      You are welcome. Importing from Blender is my weak spot. I rarely do it and sometimes I have to try more than once to get the tool to work. I have learned that the more recent version of Blender are hit or miss on the export. The export tool needs to be updated but the tool is a community thing and not a Blender thing so we are at somebody's mercy.

    Thank you soooo much!! I had just completed a custom model in blender and watched several different UA-camr tutorials trying to get my model into MSFS, frustratingly without luck.
    I was thinking all my hard work was for nothing then I found your video. Your instructions were so clear, well paced and easy to follow. Sure enough, I was able to get my model to load all thanks to your tutorial. Cheers! I subbed and liked.

      That is good news. I am glad it worked for you. That is all I can do in Blender. LOL I wished I could do more because I would go crazy adding items to MSFS. But, I can't find the motivation. At times I need items built and finding a reasonable modeler is also hard. Good luck and happy flying and modeling and all of those good things.

    thanks mr. kind american sounding man for his godsent tutorial, the first one that actually worked, probably also due to it being the newest. after over a day of frustration over a thing that seems like it should be so simple to do, i was finally able to import my selfmade model of the "puig de randa" radar bowl into the sim. thank you 10000 times!!!!

      Awe thanks for the kind words. I think am a nice kind person until somebody screws over me. I don't like the screwed-over version of me. 🤣
      As for your export, that is great. I have been having issues with that myself but I found out why. My SSD died (under warranty thank goodness) but when I installed the new drive and loaded all of the stuff, I picked up the latest version of Blender. The MSFS Blender plugin is inconsistent with a more recent version of Blender. Hopefully, somebody with knowledge will update the plugin. But for now, Blender 2.83 is the easiest way for MSFS exports.

    Thank you AGAIN for another very informative video - I really like your method of teaching - calm, clear, concise.
    I have just one question - I am confused with an OBJ file model as it seems to also be accompanied with an MTL file. Did your water tower come with OBJ and MTL and if yes, how did you import that into Blender?
    Regards,
    Dane

    • @patriotsix5880
      @patriotsix5880  Рік тому

      Hello, again Dane. It has been a while (over a year) since I imported that model. I would have to watch my own video to do it again. I am thinking it is an OBJ file that I bought and downloaded. I scrambled around to find the original file and I finally found it. And it is an OBJ file.
      It seems from memory that you maybe convert the file to a GTIF to work in MSFS but as I said already, I would have to watch my own video because I do not import many models. They are expensive as hell.
      I also recall I had to go get a couple of Blender Modules. Maybe OBJ importer is standard and I had to add the GTIF exporter for MSFS but I can't remember. I took a screenshot but I cannot share it here in the UA-cam comments. I looked to see if you are a member of my Facebook group and there is a Dane W***** in the group but I am not sure if that is you or not.
      If it is not you, then you are welcome to join and I can share the screenshot of the import. If you are the Dane in the group, let me know and I will share this image. I don't know if it will be helpful but it shows the Wavefront OBJ import and where to find it in the Blender menu. facebook.com/groups/788136852324508

      @patriotsix5880  2 роки тому +1

      I am not a pro either. I am a long way from being a pro. I would discourage you from using the Earth2 MSFS tool for airports. I understand that is the first instinct we have. However even though the resolution works well with areas you fly over, the resolution of the aerial photography is not high enough to give a satisfying result at an airport. To objects, we are very close to. Your best option is to hope that your airport is handcrafted by a creator or that your airport is small enough for you to upgrade the buildings. I do cover upgrading small airports in one of my tutorials. You can try but I think you will be disappointed. In addition, any aircraft sitting on the tarmac during the areal photo shoot will appear on the tarmac and they are butt ugly. A very low poly Facsimile of an airplane. Good luck. Have courage. You can't mess up.

      You can. You can make temporary packages for testing. And then, once you are satisfied, you can make a permanent package. This video is dated. I have been considering updating the video but have yet to get around to it. There is an updated plugin, and you can use later Blender models. I will link a video of a friend. He is not importing models, but his video shows where to get the updated plugin. I have an idea. It may be the Blender version you are using. Unfortunately, the Blender MSFS addon needs an update and only works up to Blender 2.8.3. It has been a minute, so I need to refresh my memory on the version numbers. You can go back to the Blender versions. I am not a Blender expert. So, you may want to join the Patriot Six Group on Facebook. We have folks that use Blender in the group, and I am sure the Blender version can be verified through the community. The MSFS addon might work on 3.0. Regardless,

    • @patriotsix5880
      @patriotsix5880  4 місяці тому +1

      Unfortunately, you cannot. The tiles are tied to specific GPS locations. Also, the resolution is good enough to use while flying above but not good enough to use close-up. You can go to Google Earth and zoom in as close as you can and you will get an idea of what your buildings will look like. Not so good up close. I have made several videos on building fictional airports or rebuilding an existing airport. Let me know if you want me to point to the videos. Good luck.

      Yes sir I am aware. My Blendeer knowledge is very limited but I am aware of the export issues. That video was made last year. I can't remember exactly but it is maybe a year old. The problem is that you can edit the content after it is uploaded. What I typically do is change the title to say "outdated" and created a newer version. Mark, it is a mess. I have a friend who between us we worked out some of the issues. The export works best on Blender 2.83. I have 3.01 I think and the plug-in will not work on 3.01. It is complicated with the plug-in running behind Blender updates. My friend is more on top of this than me because I am not very interested in Blender. So when he talked to me I nod as if I get it. LOL I would try the older version of Blender. It seems to export very easily. If you still can't get it after that, I am sure my friend, just another MSFSer like us can give you a hand. Be warned, your head may explode. LOL Let me know. I have multiple ways to be contacted.

Have made a little progress using Asobo's exporter but I think there's something wrong with the model...maybe, it's from TurboSquid like your water tower and named "Old School Motorcycle Classic Model turbosquid 1706447". I don't care for the color but that's the least of my problems and it was only twelve bucks. A whole lot of red when the package gets built. @@MarkM001 You know, I did not know this at the time I made the video but have since learned. It seems the only models that properly export textures to MSFS are Blender models. The models have to be a power of two, basical;y a perfect square like 1072X1072 and not 1072X720 ETC blah blah blah. Where I got lucky is the water tower looks metallic enough to work. My buddy completely built my daughter's cafe with all of the details in Blender and it is great. I wish I could show you but you cant in UA-cam chat. My friend ahs really gotten into modeling and has rebuilt KMIA as it appears in real-life. You can email me at patriotsix9677@comcast.net and I can show you pictures. You will like it. I have learned a lot from my friend in Cape Coral in the last month or so. He is really getting good in Blender and he is self taught. Another old man like me with time to burn but I prefer other creative work and not 3D.
