Yesterdays was absolutely fine. Sometimes tech is a hindrance but I think I speak for all of your online sheep-lovers that we'd rather have a video with poor quality than no video at all.
For folks asking/wondering what a terminal ram is: Rams must be structurally sound enough to breed to get any benefit from their genetics. A terminal sire, or ram, is one that provides the genetics to maximize lamb growth, feed efficiency and carcass quality. Using a terminal sire can result in superior market lambs that meet the demands of your targeted market.
You don’t need to be so hard on yourself. We all understand things happen and you’re doing the best you can with what you have. I enjoy just watching and learning about the whole process. I’m not a country girl so all of this is mostly new to see. I appreciate how open and honest you are with everything. Hope you all are staying safe and well physically, mentally, and the whole bit. 😊
I didn't find the blur all that distracting. Better a blurry video than no video. I'm interested to see the Steele rams once they get sheared. They seem to have a thicker, blockier build;but it may be wool. And I live by myself. My family isn't that far away but rarely checks in. So your videos have really helped me feel connected during all this stay at home...like somebody remembers I exist. And sheep & lambs give off such a peaceful energy even virtually. Thank you!!
No worries....I watched it with one less cup of coffee, so I thought the blurry was me! It came through just fine. We have been with you long enough that we take the good, bad and ugly all in stride!
I'm not a farmer nor do I understand all the different breeds and how and why you choose the ones you do. But, I don't watch your channel to learn about that stuff. I watch because I love seeing the babies and I love watching how you interact with your sheep. You treat them with respect which is rare. A lot of farmers are just looking at dollar signs and I don't see that with you and your family. Thank you for sharing your farming life with us.
I think you would like The Clever Cowgirl. She is a horse trainer and rescuer in Montana. She always respects the horses' needs and what is best for each one as an individual.
Sandi, you’re the best! Don’t worry about being “perfect” cause no one is! Everyone appreciates you and LOVES watching all the great things you do! Please remember that! ❤️💋
The Rideau was created at the research station in Ottawa (Arcott). The OLIBS (Steele ewe original) plan was to make a prolific out of season lambing ewe.
Watched the whole vlog. Did not have issues. Was too focused on the info you gave. You could take an extra day to yourself as we've all needed time.... 💜💚😎👍❗
You are very nice. Selfish of me but I'm counting on the May vlogs to get though. I like the tractor rides too. Hoping for more BillyCam. I don't want her to overdo though. Garden is another job on her plate.
I hardly noticed the blurriness was so paying attention to your explanation. Although I do not farm, don't live near one, I love learning about what you do and truly appreciate you taking the time to explain every detail. Your videos are invaluable to society and thank you, please keep posting!!!
As a person who usually just looks at sheep and says "yep, that's a sheep", I find this video very educational! By the end, I was able to look at the flock and see the differences in the breeds (and not just because the Suffolk have the black faces). They are all shaped differently and seem to have different personality types. Thank you for sharing this.
It was OK I watched it I liked it I’m sorry that it took so long to edit it there’s nothing worse than equipment failure when you’re working hard so thank you for getting it out
I inherited a neurological disorder from my mother. We are now 5 generations documented with what we call the Gordanier Syndrome. 10 members of my family are affected. We are born with some symptoms, but others are triggered through life experiences. I am the only one who developed vertigo, visual triggers. Since 1987 I have had to walk downhill or go downstairs backwards. About 4 years ago I walked into my doctor's office totally off balance. His thought was that I had a brain tumor. I now walk with a walker. I can't respond (do shoulder checks) when I am walking down the street and hear a sound behind me, without getting dizzy. I describe my vertigo as walking into the surf on a beach with the waves knocking me off balance. Most people have experienced walking into the surf on a beach and understand my description. I just wanted to respond to your comment about how your video turned out yesterday and how it may effect someone with vertigo. You did a great job under the circumstances and I had no trouble watching it.
That is amazing. The females in my family have a 'genetic anomaly'. We have to be very careful bc irregularities in our urinary tracts that causes sediment (read infections) and constant cranberry, cellery seed, and avoid dehydration. I have a head injury from an accident. It effects my vision often. When I even watch heights on video I get a sense of virtigo that feels like falling. Dr says it's not bad though. Scares the poo out if me when unexpected height scenes appear. Lyme disease has made me unstable on my feet. Sometimes my body does a spasm forward, bending at the waist. Not harmful but let's me know I'm overdoing. Then I don't know I'm falling until the world is sideways. Always to the right. So I taught my large dog to heal on the right and assist me. He braces so I can use his shoulders to get back up. He is a hugger and loves all sorts of touch. 🤗 Hugs and prayers Sharron
Thank you Sandi and you do not ever need to apologise to us, we love every second you can spare to share your day with us. It is like a master class in sheep farming. I am impressed beyond words how much you do each and every day. Stay well!!
