    I grew up with glasses, 5.00 diopter high myopia, and yet today have 20/20 natural eyesight. No surgery, no glasses, I figured out how myopia actually works and how to reverse it (and no, not eye exercises!) The mainstream tells you it's impossible - but the whole concept that myopia is an illness, is complete unscientific nonsense (a 100 billion dollar a year profitable nonsense, though).

    I’ve even had it wrong myself for a bit, I thought just because I’m low myopia I could end glasses wearing all together but even a little myopia is too much blur. I had a really good eye doctor who reduced my prescription from -1.50 & -2.00 to -1.25 & -1.75 so I lost a quarter diopter in each eye and with these new glasses I was very slightly blurry but over a month or so the blur disappeared. I was seeing noticeably better without glasses too so I stopped wearing them. My vision went no where. I ordered a new pair of glasses this time -1.00 & -1.50 and I will wear them all the time outside. Another important mistake to avoid. You NEED to go outside and get sunlight for your eyes and stare at things in the distance. Jakes method in a nutshell works flawlessly with gradual diopter reduction over time along with plenty of time spent outside

      @@paramjeetthakkar7088 I just followed Jake's advices tbh. At the beginning I tried to remember and do active focus everytime I went outside. By the time it became a habit and I didn't put too much thought into it. I also stopped with the measurements. That's the amazing part in my opinion, you passively improve without much effort.
      One thing I did really attentively though was taking off my glasses everytime I read or looked at something up close. I also feel like the biggest step for me was when I didn't need a Differential for close-up anymore, that's when you really start to notice the changes.
      Wish you good luck bro! Just read everything slowly and carefully and don't rush yourself.

    I just found your videos and your blog and program. I have recently been having issues with my new prescription from the eye doctor. At first it was because the BC measurement was too small. But then I noticed that I had trouble reading things whether it was when someone showed me something on their phone or on a page of text. This is on my new prescription. But I found some unopened contacts that have an old prescription -5.00 in both eyes while my new prescription is -6.00 in both eyes and I decided to try them on if I viewed things blurry then I would just use the new prescription but instead I see just as crystal clear with the Acuvue2 -5.00 contacts. Also so far I am not having any issues with the lower prescription. Lower prescription no headaches, no dizziness, I can see my phone screen clearly throughout the day. If I look at things like a clock from 22 ft away I can read it well. So far I am going to keep using the lower prescription contacts.

  • @logann-mackenziefroste563
    @logann-mackenziefroste563 5 років тому +2

    Another question How low do you need to go on finding the right low prescription on contacts and glasses ? As I just got an increase to my prescription of 0.25 when my vision hadn’t changed much, but I can see almost perfect with a -5.00 Acuvue2 app contact lens prescription. I am currently wearing those -5.00 contacts and so far no issues.

    I wish you didn't speak so negatively of Bates. He broadly had the same understanding as you, but with massively fewer resources, and in a time where people probably didn't do quite so much close up work. I couldn't quite understand how and why you differed from him until I watched this video (newby to endmyopia), but you've explained it well, and your view makes sense. So grateful that you share so much so freely - but that's the internet (and its screens!) for you. Many, many thanks.

    • @endmyopia
      @endmyopia  8 місяців тому +1

      Bates was brilliant for his time. When I'm less positive, it's about "Bates Method" today which has little to do with Bates original work, is largely out of modern context, and sold as some miracle fix for myopia - which of course doesn't work. Thanks for the note!

    What if we spend 8+ hours a day on a computer for close up work? Also would you recommend plus lenses for doing uplose work? i currently have to use my minus lenses for uplose work... I just feel like that's really bad. My eyes are getting worse. Also i can see about 18 inches infront of my face before it starts to get blurry. my computer screen is about 24 inches awway from me, So it's like REALLY blurry but i can still make out letters / images. would you say i should use plus lenses? well you talk about if you had -3 lenses and a -1 lens would make a blr challenge, i thought using plus lenses upclose was the solution, not minus?

    I totally misunderstood what blur adaptation was. I thought it was almost the opposite. For me, blur adaptation is really only a thing when I take off my glasses completely. As long as I'm wearing glasses, psychologically I feel like I should be able to see what I'm looking at so I keep trying to see. But if I take my glasses off.. well, I kind of just give up. Unless I'm specifically forcing myself to try to see.

    Hi jake! I'm a 15 year old girl who has a -3.50 vision. I started wearing glasses back in 2013 because my eyesight was starting to meddle with my grades. Thankfully I have never changed them since my mother knew that glasses were bad and would only impair my vision even more. recently, I've started to notice floaters in my vision. Scared, I immediately searched it on google and all they said was that floaters were normal. I didn't buy that BS though so I searched up myopia conspiracies and found this website that talked about axial elongation and the cause of myopia. Somehow, I found your blog and I immediately signed up to your 7 day emails. i went through them and I just wanted to say that sadly, I don't have a credit card and I'm not 25 yet. So, I can't do the systematic approach. But I'll definitely do the DIY approach for now! Whenever I can I try to do active focus as much as I can and I've noticed that my vision has started getting better! Still have floaters but I'm guessing that will go away in time. I love the community as well as your passion!

    This blur adaptation topic is a little confusing for me. I get the example of just taking your glasses off and then suddenly being under corrected multiple diopters. But what about wearing your differentials most of the time? In theory they’re about 1.5 diopters weaker than your optometrist prescription and I can see ok in the distance with mine. Not quite enough to drive but otherwise pretty good. And when I get a clear flash I can really notice the difference whereas if I were just .25 under corrected a good clear flash might actually make me feel overcorrected.

