Every guy in America had a crush on Linda Ronstadt . Men Women we all loved her and it only grew as she continued her career. She sang everything. A true vocal artist.
Yes! And the best version is the live Midnight Special performance. Linda is one of those rare performers whose live performances were frequently better than the studio recording.
Linda's dad was German-Mexican and her mother was German-English. She grew up in Arizona near the Mexican border. Her Mexican Grandfather was a big influence on her and she grew up singing the Mexican songs he taught her. Her whole family was into music and her dad was actually a big band (swing) leader at one time. Linda is an amazing talent and a master of many musical styles including Rock, Country, Broadway and show tunes, Mexican Folk, Big Band, as well as soft easy listening torch songs. You should check out the albums she did with the Newson Riddle Orchestra. She was the highest paid woman in music at one time and was the most successful Female artist in the 1970's.
“AZ near the southern border” Yes, indeed in my hometown of Tucson, where she still resides. (I’ve always been proud of that fact.) Two years ago, Tucson Symphony Hall was renamed The Linda Ronstadt Concert Hall….. a fitting tribute to this amazingly talented musician and gem of humankind.
Dude. She's in her mid 70s and I'm still in love with her. Yes, she is half Mexican half German. She grew up in Arizona right near the border. Yes, Spanish album(s) and anything else she ever tried. She can even do opera. I'm not kidding. She didn't write much music but she made those covers her own.
She has three Latin albums, two rancheros and one Latin salsa the name of the salsa album is Frenesí. Which is on UA-cam live version on the Jay Leno show.

The Eagles wrote and released it, but (as the story goes) after Glenn Frey heard her do the song he allegedly told her the song was hers from then on. Not sure if that's true, but once you hear her version of it you have to believe there could be some truth in it! Go immediately to "Desperado"!
The birth of the Eagles came from playing back-up for Linda Ronstadt in 1971 before both acts became hit machines with platinum records and sold-out concerts.
Saw her and her back up band which later became the Eagles in 71/72. They were the opening act for the main event, Van Morrison. Will never forget that concert. Pure gold!
Linda was not inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame until after she could no longer perform due to her medical condition preventing her from controlling her vocals well. Asked what took them so long to induct her, comments were made that she sang in so many different genres that it was difficult to classify her into the rock genre. Glenn Frey of the Eagles was the person introducing her to the ceremonial audience and was asked for which genre should Linda receive the HOF award. His reply was: "ALL OF THEM"!
Yes but she was best known for and did her greatest with the 1970's rock and roll era so that should've been good enough for the R&R HOF. It's my favorite. It just seemed when the 80's rolled around that her popularity started to wane (as far as being that superstar) although she made some great albums then. Mad Love did well but Get Closer, which I thought was wonderful, didn't do too well. I think that's when she began contemplating going somewhere else with her career in music. I wanted to the pop/rock sound to stay.
Linda sang everything under the sun. She rocked out(Tumbling Dice), Mexican ballads and Mariachi (Lo Siento Mi Vida, L Charreda), old school country (The Sweetest Gift with Dolly and Emmylou), American Standards (What's New with Nelson Riddle), Light Opera (Pirates of Penzance on Broadway), Motown, lots of Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison, and even Gospel (Mighty Rivers of Babylon). She was the best selling female artist of the 70s, which was something ehen you consider all the women of the era.
What's kinda funny is Linda must've felt the need to kinda jump on the "Jesus people" bandwagon in the 60's when she recorded a song called "We Need a Whole Lot More of Jesus, and a Lot Less Rock and Roll" on one of her first couple solo albums. She'd probably cringe on that song since she's not much of a religious/gospel singer. Probably included it because of the Jesus Movement in the hippie era.
That is the very first song I heard her sing in the early 70's and wanted to know more about her. What befuddled me most is of all the concerts I went to (and it was many in the 70's), she would never ever sing this torch song. I could never figure out why she wouldn't. I had so looked forward to hearing it live, but each time she just didn't choose it. Must be some reason for that because it's such a beautiful torch song of lost love and her vocals and heartache in it just sends you to tears.

