Laugh, laugh, are you kidding, I admire you. I'm alone and up in age, but I still plant a garden. Next you need to learn how to preserve your harvest. I find peace and comfort in my garden. Looking forward to seeing you in your garden. Prayers
If I were laughing at you (I’m not), I would be laughing at you thinking you have time for a garden on top of everything else you already do. I’m not laughing, I’m amazed and very happy to see you doing this.
@Sheepishly me- good for you on the garden attempt. I wish i had that much room! I only have 1/4 acre. We do tomatoes(3 types) , cukes, squash(3 types), beans(2 types), watermelons, lettuces(4 types), kale, spinach, broccoli, cabbage, carrots onions and potatoes. Also Sunflowers and herbs. And perennials. PS, on the virus end of things, dont be afraid. I think this has been wayy overblown.
I have a "garden" for my Grandchildren it is about 10 feet square. We have potatoes, runner beans, peas, beetroot, spring onion, sweet peppers, garlic & rhubarb. We also have a herb garden. Luckily we planted it before lockdown & I show them photos every few days. Last year we had enough peas & potatoes to feed all 9 of us for 1 dinner....it was our first year.
I always grew a garden when I was younger. I was in a really, really dark place when I was in middle school and my dad was trying to find ways I could cope with it in a healthy way. We tried gardening and keeping chickens for eggs and pets and I found it to be really helpful for me. I moved out on my own two years ago and I’m starting my in ground garden this year. I had a container garden last year but it didn’t do well for me. I got some tomatoes and strawberries in the ground already and I can’t wait to put the rest of the veggies in!
Laughing at you for planning a garden?? No Way! It shows you're movin' along with our times and have good common sense...please don't give up, but PERSIST! Life will never be the same again...I'm thankful for the opportunity to become self sufficient! This is my third year of making the effort and each season I gain valuable knowledge! Hooray for your effort!
About that garden. You have sheep . That belly wool you usualy throw away. Its perfekt to put between the rows of garden nicetys. It prevents weeds and wont mold and is wery effektive to hold the moist in the grownd
I totally understand jess. I have a senior this year as well. She will have a drive through graduation, no awards ceremony and prom is tentatively scheduled for end of July. Shes my baby of three so I'm sad too. We just keep reminding ourselves how thankful we are all healthy. Weird times and definitely different memories than we had planned.
I am definitely not laughing about your garden...like you said if this whole mess has taught us anything we all need to find our own ways to be more self sufficient.
I totally agree. Even I'm growing a small garden for my family so we can still eat if lockdown gets worse. Thankfully we are still able to go out for essentials here in Australia
Love the suggestion for "Billy" names. My main reason for commenting though was that beautiful little brown headed lamb. All I could think of is I love my cocoa that color!
Sandi: watching your vlog, has given me more appreciation of the food that I eat, and the people behind the scenes that work so hard so that I can survive this thing. Your feelings that you expressed in the truck, are normal, know that most people, at one time or another have had the same feelings. I thank you for your hard work, and all the efforts you go through to continue supplying Ontario with food. Stay safe,be well
So funny that your son looks like his dad and your daughter looks like you Man, those lambs took getting vaccinated so well, seemed like they were just thinking "huh, I just got a long hug, ok let me go abouts my ways..." and stroll off like nothing happened. Really awesome, seemed 100% stress free. Great job! That brown one is so adorable! ... you should keep it *cough cough* 😆
Why is it funny they look like their parent's? They're supposed to its called genetics.. Ya keep the brown one nice to see color spots mixed among all the white.
That is true. I've noticed that in my allotment as to which beds grow the best crops. Also, don't know about where you are, but in Toronto the wind direction is important too. This is our wind rose. I'm sure you can find one for your area. www.researchgate.net/figure/Annual-wind-rose-data-from-Toronto-Island-Airport-Courtesy-of-RWDI_fig2_318552343
A garden!!!! Hurray! I will LOVE to watch it grow! Plant some giant sunflowers, too! Have you checked into companion planting? That works GREAT--and it's fun!
Sandi, this is my first garden. I brought a greenhouse to protect my crops form the elements and wildlife. I already have my organic worm casting from my compose worms. And soil to cultivate the garden space. Very excited to see how this pans out for me.
