered the first Progressive Rock "concept" album in history. It was built around a classical symphony and in-total goes through a day in one's life, song by song. Your reaction and review was of the last song on the album, which has become the quintessential Moody Blues song. It was written by Justin Hayward, the lead singer, for his girlfriend, after a lengthy separation. He gave it to her, together with a set of white satin sheets, at their reunion. I loved your reaction.
I first heard the Moodies in 1968. I was blown away, as I was by the group Chicago and Blood, Sweat and Tears. The orchestral sound, the horns. WOW! I did a hitch in the USMC, and had myself together in 1973, upon my discharge. Saw the Moodies in 1974. Saw them again in 1977 and 1980. All the concerts were, as you noticed, heralded by the audience being silent as they performed. It was magical. Still is. Music such as they made will never grow tired or get old. Neither will it ever be composed to their level again. I am so pleased to have grown in an era which had such marvelous musicians. Thank you for your review.
4:54 Apologies if you've already done it but if you love the Flute then Jethro Tull is a must, the pinnacle! There was no such thing as Folk Rock until Ian Anderson decided there should be! Almost on a whim he became one of the world's greatest flautists. Their live performances are amazing! A bunch of amazing musicians just having a great time! I challenge anybody to hold back a smile whilst watching them.
Ahhhh, Biscuite. I loved the serene look on your face, interspersed with great big smiles, throughout this performance😊☺️ I don’t think I’ve ever seen you look so settled and peaceful during a music reaction. It Suits You!! I am an old Aussie bloke and this song takes me B-A-C-K………..though this version I love better than earlier versions. Thank you for reviewing this masterpiece. Cheers from the Land Down Under…….❤️🤩🙏🌟🌹😍💐😘
Hello Bisscute. I see with pleasant surprise that you reacted to other old acquaintances, none other than Moody Blus. I love every time you make a reaction to these old bands, because when they were at their peak, obviously there was no internet, there was no social networks, there was no YouTobe, etc., that is, they did not have the opportunity to spread their music more massively, their art and their talent, as happens today, that is why I am especially happy when someone as young and sensitive as you, appreciates and spreads what these great bands and artists did to the current generations. The one you chose to react to Moody Blues is an excellent song: Nights in White Satinde, from 1967, if I'm not mistaken, it already has its yesterdays, but it does not lose its validity, it continues to tell us many things and continues to move us, as you yourself experienced. I recommend other songs from them such as: The story in your eyes, Ride my see-saw, Tuesday afernoon, among others. Greetings and a hug from Mexico City.
When I was 4 years old and my sisters were 12 and 14 years old I remembered the look in their eyes when this song would play and so I bought live concert tickets for myself and my sister who could go (the older one) for this band. It was worth it. She was so happy to see them live.
Anything more? "I know you're out there somewhere" and "Your Wildest Dreams." The one you just listened to was written after my sisters were born and before I was born. These two came out when I was young and I absolutely loved these two.
More flute "The Locomotive Breath" by Jethro Tull & this is a story you must hear at least once as you love songs with story & this one will blow your mind.
Justin did this to us in the 60s. These Moody Blues augmentations were totally unexpected from a rock band. I believe this song even had a monolog in the after song orchestration. This additional effort gave people a greater appreciation for the entire work and not just the edited 3 minute AM monaural pop radio version. FM stations without the same restrictions played the longer album cuts. This elevated the listening experience led to a boost in sales of stereo systems. The long play versions were enjoyed in millions of homes. I would guess that Justin was still at 80 plus percent of his peak when this concert was recorded. We were all surprised when the Moody Blues started releasing new music in the mid-80s. It was as though they had never left. e.g. YOUR WILDEST DREAMS, and it's sequel. I KNOW YOU'RE OUT THERE SOMEWHERE.
If you like the flute you may like Jethro Tull. They have plenty of flute music. They are/were a progressive rock band. Their best album, IMO, is Thick as a Brick. It was done tongue-in-cheek but is so good.
Thick as a Brick is quite good, but my personal favorite, probably because I grew up on it, is the album Aqualung. It's another concept abum and is about religion and society. Regardless, if you like flute, you have to give Jethro Tull a listen.
Thanx for this reaction. The Moody Blues brings me bcak to my youth. The made so much beautiful songs. And Justin has a great voice. This song is still one of their greatest. I remember they used the Moog synthesizer in that days. great compositions.