Linda Ronstadt joined with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris for an album, maybe more. You won’t regret listening to them. The Sweetest Gift Those Memories Telling Me Lies To Know Him Is to Love Him
It's hard to explain how popular Linda was & still is. It didn't matter what genre of music you listened to, Linda was included in you're music(just like Karen Carpenter). I loved my Country Music(not the stuff they call country today) & Linda, l considered country. Everyone claims her! That's what happens when you have an outstanding voice. YOU MUST LISTEN TO Linda, Dolly Parton & Emmylou Harris sing together. They are angels with amazing harmonies. They did 2 albums, Trio 1 & Trio 2. Not one song on these albums is close to being bad or just a song to fill the album. So it doesn't really matter what you pick, they're all that good. Even if you don't want to do a reaction, do yourself a favor. Listen to every song on both albums! You will think you died & went to Heaven. There's a funny story. Linda was going to sing with Johnny Cash on his show. They said Linda doesn't like to wear underpants. Well, June Carter Cash, Johnnys wife made someone go out & buy her a pair of underwear. June said "if you're gonna sing with Johnny, you're gonna wear underpants!" 😂 l can just see June saying this!
Emmylou Harris had a big influence on Linda so that folk music flavor is what you are hearing! Her voice is so smooth and velvety but clear as a bell at the same time. You need to check out her duet with Aaron Neville called “Don’t Know Much” I think you will love it! Really enjoyed this one! ❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
You'll never know how many guys in the '70s had that "conversation" with Linda. Of course, she sang "Long Long Time" and "Love Has No Pride" just for me.
Those 2 guys singing with her one is Don Henley and the other is Glen Frye from the Eagles they started as her back up band then with her blessing they went out and for 10 years straight produced hit after hit theres another song by Linda called Mad love I used to listen to when I was young its awesome as well😍🤙
Oh you definitely have to listen to Linda singing LA CIGARRA (Live - 1987) and LA CHARREADA with Mariachi Vargas (Live in 1989). She will blow your mind. Also check out Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville duets, especially "Don't know much" (live). Just magic. Jeanette, New Zealand
If you want to be blown away, listen to some of her Spanish recordings. That girl could sing. Anything. Anything from any genre. She could even do opera. From honky tonk, to country to opera to Mexican to classical. Anything.
Her Spanish songs are AWESOME - Her "La Charreada" or ""La Cigarra" will blow you away!!! She is of German/Mexican descent from Tuscon Arizona!! She sings in so many different genres it is hard to place her except to say there is a reason the simply call her ""The Voice"" - every female singer wanted to be her & every guy & some gals had a crush on her!!! She also released an "easy listening" album with famed band leader Nelson Riddle who worked with Sinatra, Martin, Darin & most other crooners of the 50-60-70's This is "Great American Songbook" music!! She also did Broadway & Light Opera!!!! She is "The Voice" can't do better than her!!!
The light bearded backup singer is J.D. Souther who passed away days ago. The other is Kenny Edwards, another Stone Pony, who stayed faithful with her band.
Linda rules and we love her. Yes, she has the Latino Lifetime Achievement Award, and sings like a bird! Never a bad tune and she brought you the Eagles after a fashion. You need to play this song below, it's a good one Pegasus but not very long! Kid Rock and Hank Williams - F word
I was at that performance also at Baker. I begged my roommate to come with me. I had to convince her this was a singer worth hearing because I was familiar with her voice from the song Beat of Different Drummer with the Stone Ponies.
Every song she sang was absolutely ennobled by her talent. That sweet woman can do anything. The most talented woman in American music. I saw her singing live in Central Park in the operetta "Pirates of Penzance" beautifully.
Her father was Mexican and she grew up in Arizona near the border. She has a lot of family in Mexico. 70 years ago (before Republicans started using immigration for political purposes) the border was a much friendlier place and her parents and siblings traveled back and forth frequently. Her Mariachi music is amazing and well worth a listen. Great reaction. Love your channel 🌺✌️ That guy with the reddish hair and beard singing backup is Andrew Gold. He’s a talented musician and songwriter. One of the songs he wrote is “Thank You For Being a Friend”. I notice you use a version of it on your channel and, of course, it was the theme song for the sitcom “Golden Girls”. 🌸
This song is originally recorded by” smokey Robinson and the miracles” but of course Linda!!! could sing any style so that’s what makes her great❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍
Most of her songs were cover songs, she was known as the Queen of Remakes. You should check out her version of the Stones "Tumbling Dice." She is my favorite female artist.
You have to listen to her live version of Desperado and Down So Low it will blow you away. So many to name dig deeper into catalog. Her father was Mexican.
Linda's father was Mexican....so yea she has a lot of Latin passion in her music. She has had a huge life. Hit after hit, dated the governer of California for a while, and sadly in her older years got Parkinson's. She has worked very hard to get her music back. So sad to know what you were robbed of by a very horrible disease. My personal favorites include Faithless Love, Black Roses/White Rhythm and Blues, and of course Silver Threads.
YES ITS DOPE !!!! "Canciones de Mi Padre" Album by Linda Ronstadt ...Canciones de mi padre is American singer Linda Ronstadt's first album of Mexican traditional Mariachi music.
