19:07 it's actually such a brilliant decision. You cannot POSSIBLY make Otto turning into Octoputs as something we couldn't predict. So instead they made it into something we wholeheartedly didn't want to happen and all these little moments Pete couldve been there for Otto but the situation was always above him is like Otto slipping through our fingers piece by piece until it's too late
This was the first game I reached a true 100% completion (You get a suit for it. It is Pete in his underwear because of course, it is). I enjoyed playing the game so much that I wanted to devote the extra time and effort. Normally, as long as I get the story, I was content. But this game made me want to explore every nook and cranny
Something I love about that Sinister Six moment shows how Peter is better than them individually but not together. Each time he lands a hit or gets the upper hand they take it right back. It subtly shows how Spider Man can't take them on together while still showing off how strong he is.
I genuinely cried during the final encounter between otto and peter, hearing peter's voice simultaneously having remorse, sadness and anger, and otto's filled with sorry and despiration really hit me in the feels
@@turbovirgin924 nah he also says later in the game that he needs to find a stable job because the bugle part time photographer wasn't going to cut it. I think he just inherited the house in queens.
Which doesn't really make sense since the plushie collectible has Peter saying it couldn't be licensed for mass production for secret identity reasons.
That “Peter where are you going?” Line from Doc Oc really made me tear up about thinking all the sacrifices Spider man has to take to make the “Good Decision”
Gives so much meaning to her "When you help someone, you help everyone." May was Peter's rock. In SM2, it definitely had an impact and the symbiote used it to shackle his control
You didn't cover it, but the line where Peter exclaims to Otto, "You were everything I wanted to be!" always sticks with me. It's probably the most unfiltered moment we get from him. The entire game, Peter is working towards being like Otto, and the illusion of that goal is completely shattered. Everything he wants to accomplish not as Spider-Man, or the facade of Peter, but the real Peter Parker is what Otto was in his eyes. He doesn't just want to fight villains or be the kid who helps out his Aunt, he wants to be a scientist who contributes to the world and helps innocent people outside of just saving their lives. On top of that, all of his work he's done in pursuit of this goal was taken by Otto and transformed into the very thing he's trying to fight. Not to mention, Yuri Lowenthal in that entire scene may put on the single best acting I've seen in a game.
17:57 i completely relate to how miles reacts; his way of mourning his father is similar to mine- being alone and not talking to anyone else. i find it awkward to try and explain my feelings to a friend or even get hugged be my own mom. just doesn't click with my way of coping, and i would rather lay down in my bedroom by myself and listen to music.
34:12 Personally, I think Norman’s smiling because he realizes spider man just let him go, and he also (to some extent) understands he’s just as, if not more in the wrong than doc ock, and again, spider man let him go anyways
His character is a metaphor for addiction I think. Probably reading too much into it. But he’s keeps wanting more energy to feel like he has a purpose. And yet doesn’t want the life of crime. He only did what he does to fuel his hunger.
It was really funny being in the Spider Armor MK3 for the cutscene where Miles punches Spidey, cause it was just like "Yeah, punching metal armor would hurt".
The last scene of Peter and may always makes me think. Around the time this game came out my grandma was really sick and we all kinda knew she wasn’t going to have much time with us, looking at this scene now that I’ve had to live without her for a few years reminds me of her. It doesn’t make me cry ( cause I’m a heartless monster) but it always makes me think of her. Miss you grandma
That ending with Peter having to hold himself back from saving May's life just hurts makes me cry every single time I watch it. Spider-man is a true hero because let's be honest with ourselves. If we were given this choice with nobody there to stop us, who would have the strength to let their family die to save tens of thousands of complete strangers? Not many people. It's heartbreaking that Peter has to even make that choice but so in character that he chooses the correct thing to do.
I never thought my first video from GamingWins is analyzing the intro to the game for more than 3 minutes when I just see it as 30-45 seconds of cool images and news reports. Instant fan.
Honestly I liked the puzzle thing since it kinda felt like I was playing a mobile game on tv, also I really didn't mind the stealth missions I mean seriously even on the hardest difficulty I found them easy and lastly I really enjoyed those button mash event things because it made me feel like I was spiderman dodging all those attacks and makes me feel responsible for the people's safety like the helicopter chase for example
For me this game reinstates my childhood love (and obsession) with spider man and I’m all for it keep up that positivity y’all ❤️ ps love the positive spin of the not so great aspects of the game because you can’t have platinum without some bronze
They're definitely building up the _Superior Spider-man_ story, and I'm both dreading and eagerly anticipating how they do it. I'm sure they'll nail it, but the story itself is so difficult to watch (at least for me), but it makes the ending so much more rewarding when we see Peter reclaim his life
@@liquidanimations3397 The fact that Goblin was able to tell Peter was back in his own body because he made a quip about his handbag will go down in history. Just the panels zooming in on his shocked face as he says _"It's you"_ were incredible.
I'm just going to admit it: Yuri Lowenthal has always been my favorite voice actor ever since I watched Naruto on Cartoon Network, with Laura Bailey as my second (I was shocked to discover she voiced MJ in this game), and this game pretty much displays why. Aside from Sam Witwer, Yuri can actually make you feel the rage, the pain, and the fear in his voice. I believe this is the best Spiderman VA since Josh Keaton. Now that I think about it, the entire cast was amazing!
Sam Witwer as Starkiller was amazing, but it was nothing compared to his performance as Maul. The way he shouted “KENOBIIII” when he was looking for him on Tatooine gives me goosebumps every time.
This game is genuinely my favorite video game of all time. This game was made with heart, time, and love for the spiderman franchise and it makes me smile ear to ear knowing this brilliant company with Bryan Intihar at the helm can do it with any character and I would love it all the same. It restored my faith in video games and how much I cherish people that care about something and want to make sure it is as good as it can be.

