This cover and the original are both great. Always an incredibly beautiful voice - Linda really could sing absolutely any song of any genre and it would be perfect.
One the purest voices of our generation. She could sing any style including light opera. Due to ill health she no longer sings, and we are reduced to recordings. She is special. She also recorded with Dolly Parton, and Emmilou Harris. 3 top singers sharing with us.
This was a great album, Prisoner In Disguise, the entire album was covers of another singer/songwriters music. Her cover of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You from the album, was used as the template for David Foster & Whitney Houston version of Dolly's I Will Aways Love You. Prisoner In Disguise is one of the most beautiful songs ever, and her cover of Jimmy Cliff's Many Rivers to Cross, and Neil Young's Love Is A Rose are stand outs.
Congrats to Merchant of Alba's dog for making their UA-cam debut at 3:31! I don't recall seeing the pet before. Even canines can't resist Linda's voice.
She’s just the very best. I’ve been alive for 70 years and I have yet to hear a more beautiful voice! I love your enthusiasm and your joy and obvious love for each other. It’s very touching. Anyway, thanks for appreciating Linda. I should also point out the quality of the musicians she always had around her. They always sounded wonderful and enjoyed playing and singing with her because she is a very dear and kind person. I have always loved her perfect blend of sweetness and power. You’re correct about many many young men who were in love with her! 🌸💐✌️
Linda was a boyhood crush of mine as well as a muse for more than a few rock legends. She was in love with another rocker named Lowell George of the band Little Feat and covered a few of his songs. A good Little Feat would be Spanish Moon from the live album Waiting For Columbus. Little Feat was a GREAT live band and if they were in town it was an all out party.
I think it was Willy Nelson maybe (?) who once said there were two kinds of guys in the world, those who were in love with Linda and those who hadn't yet met her. She did a beautiful rendition too of Desperado. The live in Atlanta clip from 1971 is wonderful. Hope you get to hear that one sometime. Thanks for sharing this one.
Lindas' voice was beautiful, but she also worked very hard perfecting every word of every song she sang. She really used her voice as a musical instrument. ☮💙🎶
Great to see you coming back to Linda! That’s how I discovered your channel with your reaction to Linda singing in Spanish. What a great moment in international unity that was with a Polish - Romanian couple reacting to an American singer performing Mexican songs. I enjoyed that so much and so appreciate you highlighting one of the greatest vocalists of our times. And I knew then there was still a vast set of English music to experience. Thanks and keep the Linda music coming!
The primary of the guys harmonizing is Andrew Gold, also on guitar. He had Linda's back for much of the 70s, in spite of having a pretty fine career as a solo artist (check, Lonely Boy). If you watch enough of her live performances, you'll swiftly see that he's got a helluva voice and he's a fantastic musician. Unfortunately, he died young, age 59, about a decade ago.
He left Linda's band with her blessing to have a solo career. He became infamous wrtiting the song Thank You For Being My Friend, which became the theme song for the series The Golden Girls. The series ran through the 80's, making him a tidy bit of money. RIP Andrew.
I saw her live in San Diego in the 70s. While she was walking off stage, I gave her a little finger wave, and she finger waved back. She was soooo cute! Yes, major crush.
A National Treasure indeed. Linda recently celebrated another Birthday. Still feisty as ever. She just had harsh words for The Trump Campaign for using the Arizona Arena bearing her name. My crush on her in the 70’s was real, as is my continued love of her music. What an artist….
Was at Fillmore East in NYC. Might have been called The Village Theater at that time. Was lucky enough to go to many shows there. My 1st rock concert there was Moby Grape in Fall of '67.
Linda Ronstadt had such a wonderful voice. This is, of course, a cover of the 1965 song by The Miracles. (with Smokey Robinson) I have a sentimental attachment to the original recording. Linda did a great job though. Thanks for reacting to this track. Take care...
She sings with such emotion and power. My favorite female singer with Karen Carpenter a close second. I also had a major crush on her back in the day. I would have been 15 when this song came out.
This came out in September of my final year of high school. I wore out my copy of Prisoner in Disguise. I would play one side, flip it over, then play the other. There are so many great covers on this record. Her version of Many Rivers to Cross is gorgeous, and a song that helped lead me to listening to Jimmy Cliff. By the end of 1975 Linda had 3!!!! songs on the Canadian music Top 100 for the year. At #68 Heat Wave, # 97 You're No Good and When Will I Be Loved from Heart Like a Wheel still on the charts ending the year at #78.
Hello and hello! I am probably just one small voice in the darkness here, but I have been listening to David Gilmour's new Album, Luck and Strange, and I absolutely could not get you two off my mind. I cannot suggest highly enough that you listen to David Gilmour's "Scattered." This man is 78 years old and he is clearly in reflection mode. This song is the culmination and for some reason I have been thinking about your reaction to it for days now. So I figured I would jump onto your latest reaction video and take my shot. As someone probably your age with different but still monumentally impactful events in my life, this song dug deep and buried itself in nearly unreachable areas of my soul. And I felt a comradery with you two as I experienced it. The lyrics are every bit as important as the music.
Linda was one of the greatest singers ever. She hit it out of the park, I really dig Smokeys version also.Linda and Dusty Springfield are noted to do covers as good or better than the original. I suggest you check out Dusty another late great singer from the UK also as Linda inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.
I was one of countless guys who were crazy for Linda. So talented, beautiful and sexy. Don't know if you've reviewed these 2 early songs: Long Long Time and Different Drum. 2 of her best. Another beautiful song: A duet with Emmylou Harris. Across the Border, a song written by Bruce Springsteen. Some people may not know Linda is partially of Mexican descent. She did at least one Spanish language/Mexican album.
Ironically, everything you just said about 70s music compared to today is EXACTLY what old timers were saying in the early 70s about the music of that time. Some things never change.
There are newer artist that are bringing the great sound of this era back. Eilen Jewell is and amazing female artist of today, who would have been just as home in the 70's, as she is today.
You're spot on about the music connection. Before it was 'just let me play my guitar'. Now, it's executive producers and how much money will I make. You'd never see Beyonce (and others) doing something like this with her whole heart, she needs the big productions to ensure more money.
I can’t quite see real well but I’m pretty sure that the guy on drums is don Henley and one of the other gentlemen is Glenn Fry of the eagles they were her backup band called the stone ponys
All wrong. The Eagles were never part of The Stone Poneys. And The Eagles were no longer with Linda in 1975, which is when Tracks of My Tears was recorded.
Willie Nelson said it best: “ There are two kinds of people, those who love Linda Ronstadt and those who have never met her”…. A & D now Please go back to the same album that you reacted to before “Canciones de Mi Padre” and check out her video of “La Cigarra”. They way she can sustain a note is outta this world. Please react to it, I love your critiques, God Bless!….. SanJoséBob
I'm sure this may astonish you, but Linda never married. Heaven knows how many boyfriends she may have had back in the day, but one of the most public and prominent was a brief one with then California Governor Jerry Brown.
This cover and the original are both great. Always an incredibly beautiful voice - Linda really could sing absolutely any song of any genre and it would be perfect.
She really liked Smoky's songs. She also did a great version of "Ooh, Baby Baby" that Smoky Robinson wrote as well.
She and Smokey Robinson did a duet together - Ooh Baby Baby and Tracks of My Tears -that is a MUST SEE ❤❤❤❤❤
Check it out 😊
One the purest voices of our generation. She could sing any style including light opera.
Due to ill health she no longer sings, and we are reduced to recordings. She is special.

