"The movie was bad" Plenty of people would argue "The movie was good" Plenty of people would argue "The movie had a great soundtrack" No one would argue
You missed one. After they go down in that elevator, Flynn says “you’re messing with my Zen thing, man”. That line should’ve gotten a point of its own.
After what they've done with Star Wars and their insistence on pushing agendas through Captain Marvel, I doubt they'll do anything with the setting _or_ sell the rights due to a crippling fear of money, success and the belief that if they stop sucking their own scrotum for even an instant they'll fall off.
Finally, Tron Legacy is getting some love! I liked the movie, too, and I just don't get why everyone hated it! I suppose because it was so different from the original. Or maybe because the special effects are insanely cool, and people think "cool sfx = bad movie".
i think that they see the whole cyber world game flashy concept and feel like it's matrix for kids xD they look at all the good scenery and totally skip the music and all the underlying good use of cinematic techniques.
I TOTALLY agree with you, even on the show Big Bang Theory, they crack a joke about Tron Legacy being such a disappointment , makes absolutely no sense to me, this movie was stunning.
I remember seeing this film in the theater with my dad when it came out. He saw the original Tron in theaters and I had yet to see the first one. Needless to say both of us were just so blown away by it. The design of the environment of The Grid was just stunning and beautiful to look at. The soundtrack from Daft Punk was emotional and very well used in every aspect, not to mention their cameo as the DJ's in End of Line was just hilarious. The continuation of the story from the first Tron with new more modern elements was done decently well in my opinion. I loved all the callbacks to the first one including Flynn's original Lightcycle being used for a brief period. Plus one thing I will say is that many of the movies flaws in my opinion just helps even further to sell that you are actually on The Grid. Clu's cgi face looks fake, okay but if you think about it the reasoning behind that makes sense. Clu is a digitalized copy of Flynn's base code essentially. So if his face looks digital, wouldn't that make sense since they are in a digital universe? Many of the supporting casts acting is very stiff and lifeless, okay but remember they aren't playing living beings they are playing computer programs so if they are stiff and emotionless, that is what its supposed to be.
I know you posted this a while ago, but I figured I'd chime in and agree. You might also like the animated show, Tron: Uprising, if you like Legacy. It only got one season, but it's seriously underrated and tells a great story. Plus, it has a great voice cast, including Bruce Boxleitner and Elijah Wood.
@@koconnell968 And not forgetting Lance Henrikson ... who, like Michael Sheen, is always a win, especially as he has been killed by a Terminator, and an Alien Queen, to name but two ...
@@koconnell968 I saw the animated series and enjoyed it. I thought it actually would have been cool to see a live series based on the films. But the animated series was still great.
When this movie came out I was skeptical of its merits, re-watching it today it has aged remarkably well and now is one of my favorites. It's seriously underrated and I think Clu's depiction in the uncanny valley is actually perfect for the film's tone and setting. It shows that while he strives to be perfect there's still just something missing to him that you can't quite grasp.
@@crustycrustacean5267 Yesss!!! Recently got it recommended to me and finally starting watching it now that it's on Disney+. Not throwing any shade at the film, but the narrative in Uprising is FILM POTENTIAL! Really enjoying it so far.
Torn: Legacy was the first film I saw in modern 3D. It was also the first time I saw in proper 3D. Anaglyph 3D's never worked for me, and it turns out I don't actually have depth perception and just spent my whole life faking it, unaware that the world wasn't 'flat' for everyone else. It wasn't until I saw this flick that I understood that. When I saw it in theatres, my partner at the time was with me and apparently they barely even saw the movie, because they were too busy watching me. They'd never seen such a look of absolute childlike wonder on an adults face, and it was apparently adorable to watch me flinch from 'pop out' and I don't remember doing it, but apparently there were several parts of the movie I was so engrossed that I kept trying to reach out and touch bits of it, because my poor 'I don't see depth' brain now being forced into seeing it by the 3D was telling me that light cycle was RIGHT THERE in touching distance and I wanted to touch it. I also cried, several times, because of the sheer beauty and 'rightness' of what I was seeing. Apparently a lot of people had this reaction with Pandora, though I missed Avatar in theatres, something I still kick myself over. But The Grid is more a world I want to live in. Every time I've seen it again it has been amazing, but what I wouldn't give to see this in theatres again in Real3D or whatever the fuck they call it so I can enjoy that over again.
"Anaglyph 3D's never worked for me, and it turns out I don't actually have depth perception and just spent my whole life faking it, unaware that the world wasn't 'flat' for everyone else." Lol wtf how even, all people just thinking you have terrible reflexes or... for not being able to catch anything. Cool story, and wild you never knew you didn't have depth perception and even wilder that nobody around you ever noticed. Damn impressive also really cool and, well for lack of a better word, cinematic way to find out.
As some one with a vision problem resulting in only having a single normally working eye, resulting in a situation wherein I cannot determine whether I am using visual clues or or depth perception, as such I never had 3D movie experiences other people I have talked to have experienced. I am glad that someone with a vision problem got to find out what it was like not to have it.
I realize I'm commenting on a video that's almost two years old, but I have to say that it's so awesome to find another fan of this film (we seem so few and far between). I watched your Sunshine review before this, and it's like we share the same brain. I was overcome with emotion after watching this movie in the theatre, and that doesn't often happen for me. It was an overwhelming feeling of the sublime. I watched it with a group of friends but drove home alone, and when I sat down in my car (before driving) I actually started weeping for a full 5 minutes. It wasn't sadness or joy as much as just being emotionally overwhelmed by what I just experienced. The visuals, the music, Quorra's reaction to her first sunrise, the whole concept of the ISOs... This movie is, on so many levels, unique and beautiful and sublime. Anyway, thanks for the video and for sharing your joy for this film.