"Look at me doing math!" Hahaha! I'm confident you can do most anything you set your mind to, Ms. The genetics breakdown was fascinating to me. Here I thought you based it on the "cuteness factor" of lambs. 😉 I so enjoy my midday break with you and the sheep. Heck, I enjoy the corn and gardening too! Don't worry about the tech glitches that come up. Hollywood profits from calling them filters or special effects! Stay healthy. We love ya!❤
You did a fabulous job describing the breeds you have and why you choose them! I went back to watch all of your breed videos (and ram videos) just out of curiosity. And I googled the breeds too. It’s been fascinating learning about your flock. Thank you for sharing! -stay at home mom in NJ.
Great explanation for those of use that know nothing about what you do. I watch you often because of your ability to explain and connect to people who are watching. Thank you for all you do!
I would totally watch an entire video of just the lamb lounge and bottle pen. I love them! Also every single time they jump up onto any mom’s back and she just continues to lay there. Thanks for my daily dose of your farm!
Really enjoyed your discussion on breeds and genetics. You put a lot more into this than it looks. Always enjoyable to hear the reasons why you do what you do. Thank you.
Sandi, I watched your video from the day before, I found no faults with it. It was very interesting and informative, as are all of your videos. This one was also very informative, I learned a few new things. When you need a break, please take one, we don't need you to get worn out. On a different note: I watch for your videos to come out and watch them as soon as they do or once I get home, if out on errands. Your videos are a high point of my days. I so enjoy them and your way of describing things to us. I love it that you have favorites and when you show us you do. Your bright face when you are around your lambs make my soul happy. Please keep up the great work. We love you!!!!!
Thanks again for a wonderfully informative video! I really enjoyed learning about the different breeds and their characteristics. Btw, your last video didn’t look out of focus to me at all....so don’t kill yourself over that. We’re just so happy to get any new videos at all. Thanks again for taking the time out of your busy day.👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑
Keep up the amazing work sandi! I love seeing each and every one of your videos every day. Keep doing amazing. if you feel you need or want a day off from vlogging, take that day off. do what's best for you. we can wait.
You are doing an awesome job and a little camera snafoo won't keep me away! I'm not a sheep farmer and just come for your teaching style and beautiful love for the animals. We are barely starting a "homestead" and currently have 7 chicks. It's a start. Love all that you do! Love from Minneapolis!
"In the future of today" is a much better way of saying "later". Love it! Thanks Sandi, it's nice to know I'm not the only one who comes up with their own phraseology!
Lots of info today. Went passed the farm where those sheep that escaped from and the owner was out fixing the fence once again. He said that they tryed again to get out, but he caught the escape artist and they did not get far this time. He thanked me again. So happy to hear that.
Oh Sandy your doggie brought back the best memory we kept our lamb milk powder in pantry in a huge glass jar (one gallon mustard jar from local takeout) our big tomcat would stick his paw in it and lick it off so the brother thought but was a good idea to feed him the bottle. We have picture of our huge tomcat standing with his paws on brothers knew nursing from the bottle. I kid you not. 😊❤
Hi again SANDI You've come a long way since the beginning with no plan! Way to go!! You're doing it from scratch and building and someday things will be just the way you want it. Loading was the best ever and seeing them even closer they really looked great. Nice job Sandi That one ewe in the back honestly looks like triplets or quads! Lordy she's wide and round. Will be fun to see! Thx as always!
Sandi you are just one woman. An amazing one at that but you cant expect so much of yourself! We are here to learn and relax you keep us company in good times and bad. I at least will be here whenever you upload and dont be so sorry! anything you do is you going above and beyond. Relax a little its okay. Your best is more than enough
Sandi, Yesterday was just fine. I'm just thankful you are putting out videos every day, despite all you have going on in your life!! I'm sure we all can agree that we all absolutely love your videos!! Besides, we get to see all the cuteness!! You cannot beat the cuteness!!! Give yourself a break! Much love for Michigan!!!
