    Very cool, I've been kicking the idea around of getting a VW Beetle from the 50's, an Oval window would be awesome or 60's, a 64 as that is the year I was born, growing up my old man had 3 of them a 63, 69 and 74 Super Beetle and I remember having a subscription to Hot VW'S magazine, I myself had a 69 in the early eighties that I used as a work car, but I was and still am more into American cars, but will always have a soft spot for these cars!

    I'm just starting to explore how to bring back my red '67 Bug. My Dad bought it new and now it's mine. It hasn't run or moved since 1995, but at least it has been in a storage building. It has the typical rust, but I am hoping to be able to put it back on the road myself. I know it needs pans and heater channels and likely a lot more than that I am sure. I'm hoping to be able to salvage the chassis. Thanks for your video!

    you should support the body between the doors so it doesn't bend

    It's not just the heater channel, it's the rocker panels that are rusted out. You will need to replace the inner, outer and lower panels of the rocker assembly which will need to be welded in. The heater channel is inside and not seen from the outside. The body bolts to the lower panel.

    I've done this before but not like this. I always done it with 4 or 5 other people to help raise and lower the body. If you can get the assistants it's a much easier job.

    Hi What's the better way to do a patch? My Karmann Ghia needs patching (If I'm honest I need new floor pans) but I will try patching for now. I don't trust the stock or replacement floor pans as they are so thin. Especially since I want to add aftermarket seats. Thanks for the video.

    if the frame tunnel is not rusted out there be no need to change the pan but add the disc brakes and new floorpans to it and frame head as the 60 pan you have is different has a ling and linkpin beam the motor for that pan originally be a 36 hp as the stock 1966 US delivery models be a 1300. last car i had was a 1970 body on a 1968 swingaxle pan. I can't see how a late model 1968 -1977 beetle body be mounted on a pre 1965 pan with the king and linkpin suspension. I got a 1965 bug now still the stock pan and a rebuilt 40 horse.

    • @FixinBugsNStuff
      @FixinBugsNStuff  2 роки тому

      I got a good deal on the pan and tunnel though it was a link pin setup. Next one I will not swap but, fix.