Sandi please keep us posted on your garden I just started a big garden as well and would love to follow you progress. Thank you and love your videos ❤️
OMG! I freaking LOVE gardening! If you can, go with something similar to a no-dig garden - lots of compost, minimal tilling, wood chip paths that soak up excess water, and easy to pull weeds! And a hack that I'm still trying to learn is that short things that need shade can be grown under tall things that don't - quite the space saver!
I love that music sounds kind of like nursery music when you’re working with the lambs. The brown lambs are cute and look like calico cat patterns. Garden is an excellent idea.
Thats amazing your starting a garden! We have had one for a couplw of years now. Dont give up!! It can be frustrating at first but once you get the hang of it its super fun! Love your videos! Thank you for sharing with us!
Everything will be alright, Sandy. I can feel it. Yes, some things will be permanently different once the main chaos is over, but most of that will be an improvement from before. Just know that we are all here supporting each other in the ways we are able to. :)
She just wants her turn! Impatient girl! Take a bush hog to the stalks. Good luck with your garden. That brown lamb and the black ones are my favorite so far.
Your videos are awesome, why would we laugh at you, a garden is awesome and I know you can do it.Your videos are inspiring. I usually watch them two or three times.
The lambs always make my day! There so cute. I actually have sheep my self, there very loving creatures.😊❤️ Your channel is great Sandi!❤️😁 Have a awesome day!!!
I wish I had just a bit of ground so I could provide for myself, mom always had a vegie garden growing up I loved it. I am in a wheelchair and at the mercies of the government. I love what you are doing at your home, I know it's hard,, but what a blessing to have Family and land. Your such a strong lady, I am so proud of you ! I am in Ont too, lol so know the weather all too well, lol. Great job sweetheart!! Be blessed Hugs and Much Love to you and the Family.
I realize this is a year ago, but have you considered a raised bed of sorts? They can be made of wood, or I have also seen folks plant in half of a 44 gallon metal drum. If you put legs on them, you can easily tend to your plants from a wheel chair. No ground required except where to place your container, and a porch or patio will do just fine.
I love these more frequent vlogs! Gives me something to look forward to and get excited about during these crazy difficult times. Honestly, your vlogs are the only ones that I actively search for; I don't wait for the notification to pop up which is 3 or 4 minutes after the vlogs actually drops. I go to your channel and wait for the vlog to show up, which is pretty much immediately. I love you so much Sandi! I have shared your story about the difficulties during these times, with lower demand for lambs and lower prices, with my family and friends. They are all now praying for my "friend" Sandi, my favorite shepardess! And you know I pray for you every day. You are so loved my friend. 💙 Megan in North Carolina 💙
A poultry farm near us in Michigan had an outbreak among the workers and they said that the farm has to stay open. They provide eggs to half the country. 34 cases of the virus so far spread out in three counties. Hope it doesn't turn out to be more.
Doing a garden is an awesome thing! Maybe some of your friends or other family that don’t have room to garden can help with it and everyone will get the benefits of it! 👍🏼❤️👍🏼❤️👍🏼❤️👍🏼
Won't be laughing at the "garden" - it's been since I was in college (30 years ago) that I've been able to grow veg successfully! Thanks for taking us along for the ride today!
Love that little brown lamb you held up. Hope it’s a girl. I’m getting my garden started soon, too. Still getting some low temperatures at night. Going to try potatoes in a bucket.
That garden is H-Ewege!!!!!! Are you planning on feeding your town with that?!?!? 😅😅😅 Garlic is one of the easiest things to grow and it tastes wonderful, ours grows well with our onions.
Get 3-6 chickens for eggs and make a mobile run/coup that you can shift daily. Plenty of designs on yt. Swap a bit of lamb for a bit of beef and milk. A few fruit trees/vines/berries.
I love your relationship with Jack! Being a mother myself who has an adult son who I adore … seeing Jack want to hang out with you (even if he’s getting paid 😊).. it’s still so sweet. ❤
Love all the coloring on that lamb! It’s gotta be a keeper..... with the brown coloring face is super sweet! Glad your having good weather for the last four prego sheep! That’s awesome too try doing your own garden, wish I had a farm for big garden, I only do pot garden on my deck....
Brave girl putting in such a big garden! Yes, use straw to mulch between rows instead of constantly tilling to keep down weeds. You know it is better for the soil health, plus the straw will keep the soil cooler in the heat of summer and hold more moisture in the soil. I personally prefer shorter rows with more varieties in case one of them fails for some reason. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Watching your farm is a joy for me. Best wishes in all your endeavors!
