- If your glasses aren't the same prescription for left and right eye, then maybe it's time to watch this video and learn all about ocular dominance (and one of the most common prescription mistakes).
More on the topic, here: endmyopia.org/ocular-dominance...
another example is, you don't lift a heavier dumbbell on dominant arm. I you keep lifting unequal weights you will injure yourself.
Great one.
Ooh you've nailed it. So good to hear someone else say this. IMO the same goes for prescribing for astigmatism - not such a great idea. I have a wonderful optician who gives me plain identical lenses, no prescription apart from the plus I need.
Lol... Jake yo choice of music my guy is great! I love yo intros and outros bro lol
Wish I could like this video a thousand times
My left eye is 2020 and right one had - 4 prescription. I have dropped it down to -2. 75 in 8 months. Insane doctors man.
How to do active focus when both eye have different lens number...
@@rahulchaurasiya3672 cover the other eye or just close it
How? Process please
So I just tried equalizing my glasses because it seems like there's less than .25 diopters difference between eyes. It seems slightly uncomfortable, but I'm going to try it for a while and see how well it works. I'm glad you made this video, because I was wondering if de-emphasizing the difference between my eyes might be a good idea.... and it sounds like it is.
I used to have -3.5 diopters in each eye and last year, I got my eyes checked and the optometrist gave me a prescription of-3.5 in my left eye and -3.75 in my right eye, recently I went to the optometrist again and the optometrist gave me a -prescription of 3.5 in my left eye and -4.25 in my right eye, how can I do to help the weaker eye (right eye) to be stronger again?
My left eye is -2.00 cyl and right is -2.25cyl. (only astigmatism no myopia) So left eye is dominant. And I am also left-handed person. So basically there should be a connection. :) In addition my glasses is equal (both 2.00 cyl) So right eye is very little bir blurer than left eye. Is it okey? Or should I upgrade my right lenses of my eyeglass?
My dominant eye changes from right to left when I wear glasses! What should I do?
bempis mine do that to and I think it’s made my vision worse and my eyes go back when there not on
@@howtowithelizabeth7513 That's why I searched for this video, it must happen to loads of people who just don't notice then
They haven't explained to me why my dominate eye is the one that needs the higher (stronger) prescription by 0.25. I tested my eyes and the dominate eye is indeed weaker. They are right. But why?
Ok so this is my second prescription what do you suggest me to do?
...except my dominant eye is my right eye, and it's decidedly worse, by a large margin, in fact, over a whole number diopter, and despite my non-dominant eye getting a reduction in prescriptive strength, my dominant eye has gotten worse. Why?
Because my fucking eyes are different. That's why.
My right eye used to be my dominant eye until I got PRK twice in my left eye and lasik in my right eye over 20 years ago. Now my left eye is dominant against what’s natural so to speak. Sucks.
My doctor said I have -0.5 in left and -0.75 in right eye. Please tell me what my normalized glasses diopters should be in both eyes?
Hi! In the last 3-4 years, I had two prescriptions, and two respective glasses made based on such prescriptions. I am kindly asking for an advice because I was never fully happy with both of them. To quickly give an idea, the first pair was made back in December 2013, whereas the second pair was made in May 2016. I always found the first pair of glasses (Dec. 2013) somehow too weak, whereas the correction made by the second pair (May 2016) felt too strong... First prescription of the glasses made in 2013: Right: +0.25, (-0.75, 0°), Left: (-0.50, 0°), no spherical lens correction therefore for the left eye in this case. The second prescription, made in May 2016, was as follows: Right: +0.5, (-0.75, 175°), Left: +0.5, (-0.75, 175°). First thing I notices is the difference in the axis: does 0° and 180° imply the same correction, or not at all? Concerning the other values, I realize the differences are not that big, but I never felt too comfortable with both of them (although I always preferred to use the older one). I plan to buy a third pair of lenses, and I am sorry to say it, but I kind of lost trust in the two doctors who made such prescriptions. In both cases I waited almost two months for having my eyes tested, and in turn the exams were always so quick (5 minutes) and didn't give me time to even understand the exam. For this reason, would anyone kindly have some advice for the next lenses, given the information above? Thank you.
Copy-pasting from another comment here since same applies. ;) "Print an eye chart. Measure. Learn about centimeter. Measure that too. Read about astigmatism. Read about diopters. Figure out if your current correction is really what you actually need."
I also have a dominant ear LOL
This totally makes sense but for some reason my dominant eye is the one with a .5 higher prescription. Would you anticipate that this scenario would be easier to equalize?
The reason for that is in my opinion (note: my opinion, not science) more strain. You put more strain on the dominant eye (especially by wearing glasses) and so it gets a little weaker than the actual "weak" eye.
How to do active focus when both eye have different number b/c if I do active focus without glasss only one eye work....which have lesss number...
Is active focus helping u
Hello, my right eye changed from -1,25 to -2,5 of about 6 months of hard work for my studies, but the left eye is still strong. My actual glasses are -0,75 (L) and -1,25(R). But I can't see well with my right eye I'm afraid :/ I removed the glasses for close up work and I tried the active focus technique but I don't feel any difference. What can I do please?
How long have you been trying for?
Thank you for your reply, for about 1 month now :/