Man, I've always wanted to see this film in the theaters, every time this movie hits cable o satellite im there watching it, i feel exactly the same way but cant let myself cry and idk why, is a masterpiece of a movie and the overwhelming amount of emotions this movie brings to me just cant be described, the relationship between Sam and Kevin and how he sacrifies himself, the naive and cute Quorra, the effects, the music. It's the best movie I've ever seen and i didn't watch it on cinemas but its truly a perfect movie
dcprime - This is one of my favorite movies! And I completely agree with you on this. I'm glad that comments and this movie can fee so evergreen impactful.
@@Lite727 am I wrong though? Like they’re both his creations who wanted to be what he wanted. They both wanted his love, but both, in a way, were neglected. When given the ultimate option, he chose one over the other
@@james_no_last_name and CLU despises Sam for that very reason. The half brother that Flynn raised and chose over him. It must have seriously killed him inside knowing Flynn chose some natural born offspring that was designed to have no purpose unlike CLU who’s sole existence was to build the perfect system which he did and practically everything that he asked but still in the end the old man favored Sam. “The thing about perfection is that it is unknowable”. You can’t help but pitty Clu, he’s just a scared confused desperate child begging, screaming, smacking against the glass to get his father’s acknowledgment. His approval, his respect, and love. Very tragic, can’t help but pitty him.
@@Lite727 And when CLU says, "I've been waiting a long time for this." just signifies that he's always despised Sam, even before he'd met him. And in the final fight itself. When Sam just wales on him, CLU doesn't even care. He just picks up Sam and tosses him like he was nothing. We even see CLU pull out his disk, ready to just kill Sam instead of getting Flynn's disk. CLU has always known he was better, stronger, smarter, faster even. But he only wanted to be loved more. he only wanted to just be loved in general.
It would. But that's just prolonging the same answer ... "What am I?" "You're me without a son. You don't understand."ahhhhhhhhh" *boom explosion" they remove that because the ultimate answer that doesn't need follow up question. CLU doesn't know or know how to feel about a spawning of his own as he was programed to be the embodiment of Flynn's dad's goals and dreams. Sadly. His son wasn't part of his selfish dream.
Ever notice that Zuse says "Libations for everybody!" instead of say, "Drinks on the house," or "Drinks all around"? Libations are drinks poured and offered specifically to honor a god. Zuse (Zeus) made everyone drink in honor of himself. How self indulgent, how hedonistic. No matter how well he served clu, clu was going to kill him, such an act of self gratification would have no doubt been seen as imperfect in his perfect system. The fact he says libations also clues us in that he (at the time known as Castor) is actually Zuse, the figure that the resistance is looking to for leadership.
There is one thing you got wrong: "Zuse" is definitely not meant to refer to "Zeus" (which is pronounced VERY different, in english you might transcribe it to 'the-oos'). It definitely refers to Konrad Zuse, the guy who invented the programmable computer.
No doubt it is a reference to Konrad zuse. But they never pronounce his name the-oos. The only ever pronounce his name identical to zeus. And in a visual medium the way they pronounce his name is far more important then how its spelt on the script.
Jerky .Murky well ... Konrad Zuse would be pronounced "tsu-se", Zeus is "Tse-oos". It is wrong either way, so the pronounciation won't help to solve that question.
The effects are amazing, the music is one you have a hard time finding somewhere else... But people are idiots and complain when something is different...
@@razorfett147 With that opinion. I feel like you are on the side of the people that don’t like Tron. If you were talking about the sequels I would agree.
I won't deny you on that one. Still favor Derezzed but End of Line is also an awesome track. Reminds me of going to all those awesome E3 parties in the mid-2000s
THANK GODFOR SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY RECOGNISES THE AWESOMENESS OF THIS FILM. The idea of ppl criticising it and Disney pulling the plug on TRON 3 is Preposterous and just Dumb... sorry i just love Tron
Hasan Shaikh lol yeah don't worry Tron 3 is in the works, its said to revolve around Sam and Quorra and how Quorra reacts to the outside world. I don't think they will return to the grid but they probably will since Tron is still alive
Bella Winchester real life is plain and boring af. Those outlands in the grid looked sooo stunning! Tron lives, which leaves me to believe that there is still a chance.. maybe they have to go back to the grid??
@@bubsyfinnigan4462 I just wish the first time they show him, when he is not in the game, that they used make up or better special effects. In-game fake Bridges makes sense.
Yeah, one of the issues comes from the properties of skin. I saw it described in a video by VFX experts. Skin is transparent and the tissue and pores stretched a certain way that character model couldn't capture. So while it looks fine as a still image, once the model starts to move, it looks play-doughy and our eyes easily pick up the idea that something looks off. Imo it's not as noticeable when it shows Bridges on the 80s TV screens, but it is noticeable everywhere else. And I think it actually Benefits CLU, especially when when he's in the same shots as the real Jeff Bridges, because the character really is a digital program created in Bridges' likeness.
I think they cancelled it because is was technically a bomb (not in a good way) in the box office. :/ Disney is too worried about what the critics think and their income. They don't want to really expand on the idea of new ideas. Just reuse the same formula over and over again...
Heck, yes ... Usually I don't buy videos for sale on UA-cam ... but Tron: Uprising, especially as Bruce Boxleitner was back as Tron was more than enough ... and the rest of the voice casting, including Lance Henrikson, was just so incredible, and on point ...