I think it's wonderful that you're taking this opportunity and trying your hand at a garden for your family!! It's a wonderful thing to provide, and when you eat your own produce, which you worked for, it will be all that much better!! Awesome job to begin with!! I applaud you and your efforts to simply begin with, and with your experience as a farmer, you'll have a great harvest!!! A huge haul of lambs, and they all look so big and healthy too!!! Soon to be done with this lambing group, and wait for the next!!! It'll be here before we know it! I just can't get enough of your sheep videos!!! Thanks again, and I'll always say this, but thanks again for your efforts in everything you do to provide us these amazing videos to share with us your life. My days are complete with Sandi and her Sheep!!
40+ yrs gardening, 25 years drip irrigation, now switching to flat tape buried with black plastic mulch. Why? No weeds, automated watering. Black plastic extends growing season and allows tomatoes and other summer veg to survive our cool nights and fruit. Flat irrigation tape is cheaper and lasts years longer than any drip system or soaker hose. Good Luck in the garden! Love your videos!
Hi Sandi ~ That speckled lamb was sooo cute. I just about 15% of your energy and I could get everything done I have to do. Lol! True! The garden will be fine. It is a family garden, right? So, family helps. It’s easy-peesy! Okay, you’ve got this, dear lady. I see the affection, by the way. Don’t know how I missed it. Thanks, Sandi. God bless all. 😉😁
I have the same worries about after quarantine. So, you're not alone. Just remember to take time for self care, even if it's just a 15 minute break. Sometimes those little breaks can make a world of difference.
Poor Jess. I feel badly for the kids who are stepping up from elementary to middle school middle school to high school and those who are graduating from high school. It is a hard time for all and one that we will never forget. Nice surprise with the triplets 🐑🐑🐑
You’ll do fine on gardening. I stopped gardening a couple years ago, and decided that it’s time to stop being lazy and get back into it! So good luck on yours. I started a stupid amount of seedlings. I know one thing we won’t starve.!
Idea with your garden. After all this Covid stuff. You can get some help with looking after the garden with volunteers as long as they get produce for their time. The farmers here do it with the Collective kitchen group (low income families that cook together to stretch their buying power) you win and they win.
We have absolutely no lamb at all at our WalMart, or the two large regional stores! I don’t know if Canada ships meat to US, but we are getting severely short in the meat Dept. We are still on Stay at Home orders, here in Maine, until June 1st.! May is going to be a long month!! Love seeing all aspects of your farm and had no desire to laugh at your veggie garden! I don’t know when you’ll find the hours in the day to add more work, but, the outcome will be truly worth it!! Love you, Sandi and all!!
The issue is that Walmart doesn't buy local meat. They should but they won't. Ontario lamb can be hard to come by which is a shame. The only places I know are Butcher shops and the Zehrs in Startford.
The problem with supermarkets is they only use certain suppliers and when those suppliers stop delivering it all goes down. Is it time for the family butchery, fruit and vege and small grocery stores to rise again? That aren't dependent on big suppliers but many small suppliers. Food for thought. Same with manufacturing and pharmaceuticals.
Sandi , regarding the garden , a slight suggestion , how about doing a challenge between Jack / Jess in the garden , maybe a reward at the end , the knowledge they will learn , pictures , u tube video , we can ask questions , watch , maybe a few laughs !! Very proud 👏 of this Family Rock & Roll , Jack / Jess , or should I say " prepare , plant, & harvest , stay safe , enjoy each day ! Bob
The garden will be fabulous! Excited to see it ! I'm not laughing, I think it's awesome! :) Sometime...maybe when you do another Q & A, could you explain what the "Steel/Steele" rams are? I've tried to Google. Also, since you have shipped 8-ish ewes, will you replace them in the breeding ewe group? I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your videos, Sandi!
Sandi - With regard to growing things. We have a stepping stone in our "flower" garden that says, "I tried, it died." Yes, we have been stricken with black thumbs here at our house. It's ok. We have learned to plant things that can take a lot of abuse, and still come back each year. Good to hear the prices were good for your lamb sale. Blessings to you, Mark, and your family. Stay safe, and stay strong.