His voice hasn’t changed a bit since he released this song in 1967! Definitely one beautiful song! 🎵 most of his band mates are passed on now, from his original band. It’s like listening to a movie 🎥
I first became really aware of The Moody Blues in 1971 at a party when somebody put the album "To our Children's Children's Children" on the turntable. I was hooked. They were a hugely important and influential band back in the day and this is a wonderful rendition of a classic.
One of the best songs ever. The biggest problem for Justin Hayward, having written it so young, was to try and better it! An impossible task.... I've seen the Moody Blues perform it live - the whole audience was in tears.
this album is a must to be listened to end to end. it is their first of 7 concept albums in a row. they have 16 total studio albums. any of the 8 or so solo albums by the singer will give you a good idea of how his voice was one of the most recognizable male voices back ion the day
I am an old codger and have been a fan of the Moody Blues since their hit with a cover of the Motown classic Go Now. At that time, Denny Laine was the lead singer, and Clint Warwick was the bassist. Justin Hayward replaced Denny Laine as lead singer, and John Lodge replaced Clint Warwick as bassist in 1966, and the music of the band changed from a Blues inspired format to an orchestral, psychedelic form. This song is from the album Days Of Future Passed, which was released in 1967. The album is a concept album and is a day as well as a life of a normal person. The album was recorded with Peter Knight and the London Symphony Orchestra. The Moody Blues were the first rock band to record with a symphony orchestra and also the first band to incorporate a Mellatron. The Mellatron was an instrument that could record sounds on a loop and play them back, enabling the band to have the sound of an orchestra on stage with them as well as other sounds. Mike Pinder was the keyboardist and played the Mellatron and recently passed away at age 82. I was fortunate enough to see the band live many times between 1972 and 1978. I saw them several times performing with symphony orchestras, which was always a special treat. I lost interest after they replaced Mike Pinder with the flashy, less talented (in my opinion) Patrick Moraz in 1978. The music changed direction without the influence of Mike Pinder, who was a major influence in the direction of their earlier sounds that I loved. You should listen to the entire Days Of Future Passed album. The entire album is a masterpiece, and it was one of the three rock albums that were most influential in the direction of music today, along with the Beatles Sargeant Peppers Lonley Hearts Club Band and the Beach Boys Pet Sounds. All three albums were released in 1967, and all were way ahead of their time.
Classic song Biss! This song stands the tset of time! Moody Blues are a great band and this song is more of a Vibe! It takes you on a journey! Thanks for sharing Biss ❤️💛
When they are on tour, they send their music ahead. I live in a southern Indiana town, and we have a great philharmonic orchestra. They backed the Moody Blues very professionally. I rank it as one of the best concerts I have seen.
“How do we call this?”, I can only answer that it is the beauty of the human spirit. It transitions through all of the ages, languages and religions. Like our young host.. it’s forever beautiful in a way that our hearts just can’t understand. ❤
I've seen the Moody Blues in concert three times. The first in the mid 80's, the last in 1996. Each time with a full backing orchestra and always amazing.
I enjoyed your reaction and comments to this song. I'm happy that you liked it so much. Moody Blues released a lot of great tunes in their career, most of which I believe you would enjoy. This song was featured on their 1967 album, Days of Future Past, with the help of The London Festival Orchestra. It is one of the earliest true concept albums with the first tune being 'The Day Begins' and the final track being 'The Night' (aka, Nights in White Satin). It's a phenomenal album that I've enjoyed for nearly 50 years. It's a great album that deserves a listen whenever you have time to sit back and relax. Cheers!
Hi 👋☺️ Miss Bisscute ( Madalina ) Here are some suggestions for you !!! Like button ✅ has been Illuminated 🤗 1) Tuesday Afternoon 2) Forever Autumn 3) In your Wildest Dreams
"Cold hearted Orb that rules the night -- Removes the colors from our sight. Red is grey, and yellow white. But we decide which is right, and which is an illusion."
Every time I hear this song I still get goosebumps and I remember when it came out and his voice is just keeps getting better with age. I really love the extended version of this song.
A beautiful song especially this version Tuesday Afternoon is another great song by them. Justin's voice has stayed strong through the many years it's amazing really. Great reaction enjoyed it thank you.
I know you have to pause or the video gets blocked, but this is one of those songs that should not get interrupted while listening to.. excellent choice.