OKAY, BRACE YOURSELVES PEOPEL!! At 3:37, OKAY. I BELIEVE THIS DESERVES LIKE 20,000 POINTS RIGHT HERE!! At 3:37, Kevin Flynn steps "Out of Bounds" in regards to his house. TO BE SPECIFIC, The "Light Wall" is actually the confines of the program that defines Flynn's secret hide away. I explained this in another video when someone reacted to this film. There are only FOUR PEOPLE in this film, who can do this. KEVIN FLYNN, SAM FLYNN, QUORA & ZUSE. To put it another way, if you're playing a video game, the game map might shooow, other places beyond it's borders, but can never reach there. In this scene, KEVIN FLYNN is clipping through a "DIGITAL WALL". Imagine Kevin FLYNN'S place as a private chat room. A place where he & Quora can hide out, and the server & it's moderators, (CLUE) can't listen in. This fact is shown REPEATEDLY, throughout the film. From the fact that Quora's vehicle can go off road, but the light cycles can't. They Derez the moment that they touch a surface that isn't compatible with their programing. Even outside in scenes, you may see people crossing roads, but NO ONE, walks outside of a line. From their point of view, such places don't even exist. But for SAM FLYNN, we are shown a large empty street in the beginning. Even things like the bridge to the transporter or MORE SUBTLY, the stairs that ZUSE shows off. Really, what you're looking at, is a established link between two digital locations. With the "End Of Line" club especially, Zuse's private quarters is like a private message box. Just like Kevin FLYNN'S home. Then, when he's talking about the destination, he, "STEPS OUTSIDE THROUGH THE LIGHT WALL JUST LONG ENOUGH TO SAY THE WORDS "ACROSS THE SEA OF SIMULATION". If you view his club as a chat room, and his quarters as a private DM, then in stepping outside, ZUSE is shouting a line of dialogue out loud in common, where the moderators can flag it, and trace it back to that chat room. Which is EXACTLY, how he lets Clue Know to send guards there. Zuse is CLEARLY one of the first original programs created by Kevin Flynn to monitor the system. He points out that he, "Designed the stairs himself". So he KNOWS, about programming. Which is basically saying that he knows how to create matter out of thin air as far as others are concerned. I believe only the FIRST GENERATION programs can probably do this. I do not believe CLUE can. If he could, he'd redesign his program options long ago. But later when Clue invades Kevin FLYNN'S place, the sycophant, drops a mirrored apple, and staggers back words when it makes sound, but doesn't derezz. THAT'S, THE POINT. Everything in FLYNN'S apartment place is REAL. NOT, a recreation. Even Clue looks at the mirrored surface and has a flashback, because he's never seen his reflection except for on the day of his birth. So at 3:37, what KEVIN FLYNN IS ACTUALLY DOING, IS BREAKING THE LAWS OF PHYSICS AND REALITY AS THE GRID KNOWS IT. But to him, he's just going outside to get some fresh air.
""Don't Stop Believing" would have been more on the nose" The song playing in the movie is called Separate Ways, also know by a much more situation-appropriate title, Worlds Apart. You sure about that one, chief?
Harvey Dent Two face unfortunately they pulled the plug on any further production for it. Because "there wouldn't be a large enough presence of theater-goers" or something like that, it all boiled down to their fear that nobody would pay to go see it and they'd lose money
Dude, Michael Sheen KILLED this role He’s literally one of my favorite characters in the movie and he was on screen for like 3 minutes total or something. He’s just having fun and acting like a lunatic and it’s FAN-tastic.
I may be one of the only people on Earth to truly enjoy this movie. I mean, the I'd buy the soundtrack for $1,000,000, the visuals are FREAKING epic, and I just love the concept!
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU! I fell in love with the movie ever since I first got in touch with it. From the amazing soundtrack Daft Punk gave us to the plot and the visual perfections! All the actors did absolutely great. I rewatch the movie alot, and watch just the small important scenes alot too. It's just that i'm in love, like wow... I would die if there would be a Tron 3 but I heard Disney pulled the plug because Tron wasn't the money maker they expected it to be...
I thought the conversation between Kevin and Sam on the transport was realistic. If you didn't see your son for twenty year you would be curious and ask questions.
It was a lot longer than 20 years. Time moves much more slowly in the computer. Some sources say it is about a 50 to 1 difference. So around 1,000 years.
You missed adding a "win" for one of my favorite pieces of visual spectacle in the film. In the 3D version, the first 20mins of the film (when they're in the "Real World") is all focused to 2D. When you hit the digital world, you get blown away by the literal addition of another dimension. Plus, it's one of the better films for 3d, in part because of the inorganic lighting and spectacular action sequences. It's my go-to film if I ever want to introduce someone to 3d (not that that's much of a thing anymore lol)
I love everything about Quorra as a character from her backstory, to the hair and costume and of course Olivia Wilde's understated performance that brought her to life.
I think Tron: Legacy is the most underrated movie I've ever seen! It's amazing! Maybe because I'm a progammer but everything about it just speaks to me.
🌎In a world filled with violent, vulgar, non creative and non artistic movies nowadays This Movie touches feelings of love, wonder, team, perfection, loneliness, fun, trust, naiveness, adventure, repent, family, & sacrifice. ....wow. There are many scenes I love in TronLegacy, (When Quorra aks Sam to describe the sun, When Flynn shares when Clu first rebelled, Rinzler's slowmo jumps, & of course the Final Flynn-Clu confrontation, .......but the Light Jet scene, towards the end, when Flynn recognizes the danger of the situation and asks Tron only 1 sincere question: "Tron, what have you become?" and Rinzler(Tron) internally struggles, ...but Repents... turns back to the good side, and helps his friends, that scene along with the musical piano notes, I find it deeply profound. The Soundtrack is a 1 in a million masterpiece, and of the many amazing tracks in the Album (Recognizer, Flynn lives, Son of Flynn, Disk Wars, The Grid) I believe "Finale" is the most complete & powerful track in the album. :)
I'm on board with you on this one. When I saw it, I loved it. Wasn't perfect, but I still loved it. Then I heard people hated it. And Futurama made fun of it. I was miffed.
I just watched the movie a week ago for the first time and it made an instant place on my top 5 list. This movie really is a masterpiece. Like everything in this movie is great, i'm not able to really describe it. The only negative aspect is, that it took me so long to finally watch it.
I got to watch it for the first time Last December on Disney+, and I was amazed and blown away by it. I’ve now watched it more than 5 times, and never get bored of it.
Michael Sheen is always a win ... *Ding* But seriously, look at all the films he has been in. Although he isn't quite Daniel Day Lewis, he is still a chameleon, in which he sinks so far into the rôle, you can easily forget it's him ...
