Tips from a "high time" pro Zoom user: 1) To me, 2.7k@60 looks the best overall. It's a teeny bit cropped, but is super sharp. And, 60p allows for a little higher shutter speed....but on bright days you'll be pushing 600-900 without any ND. You MUST BUY an ND 8 and 16. 2) Start with -1 and -1 on sharpness and contrast. Always use your software to push the sharpness, not the drone! 3) I do NOT use CINE (LOG) profile! It raises the effective ISO by hundreds....exactly like the Sony mirrorless cameras do, to flatten the contrast. Use STANDARD or LANDSCAPE profiles (with regular color) and start at -1 on contrast and -1 on color as well- IF you want to de-saturate and do your color correct properly by again using software in post. There is SO much less sensor noise going this way. You can verify this by comparing the max ISO's in AUTO modes using CINE and regular color. Notice the limits? Low light is where the Zoom drone falls on its ass. But, in good light and properly shot the Zoom is EVERY bit as sharp and gorgeous as the optional "Walletbleed" camera on the 2 Pro. 🤣🤣🤣 4) One quirk: the max zoom of 96mm is only available shooting in 1080p@30, 25, and 24 fps modes. In 4k and 2.7k, the zoom is hard limited to 48mm. SO dumb DJI! WHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY???? 5) H.265 looks great! 6) DO adjust the EXP gains.....that's why it's there! 7) HAVE FUN
Thanks for the video getting the zoom will use these settings . I am taking pictures and videos with the spark. getting good results much with some of the same settings but going to fine tune thanks again for the get videos.
Nice one Billy thanks for the tips on setting for better footage because I just upgraded to the mavic 2 zoom yesterday and I did a bit of a flight and the footage was like a hyperlapes so hopefully this will help me thanks very much and keep safe and fly safe Billy and I hope you have a great weekend my friend take care 😎👍👍
Have you considered using flight captures for the thumbnails? Lately it looks like these just sit on your desk all day if people just go by the thumbnail photo.
Hello Billy I'm a big fan of your videos . First question I have is why I do not have the critically low battery alarm in my settings it's very strange it is supposed to be located above the low battery alarm on the remote. Second I also do not have the setting that enables you to charge your phone with remote. I have a feeling my remote is charging my phone because the remote doesnt stay charged for very long and would like to have the option to turn it off if it is enabled but I have no way of knowing. Your help would be much appreciated. Thank you !
@Billy Kyle Can you please do a short video about how you edit footage in post? Im having issues with H265 footage in Resolve and Premiere .... It would also be nice to see best practices to import and encode those files as part of an editing \ coloring workflow.
Hi nice explain 👍 still have one question! On your left corner you see the map overview when you click on that. It's yellow/green !! On my screen!! But in your phone it's white 😀 how can I fix this? And can I use Google maps instead? Thanks for answering 👍😎 Mavic 2 Zoom
Very informative video!! I have a question though, if i don't have a ND filter can i just increase the shutter speed by keeping the iso as low as possible? And what are the consequeces if i do that? Also there's the exposure value ev what's that? Thank you
Quick advanced question about the Mavic Pro 1 for anyone: If you’re filming in DLog and go into a quick shot mode, does the drone switch your picture profile out of DLog into something else during the quick shot?
Is there a way to set the ISO to change automatically, while the shutter speed is fixed? What do you do as the scene gets darker/brighter as you fly? (shadows, clouds coming in etc)
Much needed! Thanks. Re custom settings: is there no longer an issue with the + sharpness as it was for the Mavic 1 and Air to increase the noise in the shadows? In the same set of settings, contrast and saturation also have been suggested to be lowered in the previous models (-3,-2 or similar) Please advise
So , If changes are somewhat being made afterwards, through a computer, editing. Color grading. It would not be the best settings for the camera. Straight out of the box settings ? Without changing anything with a computer. What would they be ?
@@billykyle Even though the Histogram shows you more detail about the exposure do you usually set yours as close to 0 as you can or do you, as some have said in reviews, set your EV a little + or -?
Bill, I've been studying with you for a while now. I have a question you may know the answer to. I was tweaking all the settings that you suggested in the above video. Connected to RC here on my desk while I watched the video. That took about half hour as I played with all the settings. I did a couple of 2 minute test flights. 81 degrees here on the east coast. 3rd time it would not allow flights. CRITICAL OVERHEATED CHIP WILL TURN OFF IN 10 SECS. I called and spoke to them. They explained why it overheated with the air intakes not working while not flying. The part that has got me bummed is 2 hours later I'm getting the same warning and it's night time and cool now. I'm grounded. Can you take a moment to comment please.
I noticed yesterday my Mavic 2 Zoom's auto exposure is too bright! I must switch to manual to compensate. Not a problem, but why would the auto exposure not work properly? The color profiles are lame as well!
I have a question. I have the zoom, but I do not have a Mac or Pc. I do have a ASUS zen pad 10. And if I can find luma Fusion in the play store, will I be able to use it for post. Other wise I wasn’t planning on doing post anyway. Your opinion please, Thank you Kerry
quik question sorry im new but how do i add that white and black graph on my display and what is that actually for and what does it do? thanks and sorry if that has already been answered elsewhere... thanks in advance god bless
Billy, Great videos and thanks for all the help. Quick Question. I have a Mavic 2 Zoom and Im getting a lot of False Obstruction Warnings in any conditions flying at around 200feet where the drone comes to a hover after a couple of seconds Its good to go again, found not using full forward joystick helps but have you come across this problem and any suggestions. I know lots of other people are having this issue.
I've tried flying my Zoom in Go4 but the app won't connect to the aircraft. I get the following message: the current device cannot use DJI Go4 please check the relevant manual and download the correct app to use. I normally fly it in DJI Pilot and the settings are VERY limited as to what i can do in both still pics and video. Any advice?
Hi billy! I have a problem with my mavic 2 zoom! And I’ve been trying to fix it for nearly a week now with no results! Tried to contact dji tried all the settings available tried everything with no results! My camera gimbal points to the left as default, no too much but enough to complicate my footage and when I try to fly in straight line it loses my subject! Tried everything and still points to the left! I would be happy if you can provide me with any possible solution or advise. I can center the camera if I want by holding my finger on the screen and slide carefully but when I reset it with the c1 button it goes back to looking left again! Can you please do any research and help me out?
hi Billy , is possible portrait mode in this drone ? or is just a feature that mavic pro have ? . also is possible control the zoom smoothness? thank you
Need HELP! I went into the setting of the Mavic 2 Zoom and clicked on the multi-shot of the camera. It gives you the choice of shooting 3,5, or 7 rapid shots and SUPPOSED to stitch them together. When I go back into the drone to download the pictures into my computer all I see is on the settings of 3 shots, three individual shots, setting of 5 shots, 5 individual shots and the same with seven shots. I do not see anything being stitched together. Any help here?

Great video, as always, question: how would you compare landscape photos zoom vs m2p ? As need drone for real estate and still hard to make decision.
One issue with the MP2z is while zooming the exposer goes from good to way too dark so you almost need to use auto when doing a lot of zooming.
Hei, Billy...I just got the zoom..is there a chance you can adjust the zoom speed ?
Im looking for this setting too

Good information! I wonder if there is an advantage to using a Histogram over just looking at the EV numerical value at the top of the page?
Histogram gives you more detailed information about your shadow levels, highlight levels, etc.