Stop stressing, yesterdays video was fine. I know nothing about sheep but I found it very interesting and yes I could follow most of it (I have bred pedigree cats so I know a little about genetics so maybe that helped). I can never have or run a farm so I live vicariously though you and a couple of smallholdings with goats that I follow. I love coming to visit with you and never tire of seeing the sheep and the chores that you have to do to keep things running well. Mandy x
I wish everybody had your sense of duty and responsibility because the world would be such a better place! Problem is, folks like that worry themselves into an early grave trying to be perfect. Give yourself a lot more grace so you can teach all of us who want to live a long time, how to do that. 💕
I grew up around Suffolk sheep and I love them. I'm also in FFA so I bought my own full polled Dorset wether and I love him so much. My first market lamb I had was a Cross between a Hampshire and Polled Dorset, and he was beautiful so sweet. Dorsets are so sweet and calm. I find Suffolk are very hyper and loud, but I love them nonetheless.
Thank you for the descriptions. I have studied all types of animals throughout my life centering on horses. I have never really learned much about sheep. You have made them fascinating to me and I find myself now studying them to learn breeds and characteristics and uses.
It was great. I had a stroke and am very sensitive to stimuli, but I had no trouble with your video. I look forward to your videos. Thank you for being you.
Sandy your video the other day was just fine don't worry about the little bit of blurriness you could still see everything on God bless you Sandy and family
So nice of you to put the information for each type of ewe/ram and then vid of each right after. I really appreciate that. I am one of those that has no idea of sheep farming (farming in general) but still love and enjoy each video. Thank you
Sadi thank you for posting a video yesterday I am so sorry it took you so long to edit. I appreciated all the great information from yesterday and look forward to learning more with you. I didn’t mind the quality of the video I understood what you were talking about and simply appreciated the video. Thank you so much for these videos. Loveeee the daily vlogging! I know your concerned with content but honestly I’m so content with just the day by day chores and tasks.
The video was really good yesterday. I only recently started following your page. But I am fascinated with your system. In the fall I am attending college for animals sciences and ag education with a minor in herd management and agribusiness. I have the hope that one day I will own my own farm. But not that it will just a fully functional farm it will also be a place for kids to come and learn. Your videos are really helpful in teaching me about sheep farming. I just got my first 2 ewes last fall and watching your video has helped teach me alot. It would be amazing to see your farm in person. I am astonished when I watch the videos about much thought you put into all that goes on. Thank you for making these videos.
Sandi I love to watch your videos! A friend of mine raises sheep as well and you remind me so much of her and the good as well as the hard days . We live in Virginia . You are amazing at what you do and the strength and commitment you have to get up each day to pretty much do the same routine everyday . Please keep up with your videos 🙏
Hi Sandy. Another great clip. Over the years that I’ve been watching your clips, I’ve learned so much from you that thanking you is not enough. I believe you are very thoughtful. You openly share all your experiences with everyone who cares to value your honesty. Again a very big thank you. I appreciate your commitment is not easy and you always strive for the best. I pray all your honesty and efforts are rewarded. You truly are a great source for open learning to many. Please look after yourself & family. Heartfelt thank you from Australia. God bless. 😬
I watched this when you first posted it. But, I didn't really read all of the information you posted about the different breeds. I paused each page so I could read and retain the info you so graciously shared. Thank you so much.
Sandi Darren here a sheep farmer in Northern Ireland I also found Ildefrance to be slow to finish. Have you ever thought of replacing ildefrance terminal sire with texel. I've had great success with running suffolk and texel terminal sires with mule ewes. Also I'm impressed with the prolifency of your rideau(steelx)ewes.Would you export some ewelambs ?
I saw that too, the one ram is definitely chewed his fleece off both sides of his hind quarters. Given a few ewes are also missing hair, they may need a skin scrape to check for pesky mites. I don't know if the lice treatment they get can either fail or wear off before the next treatment? Definitely something that can affect the whole flock.
Hey Sandi, don't stress yourself out over the vlogs. You have a life and a very busy one at that. Technology screws up at the most awkward times, it's Sod's law! If you can't get the vlog out daily then we understand, you have a life too and you have more important things to do than worry about your camera working. You do an amazing job keeping up with everything but don't run yourself into the ground over something that is so not worth it. On a side note, I love your videos. I love seeing the lambs. My 8 year old boy loves watching the lambs race. Yesterday's video was great just like all the others. Sending love from the UK and keeping our fingers crossed that your rams have done the deed 😉 xxx
When u showed the pictures of the pasture sheep and I realized there was a Great Pyrenees in the middle and I started laughing he just fits in so well 😂
You often say some things you talk about may be boring to some for me I enjoy listening to you talk and your teaching me a few things I didn’t know as well along the way so it’s my way of learning something new each day so thankyou for keeping my brain healthy during this lockdown.