I don't think anyone really considered the soundtrack bad. Of course, there are people who don't like the genre but I think almost all of them would admit it's very fitting to the movie and couldn't have thought of a better artist. Personally, this movie was one of the major reasons Daft Punk became one of my favourite bands.
Just a little aesthetic thing that I absolutely loved about Rinzler was the little growling noises he'd make. It's just barely there, and it's like its muffled by the black, emotionless mask he wears, but it's there, and it's a sound that makes you feel at your core like Rinzler is not just an animal, but a deadly, intelligent, calculated being of death and destruction.
CinemaWins Oh you won't regret it. Tron gets some action, not a lot, but it's still great. It's the showcasing of Tron's fighting skill we wanted to see more of since the first film and especially after we saw him as Rinzler. Also, there's a two parter that's either the best or one of the best of the show and it forshadows Rinzler. Just look up the trailer, yes it got it's own trailer that's how great it was. It's called Scars.
@@notlNSIGHT yeah that's what I meant I knew he goes by the renegade but couldn't remember the name of the show. It's really good though. Also after watching it, I noticed that Rinzler has the 4 tron squares on his chest.
Tacobell1384 God I remember watching that show, it was so good! I doubt it would though, because Disney XD kept pushing it to late times and it was way too mature
"I fight... for the Users" - Tron I'll always remember that scene. I, sadly, didn't get to see the first movie so I don't know Tron's character better then anyone else but that scene showed me that Tron is 2badass4me... I hope he ended up surviving which is doubtful.
Tron in the original movies was a program created to battle the corruption in the grid. He was a resistance hero whose goal was to liberate the grid from the hands of the MCP and return it to the hands of the other programs and the users. In the original, before Flynn was revealed to the programs as a user, Tron was the only one who actually believed in them, and was a sort of held-sacrificing hero, willing to give himself for the greater good and save everyone. He could be a little abrasive at times, but he was never a bad guy.
DUUUDE... Aside from this being probably my favorite movie, I must point out that the smooth score for when Rinzler is first slinging disks gives me goosebumps. You can feel how professional and sleek Rinzler is, all thanks to the score.
The first movie referenced more on the whole programming side of things and was pretty great, but not as great as this on imo. The first starts off as a normal quest for Flynn to find some data but turns into a full grid experience! It was made in 1982 so don't expect too much, however it had the best animation of its time. Worth the watch if you haven't seen it yet.
The first Tron changed my life. I was 8 years old when I saw these supposed screenshot inserts of the movie in a novel but couldn't believe such fantastic imagery could actually be part of a movie. Then I saw the trailer and was blown away. I HAD TO SEE THIS FILM! After finally seeing the movie, I was awe-struck. Nothing like it had ever been done before. Perhaps Star Wars, but this was something very unique. Tron: Legacy had big shoes to fill because these days any production house can make a movie so technically advanced that it's hard to impress the average movie-goer
I thought this was going to be a terrible copycat channel made by someone who got salty from CinemaSin videos. I apologize. I was wrong. Instead I was greeted by good, valid points and humor that could rival the original CinemaSins. TRON is a really underrated movie IMO. Beautiful effects, ASTOUNDING soundtrack. Even as someone who isnt a Tron fan, I love this movie.
Cancer Police Yeah, whereas CinemaSins breaks your heart when it picks your favorite movie apart or maybe even ruins a film for you by pointing out everything bad in it, CinemaWins makes you feel good when they praise your favs for what it does RIGHT. I was honestly sick and tired of seeing people hate on every movie that isn't Marvel or Disney animation, like DC movies post-Nolan, the Star Wars prequels, and even Michael Bay doesn't deserve the amount of hate he gets... not all of it, anyway. But I found this channel, and I rarely watch CinemaSins anymore, because they're so cynical, it's almost contagious. We don't need to give people MORE reasons to hate movies, especially ones that everyone hates already thanks to critics swaying people's opinions! Batman v Superman anyone? It wasn't that bad... it just got overhyped. And Suicide Squad was great! Even Jared Leto at least tried something NEW for this Joker! And everyone hates him because he tried to change things. That's so unfair. Anyway, this channel helps me see the good in even the worst movies, and I love it for that.
@@MrMattogreen25 I watched CinemaWins because it was recommended at HISHE. I then watch CinemaSins again and it just isn't the same feeling anymore. CinemaWins shared the same humor and makes jokes like some videos on Cinema Sins, but offer better appreciation to movies. In the end, I ditch Cinemasins.
I saw this movie when I was 9 and 10 years later it is still one of my favorite movies. Daft Punk and this movie have shaped my youth and made me love music so much. When I was younger I would play this soundtrack and use styrofoam plates with holes cut in the middle with paint and play disk wars agent my brother.
broo the soundtrack is so fire. especially Overture, The Grid, The Son of Flynn, Recognizer, Armory, Arena, Rinzler, The Game Has Changed, Outlands, Adagio for TRON, Nocturne, End of Line, Derezzed, Fall, Solar Sailer, Rectifier, Disc Wars, C.L.U., Arrival, Flynn Lives, TRON Legacy(End Titles), Finale, Sea of Simulation, Encom, Pt. II, Encom Pt. I, Round One, Castor, Reflections, Sunrise Prelude, Father and Son, Outlands, Pt, II. oh wait, thats the entire soundtrack
I love comment sections like this It’s always “this movie is underrated” ( I agree) But regardless the movie looks and sounds gorgeous. also why do people not like this movie ( I’m legitimately asking)
The truth is the story is both a but disconnected from the first film, while also kind of a re hash. It also came out in a time where the romantic subplot was kind of saturated. So critics and armchair critics described the movie as all style no substance. They make some good criticisms, the script hardly takes many risks. But they failed to appreciate that sometimes style IS substance. Honestly, if you stripped all the dialogue from this movie and presented it as an album length music video, it would go down in history. Kinda like Interstella 555. I still love this movie deeply.
