      Check with your local trans shop, a 6L80E, chrysler transmissions such as 604 or 606 that ball would work, a local trans shop should have plenty of them.

    Hi @Gary Ferraro. Thanks for the videos and all your help. I have a 2010 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 5.3l motor. I believe the 6L80 transmission. I have codes p0776 and p0700. The truck seems to over rev up to 4k rpm before shifting to 3rd gear and when in reverse it is really lazy and struggles to back up into my driveway. Also, I checked the trans fluid and it seems to be way overfilled! So I drained some of the fluid out until it was in the cross hatch area. I then drove it around the block to see if that made any difference but problem remained the same. What do you think could be the problem?

    Gary, great video and content as always. I am looking at my son's 2014 Silverado 6L80. NO CODES. The trans has drive and reverse and will lose BOTH at the same time. Cannot relate when it does this to any common denominator i.e. trans temp/run time. The scan tool displays the gear selected, but Gear Command on the scan tool was "neutral" on one test and the second test it was "1" regardless of actual gear selection. I am tempted to drop the valve body to look at the check balls but wanted your opinion.

    Hi Gary, almost positive this is the issue with my 2010 Sierra. Transmission was totally fine until I lost all of my forward gears. If I pull the tranny ignition fuse, it will pump full pressure and I can move forward to at least move the truck around so I know that it CAN go forward. Almost positive it's going to be this check ball issue. Once I drop the pan, how difficult will it be to drop the valve body from underneath the truck and are there any specific tips you can give before I do? I'm ready to do a lot of cursing this weekend. Thanks for a great video

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  5 років тому +4

      After the pan and filter are dropped, you need to pull the sleeve out or the valvebody will not come down and i wouldn't want for you to break the TCM. There are 6 bolts the hold the valvebody to the case, a special socket is needed, the size is EP10 Like a torx plus socket. The tcm will need to be unbolted from the valvebody, then the valvebody can be unbolted and split apart

Before it was going into limp mode and I could turn the truck off and then start it again and it would let me drive about 1/4 mile then go back into limp mode... When I start rolling I flip back to D and the truck goes through the upshot and down shifts just fine until I come back to the 1st gear spot.....then nothing. I have no check engine lights on. I have the same year escalade and originally I had this problem. Went in a transmission shop and they told me all that was bad was TCM and replaced this 7 times and end up taking it to the dealership twice. replaced brake switch and the cam actuator. Now I have engine light on with p0700 code and D solenoid stuck code on and it stays in limp mode with engine light on. Yes the TCM was Re-Flashed and had all the current updates to PCM. Hi, great video! My 2008 GMC Yukon Denali has the 6L80 tranny. Lately, as winter started, when I first start the car, there is about a 2-3 second delay of engagement from Park to reverse, Park to drive, or reverse to drive...and when it does engage, it noticeably jolts into gear. If I let the truck warm up about 1-2 minutes first, it definitely is not so bad. If I drive the car up to temp, then turn it off, then restart it, there are no issues and engagement occurs right away. I had a recent transmission oil change, the tranny fluid level is perfect, and the truck only has 75k miles. No other transmission issues noted...Any thoughts?

    Gary can i replace #1 check ball with a steel ball

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  7 років тому

      You really shouldn't , chrysler uses check balls made out of torlon(like hard plastic) you can use that. Is your number 1 ball worn out?

    • @jspat67
      @jspat67 7 років тому

      No it is not worn out. I just figured that the GM balls must be a softer plastic to wear like that so I found a ball out of 5R55 spare parts, plastic, measures the same, darker green color, thought I would put that in it..do you think that will be ok?

    Thumbs down for not calling out sizes of sockets.
    Got all these guys that want to film DIY you tube specials and they can't even call out socket sizes.
    Waste of time watching this garbage.