She always had the BEST musicians, because she was the top singer of her time. She was the only woman on the music tours. She could and did any genre from light opera to country to Salsa to ballads to hard rock! She dated Presidential candidates and governors, but also shacked up with down and out songwriters (please play WILLIN').
Country seasoning indeed! My favorite Spanish song she does is "La Charreada". Also, a duet she sings with Aaron Neville "I Don't Know Much". Very sultry chemistry in a song she does with Aaron. It caused a few eyebrows to be raised! Aaron has a very unique voice, and it surprises everyone that a man who looks like he does can sing the way he does, which is a very good thing!
Such a beautiful woman, voice, and song. She kills it. My favorite song of hers is a live version of "Long, Long Time." The expression on her face as she sings it will melt your heart.
Linda Ronstadt's cover & John Rivers' 1967 original are both terrific! I've always loved her voice and was saddened to learn that she's having to give up singing for medical reasons. Thanks for playing this & your comments.
That be so, but for the record - “The Tracks of My Tears” was written in 1965 by William “Smokey” Robinson, Jr., Warren Moore and Marv Tarplin, three members of the Miracles. The group recorded it in Studio A of Motown's Hitsville USA facility, with the Miracles' lead singer, Smokey Robinson, as producer.
This woman has always been one of my top five idols I’m so thrilled that you have discovered her voice. I grew up with her from the 60s. The saddest thing is that she now has Parkinson’s disease and cannot sing anymore. Probably one of the worst things that could happen to someone that has had such an amazing voice and impact on Music over the years and now that is taken from her that’s really sad. But she has left behind some amazing music and being an old white woman that Grew up with this type of music I am just so happy that y’all have discovered it may God bless you all
Singing background music was, Andrew Gold, on guitar, a musical artist whose two biggest hits were, " Thank You For Being a Friend", and "Oh What a Lonely Boy", and Kinney Edwards on bass and vocals. Mike Botts on drums; he was a famous session musician and widely known as the drummer for the 70's band, Bread, and on steel guitar, Danny Kortchmar.
Lol, that was cute - "Linda...Linda...wanna get some coffee? She was a great singer- have several of her albums. Thanks for sharing your reactions- I decided i would watch your show in my phone so i can react. 😄
Saw Linda Ronstadt in NYC at a concert done entirely in Spanish !!! It was promoting her album "Canciones De Me Padre" Songs Of My Father. She does NOT speak Spanish but learned verbatim the pauses, the inflections, the forcefulness, the softness in all the proper places ...my sister in law from Mexico wanted the "casette' at the time for her Mexican Mother ,thats how good it was. I didnt understand the lyrics to the songs obviously ,i dont speak Spanish. But it was so beautiful and sung with such passion i was teary throughout most of the concert! Linda is great and definitely check out more like Someone To Lay Down Beside Me. And it’s not just that she sings in Spanish in honor of her Mexican heritage, but that mariachi style allows her to showcase amazing vocal capabilities you’d never hear otherwise. Finally, that last sound bite is taken from the song, Thank You For Being A Friend, whose originator, Andrew Gold, is a frequent Linda R collaborator and is one of the background singers you complemented in the video.

Zero Autotune - this was back when singers had actual talent. I mean there is talent and then there is TALENT - Linda is the latter. This is as good as it gets, folks.
I saw her in concert in Detroit . She sings everything and yes she has a Spanish album. As she has a Mexican background .
A 5’2” power-house!! Definitely one of the best female singers ever to hit the stage!
Huge fan of Linda Ronstdt and if you loved her vocals on Blue Bayou and Tracks Of My Tears her song Long Long Time, even after 50 yrs gives me goose bumps
La Cigarra live is fantastic, she holds that note so long!
You must hear The Trio!
Linda, Dolly & Emmylou Harris
The Sweetest Gift
Check out this cover. F&F have some of the finest vocals period. ua-cam.com/video/i8LswT9ZLAs/v-deo.html
OMG OMG OMG YESSSSS!!! The three of them together was great FIND IT!!!!
@ConspiracySmurf They have been doing it since they were 14, about 12 yrs ago
Several Ronstadt tracks. They must have about 150 covers. The dudes can flat out play and sing, too. Another.ua-cam.com/video/P-EpGKXmoe4/v-deo.htmlsi=g2DiCHVTLTtctE9b
@@RonErickson-w6n They did a great job, I love their band name and I left a comment! Thanks for sharing!