Growing a garden is a really good idea, nothing to laugh about! What actually made me laugh is that a farmer feels self conscious about having a vegetable garden. It's nice to be self sufficient in some things and not to have to go to the store all the time, just make sure you don't have too much going on. Straw is really nice to have in the paths to keep down weeds and that used straw is a wonderful mulch for the garden if you let it compost a bit! (the tummy and back-end wool of the sheeps works too!) Mulching plants (putting the straw around them after they have germinated) is really good at keeping weeds down and you don't need to water as much either.
You know, everyone, everywhere is in a similar situation. It's all unsettling and no one can know where it's going to go. But we must continue on. To do otherwise is chaos for us all.
You’ll do great with the garden!!! Don’t stress about it. Lots of the plants you mentioned are really forgiving. Make a climbing trellis out of a cattle panel for your cucumbers.
Sandi once again great video !! Having a garden is great, growing your own vegies is the way to go right now with covid>19 but you are a busy lady and weeds in the garden stink, THANKS
We are in our late 60’’s and early 70’s. Told hubby we are going more canning this year. Didn’t do any last year because of health issues. This year we are doing great, do canning season here we come.
To laugh at you would be laughing at myself! I grow a garden every year and have for the last 5-6 years. Some years are great and then theirs last year where everything went wrong! Between having my squash plants nailed by a lone boar, to having the replacements nailed by a gopher! I got no squash, tomatoes just didn’t do well. I got a few but nowhere near what the usual harvest looks like! If your interested come by the FB group The Rusted Garden and join us! Lots of helpful tips and tricks to be found with little to no drama(Gary has a no drama policy that is strictly enforced)
So very cute little lambie 😘 you showed us with the brown markings ! I think that's a great idea setting up a garden....You have the space and you have the help and can feed all your families and more ! With all that has transpired and continuing, it's a very wise and practical decision to do so.....👍 💞
After watching Cole the Corn Star today he said that if you say his dname when you call for an estimate for your setup, ask for Culver BT choppers to cut down your corn stalks so you don’t have to go over and over the same ground so many times.
GARDEN 🥰 GREAT. Can not wait. The hard part is Harvest and canning. Be sure to stock up on canning supplies. They might run low, as more people WISE ENOUGH to survive this, will be canning.
Always encourage people to garden! I love growing my own food. I fail alot to grow some things (watermelons). But am happy for the things i can grow. It helps with my mental health.
A garden!! (I was so off base from the Cow Barn being the Ram pad!! Hahahaha!!) That is awesome!! I think you will do great!! You will have an organized system like you do your sheep. It is a mini-scale compared. Have faith cause it will also be a learning process and a great way to relieve stress, I say. :-) That little tricolor lamb is beautiful!! It is so adorable!!
Put some of your sheep manure/compost on it and disk it in. It will realky make it pop. I use my goat manure on mine and it is outstanding. Also check your last frost date before you plant. Can't wait to see your garden growing.
Sandi I garden on small scale, very small scale. 13 large pots on my deck. Green beans, peas, carrots, kale, arugula, lettuces, beets, broccoli, swiss chard, herbs such as basil, mint, dill, cilantro, oregano, thyme, lavender. So honey if I can do it so can you. Besides that it cheaper than buying veggies from the store. I prepped every thing last weekend.
I understand how your daughter feels. I just graduated from college with my bachelor's degree and the only reason that I knew I graduated is because I got a congratulations email. My actual tassel for my graduation regalia still has not come... Besides that I am very grateful because one of my businesses taken off and allowed me to donate to others in need!! Keep up the awesome work. You help with my daily animal fix not that I can't go to my family ranch...
Oh my goodness, the little lamb you held up to the camera (brown & white mottled) well he is just the cutest ever!!! If only I lived on a farm but, alas I do not. Please pet his little head for me.
I think it's great! I would do the straw between rows not only for weeds but also to help keep the moisture in the ground. Cuts down on watering a lot! Go big or go home! Your garden is huge! I'd love to have the ability to have one that big. Good luck!
Laugh, laugh, are you kidding, I admire you. I'm alone and up in age, but I still plant a garden. Next you need to learn how to preserve your harvest. I find peace and comfort in my garden. Looking forward to seeing you in your garden. Prayers
I hope you retain that brown one for breeding purposes. (S)He's gorgeous!