@@brigadier-tc8565 Well I like the new face since it looks more like comic Peter Parker as opposed to the Andrew Garfield-inspired original face, though both are good.
@@phoemix7043 One of my main criticisms was the opposite, actually, that I liked how the O.G Spider-Man had no overwhelming resemblance to any of the actors, but the new version had an overwhelming resemblance to Tom Holland
To be fair, GodzillaMendoza put it best when he said "MJ was never a damsel outside of those movies, that was Gwen's job." And I think this needs to be acknowledged: 47:30 "Yuri Luthenwall" Anyways, great job, definitely one of the more entertaining "long" videos I've seen in a while
Another win would've been 16:22 where Spider-Man is facetiming Kingpin while upside down, but holding the phone right-side up. Someone else might've pointed this out earlier than I have, but just food for thought.
Honestly almost all of the lines in the final Doc oc fight were so good. Especially the "you were everything I wanted to be" so much emotion and as he said it was pretty much his own father figure which made it even harder.
Something I like about the ending is that the whole thing is a cutscene. You (the player) have no choice in the matter because Peter has no choice. As much as he'd like to, he knows what the right thing is, and he's always gonna do that. Perfect Spider-Man moment right there.
At 26:56 i always use the sony stealth suit so it looks like tom Holland is the one taking a beating and then i go to his sony upgraded suit to symbolize all of toms suits. Its my own little routine. Homemade suit, stark suit, iron spider, stealth, and upgraded to end it off
I still can't get over how a spider man game is this perfect, best interpretation of Peter/Spidey and the overall knowledge and love of the characters and having the balls to bring lesser known characters and forgotten characters (Tombstone) back into the limelight of a spider man adventure
"By the time Scorpion shows up, we understand exactly what's happening" Actually, I was really really slow to figure it out on my first playthrough. It wasn't until Otto's arm came up after Spider-Man suffered that brutal beating that I realized it was The Sinister Six.
Another world-building detail is that there are newspaper stands you can interact with that show the events of the game as you progress through the story. As well as one of the backpack tokens explaining why he has so many backpacks throughout the city
Didn't notice this in my first playthrough of the game, but after Peter asks Li about the demon mask, and you get to walk through FEAST, I asked myself "why is Peter wearing two watches?" So I went into photo mode and realized that Peter is wearing his web shooters... Continuity with his sloppiness.
I mean kinda makes sense when he need to do spider work without being in costume or if the guy asks Peter can say oh since I’m always late have two watches that don’t always work
In the terrorist scene when miles goes to find his mom and he yells “MOM!” I was right next to MJ and Peter so Miles just screamed in MJ’s face while she’s worried that Peter is dying 😂
Just gotta say, a missed sin was how the contrast between the “You knew?” One with Otto (his father figure) at the climax of peters emotion and Aunt May (his mother) at her dying moments so he could be face to face with his mom for the last time with nothing hiding between them and their relationship
In addition to this game being so great, the DLC were great too. I am so glad I got the edition where all the DLCs were included. I platinumed this game and still kept playing and replaying. Miles Morales improved on a lot of stuff and took out the worst parts (looking at your mandatory MJ/Miles sections). And I did like the Arkham puzzle/techy stuff; they were never too hard or frustrating. Also great that there were skippable parts and able to turn off Real Time Button presses.
i love how much peter knows his city, like the back of his hand. shows that he truly cares about NY. plus when may calls peter to help out at the feast centre, she wouldn't want her nephew to be put in the line of danger as peter, but because she knows he's spiderman, he knows he can help them. but i always find it interesting that li only blames norman, and not doc. oct, even though he was also there during the accident and worked with norman. and the fact that miles has so much trust in peter, even though he has't spent too much time with him and shows him is new powers is amazing.
otto wasn’t on board with what norman did to li. he didn’t even know that norman was going do what he did. he even tried to shut it down when he saw what was happening
Don’t know if it’s been stated anywhere here, but if you looked around Otto’s lab before the prison attack, in each different sequence you can see early prototypes and plans for some of the villains tech and plans of the prison. It shows Otto’s genius in creating such technology, especially when asked about it, but it also questions how long Otto really had been planning for the attack
17:27 I think Peter was willing to give up his identity if he could. But he was focused on finding what was setting off his spider-sense, and the bombs went off too fast for him to get people to safety.
This and Tom Holland's version of Spider-Man are absolutely perfect This version shows you a Spider-Man struggling to make ends meet but still finding time to be a great hero and better person. Hollands shows a more naive and better off Parker but simultaneously still capturing the feel of what Spider-Man should be.
As someone who is currently going through college and struggling with a required Praxis Core test (Which I have to pay 90$ each time I take it) I also love it when media takes jabs at college.
The last 6 seconds hit so true. I miss John Bubniack as Peter Parker and it seriously ruins the experience and feel of this universe without the original version we connected to. I honestly hate that feeling.
I would like to say, having watched the Arkham videos on your channel and now Spidey, I feel your ending part of a video is so rewarding. It makes me reflect on my own life so much. Thanks for being here, and happy my Arkham video searches brought me to your channel.
Okay but i really wanna add another win at 37:10 cause of one line Doc Ock pulls "you'll know you're secret is safe with me" just HANDS in that the Otto Peter looked up too and knew is gone. Otto wouldn't try to blackmail Peter. But Doc Ock will.
So awesome that there's a "Everything Great About..." channel for gaming now. Better than sinning any day. Keep up the great work dude. Glad I found your channel.
18:32 What I re-imagined this scene as after finding out the voice actors for Yuri and Spidey were married IRL. Yuri Watanabe: We're NOT BEST BUDS! I'M YOUR WIFE! Spidey: WAIT, WHAT?!
the fact that electro was played by josh keaton really made my day when watching the credits. cause he played spiderman in spectacular spiderman, my all time favourite animated show
Besides hammerhead wanting his nostalgia of the glory days and then seeing that he can make it like the glory days to just end up being a power hungry of a Frankenstein monster

