    Hi,
    Thanks for another great video!!
I always had a soft spot for Russell Harty, the epitome of a gentleman really. I just wish his career wasn't distilled down to one incident - he was much more than that! So it's nice to see he's buried in such a pretty location, which suits him perfectly - nothing flamboyant but just a picture postcard location.
Keep up the good work Alan!

I know exactly what you mean. Joe, He had that slightly aloof observation of his guests. That made it intriguing what it was going to ask them and they didn't show any sycophantic aspects usually unless it was somebody with a clever intellect. So unjust for the press to try and drag him into the gutter at the end of his life, but I think most people won't think of that at all. Thank you for the lovely comments. Hope I see you again. Regards Alan

Nice to see Russell Harty featured. He was a great interviewer and documentary maker. I believe (but this may not be true, anyone know for sure?) that he contracted Hepatitis during the filming of his documentary series about the Berlin Wall and how it divided a country and families. I’m not sure how he came in contact with the disease, poor food hygiene in a restaurant perhaps? I’ve no idea but however it was Russell remains a great loss to television. I loved his ‘Christmas at Home’ shows, my favourite was the one broadcast live on Christmas Eve (1981?). It’s a shame they are not available in full on UA-cam. I think reshowing the Berlin Wall series would be a very good idea today given the current world situation as a reminder to us all what the consequences of warped ideology and land grabbing can lead to. RIP Russell.

Russell was great at what he did, and went far too soon.
I recall, that he was staying in the Randolph hotel in Oxford, when it caught fire, and he had to be evacuated from it.
I stayed in the Black Horse in Giggleswick 44 years ago, on a school Geography field trip.
That clock chimes all night and if you're staying in the rooms facing the church you will get no sleep whatsoever.
That doesn't detract from Giggleswick - it's a lovely place.
Speaking as a 'soft' southerner, Yorkshire's really not bad at all!

@@MotorHomeBeepBeep Baffles me Alan, I truly belief that Grace Jones wouldn't get away with humiliating someone on TV like she did these days, and as for the tabloids, well in some ways thank god they are not the only way we get the news today...saying that they would stoop to nothing to get a story out there..no regard for the consequences...I am not a bitter person but don't like how some people are preyed on famous or not...great film keep it up..

He interviewed Bowie at the South Bank studios and was quite adoring of the glamorous star who also performed Drive in Saturday and My Death. However when he later interviewed Bowie in L. A. via satellite, Harty was either very poor in his research on the subject or was perhaps particularly trying to rile his subject matter by pretending not to know the name of his latest film and other trivialities. One has to wonder what on earth was going on there, what a shame he never explained his performance. Thanks so much for finding his final resting place, a very interesting character.