My favorite thing is watching the little babies wagging their tails. Probably the cutest thing I’ve ever seen ❤️

Totally in love with the brown lambs as well the all black ones. Plus the oreo looking lambs. Soooo cute!

Love your garden. Also, love the grey hairs...don't hide them. You have earned every single one of them.
I like Bruce as a name for one of the Billy's. Sheep farming is a massive thing here in NZ and Aussie, and Bruce is such a down under kinda name.

Just hang in there. We need to count our blessings on a daily basis especially now. I am blessed that my family is still around me.
How about naming The Billy's: Billy Bob, Billy Ray, and Billy Joel. A little bit of fun paired with homage to their Dad.
I love those names you made up. Sandi should use them.
Billy's Mom should be Billy Jean
Billie Jean
Sounds cute
I like that it’s a bit of fun
Yay! So excited you’re going to be gardening as well, although I don’t know how you manage to fit in everything in a day already. You’re Wonder Woman!

Nothing better for a garden than sheep manure, my best years were when I put down sheep manure and tilled it in before planting. Good luck!
apes4life brilliant idea. Get the straw and manure into it.
Here in Australia it’s a market garden 😊 But, if you have the space, go for it!

We love all the Billy lambs. Black with white tops! So adorable. When you call them Billy, we know which ones you’re talking about. ❤❤❤ 🐑 🐑🐑
Gardens are so worth it. We ate out of it all winter, and more coming soon. 🍅, eggplant, cucumbers, zucinni, peppers, herbs and potato
Many of farmers I have watched who are putting in gardens for themselves are going with raised beds instead of the old way. Thought to ponder!
That one lamb that is on the main picture of this video is so beautiful. Looks like he,she has freckles. I love that one.❤️
Hi Sandi ~
That speckled lamb was sooo cute.
Awww it looks like a big fluffy Smore😍
Totally!!!
Poor Jess. I feel badly for the kids who are stepping up from elementary to middle school middle school to high school and those who are graduating from high school. It is a hard time for all and one that we will never forget. Nice surprise with the triplets 🐑🐑🐑
Planting a garden in blocks of each variety is actually the best way to guarantee proper pollination.
Glad to have another video to watch! Just the break I needed! :)
Yayy!!
You’ll do fine on gardening. I stopped gardening a couple years ago, and decided that it’s time to stop being lazy and get back into it! So good luck on yours. I started a stupid amount of seedlings. I know one thing we won’t starve.!
You and Jess look so much alike, I have a hard time telling you apart in long shots. Good for you on the garden. No laughing.
Winifred Norwood hello fellow Mainer!!
Dembai popcorn is good girl
16:35 is why I never fuss about trying to read the numbers on your ewes.
Graffiti is hard on a wiggly ‘wall’. 🐑 🎨
You know, everyone, everywhere is in a similar situation. It's all unsettling and no one can know where it's going to go.
But we must continue on. To do otherwise is chaos for us all.
Falah Vlog...is some chap with a horse speaking Arabic...looking for views more than likely...waste of time
At least if we spend our time growing food... it won't be wasted time worrying....
I love watching the videos it brings back to my childhood thank u
Oh wow!! I wish I had that huge garden space!! I usually grow a big variety of veggies & can them every year. Glad the market price rebounded!!
Oh Sandi, I love watching you! I think it's great your having a garden!!
Thanks for keeping it real. Thats what keeps us watching.
I think you have a great idea. Gardens are full of hope and that's what we all need. Happy harvest.
So glad to see that you are still able to sell your sheep. God Bless. Stay safe honey, I sure look forward to your videos.
You’ll do great with the garden!!! Don’t stress about it. Lots of the plants you mentioned are really forgiving. Make a climbing trellis out of a cattle panel for your cucumbers.
Speak your truth Sandi! You CAN grow a garden! You know the science and have lots of support. I know you can do it!

Fantastic!!! If you can handle all the things you handle every day, you can handle a garden like a boss! If I can do it you can school us all!
I just love the spotty brown lamb! Just adorable!
That little tricolor lamb is beautiful!! It is so adorable!!
Put some of your sheep manure/compost on it and disk it in. It will realky make it pop. I use my goat manure on mine and it is outstanding. Also check your last frost date before you plant. Can't wait to see your garden growing.
Here in Ontario our last frost date is May 24!
Good luck with the gardening. Not laughing, you’re being smart and taking control. 👍
Good luck!