A timeless classic spanning decades and ALL generations! If this doesn't "touch you" (or anyone) nothing would. The way Justin sings "'Cause I love you" will haunt me and bring me peace and warmth and love forever! I heard this song as a child and it hit my soul immediately with goose bumps! When I saw this dropped in I was a bit worried because this is close to my heart (for many reasons) its very deep Bisscute, and for your own journey I guarantee you might come back to this one day in the future when you have room for a deeper love
🇨🇦 I am surprised you have not reacted to this song before ! And Justin's voice has not changed, this is why they have been my favourite group since 1968 ! 🇨🇦
I too love when you have great songs, that have instruments in them like this flute. I love listening to Elvis as he has such a FULL band in the background!
I ACTUALLY like his voice better in this live performance than the original performance in 1968 🥰👏 I agree with you about the flute ! So heavenly and beautiful 🥰
I think I was in sixth grade when this came out. In my opinion, this is still one of the most beautiful songs ever written and still can hold its own today. Thank you for the reaction ❤
This is a beautiful song from my teens and this is a great version of it. There is a really long version with poetry in it. Great reaction Lady Biss, you were looking as beautiful as the song and your hair was so stunning.
I've read through a lot of the other comments and for some reason, I like songs of there that were not mentioned by other commenters. "Your Wildest Dreams" and "I Know You're Out There Somewhere" are my two favorite songs of theirs, Nights In White Satin coming in at #3. I'm glad you liked them as much as so many of us out here do as well.
Great reaction to this beautiful song! From this band I would recommend "Question". Besides that I would like to suggest it is time you tried yourself some Jethro Tull. Look for "Locomotive Breath" live version!!
Two people I know sang this on stage, with the lead singer looking at his girlfriend all through the performance. Of course, they didn't have an orchestra but it was quite moving, standing room only, every night. The next year I took a music appreciation class and for my project I planned photography shots for the whole album "Days of Future Past". At least one other single made it to the pop charts, "Tuesday Afternoon". I must have listened to it over 40 times. This was 1968 or '69 and I should have taken this idea forward because now there is big money in music videos. I don't like most music videos because they don't have a central theme, mine did. On the album there is a fantastic little poem which is icing on the cake, which explains the paradoxical title. The lead singer made some other good but not great original songs but this was his masterpiece. What blew me away was he came up with this song in his late teens with no particular girl in mind. I always thought there had to be some great back story no one wanted to talk about. Going back to my Mom's generation, "Stardust" and "Georgia" seems to been inspired by some great love affairs but "Georgia' was written by Hoagy Carmichael to his sister. Maybe this is why great song writers like Bob Dylan won't give details of what inspires them and keep it as a mystery.
Great reaction Biss, just wanted to let you know, this live performance is exactly like the studio version, voice, instruments, including the flute and the orchestra. All exactly the same and I grew up listening to this, it was such a huge hit. Thanks for this, 💖💖
His voice has not changed 1 bit since the original 1967!!!!!! One of the all-time classics of classic Rock!!!!!!!!!!! Grandpa can SANG ;-) Now you see what a whole Band of Grandpas can do ;-) Can you imagine the Genius of the mind of a 19 year old kid to compose this????
his voice is still as great as it ever was in his youth, one of the best voices in music history
Not really. Just listen to a youthful version.
Turtle said it all Biss.
The only other artist with that pure tone voice through all ranges was Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers!
And Greg Lake
Far better far stronger
He wrote that song at age 19,amazing song originally came out in 1967, then it was released again in 1972, one of the greatest songs ever made!
His voice has aged better than anyone in rock. You still need to hear him at 20. It will make you cry.

Grown up music
Crowd is just sitting back and enjoying the angelic sound they are playing
Beautiful and epic song
I saw them live and they looked and sounded identical to this performance and with full orchestra. Best concert I’ve ever seen.
When they are on tour, they send their music ahead. I live in a southern Indiana town, and we have a great philharmonic orchestra. They backed the Moody Blues very professionally. I rank it as one of the best concerts I have seen.
One of my all time favorite bands when I was 16. They were quite psychedelic & trippy! 😵💫😉
I like the variety of songs that you have in your channel this orchestra composition with Moody Blues was a great choice. Keep up with the good work.
The finish at the end of the song by the orchestra was remarkable. Great classic song. 👀👀
I've grown up with these guys, and his voice hasn't changed one pitch.
