I don't think you need the extra feature for your car. If you are close enough, you should see your car. I think it'd be more handy in luggage or lost keys.

The AR finder feature exclusive to the Smart Tag+ however requires a Galaxy phone that supports Ultra Wide Band starting with the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, S21+/Ultra, S22+/Ultra, Z Fold 2 and 3.

You're wrong about the Phones needed for the smart tag plus, as long as you download smart things app and have android 11 or higher, you can use any Samsung phone with the plus. Samsung posted the newer devices as a selling feature to promote the new phones. this will work with the s10 and s10+. Unless you have an s20/21 the AR won't work with the s10/+. But the tag still functions and performs with the older phones.

I think you misunderstood, you are right that pretty much any Samsung will work with the Smart Tag Plus, however there are certain phones that can take advantage of the ADDITIONAL features that the Smart Tag Plus has over the regular Smart Tag. These additional features require Ultra Wide Band, a technology which was first implemented on the Note 20 Ultra. I hope that clears things up for you🙂

Very good explanation. My phone is Note 20, thus regular Tag is what I will purchase.
Suggestion, please do not play background music. Many folks have hearing difficulties, many with English language challenges as well. The background music makes it difficult understanding you. Yes, we turn up the sound to better hear you, but then we have fight louder music as well. As you can imagine the music quickly becomes quite annoying, thus ruining an otherwise excellent video. Thank you for your understanding.

Hi. This may sound like a stupid question. So apologies in advance. I own a lawn care business in the UK. If I hid some of these devices away from any heat source on my machinery and the machinery was to get stolen and moved many miles away. Would I be able to track where my stuff is via wherever the nearest Samsung phone is to my stolen stuff? Hope this makes sense
Absolutely yes. As long as they're in range of a Galaxy phone the smart tag can be tracked regardless of location

Recantly they also added history function as well so you can see the last 7 days where the item was (iphone and previous older version smartthings only shows lasted location reported)

I did a bunch of research about the smart tag and smart tag plus and for some reason non of the review mentioned that the AR doesn't work on older Samsung phones (S10)...and of course the first review I find that mentions this is right after I receive both of the Smart tag + I ordered...wish I saved $20 and bought the regular Tag since the Plus Tag is slightly larger as well.
Depends on where you purchase from theres always the option to return it

As an owner of note 20 ultra plus which one do you recommend to buy for more precision?Money aren't issue.
I personally wouldn't bother with the plus. There was no perceivable difference in tracking accuracy

Any updates on phone compatibility for the Tag+ ? Looked on Samsung & they list support for the phones you mention (S21 & S21+) and ZFold2, but no mention of ZFold3. Does anybody know? Doesn't look like Samsung has updated their info for 2022. Thanks

Can you charge the smart tag with reverse wireless charging?
No the smart tag doesn't have wireless charging capabilities. It has a replaceable watch-style battery. It cannot be recharged.

How long is the battery life and what battery does it use?
The Smart tag is about 12months and the Smart tag plus is about 6months. They both use regular watch batteries
Key notes: regular smart tag is compatible with multiple Samsungs while the smart tag+ only works on a 21+ or a 21 ultra
+ works on any Samsung phone (it's The precise AR finder that can't function)

I returned the plus immediately because of the poor battery life. When I received it, it had half of its battery life when I first activated. The regular smart tag is still on full battery and I'm going on 4 months..Overall the smart tag works excellent
Thats pretty crazy. Would be really good if Samsung released and update version of the Plus because as it stands right now it's really difficult to recommend

The tag itself with work, you just won't have access to the UWB precision tracking

The tag itself will work on Android 8.0 upwards but the AR finding feature won't. Hope that helps🙂

