The lancer ignored the mimic beacon because he couldn't see it at the start of his turn - there was a tree stump blocking his line of sight. I've found that beacons work fine as long as you make sure the enemies have line of sight to them.
One thing I think you could have done to find the Assassin would be use the jump suit to jump to the top of that house. I'm pretty sure you could see her from that position (and Brace and shoot). Or maybe from a position even further behind her. Then you could direct allies to shoot her...
You're right, I did. We only had a couple of options so I started it even though we have no intention of using psionics on this run. It was such a momentous decision that I had probably forgotten it within about 5 minutes. 😉
@@Solmyr77By the time I've got room in the research schedule and get the facility up and running, there's just enough time to slowly train up the new psionic operatives in time to go on the last mission. I'm aware that some people rush psionics but I'd rather have my armor and weapons as soon as I can get them.
The assassin is, without a doubt, the chosen I hate the most and the one I dread the most. The other two are fairly predictable and trackable. But every time I think I've got the assassin under my thumb I end up paying a stupidly expensive price. Good mission and good job rolling with the punch

I see what you were saying about the mimic beacon becoming less reliable the further you're into the game. Irritating. When it becomes a coin toss of whether it will work or not...
Another day another banger. I really wish we could get xcom3. I currently play it on my daughter's nintendo switch with no mods I am ready for a new xcom.
Throw mimic beacons behind cover. The enemies will still target them but the have a higher chance to miss their shots. You might dodge 3 or 4 shots instead of 2.
@@ynkybomberThe weirdest part is that they nerfed the beacon at one point (when there was a proper to-hit roll) and declared that every shot an enemy took would now hit. Except... they just missed less often. And melee attacks seem to almost never hit. So at least not ALL of the bugs penalize the player.

Loving the constant videos right now TapCat! Got me back into playing Xcom after a long break. Keep 'em coming!

That sounds like a good idea. I don't think I used a jump the whole mission.
I was talking to the screen "She's right there! There! Right there!"
I actually think it was you that started on researching Psionics, but Syken switched it to Berserker Queen Autopsy.

@@TapCat Out of curiosity, why do you not like using psionics in your campaigns?

Finally, an assassin encounter that's illustrative of how it end up when I'm the one fighting her :D
She's can be a real handful, there's no disputing that.

Lol, nice to see that Wilson is fan of "classic" Marvel.

Where did you get that awesome shirt!!
I actually designed that one and had it printed, glad you liked it!

Mimic beacons don't benefit from cover.
@@TapCat good to know I always thought they did