I also like how the remastered version was brighter cause I personally don’t like darker lighting games. I have the brightness on Max when I play Batman Arkham. This is all my opinion tho.
@@joeyharry3043 yeah, but Insominiac was trying to give a more older Spidey, a mature one. Even in the 3 DLC he is more a father to Miles then a Friend. After a few playthroughs I noticed something - Otto gets shut down by Norman and so has resentment, so does Martin -when shocker is fighting in the bank peter says his gauntlets got an upgrade - Otto gives all the other villains help or some kind of upgrade - Otto says he called in all his favors - Otto gets funds for his work after Martin robs a back Edit: Martin says during the train fight he is paying off an old debt I think Otto was helping Martin, and when Norman gets away with it he snaps

That little "oh no.." when Ottos arms are finally revealed was perfect 🤣

20:08 Another detail: M.J. bought a Spider-plushie very recently considering that's the new suit design
Which doesn't really make sense since the plushie collectible has Peter saying it couldn't be licensed for mass production for secret identity reasons.

Spider-Man's spiersense does recognize what he does and extends the warning system to include others, dude's literally built to be a life saver

Also something i love about this game is that for most cutscenes the costumes you choose show up
It was really funny being in the Spider Armor MK3 for the cutscene where Miles punches Spidey, cause it was just like "Yeah, punching metal armor would hurt".
Also they show up on the loading screens when your going in and out of places and checkpoints
I loved how many Arkham vibes the game had like the scorpion hallucination, the villains taking over the city, and the guilt felt by peter
The last scene of Peter and may always makes me think. Around the time this game came out my grandma was really sick and we all kinda knew she wasn’t going to have much time with us, looking at this scene now that I’ve had to live without her for a few years reminds me of her. “Everything’s Great About Spider-Man”
That ending with Peter having to hold himself back from saving May's life just hurts makes me cry every single time I watch it.

"By the time Scorpion shows up, we understand exactly what's happening"

You literally explained why the old model for peter is better
One of the things I loved about getting to come and go from Otto’s lab whenever you want is slowly watching it turn from Otto’s lab to Ock’s.
Glad somebody else has noticed this. Everytime I replay the game, I always look around the lab before and after the Raft mission
17:27 I think Peter was willing to give up his identity if he could. But he was focused on finding what was setting off his spider-sense, and the bombs went off too fast for him to get people to safety.
This and Tom Holland's version of Spider-Man are absolutely perfect
This version shows you a Spider-Man struggling to make ends meet but still finding time to be a great hero and better person.
Hollands shows a more naive and better off Parker but simultaneously still capturing the feel of what Spider-Man should be.
As someone who is currently going through college and struggling with a required Praxis Core test (Which I have to pay 90$ each time I take it) I also love it when media takes jabs at college.