Similar to Alejandro Rivas above me, but the major point I think why people hate on it is because the plot doesn't try very hard. It's not a complex-plot movie, but it becomes truly phenomenal once you suffer from fridge-logic over the thematic points of the movie. My favorite is the implicit comparison between Flynn who gives this inspiring and positive speech about the digital frontier in 1985 to cheers in the real world, versus CLU who gives a *nearly identical speech to his army* to the same cheering over conquering Earth. I think this is because Flynn was supported in the real world while CLU was abandoned, but that's not plot or action, it's character or theme. Tron: Legacy is all theme, character and score, and I think this is where it loses most people. There's not a tremendous amount of action to pull a person back as an "action-movie" and there's not a lot of plot to pull a person back for its "plot", and I think this is where Tron: Legacy just suffered from bad luck in that regard. There seems to be a trend in the past 4-5 years towards movies and media that are character and theme/message centric over plot and action which 2010 and years surrounding it seemed to have more of a trend towards plot and action as being the desired points of a movie. tl;dr Tron: Legacy wasn't the right kind of movie to come out in 2010 the way it is, and it's not what most people expect.
@@goldenshadowproductions I agree, having just watched Avatar: The Way of Water do a similar thing for 3 hours and hit the Box Office top 10. I always appreciated movies that create a world to dream about over story-driven ones anyway.
All the outside world parts of this movie made me fall in love with Vancouver. The final shot on the Lions Gate Bridge is truly incredible. Also how could you not mention Sam’s super cool container house on the North Shore?
Its so true the people worked so damn hard on this movie but no one really liked it. It only got a 51 on rotten tomatoes. Like come on people this movie was the coolest movie I have seen in many years. Like and reply if you agree.
Johnathan Angel this movie was badass, I loved it! The Soundtrack, the special effects, even the story was interesting! One of the best film I’ve ever seen.
This is also one of my favorite movies of all time. The visuals and soundtrack are phenomenal. If you have watched the 3D version (which I saw in theaters), the start of the movie up until he goes into the Grid is 2D. Once he is transported into the Grid, it changes to 3D. It was mindblowingly amazing. I'd highly recommend getting the 3D version and a VR headset (such as the Rift or Vive). It is a sight to see. Thank you again for a great video. :-)
+Michael Yanni One of my biggest regrets is never seeing it in 3D in theaters. I actually saw it twice in theaters but I've always just been turned off too 3D. It might be time to invest in a 3D TV or a VR headset and get the full experience.
+CinemaWins This movie and, strangely enough, the 3D version of Jurassic Park are the best 3D movies I've seen. Every other movie had no real benefit of being 3D.
+Michael Yanni Me too!!!! I enjoyed the original tron of course. Seeing this in IMAX 3D was one of the best cinema experiences of my life. I LOVE this movie
General problem was that people didn't know it was a sequel, but this movie is great in my book! And the soundtrack, man the soundtrack is a masterpiece, and it could have been better, Daft Punk was forced to put some "classical" vibe in it, so it wasn't 100% techno
Not exactly forced per se. They were supposed to do a full techno version, but by learning to work with an orchestra they learned to re-vitalise acoustic elements instead of going full on electronica. Did you know that working on TRON: Legacy was the kick-start for them to work on Random.Access.Memories?
I.... what? No, the symphonic elements are what make it so good. The Grid, TRON, is about the blending and merging of the organic and the technological. Human in a virtual space. The entire soundtrack is BUILT around that. Starting off with the entirely acoustic orchestra and adding in the electronic.
I watched Tron 2-3 times within 2 days, and I found this video I'm the arcade scene, in the song 'seperate ways', replace 'Love' with 'Tron' SOMEDAY TRON WILL FIND YOU
Finally! I wish I could like this video more than once. This is my actual favorite movie of all time, I am a strong fan from when I was a little child and when I saw this in theaters it absolutely blew me away I agree with everything set in this video especially the father-son dynamic which was clearly obvious
You missed a Win - CLU's face when Flynn says "Because he's my son." He did everything *perfectly*, fulfilled his creator's (un/subconscious) wishes, and yet it was nothing compared to biological ties.
I wonder if anyone realizes that Journey's "Separate Ways" playing at the arcade was an Easter egg to the first Tron movie, being the song that played during the arcade scenes in that movie
You should have left in the wins for all of the things you mentioned loving about the movie. It would have been a truer reflection of it's score. Fantastic movie!!
Also it would be very cool if Alan Bradley got to meet his program and that whole side of the story got explored. We were robbed of this relationship is my point. Also Bruce Boxleitner is criminally underused in the whole franchise.
@@kj6731 that would actually be incredible, Tron being “forgiven” by his “maker,” because although Alan and Tron don’t seem to have interacted since they lost contact in the original movie way back in the 80s, I still imagine having someone who looks like you tell you you aren’t irredeemably lost or unforgivable would be such an emotionally powerful moment
That transition man, from the BMX to the Ducati. As a Motorcycle fanatic, as a Daft Punk lover. The shots, the music, the sound of the bike. Makes the hair on my neck stand up every, damn, time.
So I finally revisited this movie (mostly just to hear Daft Punk’s soundtrack again) and after YEARS of watching and learning things from this channel, I can honestly say that I enjoyed the movie a lot more than I did when I was 17. 17-year-old me was sold on the marketing of this movie which was “LIGHT CYCLES GO ZOOM!!! DISC WARS GO BOOM!!!” and so once that stuff was over, I was bored. 27-year-old me has gained appreciation for movie scores and cinematography. I kept thinking how well this movie could have worked as a modern-day silent film because the score is perfect and every shot when they’re in the grid is also perfect. But 27-year-old me also appreciates the idea of creators vs. created, the ideals of perfection, etc. I love Flynn’s line at the end when he apologizes to Clu about giving him the mandate of perfection because he himself didn’t even know what it meant at the time. Tl;dr this channel has given me a lot of tools to understanding movies and I enjoyed this movie a lot more after not having seen it for 10 years 😂
The only Sin about this movie, is that Daft Punk was not even nominated for their phenomenal Soundtrack for this movie.

