Animating an ASR for MSFS 2020: with Blender 3.1 and Asobo Exporter
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 вер 2024
- This is a video showing how to animate an object in Blender and exporting it to Microsoft Flight Simulator using the new Asobo Exporter.
However, the animation steps are almost identical to the Blender2MSFS export for older versions of Blender.

Great Video Christopher!!! Thank you!!
Thanks for this video Christopher, it has helped me greatly. Many thanks again. Keep ‘em coming.
My pleasure! Thanks for watching.
Thank you very much. Top clear explanation.
Thank you for watching!
crazy work! i like it! hahaha
Thank you for this. Are we limited to "Standard" for type? Where can we find other definitions in the SDK?
Unfortunately we are limited....for now
I love your videos so much. I'm making some great strides on developing scenery for MSFS and hope to share it with you soon!
This is an awesome, very accurate looking model of an ASR-8/9. I have one SMALL criticism of this...
I'm an air traffic controller and use one of these daily..... you animated it backwards! They turn clockwise! LOL
Thank you so much. It would be a pleasure to see them.
I'll get it switched around then!
@@myphysicalworld3958 thank YOU! Looking forward to some more of your projects.
😁👍👍 Christopher this is awesome! I'm using MSFSToolkit 0.41.4 with Blender 3.1.2. What would I have to do different to export this animation? Uh Oh... another obligatory question...
Speaking of animation, in X-Plane 11 it was very easy to animate custom vehicle traffic routes to-from the airport terminal bldg using scripts (LUA scripts IIRC). I scheduled a variety of vehicles to 'drop off passengers' at the terminal and it really gave life to the airport. The routes were just looped on time intervals. I believe it's possible to do this in MSFS but I'm clueless. Are you familiar with this type of animation? Thanks again!
Shouldn't be different. As for animation loops, I don't have a video made for that yet, but Federico Pinotti does.
@@myphysicalworld3958 I just watched his tutorial and subscribed. Thanks for the tip! 😁
Slighlty off topic but I'm looking for advice for buying a laptop to work on blender and scenery. I might not always have an internet connection. Any advice from yourself or your viewers would be great.
I have a Lenovo P17 Mobile Workstation ThinkPad, 17" screen, I7 11th Gen, 32GB Ram, 1TB SSD, 6GB video. External 32" monitor wired HDMI. Doesn't miss a beat and I use engineering software and geographic information system software that is much more taxing than MSFS and Blender.
@@myphysicalworld3958 thanks for taking the time to reply.
@@cutlass6332 Many will say stay away from laptops, but I totally disagree. The only thing is to make sure you purchase cooling fans, only draw back for laptops is heat management. However, with fan pads you will be fine.
@@myphysicalworld3958 aye very good advice, I've not owned a laptop for a while but I've got time to study at work (crazy but true) so looking to keep the brain ticking over on the quiet days.
Thanks for the great video. How can you control the speed of the rotation on your object? I'm currently working on making a rotating remote tower camera that rotates rather fast.
By increasing revolutions per unit frames....if you have 360 per 90 frames and want faster revs...then it could be 720 per 90 frames...twice as fast.
Hey Christopher, how could we only animate the model between certain times? For example, make the radar only rotate during the day? Can that be done as a modellib object or does it have to be a SimObject? Thanks for the video
That would be a SimObject. But it isn't that complicated. I have plans to show that at a later date.
Did you read my mind? I needed this for the airbase I'm slowly trying to make. Any chance you'd release the model or you gonna make me build my own?
Haha, yeah, build your own...lol. no really, I can share the blender file.
Hello, Appreciate everything you are showing on your youtube channel. I have made successfully many models but when trying to build this one, it is a rotating beacon light with spot lights in Blendr. im getting this error when to build any thoughts of what it could be? sorry for the long comment..... * are my name/project blanked out.

@@myphysicalworld3958 hi is it the following? thanks!
@@phil499 couple of typos....in the Animation tag...at end of guid number need a single quote " instead of a greater than....after "Autoplay" you have a period, remove that.
@@myphysicalworld3958 ok great MY BAD THANKS!
