Phil Collins played in London earlier that same day, took a helicopter to the airport, flew on the Concorde to New York, then was helicoptered to Philadelphia for this show.
Hi Biss, great choice today. I believe after he played in England, he got on a Concorde jet and flew to the U.S. to perform Live Aid in America a few hours later.
He has gotten a lot of unfair shit about doing that. He was supposed to be joined by others but the bands pulled out and he was the only one. It was NOT a publicity stunt.

Yes, there were many a slip-up from different bands - that's what you get sometimes when performing live. Not every member can hit/sing every note perfectly...but it's fine! It's live music with energy...and that crowd was giving it back big time. And, as mentioned below, Phil Collins did play in London first and then flew in a Concorde to the U.S. to play on their stage that evening. It was awesome to see. I'll never forget it.
yea he's lucky he didn't fall asleep mid song. that was a big day for him. I waited all day to hear Led Zep. get back together . the MTV wasn't synked up with the radio. so I just blasted the radio..... great day
Agreed. I LOVED that song, long before Mariah ever thought to cover it. I am a creature of habit so I actually did not like Mariah's cover to begin with, no matter how amazing she is. Her cover grew on me later, but nothing like the original. Phil is AWESOME. :)
Phil Collins is best known as the drummer/singer of the rock band Genesis in the 70's & later for his solo career. He has had so many great hits such as "Another Day In Paradise", "I Don't Care Anymore", "One More Night", "Sussudio", "Take Me Home", "Two Hearts", "A Groovy Kind Of Love", "I Wish It Would Rain Down", "You Can't Hurry Love" etc.
The amazing thing about Phil Collins and this Live Aid concert. Is the one part was in England, and the other part was in America. And as a special thing, after Phil performed live in England, he hopped on a Concorde supersonic jet that were still flying at the time, and then performed live in America only a couple hours later.
Live Aid concert is history. He knew it. He was nervous, of course. Then he made a mistake but he didn't overreact. Please note he then changed his gear and sung even better! It was live, without prerecorded stuff or tricks.
Yes, that was a brief piano mistake near the beginning. As a keyboardist for decades, that would be my worst nightmare during a solo performance, but he made a great recovery and I love the smirk on his face right after he did it. 😁 Also...great song.
When I played drums, I lost or broke a stick more then once at the worst possible moments during a song. I learned the hard way, best thing you can do if you have a little hick-up like that, don't try to pretend it didn't happen and than bother about if you "got away with it" for the next minutes. That only distracts and you probably make more mistakes. Just own it, and smile it away. It happens to the best.
Musician professionality doesn’t allow time to acknowledge mistakes. He still acknowledged it shown in his face, but immediately the “show must go on!”
Phil Collins is one of those greatest talented singers that I can never stop listening to one of his legendary bops! Disney’s Tarzan introduced me to him because of “You’ll Be In My Heart”, “Two Worlds” & so much more! Best nonstop repeating songs there is🎧💯
It's what I love about an amazing band live. You feel all the emotion...mistakes and all. No mistakes on the radio.....So, yeah...Phil Collins is truly amazing. One of the best song writers and musicians of our lifetime.
1) Yep, that was a "note mistake".... which obviously everyone ignored. 2) Phil Collin's "stage presence" has always been kind of "vanilla" in presentation.... but his LIST OF SONGS are among the best. 3) The fact that his "Live vocals" and "Studio vocals" were SO CLOSE makes any video with Phil (Live/Studio) worth listening to. 4) For nearly 20 years, this man was considered one of the BEST song-writers on the planet. Which is obvious by the number of times his songs topped the charts in both his solo career and time in Genesis. 5) While Phil's talent singing, on the drums and piano are undeniable... do NOT overlook the fact that his "band" were extremely talented as well..... touring with him for nearly 40 years.
Good God that was just unbelievable performance by Phil wow I'm glad we got to see that together I'm glad that you can react the same way I am I'm 59 years old and that put a tear in my eye
The piano isn't Phil's first instrument, it's the drums, so getting in front of that many people for an impromptu concert and performing on that level is pretty miraculous, also Solo performances are so unforgiving if you make any mistakes, it sticks out like a sore thumb as they say!
I love little moments like that, and it's so great because it shows what a pure consummate PRO Phil is because he just gives a rueful litle grin and carries on like it never happened. That takes such incrdible guts to pull off and I admire this man SO MUCH.
This song is one of the Best songs I know.. so melodic, emotional and pure... The Album version + the Live version(Offical Music Video) are even better..
I don’t know if I’ll be the only one to tell you this, but you really should listen to the studio version of this. It is magic when the drums kick in and it’s just as much emotion in it
bisscute , Yes it was a little mistake on keyboard, i explain : Phill Collins was a drummer, one of the best, he played on a band call GENESIS, performing drums ans second voice, when the lead voice (Peter Gabriel), left the band he begun to sing all songs, on live shows there was another drummer ( Chester Thompson), (Bill Bruford), and he plays drums too and sang all songs.
"One More Night" is a nice slow, romantic song. "True Colors" is his version of the song from Cyndi Lauper. "You Can't Hurry Love" has a really nice upbeat rhythym to it, but my favorite from him would be either "Seperate Lives" or "I Don't Care Anymore". Both were written during his divorce for his cheating wife.