Sandi, The Rideau breed was developed in Ottawa at the Ag Canada research farms . Guelph University crossed them with dorset and produced what they called Olibs sheep which are the animals that Steeles started with .
First of all, thank you so much for the daily vlogs during quarantine! I love finishing up my classes and relaxing with some sheep. I'm not a farmer, and I now have so much sheep knowledge in my head, and I love watching your gardening since it helps me with my own. Some of the things in yesterday's vlog just went right over my head, but I think for the most part after rewatching some of it, I understand your process for the replacement ewes. You did great with the footage you had, thank you so much for not giving up!
Thank ya so much for explaining the breeds, and their purpose in your flock. Definitely going to use the info going forward when we get our lambs this year.
I’m sorry you had a bad night, especially since it was due to getting a video out for us. I really like your videos and look forward to them everyday 🐑🖤🤎🐑
Video was fine. I have had vertigo and it didn't bother me a bit. With working from home and not being able to get back home to the farm as much, your videos and stories have really helped me get through! Dad had sheep before I was born, so I was raised more with the dairy cattle, and now shifted to beef. I wouldn't mind having sheep someday and I think my mom wouldn't mind having some again too. I miss your stories on Facebook, but have started watching them on Instagram now.
Had my first lambing 2 weeks ago. I knew it was going to be crazy after watching you but WoW! Ive learned so much from you. Thanks! Keep up the great work!
I am end stage MS, and one of my many symptoms is vertigo. I had no issue watching the vlog yesterday. Great job making the best of a difficult situation!
Hey don’t worry about the blurry video...the information was amazing, and VERY helpful! If folks can’t handle a few goofs here and there, then they can take a hike! Thank you for uploading it even though it wasn’t perfect!
yesterday's was fine....made it easy to unfocase on the movement and listen to you! the info in today's was interesting as I can only tell the white and blacks apart but now I know why popcorn has brown freckles😄!
If you get more redu (idk how to spell it lol) can you separate like group 1 group 2 etc and when breading daughters you can see her dad was in group 1 so she can go with group 2 or group 3.
SANDI! Yesterday's video ( which you say was blurry in some spots ) was just FABULOUS! Don't even fret about it! LOL @ Kinzie (milk replacement mustache!) The explanation of the breeds was AWESOME! Just what I had been wanting! :) I also DID Google Steel/Steele sheep yesterday and found information and articles on The Steeles.....and was thinking that might be why you were calling them Steele Ewes! Now I need to know what "terminal" means when you were referring to the Suffolk and Ile de France. Kind of thinking that means they will go to the sales barn...but not sure. Thanks for the great video and explanation!
This a really good, informative video. I know next to nothing about sheep, but you're helping me learn. Now I don't feel like a complete dummy when I stop by and visit the little sheep farm near me. I like to hang out with the lambs on my way home from running errands. (This is the flock used for weed control in the owner's vineyards.) So thank you for being patient with non-farmers like me! Now, my weird brain just has to say that at 13:06 🎶 One of these is not like the others 🎶 😋
Had no problem with the focus issue. I’ll watch whatever you put up basically. I like the education in today’s video. Never realized there were so many distinct sheep “ looks” until now. Farm. On.
Great to see the NZ genetics in use. Our neighbour ran Coopworths, they tasted a bit different (that might have been a ram lamb though). Really good mothers, lambing percentage was high (no where as high as yours) The Texel East Fresian Romney will bring in the milk and the carcass structure which should start to lift the yield at the meat processing plant plus I think they don’t have the hogget lambing degradation. Love your videos.
Yesterdays was absolutely fine. Sometimes tech is a hindrance but I think I speak for all of your online sheep-lovers that we'd rather have a video with poor quality than no video at all.
Totally agree Rebecca
Rebecca Scully I agree completely

My daily sheep fix. So funny I raised dairy goats and wasn't a fan of sheep, but since watching you my view has changed on sheep.
I have sheep on UA-cam would you like to watch my videos clever Suki and Rachel have had all their wool cut off and Ewan shearing Samantha
Keep up the amazing work sandi! I love seeing each and every one of your videos every day. Keep doing amazing. if you feel you need or want a day off from vlogging, take that day off. do what's best for you. we can wait.

Yes. Don’t spend so much of your time on vlog fixing. Your voice is great or no vlog is fine. I can always enjoy a repeat.

