    I am a retired tailor and you did an awesome alteration. I hate when those overlocks don't work correctly!

    This video has been a GREAT help today! I sew for our holiday play by refurbishing used clothing. I found the perfect red and blue stripe sweater but it was a size XXL and I needed a size M for the performer. Your video filled in a couple of steps that I would have missed and ruined the original. Thank you!

    I have a beautiful silk sweater that's way too big since I lost weight. I just couldn't give it away because I loved it but didn't know what to do with it. Now, thanks to you, I know I will be able wear it again! Thank you so much for sharing!!!

    Thank you. I’m hoping to fix my moms Christmas sweatshirt this way today. It’s very large across the chest and shoulders.
    And now I have returned to do a very similar project. The first one came out perfectly.

    I disliked this tutorial because the example shown is not a traditional knitted sweater as the title implies, it's a sweatshirt.

    Very helpful, thank you. Please choose other music to accompany instruction. It was very distracting. Again, the lesson was very useful for a project I’m working. Best to you.

    Beginner here: During the marking step, how did you know your new arm hole marking would fit the sleeve you cut off? Whenever I do stuff like this, the arms always get botched. Can you let me know what I can do to get the same result? Or does someone know where I can learn more about this exact type of arm hole alteration? I can't find any video that explains this.

      It's a while ago now, but I think I just knew from the pinning stage that the sleeve would be wide enough. I think I gave the armscye a roughly correct shape when I cut it - you can look at pictures of sweatshirt sleeve patterns to see what that looks like.
      So, when I sewed the new underarm seam (the one that goes from cuff to hem), they would match in length automatically.
      As I say, it's been a few years since I did this video, but I think that's roughly how I did it :)

    Love this video, as a beginner it's the most simple tutorial I've come across! Would this same method work for jumpers of different fabrics or t-shirts?

    • @SabrinaCWB168
      @SabrinaCWB168  Рік тому

      I think you could use it on t-shirts. With sweater knits you'd have to be careful as they might unravel.

    Fantastic, now I know how to do it but can the same thing be done with a knitted jersey?

    • @SabrinaCWB168
      @SabrinaCWB168  Рік тому

      It would depend on the specific fabric. With a loose knit, I'd be very careful and probably use a sewing machine as well as an overlocker. Stabilising the seams and using a walking foot might also help, but it really depends on the fabric's properties.

    Do you think there is any difference between this method, and the method of simply sewing down the side and armpit/sleeve and then cutting off the excess?

    • @SabrinaCWB168
      @SabrinaCWB168  3 роки тому +6

      Doing it that way would mean you'd have to resew the cuff (because the sleeves would be quite long) and the armscye seam would be further down your arm. It depends what result you want :)

    In the english language it is called a sweater, which is not a knitted fabric.

    I have a question. I have a hoodie which is 3 times too big on me, would I be able to send it to you to have it made smaller? I’d obviously pay :)))))

      Take it to an alterations place in your location, perhaps dry cleaners? Also you could practice on a thrift store purchase before tackling a better garment.

    If you looked até the dizer of my sweatshirt... It's much, much biggest than this one, it's huge, Very long and wide. If i wear It out all loose, It looks like i'm wearing a dtess, it's the way i like It: big, without a hood and with a kangaroo pocket.

    This is NOT A SWEATER🤬🤬🤬 A sweater is made from YARN
    Its called a SWEATSHIRT‼️‼️‼️
    With a hood and zipper its a sweatjacket, with a hood, front pocet, and no zipper, its called a hoodie.
    I REALLY wish your generation would get it right‼️‼️‼️ It makes it difficult to search and is verry annoying when you dint refer to things by their proper names‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
