Good build. An alternate way to go about an angel shaman would be to go Shadow Shaman with one level dip into Rowdy. Shadow Shaman is still a shaman but also gets sneak attack dice, which will enable the build to scale Rowdy's Vital Strike ability. One downside of Shadow Shaman is that they loose Wandering Hex/Spirit. Not a dealbreaker for me and Vital Strike scaling more than makes up for it imo.
I spot one issue with the build Fencing Grace: "You do not gain this benefit while fighting with two weapons or using flurry of blows, or anytime another hand is otherwise occupied." So its useless for a dual weild build.
@@Brou4545 I'm not sure how much value the weapon feats provide after level 10 or so anyway. You're probably better off just spamming bolts and storms of Justice. Might be worth grabbing metamagic, teamwork, and/or spell focus for whatever school of magic "bolt of justice" is classified as .
Great video. To bad i just finished my angel playthrough. One more thing you can do with the merged spellbook: At caster level 25 you can combine metamagic (extend) and greater enduring spells to make your buffs ,that would only last one round per caster level, last 24 hours. So for example with the angel mythic spellbook you can make things like sun form permanent and deal 1d6 × caster level damage as a free action. The only downside is you only get to casterlevel 25+ in act 5. Nevertheless casting over a dozen buffs in your party and steamrolling through Iz was pretty fun.
Another fun thing you can do with Shaman is utilize its elemental spirits (regular + wandering + extra from mythic ability) in an Elemental Barrage build that's always on. Nature (which gives perma Sonic damage) + any combination of Air, Fire or Stone gives you 3 different elemental damage types on every attack. With a weapon that gives you a 4th element, you can trigger Barrage all the time, without having to fuss with Geniekinds or anything like that. Also, Nature Spirit gives you a fully levelled pet at 16.
Extend spellcasting mythic perks make it so that your sword of heaven plus any of your spells that have a duration now will be active 24 hours. Incredibly effective, if you like to spend 2 mythic perks to get. Also the sword of heaven ability that allows your party to use is extremely strong too. And the halo ability that lowers spell resistance is just ridiculously good.
Sorry to necro, but extend spells now works just for spells, not abilities like sword of heaven. But divine classes with merged spellbook with angel can at high levels get to caster level 25 and with extend spell gain 24 hours duration of their round/level buff spells.
I think a dip in monk seems solid since you're going unarmored and focusing on wis for the AC bonus, this opens up some extra finesse weapon choices too And on an unrelated note, there's some humor in the fact that there were 666 views when I loaded this
Very cool build. I personally been undecided about which class to use for the Angel path, since I kinda want to use the merge spell book feature. So i would ask you what class would you recommend based on the following: 1. I tend to do first play through with only Good or Neutral chars. 2. I'm tend to like classes that can heal and/or do damage (elemental). My Lich Path is going to be a Dhampir Mystic Theurge (Cruoromancer + Ecclesitheurge) for the ultimate magical hoarder.
I love the build. My current playthrough is a battle Oracle angel; its much easier and stronger than my azata playthrough. Merging spell books is just ridiculously powerful since you basically go up four caster levels immediately. And I love how the angel spellbook consolidates like 20 different defensive buffs into a few party wide buffs that last at least 10 minutes each. I know it doesn't fit the lore, but I wish every mythic path had something similar to improve the quality of life. it's going to be painful playing a different path after Angel. I was thinking it could be worth grabbing the slumber hex immediately, but by level four you're already past the part of the game where it's the most valuable.
the other paths really just arent centered on spellcasting, trickster is based off of a rogue,. demon bloodrager. azata bard and aeon inquisier. Ive been playing demon as a bloodrager, and the synergy with demonic blood rage and reguler bloodrage is insane. that said angel and lich are rather lackluster choices with classed they cant merge spellbooks with, Id rather play as an aeon then an angel if I was a paladin
@@oxwagon Demon rage gives you your blood rage abilities while demon raging but not the other way around. So it does limit you by the demon rage per day cap which is a shame really.
@@oxwagon yes they did demonic rage can be activated while in bloodrage, and demonic rage activtates bloodrage. further more aspect of balor now spreads the effects of the blood rage to allies, with nocticulas demonic lord aspect you can give ALL aspect and the effects of bloodrage ( including tireless and greater bloodrage to allies) its pretty insane, my charecter blasted through act 4 and act 5 has been fairly easy. so far
It's appropriate that Angel is inarguably the strongest path for this campaign given that it's centrally about taking on the Abyss and sealing the WW. I also like the idea that other paths are feasible but will be more challenging. For that matter, I wish the Demon and Lich path were the most challenging of all.
Hey man I was just wondering if you were gonna do a 'Worst Games of 2021' video? I know you did a couple 'Best of' kinda things, and a 'Games I'm looking forward to' video, but I was kinda hoping to see a 'Worst of' list, or at least a video about games you regretted playing or games we should avoid because they were wack. Happy New Year, Mort. Keep up the good work, and oh yeah - thanks for that Underrail review. That was great.
Probably not, I don't like doing videos where I'm just dunking on things. I do them every once in a while, like classes to avoid etc, but in general I don't find them very satisfying. So just being like 'these games suck' isnt something I like doing
@@MortismalGaming That's fair. Nothing wrong with keeping it positive, and I'm sure you'd let us know if a game had enough negative attributes (that's RPG speak right there) that it wasn't worth playing or paying full price for or something. I totally believe you'd still 100% that game tho. Thanks for the reply.
Question! I did this build (total newbie), picked the same feats and when I equip a dagger I only have a plus 1 to hit? Am I missing something or does this come online later?
Excellent guide, thank you! I was wondering, are you going to be working on any witch builds? Or is that one of the classes you don't particularly enjoy?
I know this is very late but hopefully you see this -- did you increase dex at each opportunity or did you also put some points into wis? Does it matter a whole heap? I was thinking of going wis for more spell slots (at least for early game before the abundant casting line), but would dex be better overall?
Have any max melee Bloodrager damage build? Noticed some of the bloodline buffs seem very OP, such as free enlarge person self with Abyssal bloodline, or the Arcane bloodline where you get haste as a free action buff.
I'm a new player and I was looking for something more interesting than just copying Lann. I'm going to restart with this, it looks great and has a nice payoff late game.
Hello. I have a question that for the life of me I can't find. Does the Mythic Path delete your class? For example. If I start as a Halfling Hagbound Witch, and go on to become a Lich. Will the character be a Lich Hagbound Witch? Or just Lich? Been loving your content BTW. Literally binging it lol keep it up
Dipping 1 level into monk can help a lot with survivalbility especially early levels on higher difficulties. I assume you are lawful and have massive wisdom without wearing any armor. BTW critical confirmation rolls are kinda pointless 99% of the time with bless weapon or crusader edge which is essential on all melee characters.
@@shawngillogly6873 you sacrifice 1 caster level out of 30 which is insignificant here: that is a 1d6-12 damage/1 round duration at most (plus you can get enduring). Trade that in for +10 untyped AC that no buffs can give and can't be dispel, it's a no brainer imo especially for early game.
Completely forgot fencing grace doesn't work with dual wield 🤦 you can still use the weapon finesse mythic I mentioned in the same sentence though.
The worst part is there's no actual logic. If your sole reason for a Nerf is game balance, then it's a Nerf that shouldn't be made.
works now! I've seen it with Woljif and his daggers!
perfect timing, was hankering for a shaman build =) thx alot sir! ANd great showing it at lvl 9 not just only at 20 like som manny others =)