Yeah, a Big Lebowski type phrase!
Disney needs to stop wasting money on remaking and reboot and give us a Tron 3.
They're too busy milking Star Wars for all it's worth.
It's also funny that they are more forgettable than this one
Naw they need to sell it to someone who's political agenda isn't pseudo racist sjw feminazi bullshit.
After what they've done with Star Wars and their insistence on pushing agendas through Captain Marvel, I doubt they'll do anything with the setting _or_ sell the rights due to a crippling fear of money, success and the belief that if they stop sucking their own scrotum for even an instant they'll fall off.
And while they're at it, the should continue the animated series that they dropped right where it was getting gooood
4:47 if you pause it, that is the director of the original Tron, he's the bartender
I like how he’s kinda looking at how Sheen is acting and how the rest of the set is reacting to see how well it’s going lol

+sfynx Well The first Tron Was before the Matrix
Tron was released in 1982...The Matrix was released in 1999. Both were landmark science fiction technical achievements and concepts.
Maybe because of the cgi use. I however, loved every second.

Yeah man!
Correct.
So much this. Clu is *supposed* to be Uncanny Valley, because for all his talk about "perfection", he's an imperfect representation of Flynn.
THANK YOU, that's what I've been saying for awhile now!

This is so pure 😭❤️
"Anaglyph 3D's never worked for me, and it turns out I don't actually have depth perception and just spent my whole life faking it, unaware that the world wasn't 'flat' for everyone else." also the way they used 3D in the same way Wizard of Oz used color was great move