I was born 4 months before Live Aid. So glad u are doing more Phil, hes one of my favorite artists. I also recommend Sussudio, Something Happened on the Way to Heaven, and Another Day in Paradise. Great reaction Biss!! ❤🎹
Yes, I liked "Against All Odds" . You should remember that it's a live performance. Most singers don't need to perform as precisely as they do in a studio during live concerts. People attend live concerts mostly for fun. When singers and bands make records in the studio, they always focus and give their best performance, often requiring multiple editing sessions to make the song perfect. My taste in music is not like that of most Americans. I enjoy songs with beautiful melodies and romantic themes. I'd like to recommend that you react to another one of Phil's songs, "Do You Remember?" In my opinion, it's a pretty good song and one of my favorite Phil Collins songs.
Hi Bisscute Phil Collins did the Live Aid concert in England and then jumper on Concord and did the some Live Aid concert in America and was the only Artist to do this
Люди слушали, затаив дыхание. Браво музыканту и певцу в одном лице! Я восхищён! Когда говорит Biss, я слушаю её, затаив дыхание! Молодец девушка, всё правильно говорит!❤
this guy is incredible ... he played in the UK for Live Aid took a helicopter to Heathrow and then flew on a supersonic Concorde to NY city then grabbed another helicopter to Philadelphia to play there for the USA Live Aid ... i love Phil Collins such an amazing artist ...
All his songs are amazing and his movie song soundtracks are amazing!! You should watch the movie 1984 called "Against All Odds" Or the 1985 movie "White Nights" with the 2 masters Mikhail Baryshnikov and Gregory Hines, including the beautiful Helen Mirren, Isabella Rosalini. The theme song is by Phi Colins and it will make you get teary eyed as well. God I miss the Cold War, hahah
In the 80s, there was a song, for USA for Africa, had a lot of the famous singers from all of music, except Metal…the metal bands put one together called “Were stars”…it had Dio, Queensryche, Quiet Riot, a lot of 80s metal bands. But they werent concerts, just a song they all did.
Another great band you might want to check out is a band called LIVE. They have a number of great songs with powerful lyrics. I think you would really like some if not all of their songs. Keep up the great reactions and being your wonderful self. ✌️
In front of the world this guy is playing piano and singing without any back-up. Amazing. He explains his 'mistake' (good ear) in an interview (hot day, sweating). He never makes mistakes but you can see his cute, wry grin when he did. That is Sting sitting on the stage, btw. Phil Collins is a unique talent. Very authentic. Check out his acting in Phil the Shill from Miami Vice (free on Tubi TV with adverts). Check out more early Genesis you will be surprised at how they can ROCK. They have a great live video concert from 1980 at London's Lyceum Theatre. Phil is manic. Also, their live concert at Wembley Stadium is wonderful. ABACAB ROCKS.
I almost forgot just how good Phil sounds live 🤗, and somehow the missed key or key out of tune just made it more memorable. Like many here have mentioned, I didn't know he hopped on The Concorde and came to play for us 😊.
I love live versions. Yes, those were "Fat finger" mistakes. but that adds to the moment. The Studio version begins like the video, but adds a heavy drum and a few background instruments to add to the emotion. GREAT Reaction!
Hi biss, mistake due probably from fatigue and jet lag, the SAME day for live aid, he did the show in Philadelphia, got on a plane and did the one in England , also in the 70's thru early 90's, solo and with genesis he was a hit machine. a very social conscious artist. the original vid, "another day in paradise" sums him up well. P.s. saw him live solo twice, and twice with genesis, very top notch performers 👍👍
Rhis was also a theme song from a famous movie ...ghe wrote this about his divorce Hes the early drummer for Genisis and replaced peter Gabrial when he left the band and phil became rhe lead vocalist frotman then ... And realy brought more commercial hits for the band ...phils a great artist .Great drummer A hit song. ..machhine
Recommend: Peter Gabriel. Song is Solsbury Hill. The Live DNA version is great. This is probably his most popular solo song. He was lead singer for Genesis before Phil Collins.😊
I'll write a rather big list of Live Aid videos that I've seen and they are wonderfull 😀 Dire Straits "Sultans of swing" (the long 11 min version) and "Money for nothing" together with Sting, Pretenders - "In the middle of the road", Eric Clapton "In the white room", Mick Jagger "Miss you", Spandau Ballet - "True", Ultravox - "Vienna" (a bit strange song but incredible vocals), Sade - "Your love is king", Bryan Ferry - "slave to love". Last but most important, in case you haven't reacted to it yet USA for Africa - "We are the world" (The videoclip version) , it's the song with all the artists together singing against the starvation problem of Africa.
2 things- 1) he was the only artist to play both live aid locations. Wembly stadium and then jumped on the Concord and play in the US. 2) when this song first came out, the love of my life had just left me. This song still slams me on the floor. I love your reactions. Please don't stop.
I just talked to a friend today how terrible many of Phil Collins love songs are (One more night etc) but this is a great one and played live it's even better. And that he makes a mistake is ok, at first place Phil Collins is a drummer 🤘
Thank you Biss! Phil Collins' voice is amazing. Hope you do a reaction to his Genesis "HOME BY THE SEA" someday. Maybe you can do a reaction to Mike & The Mechanics (Mike Rutherford is Genesis' lead guitarist) as well. "SILENT RUNNING" is my favorite.
All the amazing stuff this man has done in his career… He still is bothered by the mistake at Liveaid. BTW he performed in both locations the same day. In the morning ay Wembley, the took the Concorde and performed here in Philly in the evening.
Thank you for watching the video, It means a lot to me .
I will leave this pinned message here to REMIND everyone that i do not have TELEGRAM and there is no GIVEAWAY. Those you see are bot scams . Keep yourself safe and know that I would not ask for your info.
To play a wrong note is insignificant
To play without passion is inexcusable
- Ludwig Van Beethoven
Excellent for pointing that out.
It’s all jazz 😎

