Awesome video. I usually alter my overalls for length. I would love to know how to alter a jacket or coat made of duck canvas. The sleeves are always a few inches long and the inside is a quilted lined sleeve.
I am a women and enjoyed this video very much. I shorten my sweater the same way this video showed. Other videos will teach you to cut first, then sew. No no! As the edge will ravel and it gets messy fast. This is the best way. To sew first, then cut. Neat and easy. I learned one new thing. I usually zig zag the edges of the two pieces fabric together. This video showed to sew them separately and then iron the edges down flat. It is smoother and no bunching this way. Good job!
Sewing made easy! Thank you for also showing the settings on the machine (and explaining why). Just got a set of pants done as I was watching this. Keep up the good work!
This is information that I will really be able to use. Have lost 35 pounds in the past year so nothing fits now and I have been sewing masks so have built up that experience, thanks!
I recently decided to up my game with my clothing after more than 10 years of neglect. Now I have a lot of clothes that are a little too big (I used to weightlift) and want to tailor everything. I used to have a tailor do it but it is too expensive (as well as difficult finding a good tailor). Thank Antonio, been watching your videos almost everyday for the last three weeks, subscribed and making comments now. You are doing a great work in sharing your knowledge and style sense.
This video is amazing! 😍 Everything is explained thoroughly yet in a nutshell. Moreover, the production quality is great. I also like that this sewing video is produced by and for men. This makes the female-focused sewing world a bit more diverse. I like sewing, but it's still exotic to be a man saying so... 😅
I thought this was another excellent fitting tip. I am tired of looking less than 100%. Real Men Real Style has given me the knowledge of how to dress better. I like the tips on how to modify my clothes or dressing style to make me look better. Thank you very much.
Hey Antonio! Me and my dad were watching this video and I’d love to get the sewing machine for him for his birthday. What sewing machine do you have? Thank you!!
I think there are two sides to this. The obvious one is to by clothes that initially fit. The second one is if your body size changes over time eg you loose weight then this video is fantastic and adds to your skill set. Im definitely thinking of getting a sewing machine.
I'm from shorter side and I suffer from non fitting sweaters. Today I tested like 10 sweaters and only 2 were acceptable. I will try to adjust mine after watching your video.
Luckily for me, all my jumpers (What we call sweaters in the UK) fit perfectly. If they are a tad loose, after a few times in the washing machine and dryer is enough to make them fit tightly and comfortably
Unless you're a very experienced sew-er, you risk making an awful hash of that sweater. If it's wool, soak it for a few minutes in warm water and hang it to dry. If it doesn't dry small enough, you can always repeat the process until it's where you want it. If it's cotton, wash it and air dry it before you decide; it might shrink. If it doesn't, turn it inside out and wash it again, then put it in the dryer on the permanent press setting. I have found that doing that shrinks my cotton sweaters by one full size. My husband has put cotton sweaters in the dryer more than once. There goes $80 down the drain each time.
actually I just knew that you can alter a sweatshirt length n width, which is a perfect solution for short guys like me. I find it extremely hard to find a high quality clothing item that fits me nicely. this just solves it
Hey, bro, can you do a wool cardigan sweater next? Mine are all too long, but they have pockets close to the bottom, can the pockets be moved up? Or do I have to just sew right through them and shorten them?
Man this is helpful, thank you... hey quick question? I have a turtle neck sweater that the neck part is miss shaped. But I really like it any suggestions?
I'm not going to try this because I'm all thumbs when it comes to sewing. However, I wanted to see if it's too dumb to ask my tailor whether he can alter a sweater (for the same reason I won't ask my mechanic to attach a pair of wings to my car. He can't and won't). Obviously, you can alter a sweater. Thanks for the video! Now to my tailor with my baggy sweater!
I found a vintage all metal Kenmore sewing machine at Goodwill for 30 dollars. There are many videos on You Tube for any alteration you need to do. I am buying clothes from Goodwill to practice on . I consider a sewing machine just another power tool in my workshop.
What I thought? Awesome! Great job. Then it reminds me, when I think back to school. Things we should have learned as well: singing, dancing, cooking and tailoring. People need skills.
Ok.. Great video as usual But we have aproblem here.. Often men is not able to use a sevillemachine.. first to star with your sweater do a lot of practise..

I am a petite female and found this very helpful.

Thank you Antonio sir for helping me out

I recommend you infiltrate a cosplay forum. There is nothing those people don't know about sewing.
Could you share the sewing machine you used in the video? Thank you!
Masking tape works much better than a fabric pencil FYI
@@muffemod Or chalk! I have never found a fabric pencil that works.

