Always great lessons, thank you so much!
Thanks I really appreciate it. It’s always great to hear.
I play off 10 and have just gone off the boil and looking to find a swing thought. I had gone through my 999 swing thoughts and drills and kept getting one good swing then 1 bad. I tried your shoulder drill today at the range and wow ! I know that there is probably only so many swings with this before it disappears but your instructions were right on the money for me !! Saved to my playlist and subscribed for more videos !! Thanks Laurie
Good News Laurie! I really appreciate you taking the time to post. Glad you enjoyed it and most importantly that it helps you play better 👍

Thanks so much for taking the time to post 👍
Great video. I usually pul the trailing right shoulder in backswing which also gives chest extension. Is this also what you are talking about? Thanks.
Great video showing visuals on shoulder turn and drills to accomplish the turn into the swing!! Much needed!! Thanks :-)
Thanks Kenneth 👍👍👍👍

Hi Craig. At 73 years old and after years of inconsistent shots I now feel the greatness in a repeatable and accurate golf swing by simply looking at the many professional players alternating with their stabilized scapula movement as they are simply swinging staying in their golf posture and swinging their their club back and forth
Physically I know that a stable scapula can only move in one direction at a time and requires our upper arm of either side of our body to determine the direction it is going at any given time.
Our two scapula are important bones when it comes to golf in the function of our shoulder joints. They engage in 6 type of motion which allows for full-functional upper extremities movement including:
1 protracting-moving away from our spine v retraction- moving towards our spine
2 elevation- raising our scapula v depression-lowering our scapula when we are standing up straight
3 upward rotation- raising our arms and downward rotation lowering our arms
It also should be noted that a stabilized scapula should never be independently moved by us and requires our upper arms ( humerus bone and elbow joints ) to move our scapulas in any direction we choose in life to perform for what task we choose.
With this basic knowledge of my scapulas in my head I proceed to do the following
I first approach my ball with club in hand standing up straight with a depressed scapula. As I bend from my hips I can actually feel both my scapulas protracting away from my spine And then I flex from my knees
When I am swinging my club I do not feel as if I am pulling or pushing anything because in reality I am doing both simultaneously as I am only determined to swing my golf club back and forth
This being said for my backswing I use the upper part of my trail arm above my elbow for my back swing. This accomplishes several things automatically for me.
1 it retracts my trail scapula next to my spine and them elevates my scapula at the top of my backswing
2 at the same time because my lead scapula cannot be further protracted away from my spine it immediately gets my rib cage to rotating as well as my hips to the degrees needed as I simply swing to the top of my backswing.
3 My club also moves in its circular motion becoming elevated as my forearms, hands and wrists must follow until I am finished with my backswing.
4 My weight is automatically shifted.
To start and finish my downswing I do the same as a above only this time with added speed and power of my lead upper arm above lead elbow.
My only swing thoughts are to swing back with my trail upper arm and swing forward with my lead upper arm Cheers
Interesting post Thomas thanks a lot 👍
Never thought of my scapula movement before I read this reply. I will try powering my backswing with the top of my right arm. Also. Craig, I had never heard that the shoulder plane should be lower in the down swing. Mind blown on both accounts. Thank you both!
Any chance of posting a video clips as its difficult to understand
@@AldoScotia a few years back i posted videos of my ideas and filmed them with my I phone.
If I can some how get my iPhone to film on You Tube again I will film me doing my latest swing.
Ally Tee first talked about the trail scapula glide 20 years ago to start the takeaway. And Chuck Quintin used her research to teach his rotary swing golf without paying her for her material. Interesting case between the two if you like that sought ofstuff.
Check her out for her body absolutes in a golf swing trail Scapula glide for starting the backswing.
Both Alison or Chuck has not yet considered the role of the scapula on the lead side. The difference between ‘her in the box set up’ and mine is that both my scapulas are set equally protracted from my spine before i swing. And she recommends to start with depressed scapulas.
Nevertheless essentially all I do is swing my club back with my trail upper arm and then forward with my lead upper arm My body reacts as it should to the swinging of my club. My swing is now 1 percent action with my upper arms and 99 percent reaction with the rest of my body.Cheers
@@bigdumbanimal23 swing back with your ´upper right arm from you elbow up’ and let your hands; wrist and forearm simply follow. Don’t manipulate your hands and wrists in any way as the weight of the traveling club head does that for you.
To feel the weight of the head moving in a circle checkout ´ The Twirl Waggle ´ on You Tube.
The downswing simply start with your upper lead arm crossing your chest as your rib cage is rolling. The hips and the shifting to the lead side is all automatic. Cheers

Beautiful swing
Thanks 😊
Do the hands go through to impact BEFORE the right shoulder goes through? Same time? Hands FOLLOW shoulder through? Trying to understand. Great video.
Hi Mark,
I’m glad you enjoyed the video thanks,
I’m not exactly sure how to answer about the sequence questions you asked there to be honest. When I do it it’s pretty much a connected exercise, so it all moves together.
Is this plane and shoulder turn the same for driver. Or the plane is tilted more due to the reverse K ?
The shoulder plane is a little less with driver. Tour Average is around 30-32 degrees in the backswing… higher 40s low 50s in the through swing at the same checkpoints as in the video.

Since the left shoulder is higher than the right at address the downswing shoulder plane will naturally be steeper than the backswing plane.. if you maintain a constant spine angle.
They say no one in history was able to keep the club traveling on a straight path through the ball for longer than Byron Nelson - see time index 8:21 - that's an incredible position. Year 1945: 18 Tournament wins, 11 wins in a row, 7 second-place finishes & a scoring average for the year of 68.33 (only Tiger's 2000 yr in the history of golf was lower). During the 1939 US Open, Bryon hit the flagstick 6 times on approach shots into the green in one tournament. 113 Top-20s in a row - no one's even close.
What a legend.. Retired at 34 👌👌👌👌👌👌…
Thanks again
Yes Mr Byron Nelson was also a very classy gentleman.
Does this apply to the driver too? Won't you be hitting the ground or under the ball with this move?
The driver swing the shoulders do the same but on a flatter level as your further from the ball. So know you won’t hit the ground. Good question 👍👍
Metre 🙂👍🙏
So the goal of the drill is to get our shoulders 1 meter "outside" the golf ball?
Know that i know what I should do re shoulder plane movement, how do I do it? i.e. - get a steeper shoulder plane on the way through? What is involved (process) in getting a steeper shoulder plane in the downswing and follow through? Can you describe this in more detail as the devil is in the details.
Thank you.
Hi Harold,
The reason I do this videos is to create a interest a following. The real place where I have countless drills and practice programs is in worldclassgolf.com
You can’t write about shoulder plane drill. We learn up to 50% visually. There’s 1000 videos and 60 separate series on everything. Pivot drills, shoulders feels and drills, swing geometry. Different measurements etc
