This is one of my favorite places. Didn't you just love the atmosphere??? You have just shared another wonderful video. Thank you. Why don't you think about visiting Jonesborough, TN (close to Johnson City) if you like old towns and antique shops? If so, you will love it! Take care and stay safe!
They open the Deery Inn at various times during the year. My daughter is friends with the granddaughter of the owners and helps out by giving tours and demonstrations. The girls dress up like the 1800's and have a good time. We live about 7 or 8 miles toward Bristol just off of Hwy 126. I just discovered your channel and I'm loving your videos.
Thanks Melody and Shane. Enjoy your videos so much. Very lovely, relaxing and appreciate your studying up on the histories. Just curious but I gather you must live somewhere in SW VA right?
Love John Anderson and Tracy Lawrence sounds a lot like him. 2 great singers with great songs! Back in the 90s I worked artist relations for the country expo. Was fortunate enough to assist a lot of great artist. Tracy is an incredible guy. Very humble!
I love checking out old historic settlements like this one. That bell still sounds good after it's been sitting outside since around 1970 or so. That it's in such great shape, is a testament to the craftsmanship of the people who ran the foundry that made the bell. Those round stones that are scattered around on the ground between the old log buildings, are grinding stones from an old gristmill that must have once stood in the settlement. The area around Blountville looks pretty prosperous, but no surprise since its in this part of Tennessee. Thanks for another nice ride through Appalachia. Ya'all be safe now, ya hear? My favorite John Anderson song is Seminole Wind. It's a beautiful, bittersweet song about all the ways that unthinking development has long been hurting the natural beauty of Florida. It always makes me cry.
What a great area I have spent quite a bit of time in Blountville and absolutely love the area and the history . I’d move there today if I could! Thank ya kindly for showing us all !
We certainly enjoyed the video today on this COLD DAY IN JANUARY, thanks for all y’all do and show us a lot of history! Thanks for ringing the bell!! There was another one at the law office you should have rang ! The Mill stones were just wonderful the way they had them in the ground for stepping stones, also liked the DUNCE hat in the old law office where the school desks were! Thanks again stay safe!
Oh my gosh I watched some of the videos with Shane by himself he drove too fast and almost asleep I’m so glad Mel is on these now or I wouldn’t be watching.
Thank you Shane & Melody for another great video. I love seeing all the old houses and cabins . I always loved watching movies and reading books on the Civil War . Up here by Ceaser Creek we have a place called Pioneer Village that has alot of very old cabins from around different areas of Ohio and they have a civil war reenactment every September and they have people there that tells you how it was like back in those days . I just love it .
Oh man!!! You were in our neighborhood, we would've treated you to lunch! Oh well, if you ever head to Bluff City or the Holstein Dam or River, give us a heads up if you like, that's our backyard.
I'm from Mercer county WV and before they legalized fireworks i was in blountville every year getting fireworks to sale to the good folks of Mercer county lol
HAHA! An old dunce cap. They were still using those up until the early 1970`s or they made you stand at the front of the class by the blackboard facing into one of the corners of the room. 😃🤣 Oh yeah, in the older schools they made you sit in the coatroom behind the blackboard. That happened to me once for being a practical joker in the 3rd grade.😁
Blountville and Sullivan Co. in general has always been somewhat of a lone wolf. They remained relatively neutral during the civil war, has its own stand alone health department independent of the state, (I think 1 of only 7, don’t hold me to that). The government of Sullivan Co., has always ran independent, the reason for unincorporation is based mainly on annexation or the lack of ability to by Kingsport and Bristol. As for “Blount” ville, it was named for William Blount, an American founding father, and signor of the Constitution. We’re kinda self sufficient around here and it’s protected our little community. Fourth generation here.
And we don't really want a bunch of out of towers coming in and setting up they've already logged the woods next to 394 and all up 11w towards Kingsport. It's people from other states coming in and cutting down our trees and flattening our farmland it pisses me off because we just lost our farm to a Yankee who wants to build a damn apartment
Another great video Melody and Shane ! Always look forward to your new ones :) Do you use the same camera for video from the car as well as when you are walking? The camera is doing some very good videos and was curious on which model you have! Keep up the good work!
It’s true! When my brother and his girlfriend took me to Tour her Hometown, she must’ve said the name 20 times but till I saw it in writing I had no idea how to spell or pronounce it!!! Lol I love accents, I’m from Boston

Locals refer to Blountville as a Community. Blountville Community….that has a nice ring about it. ♥️
It does indeed, very inviting
Blountville Is a geographical oddity. It’s a few minutes from everywhere.