Battery only lasts 6 months? Is the battery rechargeable or replaceable?
Replaceable battery. So far I found the Tag+ lasted about 6-7 months, while the regular Tag lasted over a year
Active owner of the smarttag plus I am getting approx 10 months battery life from 6 smarttags (I strongly recommend renaming your tags with (15/05/22) for example so you know when you put the battery in or used the supplied battery with the tag
Airtag supplied battery is compleaty isolated with a pull plastic tab, samsung and chipolo are active in the box just have to press the button to pair them so likely first use battery might be not a good (still got 10 months on smarttag)
One thing I did not like non of my smarttags in smartThings app notified me when the battery was low they just simply stopped working silently (the date got stuck on a day of where it last broadcasted its location) unsure how the battery meter works on apple as on smarttag it has 3 levels of report (normal 16-100%, low 6-15% very low 0-5% but that didn't work this year around on smarttag all was in normal Level when battery was insufficient to power them anymore) all apple airtags do currently have a notch missing out of the battery in the find my network app so they are probably at 20% or less I guess (just going to keep Running them until they stop)
trying Duracell in others and 2 with Energizer CR2032 see if they give me low battery notification next year (but that be 10 months ish from now before that happens)
Airtags seem to have more battery life as I haven't replaced them yet, 6 of them was active on the 06/21 (with supplied battery) so might get more then 12 months probably from Looks of it, I use a cheap iPhone 8 with free (Internet with legs) 200mb per month ThreeUk network sim (I also have an iPhone SE v1 WiFi only as well witch was outside for 3 months before I found it again) , just have mobile data set to only work for the find my app and browser

Note: These tags only work with Samsung Galaxy devices. I purchased one and downloaded the app on my android phone. The app gave me an error that it only works with Samsung devices. I sent it back and ordered a Tile Pro.

You don't have to buy a new phone. The regular one works with the other Samsung phone models.

Common misunderstanding. The basic tracking settings work with pretty much all Samsungs. It's just the feature that uses the camera to pinpoint the exact location is only compatible with a few Samsungs that have UWB technology
@@ATMTech Well damn I have the regular S20 so does the SmartTag+ now work with it? I mean has they done any updates on the supported devices?? The product page says: Galaxy devices with Android 8 or newer and UWB / AR Find supported devices.
@@Jokamutta so if you have the regular s20 you may aswel still with the standard smart tag. I doubt your phone would ever be compatible with the extra features because it requires UWB which is built into the hardware of a phone so it either has it, or it doesn't.

I think this would be perfect for a cat! The tracking is consistent and accurate enough where you should nearly always be able to have an idea where your cat it

I'm more concerned about the smart tag plus having less devices that it can connect to out there in the world. I think he best thing the Apple AirTag has going for it is how many Apple devices are out there to help ping its location. I can't believe the Smart Tag + doesn't connect to older phone even withe UWB. Unless I'm misunderstanding something.
That is untrue, the UMB feature of the + model is only active when your within 15meters of trying to find the smarttag+ with AR active
Both tags functions identically (and maybe only 6-8 months battery life vs 8-12m non plus)
@@leexgx so the + still connects to old phones the same way that the standard one does? I've been reading conflicting info and it's really annoying.
@@WaffleStomper69 + has a 15 foot precision UMB feature (witch is only feature on s21+ or higher phones) on phones that don't support UMB the + tag just works as normal (use power signal level only to find it)
UMB only actives when you enable it on your supported phone (AR precise finding) if you can't use AR then it just uses normal Low power Bluetooth to find it
I personally wouldn't bother battery life I believe on + is less battery life (seems like 6 months maybe, non plus can work for 10-12 months)
@@leexgx awesome thank you so much. It's been a while since I looked into these so I forget...do these share a network of Samsung devices to help find it? Meaning, if someone else walks past it with a Samsung devices does it detect it? Kind of like Apple devices do with Airtags
@@WaffleStomper69 yep apple Call it find my network (only for iPhone/ipad/imac/airtag and most apple accessories or chipolo Spot) Samsung call it offline finding (Samsung galaxy and samsung pad, ear buds, smarttag/+)
Your more likely to find your device with iPhone passively because find my network defaults to on when you setup an iPhone (and you require an apple account to even use the phone)
Samsung only recantly started to ask to turn it on, (it really should default to on when you setup the Samsung account and let the user decide to turn it off later) but you don't need a Samsung account to use a Samsung phone so not every phone has Samsung account setup

It's pretty academic. Airtags only work with iPhones. Galaxy tags only work with Samsung. So, unless you are ready to change phones.....