      It'll probably be a couple years. In progress with data collection but not a high priority for the actual writing for now.

    Omg this is totally crazy. I had all these questions a few days ago and you have answered almost all of them with this video. Jake your timing is incredible. Thank you. But I do have 1 more question. When finding glasses for close up work, if my optometrist won't help me find the diopters I need( for close up work), do I spend time looking for another one who can help me or is there a way I can find out myself? I just started summer school (I'm 15) so I need to find a way to get close up glasses fast. Anyway, I'm sorry if jake has answered this question before ( I know how much he hates ignorant people who are too lazy to find the answers on their own) but if someone can just point me in the right direction, I would be grateful.

      Exotic Parallel I'm sorry. I should have clarified. I'm wondering how to find the diopters I need for close up glasses. If I am at -4 d what do I decrease to? How could I find that out on my own?

    • @23100Battlefield
      @23100Battlefield 7 років тому +7

      Nobody can answer how much you need to reduce. You need to find lenses that allow you to see the screen clearly from about 50-60cm away, without creating additional hyperopic defocus and so that if you lean back a few inches it will begin to blur. Jake has a diopter ruler on the site that will help you get an idea if you aren't sure

    I have R: -1.75 and L: -1.50) and astigmatism R: cyl -0.50 / axis 100 and L: cyl -0.75 / axis 055...the lower part of my glasses with +2.00 for reading...since going through your 7 day email course and looking at blogs, I have been going without glasses, except to drive...so would this be considered blur adaptation? or am I close enough to being glasses-free that this is OK? thanks!

    • @sharonkuepfer
      @sharonkuepfer 7 років тому +2

      Otie, thanks for replying! so I got a snellen off the internet (hope it's accurate!), and I can sometimes see some of the numbers in the 20/40 line...
      BUT it seems like I do the best with snellen or reading licence plates when I close my eyes tightly and then open them widely...is this shutting tight/opening eyes wide still fairly accurate?? thanks for any help you can give me!

    • @sharonkuepfer
      @sharonkuepfer 7 років тому

      Otie, thanks again! I feel honored! so shutting eyes tight and then opening them wide to clear text you are saying is an ok method to clear snellen? (because i heard that squinting is not good...)

      Sharon Kuepfer Thank you for asking these questions ! I wanted to know too
      I am at around -2.25 in both eyes, and I don't feel that uncomfortable when I don't wear my glasses, so I was wondering whether I could also stay without them.
      And I also have that same effect when I close my eyes and then open them widely, it makes the writings look much more clearer for a second ^^

      I might start wearing -0.5's but I don't know if thats right. Anyways I really needed a video like this because I've neglected my -1 glasses for over a year, hence I think I'm blur adapted. Its hard at -1 diopters.

    • @MrXrayez
      @MrXrayez 7 років тому +4

      It depends. I'm 22 and for the last 10 years I've never wore glasses. Somewhere at the age of 12 I started to notice reduction of my eyesight, but it was so gradual that I haven't noticed it and adapted to my blur vision over the years. As Jake has mentioned in the video, one of the major contributing reasons to my depression was exactly that but I didn't know about it consciously. I have -1.5 now. Not wearing glasses didn't let me to screw my eyesight even further but not wearing them haven't improved it ether. So, It boils down to establishing proper vision habits and reading Jake's blog as often as you need. Started wearing -1.0 glasses. I'm still learning but what I've figured out so far is that one needs to have total visual acuity of -0.5 / -0.25 diopters to improve eyesight while avoiding hyperopic defocus, eyestrain and actually using distance vision.

    • @Ythishate
      @Ythishate 7 років тому +3

      wear a 0.5 less always . i had tried 0.25 less which did not chalenged the eyes. i tried 1.0 less and it was too hard to handle. for me 0.5 works.ie you put on -0.5 lens

    • @jorrgfromage9929
      @jorrgfromage9929 6 років тому

      honestly, no. from my understanding, that would create TOO MUCH blur, when you only need slight blur. it's like weightlifting, go bit by bit. reduce, to .5, find the blur point and try to clear it with active focus.

    • @jorrgfromage9929
      @jorrgfromage9929 6 років тому

      ..........so he should get -0.75 glasses ???

  • @bananasty9334
    @bananasty9334 4 роки тому

    So basically reduce your prescription to a point where there is a relatively small blur but you still can read texts, rather than extreme blur where you can't see crap.

      Important: Go to a new optic shop, don't bring your existing glasses / contacts. They'll always start with the diopters they know you've used and go up from there. Also relying on their measurement solely makes little sense. Have an eye chart, always cite your own measurement results for context.

  • @joiamed8544
    @joiamed8544 5 місяців тому

    I've lost two diopters in my left eye and three diopters in my right eye over the past thirty four months using pinhole glasses and strong +6 reading glasses for at least 300 hours per month. I'm aiming for +2.5 D, which is the blindness point meaning you have far points of 40 cm.
    You can't just eliminate minus lenses. You have to do the opposite thing you did to get more myopic in the first place, which is to wear progressively stronger minus lenses as prescribed by optometrists.
    The whole hereditary thing is total bullshit, because my parents and grandparents didn't have myopia.
    You have to think of it as a homeopathic technique, where like (reading glasses) cures like (myopia).