“How do we call this?”, I can only answer that it is the beauty of the human spirit. It transitions through all of the ages, languages and religions. Like our young host.. it’s forever beautiful in a way that our hearts just can’t understand. ❤
Bisscute forever autumn Justin Hayward from the moody blues the most beautiful song in the world
its called passion - feel - emotion pure and simple.
I first heard this when it came out around 67, 68. His voice has not decayed much still very strong . Best to close your eyes and enjoy the sound.
Thank you for sharing this. I listened to this song a lot in my teens. It was pretty cool watching someone get to listen to it for the first time.
I've seen the Moody Blues in concert three times. The first in the mid 80's, the last in 1996. Each time with a full backing orchestra and always amazing.
During the same concert the Moody Blues sang "Question" which is must hear.
This song sounds great with the orchestra. In many of there live performances they have a orchestra with them
I enjoyed your reaction and comments to this song. Cheers!
Such a great, innovative, wonderfully talented band. Such beautiful music they created. Incredible. Truly incredible.
Hi 👋☺️ Miss Bisscute ( Madalina ) Here are some suggestions for you !!!
Like button ✅ has been Illuminated 🤗
1) Tuesday Afternoon
2) Forever Autumn
3) In your Wildest Dreams
Yes! Forever Autumn!!!
I'd suggest going back-to-back with "In Your Wildest Dreams" and "I Know You're Out There Somewhere" as they are companion songs.
A music masterpiece,,,,,,
"How do we call this?"... We call this what it is: BEAUTIFUL.
I think it's prettier now than it was in 1970.😮😢❤
The Moody Blues always had that theatrical sound !!
Эльфы из волшебного леса 🌳 спели нам свою чудесную песню! Я потрясён! Спасибо им за это! Спасибо ведущей за нужные слова в их адрес!❤
You should definitely check out the studio version as well
the long version
I too love when you have great songs, that have instruments in them like this flute. I love listening to Elvis as he has such a FULL band in the background!
I ACTUALLY like his voice better in this live performance than the original performance in 1968 🥰👏 I agree with you about the flute ! So heavenly and beautiful 🥰
I think I was in sixth grade when this came out. In my opinion, this is still one of the most beautiful songs ever written and still can hold its own today. Thank you for the reaction ❤
This song and his voice is as close to perfection you could get with a song.
thats a great observation , the crowd being quiet , meaning they are really enjoying it
This is a beautiful song from my teens and this is a great version of it. There is a really long version with poetry in it. Great reaction Lady Biss, you were looking as beautiful as the song and your hair was so stunning.
Year after year, decades after decades and the beauty remains intact, indeed it improves.
Question from the same concert is very good you will enjoy Bisscute
One of the best songs ever
I've read through a lot of the other comments and for some reason, I like songs of there that were not mentioned by other commenters. "Your Wildest Dreams" and "I Know You're Out There Somewhere" are my two favorite songs of theirs, Nights In White Satin coming in at #3. I'm glad you liked them as much as so many of us out here do as well.
Great reaction to this beautiful song! From this band I would recommend "Question". Besides that I would like to suggest it is time you tried yourself some Jethro Tull. Look for "Locomotive Breath" live version!!
Two people I know sang this on stage, with the lead singer looking at his girlfriend all
through the performance. Of course, they didn't have an orchestra but it was quite moving,
standing room only, every night.
The next year I took a music appreciation class and for my project I planned photography
shots for the whole album "Days of Future Past". At least one other single made it to the pop
charts, "Tuesday Afternoon". I must have listened to it over 40 times.
This was 1968 or '69 and I should have taken this idea forward because now there is
big money in music videos. I don't like most music videos because they don't have a
central theme, mine did.
On the album there is a fantastic little poem which is icing on the cake, which explains
the paradoxical title.
The lead singer made some other good but not great original songs but this was his
masterpiece. What blew me away was he came up with this song in his late teens with
no particular girl in mind. I always thought there had to be some great back story no one
wanted to talk about.
Going back to my Mom's generation, "Stardust" and "Georgia" seems to been inspired by
some great love affairs but "Georgia' was written by Hoagy Carmichael to his sister. Maybe
this is why great song writers like Bob Dylan won't give details of what inspires them and
keep it as a mystery.
Great selection and reaction. 😊😊❤❤
I especially love the version with the poem.