I AGREE!!! ...and, THE TRIO albums were SUPER SPECIAL!!! SO GOOD!!!
I'm 70 years young, and I've had a huge crush on Linda Ronstadt for over 50 years, and always will.
mid 60s, ditto
The greatest most versatile female vocalist of her generation.
Oh man she can sing her heart out 😊
A perfect song done perfectly. No tricks, one take, no excuses. I like the shrug at the end. Cheers, --bd

She's a great singer thanks guys🎉
You are so right. Lots of guys were in love with her. ❤

Awesome! Thank you! 💚
I am so happy you are doing Linda’s music. I have been in love with her for over 50 years.
Me Three! 👍
I wouldn't mind being the "substitute one" if it's with Linda Ronstadt!
Haha, good one 😁
SO MISS HER VOICE!!! STILL LOVE LINDA!! Thanks, Ya'll!! Have a GREAT WEEKEND!!!
You too!! ☺️
The blonde haired gentleman playing guitar in the booth with Linda is Andrew Gold (RIP) who had his own solo work.
Best singer of all time.
She does a great cover of Desperado her live version, also Down So Low beautiful and emotional.
Met my wife in 1977, and my first thought was "she looks like Linda Ronstadt!" ... and it's lasted so far! Love you two's channel! Keep it up.
Your wife must be very beautiful 💐
No pressure for the guys backing her up with the vocals. She's just the greatest singer of the 20th century.