@ConspiracySmurf I've got another rabbit hole for u to go down. Elia Wood. (may need to add drummer to miss the actor) Was Twain's drummer 2015-2022. Has about 20 drum cam videos that are linked to the live 21-22 LV residency shows. One of the GOAT power pocket drummers to sit behind a kit. From a music family and the playing arrangements show. All 4/4 Mutt Lange stuff, but the fills are crazy. The cymbals, the drumming patterns. It's mind boggling. Enjoy. Here is one ua-cam.com/video/IBsoJqN90p8/v-deo.htmlsi=yVXvNWbJctK1IIZj
Everybody loves Linda's voice!
Everything she sings is silk. Her version of the Stones Tumbling Dice is really good. You should check out her first hit with The Stone Poneys, Beat of a Different Drum
Oh Linda Linda Linda
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Linda is the GOAT can't go wrong with ANY song by Linda.
She's in the Hall of Fame
Linda Ronstadt joined with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris for an album, maybe more. You won’t regret listening to them.
The Sweetest Gift
Those Memories
Telling Me Lies
To Know Him Is to Love Him
It's hard to explain how popular Linda was & still is.
Linda was doing folk and country long before she met Emmylou Harris.
You really should check out her cover of Smokey Robinson's song Ooh Baby Baby. It is 🔥🔥
If you want to be blown away, listen to some of her Spanish recordings.
Ronstadt is virtually the perfect vocalist. Dig in.
One of my favorites. Thanks for the reaction. Yes, she put out a Spanish record. You name it and she's probably done it.
That is what we all said back in the day. Linda was every guys crush!!
I paid a .25, yes a whole quarter to hear her sing at Ohio University when she first started. She is awesome.
This song is originally recorded by” smokey Robinson and the miracles” but of course Linda!!! could sing any style so that’s what makes her great❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍
You're No Good or When Will I be Loved...both great songs by Linda.
The red headed backer singing and playing the guitar is Andrew Gold(Lonely Boy, Thank You for Bring a Friend)
La Charreada - Linda Ronstadt and Mariachi Vargas (Live)
You should see the video of Motown 25, where Linda and Smokey sing this song together!
She was fantastic to see her live in concert. What a voice.
Try "Desperado" more of Linda's excellence! Oh the sounds of the music I grew up with, incomparable!
Linda's Spanish language material is magic, as is her collaboration with Nelson Riddle for a sophisticated, elegant treatment of the Big Band era.
YES ITS DOPE !!!!
"Canciones de Mi Padre"
Album by Linda Ronstadt ...Canciones de mi padre is American singer Linda Ronstadt's first album of Mexican traditional Mariachi music.
THIS ALBUM WON A GRAMMY AWARD !!!
She always had the BEST musicians, because she was the top singer of her time. She was the only woman on the music tours. She could and did any genre from light opera to country to Salsa to ballads to hard rock! She dated Presidential candidates and governors, but also shacked up with down and out songwriters (please play WILLIN').
Si, fuego! So the next one should be "La Charreada" from her album Canciones De Mi Padre.
I agree. Your next Linda reaction should be La Charreada. It'll blow you away.
Now that I here this again after all these years... coutry-fied Motown!!! She's making Melvin Gay cry!
Most beautiful woman ❤ You're no good is a must my friend. Peace out ✌️ ☮️
Such a beautiful woman, voice, and song. She kills it. My favorite song of hers is a live version of "Long, Long Time." The expression on her face as she sings it will melt your heart.
Saw her live a few times in the 70s and 80s, and her voice was as powerful live as in the studio.
She had an wonderful voice and everyone loved her and her music
Linda could sing the phonebook and you would be mesmerized.
Perfect pitch, perfect Linda. She could sing the phonebook and we would love it.❤🎉
This was beautiful for mother's Day thank you so much❤❤❤❤
Before she got sick Linda was as good, or better, live than in the studio! Such a voice….all the guys wanted her and all us gals wanted to be her!
Lol, that was cute - "Linda...Linda...wanna get some coffee? She was a great singer- have several of her albums. Thanks for sharing your reactions- I decided i would watch your show in my phone so i can react. 😄
She has musical connections to the eagles , Jackson Brown , Stone Poneys !! Freaking awesome !
Love her and also Rita Coolidge both my favorites from the 70's. Thanks
Always loved "Silver threads & golden needles'"
She was girlfriend to Gov of Ca back when...Jerry Brown!
My first concert ever- Mile High/Denver early 70’s - Eagles & Linda Ronstadt-EPIC
" You're no good" is one you need to hear !!
Definitely, please listen to Linda sing La Charreada! She’s amazing singing in Spanish.
Had a crush on her since I was 13. Here voice is as close to heaven as you could be
Early Linda is the STONE PONIES... you might enjoy hearing the beginning
