This is really light and great for summer. Even people who don't like fish will probably enjoy it because of the delicious piccata sauce. The ingredients with gram amounts are in the description along with the print recipe. As always, thanks for liking and sharing our videos.
You are probably the best youtube chef ever. You explain thoroughly in terms anyone can understand. You give options. Are you a school teacher? You definitely have the gift of teaching.
If you can get a kid to eat and like fish, you are a hero! I was looking for a lemon/garlic cod recipe and it looks like I found it. Thank you! I will make this tomorrow night. It looks absolutely delicious!
Jim, OMG, just made this for a friend's birthday, we were all completely blown away. He said it was better than in any restaurant. I made it with sand dabs and it was great. Many thanks and keep doing what you do. I'm not a bad cook but I've learned so much from your channel.
What timing! I picked up a couple of big cod fillets just yesterday. Protip: don't get the plastic-wrapped fish at the supermarket; it's likely to have been frozen and thawed, and will be prone to falling apart. Get fresh filets, from a fish market.
This has become my Bride's favorite recipe! After 43 years she still likes what I cook! Tonight we are making it with Mahi Mahi. Thank you Jim and Tara!
Hey Jim, I made it this evening for my wife and I. I followed your recipe exactly. And it was excellent a first rate restaurant quality entree dish. We loved it. I have made several of your recipes and all good .Also I admire how you lay everything out. It makes easier. Thanks
Hello, I am formally from Long Island grew up in Commack. Lived Florida Keys for 17 years and now live in the Mountains of Georgia. I love your Channel and last night I made the Cod Piccata. It was amazing. Thank. you. We were gifted by our neighbors who are traveling the entire State of Alaska a Tremendous box of fresh frozen Fish of all types from Alaska. Cod, Halibut, Rock Fish, and so much Salmon. It was such a great treat to see your video and make the Cod Piccata. Thank you for all your cooking videos and your lovely wife and children of course a shout out to James the food critic. Bless you all.
I love this show! Plus his sidebar comments: “you don’t have to be, like panicking.” 😂 Easily one of the best and most approachable cooking shows on YT.
I just made this tonight. I bought some beautiful cod as my son was coming to visit me from Texas. He travels a lot and he eats at nice restaurants, so I never know what to cook that he might enjoy, besides family favorites. This dish was an ABSOLUTE HIT! He had never tried Fish Piccata before and he really enjoyed it. I served it with jasmine rice , roasted asparagus/broccoli and a side dish of sautéed buttered mushrooms. For a drink, I mixed Crystal Lite Black tea peach flavor with “Mixology-Peach Sour) it was all very delicious. I went light on the lemon, as your son had recommended. Thank you for the recipe, it’s a keeper. ♥️ MAGA 2024 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Save America, vote Republican 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Bravo! James you always articulate the thoughts and reasoning for your opinions. Additionally your observations as to the structure and texture of the dish are aspects many "adults" often miss or overlook…texture is extremely important and can almost be thought of as a virtual ingredient.
Thank you for the amazing recipe! My family loved it. Perfect amount of garlic. Loved the garlic slices instead of minced garlic. Made it with couscous.and asparagus on the side. I bought asparagus that wasn't too thick and put it in the oven at the same time as the cod and it cooked slowly while the cod stayed warm. Loved that technique. The couscous was wonderful with the sauce on the top. Next time I may try it with angel hair pasta instead of couscous jus to change it up.
He’s undoubtedly absorbing the cooking of his dad by osmosis, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t actually start cooking until he’s no longer getting his meals made by his parents, like if he goes to college or gets his own apartment. Why would he, as long as it’s being made for him? Maybe he’ll cook with dad (and mom- let’s not forget, Tara must be a really good cook also) when he comes home for the holidays.
Tara looking out for me! I've got Celiac and love cooking your meals, but definitely have to adjust a fair number of them because of it. Some gluten free flour blends are excellent for adding a crisp, and I've even had great luck with GF panko or other fine breadcrumbs. Definitely going to give this one a try, thanks for sharing!
Fabulous recipe never thought to use a thick fillet of fish! That's why you're the 👨🍳. Will be adding this to next weeks menu plan. Love your channel from learning new recipes, improving on classics, tips, tricks & substitutes and taste testing products.
Jersey shore here! Love the Italian, love the seafood, you guys are bringing it with some of the best content on UA-cam! You could bring this to TV and via hit! Keep up the great work!
I've been doing this with salmon occasionally since I learned the method from your chicken piccata pasta video. My family loves the sauce on chicken, fish, and even pork chops.