As some one with a vision problem resulting in only having a single normally working eye, resulting in a situation wherein I cannot determine whether I am using visual clues or or depth perception, as such I never had 3D movie experiences other people I have talked to have experienced.
If only others could see it the same way...

This comment gave me chills
Astute observation! I did not notice that.
Indeed.

2020 here and yes

I am absolutely blown away. I first saw this movie in 2013, I was born in 2009. Christ. This is genius.

perfection, loneliness, fun, trust, naiveness, adventure, repent, family, & sacrifice. ....wow.
There are many scenes I love in TronLegacy, (When Quorra aks Sam to
describe the sun, When Flynn shares when Clu first rebelled, Rinzler's
slowmo jumps, & of course the Final Flynn-Clu confrontation,
.......but the Light Jet scene, towards the end, when Flynn recognizes
the danger of the situation and asks Tron only 1 sincere question:
"Tron, what have you become?" and Rinzler(Tron) internally struggles,

in the album. :)

This movie had one of the best soundtrack ever man.... Daft Punk FTW.... I love this movie....
I've watched this movie over 10 times and I'm happy tht some new people find out about the movie. i remember going to the cinema to watch it
and i also think it's a hidden gem
I got to watch it for the first time Last December on Disney+, and I was amazed and blown away by it. I’ve now watched it more than 5 times, and never get bored of it.
the best thing about the movie is that the cg is way ahead of its time
Thiswas made in 2010 and it's still ahead of OUR time!
I agree. Too bad this didn't get an Oscar nomination for Best Visual Effects.
Olivier Dubreuil-Gagnon me too
Master Penguin I know, right!
Captain Random
Let alone win it.
Yup Tron was really good....under rated on a whole new level.
Micheal sheen
thats it
only him
he's the best
and also the soundtrack
yes
Michael Sheen is always a win ... *Ding*
But seriously, look at all the films he has been in. Although he isn't quite Daniel Day Lewis, he is still a chameleon, in which he sinks so far into the rôle, you can easily forget it's him ...
@@nigelft Seriously... compare Sheen-as-Hiddleston/Loki in Tron versus Sheen as fuddy-duddy angel Aziraphale in Good Omens.
I couldn't stop listening to daft punk after seeing this movie. No idea why people hated it.
I really haven't the foggiest idea either, given that the kind of people that WOULD like EDM are the kind of people that watched this movie.
At Least we have Legacy, Tron, Evolution and Uprising so that pretty awesome
Evolution is my absolute favorite game ever, and I totally wish there was a chance of the game being updated, but I doubt that'll ever happen.
Its pretty Awesome what would need Updating Aside from Multiplayer stuff Possibly?
And The Grid from Kingdom Hearts 2 and The Grid (Legacy Version) from Kingdom Hearts HD: Dream Drop Distance. Right??
Okay I'll let myself out.
MP2066 the fact that they canceled Uprising after a cliffhanger like that still pisses me off until now.
Primo me too :(
Just a little aesthetic thing that I absolutely loved about Rinzler was the little growling noises he'd make. It's just barely there, and it's like its muffled by the black, emotionless mask he wears, but it's there, and it's a sound that makes you feel at your core like Rinzler is not just an animal, but a deadly, intelligent, calculated being of death and destruction.
@@abhinandanil7775
You sir. I like you sir. Tell me you've seen Tron Uprising
I could tell you that, but it would be a half lie. I started it. I really want to watch it. It's worth going back to?
CinemaWins Most definitely for the visuals alone. How far did you get?
Maybe the second episode. The animation put me off a little. But I'm definitely willing to give it another try.
Alright, I just watched the trailer. I'm back in.
Hit like if you want TRON 3
Done
Personally I just want Tron renegade to get a season 2.
@@notlNSIGHT yeah that's what I meant I knew he goes by the renegade but couldn't remember the name of the show. It's really good though. Also after watching it, I noticed that Rinzler has the 4 tron squares on his chest.
Plot Line; took so long to make that Jeff Bridges was forced to transfer his consciousness to a computer.
Tacobell1384 God I remember watching that show, it was so good! I doubt it would though, because Disney XD kept pushing it to late times and it was way too mature
This film is pure magic. I love your breakdown and explanation. It was beautiful and makes me want to re-watch the movie for the 100th time.