If the difference between both eyes is more than 0.5 diopters, work on the weaker one with active focus in close up with no glasses while covering the stronger one with your hand or just blinking. With distant vision also reduce your prescription in your weaker eye & work on distance active focus with the stronger one also covered.
When they're within 0.5 or 0.25 of eachother then you can work on both together at the same time.
When your vision becomes better than -2 diopters then it's time to add plus lenses while reading/close up while continuing to decrease minus prescriptions for distant vision.
These things take time if they are to work so be patient, one month isn't enough. Your vision took time to get worse & it'll take time for it to get better.
Thank you very much for your answer! Highly appreciate it ;)

no problem,Good luck!
Errmenegildoohhh!!! Is that your Dad in the beginning of the video?
It’s not. 😂
You didnt give proof or reasoning behind anything you just said...the best I got was "because that's just how it is"
All of on the Website. Reasoning: endmyopia.org/endmyopia-basics/ and proof: endmyopia.org/success/
My right eye is very week ..i use -7 lense for it...and left eye is normal..plz.someone reply me
Did u fix it yet?
@@orandachildren1051 i dont know how to fix
I have -1.5 difference in both eyes
So why did they increase the prescription in my dominant eye and not the weaker eye?
Why'd you let them? ;)
It's actually not true that everyone has a dominant eye. I am one of those lucky relatively rare people. Both of my eyes work the same. It has its perks and its detriments. It makes shooting difficult with both eyes open, but a quick squint from one eye or the other lets me switch almost instantly from my scope to my left mounted red dot without canting the rifle at all. (Those of you who shoot will know why canting the rifle is bad)
So if the prescription for my right eye is -2.25, left -2.75, when my R -2.75 and L -3.25, it is bad and I need for example -2.25 for both eyes? Or it is supposed to be ratio between eyes prescriptions, according to actual vision of my eyes? Sorry for my english, its not my native language.)
I'd recommend the diopter section of the blog. It'll take some time and reading but answers should all be there for you.
Jake Steiner thanks. I've already do that and understand what normalized and differential glasses I need. It'll be interesting journey. P.S. I practicing bates method two years ago and didn't work for me.Week ago I accidentally saw a commentary under the video that was not related to endmyopia. Just some Russian guy mentioned your method which If it true or not helped him, and then I started exploring your website. Now I'm totally motivated, especially after searching any good information about vision correction.

Wait a second, my FULLprescription is -1D Left and -0.75D right
As a reduced prescription glasses, I have a -0.75D left and -0.5D right
is that bad?
I also have -0.5D left and -0.25D right Contact lenses which I sometime use
howz ur eyesight now?
I got glasses and I’m right eye dominate
Well the left lense was to strong and the right one wasn’t clear
Now a year later my left lense isn’t strong enough and the right lense doesn’t work as good
And I think my eyes are bad now I’ve wore my glasses upside down and my right eye seems to relax more looking through the strong left lense and I see fairly clear but looking through the right lense with my left eye it’s slightly blurry
So I think they screwed with my eyes and made my vision worse