@@muffemod good tip
To the point and informative. Thank you.
My god, this is really amazing, i was thinking in remove the arms section, crop and finally sew again haha, ty a lot !
Thanks a lot ,just what I needed!!
Same brother
New fan, new subscriber. Thanks!
Thank you Real Men Real Style, very cool!!.
Wonderful video
great guide, thanks! do you have one for woolen sweaters? or does the same technique in the video translate to cable knit woolen sweaters? cheers
Oh snap! Antonio wants me to play life on hard mode rn. I loved the video just doubt I can replicate it. Maybe I'll trust a tailor to do it for me.
An easy to follow tutorial.
I clicked this, because I thought he was going to say "shoulder nipples" at least once. 😂
This is very helpful!! Best tutorial I have seem to shorten so far actually. 👍
This is brilliant! Awesome video!
Thanks so much!
I just want to ask you if you make a video on teenage style tips and also grooming tips
Great tips. Thanks, again.
great vid, super useful!
I can't believe I'm actually interested in this. My how times have changed lol
Wanted to know about the shoulder width, how can we reduce that?
Yea good question I bought a favorite sweater and it's too large all around...
Really well done
Any way we can alter the jackets specially the leather ones??
Great video, thanks
This is what I need 🥰
awesome video man
I'm from shorter side and I suffer from non fitting sweaters. Today I tested like 10 sweaters and only 2 were acceptable. I will try to adjust mine after watching your video.
Thank you for the awesome tutorial. Can I use my serger for the seams?
Radha Radha ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️
What's up... Can you do an example of this with a hooded sweatshirt?? Nike, UnderArmor, etc....
The waistline isn't tight enuff, makes my sweatshirts look huge and worn-out. I like the snug fit around the waist, Thanks...
Great video
Excellent!
This is magic!
Great video!!
A great subject.
What kind of stitch type do I look for in a machine to do this? I am from a different country so the provided link is not an option. Thank you! :)
Tailor pants next. Hem and Taper!
Would be interested in this in terms of jeans and dress pants.
Luckily for me, all my jumpers (What we call sweaters in the UK) fit perfectly. If they are a tad loose, after a few times in the washing machine and dryer is enough to make them fit tightly and comfortably
I literally have a baggy sweater that was given as a gift, this came in very useful. Great video as always Antonio!

What about tops of sleeves that hang too low off the shoulder?
Fantastic, but how do you alter a large neckline

How do you tailor or fit a jacket with lining made of a delicate fabric like suede
Hey, bro, can you do a wool cardigan sweater next? Mine are all too long, but they have pockets close to the bottom, can the pockets be moved up? Or do I have to just sew right through them and shorten them?
Hi Antonio, us always perfect video. Antonio Could you please give us some good advice on what kind of books a gentleman should read?
Does this raise the armpit too?
Didnt include how to shorten the shoulder length, if you could please cover that as well that would be great!!
Loved it thanks man
❤❤it very much
Thanks a lot sir
What a brilliant video! Perfectly presented. ,💯 Thanks 👍
This is really cool, there's no way I will be able to do this with the sewing skills I have... But perhaps one day 😂
Another great video.
Thanks Jeff! Glad you enjoyed it.
Man this is helpful, thank you... hey quick question? I have a turtle neck sweater that the neck part is miss shaped. But I really like it any suggestions?
Would the sweater look better if you added underarm gussets? Or, because it's stretchy, it doesn't matter? Oh, great instructions. Thank you
Like this tailor vids
Just watched the new bond movie and remembered how good tailored sweaters look, now i am here
What if I just wash it and dry it on high heat? Shrink will naturally occur right?
Yeah, but it has a chance to shrink unevenly.
Awesome
Where we gonna get all those tools 🤔
I'm gonna do this on a jumper i love but is to long 😉
Vanity is a vice
Please make a video on how to tailor a shirt to fit well
I'm not going to try this because I'm all thumbs when it comes to sewing. A man in the 21. century must have a sewing machine, it seems.
How do I get a walking foot like yours ❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓
So what if I get fat? Is there a reverse card? 😁
Gimme some tips on which sewing machine should I buy? I'm embarrased to ask my grandma' :D
Ask your Grandma. The good ones are pretty expensive. Expect to pay $250+ refurbished for a functional one, $300+ new.
I personally think this sweater was altered a little too short but otherwise this was EXTREMELY helpful!! Thanks! 😉
that's the perfect fit if you wanna look taller but up to you, you can make it a little bit baggy
Ok.. Great video as usual But we have aproblem here..
Often men is not able to use a sevillemachine.. first to star with your sweater do a lot of practise..
great video, but I would rather pay the professional to do my alterations. guess I'm not a DIY guy when it comes to tailoring my clothing lol
I think it's more easily to buy right size sweater. Sleeve cuffs looks weird.
Cloths are made taking average ppl size .
U wont get a perfect size ...u will hve to tailor it after purchase.
Never been so fast
I would have sewn down the seam allowance of the sweater .It won't stay flat and will annoy you .
Thank you! Always wondered if a sweater could be tailored to my size.. very helpful.