02:56 " _'I forgot we were doing a reaction'_ probably the best reaction!
Listening to Linda and remembering love lost 😢
Linda also did oooh baby baby as well two beautiful songs x
Great cover of a great song!❤❤
I saw her live in San Diego in the 70s. While she was walking off stage, I gave her a little finger wave, and she finger waved back. She was soooo cute! Yes, major crush.
You can never go wrong w/ Ms Linda! She gives you so many emotions! Enjoyed your reaction! Keep them coming! Love & peace! 🫶🏼✌🏼
Ms. Rondstadt is still around, and still beautiful, but suffering from Parkinson's disease. She is a national treasure.
A National Treasure indeed. Linda recently celebrated another Birthday. Still feisty as ever. She just had harsh words for The Trump Campaign for using the Arizona Arena bearing her name. My crush on her in the 70’s was real, as is my continued love of her music. What an artist….
A track from Linda’s “Prisoner in Disguise” album which is an absolute masterpiece.
Great song and a great reaction. Thank you.
Saw her with the Stone Poney's. Fell in love in about 15 seconds. 10 seconds of looking and 5 seconds listening. Done. Lifelong fan.
Wow. Where was that?
Linda was one of my favorite teenage crushes. You should hear her sing in spanish. Her album Canciones de mi padre is amazing!
We did! That was our introduction to Linda! Please search in our 💚
Was at Fillmore East in NYC. Might have been called The Village Theater at that time. Was lucky enough to go to many shows there. My 1st rock concert there was Moby Grape in Fall of '67.
Love Linda !Please do HEATWAVE LIVE and TUMBLING DICE LIVE by Linda Rondstant
Linda Ronstadt had such a wonderful voice. This is, of course, a cover of the 1965 song by The Miracles. (with Smokey Robinson) I have a sentimental attachment to the original recording. Linda did a great job though. Thanks for reacting to this track. Take care...
Linda was really somethin'
Any song by Linda is a masterpiece.
Yes, lot of Linda posters on the wall in the 70s
She sings with such emotion and power. My favorite female singer with Karen Carpenter a close second. I also had a major crush on her back in the day. I would have been 15 when this song came out.
I still have a crush on Linda and of course Dominica.
☺️
Domonica, what do you mean, "back in the day", I still love her.❤😊
I hear you're not the only one 😁💚
My all time favorite female vocalist EVER! Try her mariachi concert live. She was in full costume!
This came out in September of my final year of high school. I wore out my copy of Prisoner in Disguise. I would play one side, flip it over, then play the other.

Try her extraordinary live cover of The Rolling Stones song, Tumbling Dice. Another one she made her own. Just scratching the surface….
Willie Nelson once said that the only guys that didn't love Linda Ronstadt were those that had never heard her.
Johnny Rivers did a fantastic cover of this song. You will love it.
Linda was one of the greatest singers ever. She hit it out of the park, I really dig Smokeys version also.Linda and Dusty Springfield are noted to do covers as good or better than the original. The original Smokey song is also great

Willie Nelson said " any man that doesn't have a crush on Linda, is because he's never heard her sing!!"
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Smokey Robinson's great song. She does it justice!
She did have some rough loves.
The studio musicians MAKE these songs for single artists and groups who don't record their own music.
For straight country from Linda "I Can't Help it if I'm Still in Love With You"
There are newer artist that are bringing the great sound of this era back.
Eilen Jewell is and amazing female artist of today, who would have been just as home in the 70's, as she is today.
Great!!! Imagine if her headphones wouldn’t have been uncomfortable, than you guys.
Great voice and stage presence. Her career cut short by a very serious form of palsy😢
Andrei and Dominicka will show the tracks of their tears with Tom Jones ‘I’ll Never Fall In Love Again’ written for him by Lonnie Lonegan!
You-guys should check out The Trio - was Dolly Parton, Emmy Lou Harris & Linda Ronstadt, together - like a BAND OF ANGELS!!!
Sounds great! Thank you 😊

Linda's beautiful cover of Smokey's Motown hit didn't hurt her image as a '70s object of romance.
The Stone Poneys were Linda, Bobby Kimmel and Kenny Edwards, not Frey and Henley...@@randyventresca4152
Oups! I read your post too quickly ...sorry
Linda had a songwriter friend named Warren Zevon. Another artist you should check out
Thank you 😊
@@MerchantOfAlba I'd hate to suggest a safe Zevon song (sort of like stomping one's way through a minefield), but "Raspberry Beret" is fun.
From Elvis to the start of MTV.
70s music sounds HUMAN, with the pauses and slight imperfectations that uncorrected human singing has.
BRYAN FERRY HAS ALSO A GREAT COVER OTHER HIT OF SMOKIE ROBINSON THE TEARS OF A CLOWN

I personally love the original more. It broke my heart.
Hey hey.bmcan jou Please react to Ren.He has some new nummers. They blow you away!!❤❤
Yes, it's on our list already 😊
Would love you to react to ABBA
We know ABBA pretty well. They had hit after hit back in a day 👍☺️
@@MerchantOfAlba thanks for your reply. Love your reactions. :)
Pls try to react alone again naturally
Some, maybe all, of that band went on to form Eagles.
No one in that band was an Eagle if I recall correctly.