"I fight... for the Users" - Tron
I'll always remember that scene.
Mister Smiley he is alive lol
He's played by Bruce Boxleitner. Bruce Boxleitner is always a win.
brigidtheirish hell yeah he is! Tron, Sheridan, doesn't matter who he plays, his acting is always 10/10
Every Movie in existence: Wanna See Action?
Tron: YA’LLMST WANNA HEAR THE GREATEST SOUNDTRACK IN EXISTENCE
DUUUDE... Aside from this being probably my favorite movie, I must point out that the smooth score for when Rinzler is first slinging disks gives me goosebumps. You can feel how professional and sleek Rinzler is, all thanks to the score.
I never understood for a second why people disliked this movie. I thought it was phenomenal. I never saw the original though, was it too different?
The first movie referenced more on the whole programming side of things and was pretty great, but not as great as this on imo. The first starts off as a normal quest for Flynn to find some data but turns into a full grid experience! It was made in 1982 so don't expect too much, however it had the best animation of its time. Worth the watch if you haven't seen it yet.
WHAT???? YOU'VE NEVER SEEN THE ORIGINAL??????? That is an absolute sin!!!
+sirlordwhitman How did it live up to your own expectations?
I honestly can't understand it. I feel the same way about the Amazing Spider-man movies.
For every Yang that exists, there must be a Yin.

I listen to this soundtrack all the time; it's just great.

II, Encom Pt. I, Round One, Castor, Reflections, Sunrise Prelude, Father and Son, Outlands, Pt, II. oh wait, thats the entire soundtrack
I love comment sections like this
It’s always “this movie is underrated” ( I agree)
But regardless the movie looks and sounds gorgeous. also why do people not like this movie ( I’m legitimately asking)
@@efulmer8675 Adding to what you say, I do think that this movie would actually be recieved better if it came out today
@@goldenshadowproductions I agree, having just watched Avatar: The Way of Water do a similar thing for 3 hours and hit the Box Office top 10.

Its the greatest thing I ever seen actually
I watched this in 3D it was mesmerizing

General problem was that people didn't know it was a sequel, but this movie is great in my book! And the soundtrack, man the soundtrack is a masterpiece, and it could have been better, Daft Punk was forced to put some "classical" vibe in it, so it wasn't 100% techno
I agree, it's my absolute favorite soundtrack for any movie
+Alexander Feldman I second that, gotta love Daft Punk.
I know, the soundtrack is just beautiful. It manages to capture the wonder, sadness, loss, and creation of this movie.
This is easily one of the greatest visual movies EVER created
THANK YOU! I loved Tron when I was a kid in the 80s, and I loved Tron: Legacy when it was released. One of my rainy day movies for sure!

2:24 Now that has to be the best line said in the whole movie.
I wonder if anyone realizes that Journey's "Separate Ways" playing at the arcade was an Easter egg to the first Tron movie, being the song that played during the arcade scenes in that movie
I was lucky to watch it in IMAX when it was released - I must say THAT WAS AWESOME!

6:24 That face haunts my nightmares.
yeah, the CGI face of Clu was really bad.
You could argue that the CGI makes sense because it is a computer program.
Edward Probst why are the faces of the other programs so much better then?
Because they aren't trying to recreate the younger version of an actor in the movie?
Edward Probst Sorry, apparently I'm stupid. Of course you are right :D
You should have left in the wins for all of the things you mentioned loving about the movie. It would have been a truer reflection of it's score. Fantastic movie!!
Saw this movie in theatres with my father, absolutely fell in love with the world of Tron and went back home wanting to watch the original movie.
I really want a sequel where it follows Tron and his redemption from being rinzler. Mainly because Tron/Rinzler was such a good character in legacy.
Not sure how you missed it but 100 Win's for CLU's epic reveal walk-in scene.
Tl;dr this channel has given me a lot of tools to understanding movies and I enjoyed this movie a lot more after not having seen it for 10 years 😂
I really like the visual, the music, and the overall concept.
I really loved how they were able to digitize Jeff Bridges to how he looked back in the 80's for Clu :)
Ahh man. You're making me want to watch this movie.
