I had the rare privilege of being in the audience for this concert. Sissel had also performed with the Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square in 2006 for their annual Christmas concert, and I was really looking forward to seeing her perform again. When this number, “Slow Down,” started, after about 20 or 30 seconds, there was this sensation like electricity in the air. As far as I could tell, everyone in attendance (21,000 people), knew that they were witnessing something very special. At the end of the song, there is the brief pause. It seemed like it lasted for a minute, but it was only a second or two, and there was perfect, sacred stillness. Then everyone leapt to their feet. (Or slowly pulled themselves upright, for us older kids.) But the ovation went on and on. Sissel was very emotional. The audience was very emotional. Her voice is like crystal and chimes. It was a highlight of my life, I can tell you that. Thank you for your reaction to this!
I heard Sissel's performance for the first time only a couple of weeks ago, and replayed it several times.... I realized I was hearing a divine voice behind hers. I'm a little envious of you in the audience ;)
I’m humbled to have been one of the choir members singing with the glorious Sissel. She transported us! Right after this concert, the world shut down for Covid. We literally slowed down. Sissel kept our souls going.❤
@@lorihayward7283 This was my first concert as a retired choir member enjoying the concert from the audience. It was an incredible experience to just sit and absorb the music. I will never forget that moment.
I was in the audience for this performance. The entire 20,000 seat Conference Center was silent, drawn in, and participating with her and the angel choir for what felt like a sacred prayer. I'm happy you are able to experience it as well. I will never forget that experience.
21,000 people and not a sound the entire time. Everyone knew their lives had changed. 6 years later and I still listen with just as much respect as that day.
My husband and I were there too! Not a dry eye in the audience. It was one of those moments you just sit in stunned silence, and rapture. The applause was a standing ovation for at least 5 minutes, and when Sissel teared up the applause increased. We all shared a moment of peace and beauty and communion with God.
I was in the audience during this performance and it was just as emotional and as beautiful for us. Everyone was moved, including Sissel. I think that she even cried at the end. We definitely all felt the Lord's Spirit that day.
A voice like pure crystal... last time I listened to her was almost 4 years ago, just after my Younger Sister's sudden passing.. She was singing Going Home, my eyes are leaking as I type this. So needed this today thank you dearest Viking.
Sitting here watching this for the first time as well. I am balling my eyes out in the best way. I have had two miscarriages and am currently pregnant. We are worried about this one also being a miscarriage. This is a message I needed to hear. Be still and know that He is God.
That was just beautiful. To have the Tabernacle Choir as your backup vocals….incredible! And yes, more Tabernacle Choir. I have a lot of their music, both religious and secular.
You've heard the choir before. What amazed me with this piece was the restraint they maintained throughout the performance. May I suggest that you react to their version of Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing. Sissel's voice and her ability to express the emotion here was so touching. Watching with you was wonderful!
It was stated that during her performance, that someone in the audience stated, you could hear a pin drop. The spirit of the singer overwhelmed everyone that was listening in a very spiritual positive experience.
This was absolutely stunning! I'd never heard of Sissel before this reaction, but I thank you from the bottom of my heart for introducing her to me! She truly has the voice of an angel. And please don't ever apologize for feeling what you feel or how the music moves you. It's one of the top reasons that I was drawn to your reactions/your channel. I do hope that you'll be reacting to more from Sissel and from the Tabernacle Choir in the future. Don't ever change, Viking!

Wow, what an angelic voice. Beautifully sung in conjunction with the orchestra and the choir. Pure goosebumps including tears.... Thank you Viking for this wonderful moment. Thanks for sharing....
The word exquisite comes to mind. Also, as someone else mentioned, in addition to Sissel’s crystal clear, angelic voice, the choir’s restrained yet heavenly backup was like being bathed in ethereal beauty.
The audio for the recording doesn't do it justice, just how thunderous that applause is. The Conference Center at Temple Square is massive on the inside. 21k attendees all united in applause, in a hall built for acoustics is borderline deafening. It's tremendous. One of the best performances ever at that hall
Siss had just turned 50 here but still has it. She is a consummate professional performer. Her advantage in singing faith songs is that she believes... sincerity.
My goodness! I've never heard of Sissel before, but you hit it on the head describing her voice as "angelic." That was absolutely exquisite.👌 Thanks for sharing that performance & introducing us to her.
Oh thank you so much Viking for reacting to this. I have never heard this song or the singer. She is amazing and her singing goes right to your soul. I have know about the Tabernacle Choir since I was very young. They always are so beautiful.
As a Norwegian, Sissel Kyrkjebø is well known. She became an instant hit as a 16-year old when she sang at TV-show in 1985 or 1986. Very important. I hav no way to describe how much that voice and that song affected me.. wonderful experience. Thank you, Viking.

What a beautiful song! This was the first time I watched anything other than Dan Vasc video reactions, which I love, but her voice was just angelic and the whole message of the song is so powerful and so important for me to remember these days! Thanks for sharing! God bless you, Sir! BTW, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with having emotions, because we’re all human. She had a beautiful voice! ❤️✌️
Amazing, thank you
It's not just the perfect Angelic voice, but it's a powerful message too
One of my aLL TIME Favorite versions of this song.
That lady can sing.My lord. Thank you.
Exquisite voice and exquisite performance, as always. If you’ve not heard her singing Like an Angel Passing Through My Room, I strongly urge you to find it and to listen when you are still and in need of the inspiration of another of her great performances. I guarantee it will touch every place in your heart.

Nothing more powerful than the word of God 🙏Amen
You should hear the Tabernacle Choir sing Handel’s Messiah, it is spectacular. You will love it! We love to listen to it at Christmas so if you record another advent Christmas Calendar you need to include it.
💖
Viking, I love that we can watch you knowledgeably rock out to heavy metal and also be so deeply affected by a performance like this. That's what makes you one of my favorite reactors. Thank you for being willing to go anywhere and everywhere with your music choices. 🙂
Sending love from Norway ❤
Yes, I was at that concert too. It was in celebration of Pioneer Day. (2019 Pioneer Concert with The Tabernacle Choir)