My go-to for cod has been a white wine-basil-tomato-capers sauce, but I love chicken piccata. So it goes to follow that I will love this dish as well. I am definitely going to try this one soon.
We did a Norwegian salmon piccata not too long ago where I work. Turned out really well. This is one of my favorite ways to cook fish at home, actually.
Recently discovered your channel and now I'm saving all your past videos into a play list. The ones I've tried so far have knocked my socks off! I love the family style presentation! I recently spent some time in Italy with high expectations of the food, but was disappointed. I should have just gone to your house for dinner! LOL.
Great as always James! I love the trick of coating the butter in flour... I'll definitely be using that! They recently opened a great Sicilian restaurant by me in Queens, and their caponata is caper heavy. It's fantastic! I've never tried piccata with fish, but now I will!
I've made chicken piccata for years! I decided to mix it up with salmon and it was delicious, next time cod👍 Thanks for your calm and clear directions. I have also prepared your Chicken & Marsala Pasta this past winter and it's definitely a favorite.
This is the best cod recipe we have ever tasted!! It took many years to get my husband to try cod! He loved this dish as I thought he would. I will be cooking it again soon! Thanks!😁💗
I would love to see you pick a random recipe from another culture. Maybe something you haven’t cooked before ever. Maybe not a great idea. But I truly believe you would rock any meal!
Yes! I have Cod, I have capers! Thank you, sir! Edit, I'm curious what a good dish with shrimp other than Scampi(which I adore) you like to make? Thanks so much to you and your family! I love your boy James as your best critic! He has a distinguished palate and I'm here for it!❤️
Thanks for the upload! I was just thinking about what I was going to do for dinner tomorrow. I happened to have everything on hand for this already! Now I know what to make and how to make it!
Jim, my wife has Gluten allergies. I've found a Gluten Free flour that can be use. I have also made this dish, also Chicken using corn starch . Love your videos and your famiglia. Mangia, mangia.
Looks great, I'm going to try it soon. I love your videos! What a great vibe you have...your manner inspires confidence in the beginner cook. Your family scoreboards at the end is a unique twist that other videos don't have. Keep it up! Cheers.
Pescado bueno! I love this idea. These simple ingredients would be a great way to jazz up Costco tilapia. With white fish, I like to pair it with aglio e olio spaghetti. But I'm not Italian, so I'd like to know what you'd serve with this? Some herbaceous home fries come to mind.
Absolutely great recipe and step by step instruction the way you do it so well! I have made Chicken Piccata MANY times before, but never occurred to me piccata was a bit more versatile than just Chicken, To be honest, I never looked up your recipe for Chick P but just kind of improvised off a few things I watched on youtube. NONE of my attempts ever matched the first time I had it years ago and an interesting place in Saugerties NY (Tamayo )and a legendary pizza place-cum-restaurant in NJ---both preparations had just the right balance and were noticeably yellow in the sauce, I was never able to come close to duplicating these preparations. I think it more than anything was the small cubes of butter coated with flour as the sauce thickener. Lots of lemon slices in the sauce while it thickened, etc, little additions of white wine, of course the chicken stock (a little less b/c I didn't want too much liquid to and since I didn't have chicken, but did have some excellent frozen cod pieces (alaska wild caught) i used that instead--it was already lightly breaded so I left that on, put it in the air fryer till it lightly brown, then finished it off, played it by ear and let me tell you, I will be making this every few weeks! (Also it offers a good excuse to buy white wine (Sauvi Blanc happens to be a long-term favorite already)

Excellent video as usual.

WOO HOO!
Looks delicious and the bonus is this comes together quickly and uses basic pantry items. On my list of “to make”. Thank you!

Holy Cod! this looks soooo good, and lemony, and salty, and fresh, and summer-eey. 🐠🐟🐠🐟🐠
Love the amount of garlic in this recipe. Thanks S&F.
I did this with whiting and me ma was very happy. I prefer your recipe over previous ones I've tried. The flour is actually a game changer.
I cooked and it was delicious.
Important to have a very fresh fish
Keep doing these "unpopular" recipes! You will eventually unlock a new trend that no one sees coming without trial and error :)
I always make this ! My favourite way to make cod, it really brings out the best taste and texture in cod, which can otherwise be too dry.
Idk why I never thought about how much more sense fish makes with piccata than chicken. Absolutely making this next week

Yes, cod is very delicate which is why I would serve that with a fork and a large spoon. Cod is one of my most favorite meals.🙂

Classic flavors here - think I’ll try it with some Tilapia. 👍 thanks!
Looks delicious. I’m going to have to make this. I’m thinking grouper. Yum.
Made this today, as written. Was delicious, but I would like anything piccatta. The cod went well, nice summer dish!