yep. the only artist to play both. The flub is insignificant. The passion is outstanding.
A sign of a true professional is acknowledging a mistake and moving right on without missing another beat. An absolute great performer!
Even on stage plays etc, showing the audience that you know you made a mistake it often part of the technique.
Exactly !
The way he tripped and just kept pushing forward - makes me appreciate Phil Collins and this performance even more!😊
I don't think anyone cared in the moment
That's how talented he is. He's not a piano player he's a drummer. Great talent.

But, like a pro…he smiles, and moves on unbothered.

This is a good song thanks
I enjoyed this video
This song is in the movie with the same name
worth watching
Red Rain and Sledgehammer.
Don’t give up, In your eyes, Biko, just for giving some other famous titles 😊
Check out Billy Vera and the Beaters with "At This Moment".
Great choices I would add don't you forget about me by simple minds and U2
He truly is remarkable
cordial greetings from Uruguay excellent reaction 🤪✌️🇺🇾❤
I love you Phill Collins
I'm old enough to remember watching this with my dad
Phil was the best outro screamer of the 80's.
This song played at my HS baccalaureate (a sort of class get together before graduating to look back over the high school years in pictures).
All the amazing stuff this man has done in his career… He still is bothered by the mistake at Liveaid. BTW he performed in both locations the same day. In the morning ay Wembley, the took the Concorde and performed here in Philly in the evening.
❤ great song
Phil was the drummer and vocalist for the rock band Genesis
Phil Collins is one of my favorite Musicians!!! it's sad, that he's unable to perform anymore, due to health issues.
Cab Calloway/Minni the Moochier
1939
He was in England, after his presentation he took the Concorde to sing in USA at the same hour of the day... did you know that????
My wee sweetheart ,not just seven minutes. This is a classic work from my youth.I loved it when it was “pop” over forty years ago. ❤Bless