I wish everybody had your sense of duty and responsibility because the world would be such a better place! Problem is, folks like that worry themselves into an early grave trying to be perfect. Give yourself a lot more grace so you can teach all of us who want to live a long time, how to do that. 💕
thank you!!

It was fine👌 You’re awesome & I love when we get a glimpse into your humor 😂
Did anyone notice the sheep name Goat , her back of neck there is wool missing like a bald spot? plus love watching your videos Sandi !!!
Thank you for putting in all the info on the different breeds !❤️
It was great. I had a stroke and am very sensitive to stimuli, but I had no trouble with your video. I look forward to your videos. Thank you for being you.
So interesting! I knew nothing about sheep until I found your Channel and now I'm addicted. Thank you for putting this together!
Loved your video yesterday! Learned so much and it looked fine to me! We appreciate all the time you take to make us happy! 🐑
Thank you
Yesterday was absolutely fine. I didn't even notice anything odd or off about it. So kudos to you to a job well done !!!
I have vertigo and yesterday's vlog was just fine! Thank you for keeping us entertained during these trying times... Keep up the great work!!
Yesterday’s video was fine! Don’t beat yourself up. Love you!
Sandi
Darren here a sheep farmer in Northern Ireland
I also found Ildefrance to be slow to finish.
Have you ever thought of replacing ildefrance terminal sire with texel.
I've had great success with running suffolk and texel terminal sires with mule ewes.
Also I'm impressed with the prolifency of your rideau(steelx)ewes.Would you export some ewelambs ?
I want to see when the rams get a new haircut and also wanna know what is going on with their wool, since some are shedding quite a lot. 🤔
Monicaapimpa I think it was lice not sure tho
Nice job Sandy it's always nice to see Jess. What you shared was very informational🐑👍🐑👍🐑👍🐑👍🐑👍
You did a great job troubleshooting yesterday’s vlog. Well done and good save!
'Lamb lounge' lol I love it!
When u showed the pictures of the pasture sheep and I realized there was a Great Pyrenees in the middle and I started laughing he just fits in so well 😂
Wait...there was a dog in those pics?
Hot damn there was lmao! In the 3rd one xD
I saw it too and immediately came to the comments. That's a funny looking sheep.
Guelph University crossed them with dorset and produced what they called Olibs sheep which are the animals that Steeles started with .
the last video was fine don’t worry that much. We know how much effort you put into everything. Lot of love e appreciation from Italy ♥️
Do you ever shear your Rams I'd like to see a video of on the care that it takes to keep them in good shape
That will be coming up in the summer. Keep watching.
Thank ya so much for explaining the breeds, and their purpose in your flock. Definitely going to use the info going forward when we get our lambs this year.
I loved yesterday’s video, it definitely made my day! It’s something I think a lot of us look forward to
I’m sorry you had a bad night, especially since it was due to getting a video out for us.
?If you were to bring one of the market lambs back over to this barn, would they still recognize their mom, & vice versa?
The video was fine. I love watching the babies and your relationship with Billy. lol
I am end stage MS, and one of my many symptoms is vertigo. I had no issue watching the vlog yesterday. Great job making the best of a difficult situation!
You are brave and wonderful. I am sure that Sandi will appreciate that. Hugs from Halifax
Canadian Navy Wife thank you so much! ❤️
Hey don’t worry about the blurry video...the information was amazing, and VERY helpful! If folks can’t handle a few goofs here and there, then they can take a hike! Thank you for uploading it even though it wasn’t perfect!
Those beautiful black faced suffolk rams are my personal fav. Big and Beautiful.
You are doing great! Don't beat your self up! I love your videos it is the highlight of my day!
Video was fine! You do the best you can with what you have. Keep on keeping on.
I understand your frustrations. The video got your points across just fine.
yesterday's was fine....made it easy to unfocase on the movement and listen to you! the info in today's was interesting as I can only tell the white and blacks apart but now I know why popcorn has brown freckles😄!
Thank you for sharing! No matter what you video I love it! It’s never been boring! Thank you for the breeding info!
Wow! So early! Yay!!! Look forward to this every day/week. Thanks for all you and Mark do and thanks for the fabulous insight into farming.
That wasn't bad.. Very educational video!! Thanks Sandi.. Hugs from the USA
I really like your Suffolk cross lambs, as I watch your videos each day I notice several show quality lambs!! Love your channel!!
The vlog about the ewe lamb selection was great! The information is more important that the video quality :)
I thought you did a great job. I enjoyed watching you work while listening to you talking
