One thing about Hamilton not taking his break is that he was scared of losing his job. He and Eliza had a huge family and he just got told (in the musical) that he will lose his job if he doesn't get his plan through congress and as the provider for his family, he needed that job

Alexander would never have cheated if he had just taken a break with Angelica, Eliza and Philip :'(

In real life, maybe. In the play, him & Angelica were longing for each other.
Yep. A few weeks upstate would've done him some real good. Quiet and peaceful countryside with the people he loved most in the world, away from all the politics and business in the city and his rivals on the Presidential Cabinet. Then he could've gotten back to his work with a clear head and a squeaky clean record. I don't think it would've created any kind of significant negative impact on any of the work he did to get the Compromise or any of his other projects through. And certainly, his enemies would've had zero ammunition to hurl at him during the Adams administration. If not for the Reynolds scandal, Alexander Hamilton very well could've run for president one day, and won. He was very popular up North and had the entire support of the Federalist Party-he founded it, after all.
@@LordCommander-ui2fw In this musical, he was trying to avoid getting close to Angelica under Eliza's watch.
It not really Hamilton fault bc he is very busy and maria came and started i dont want to say but maria could of have rap i dont want to say the following and he had to go with it
There can’t be a “Peggy” about this time she got married and then went into the light.
And Disney did not record the Hamilton Musical - the producers of the musical did using there own money and Disney purchased the broadcast (and I think also distribution) rights.
Glad that I am not the only one looking at animatics.
Peggy was sick and later died in 1801, I think it was in March, but I could be wrong. So that's why she's not there. Also her actress played Maria in the second act.
According to a clip I saw of Lin talking about Hamilton and why certain characters aren't really brought into the second act and aren't really mentioned again, the reason Peggy wasn't in act two is because she married rich and then died young, and since she didn't really have a huge role in the story, she just wasn't mentioned after the first act finished.

In addition to his commitment to his work, I also think we're meant to sense that Hamilton refuses the vacation because he knows he'll be too tempted to cheat with Angelica. The irony being, of course, that staying home alone didn't work out much better. :)

I read something about the comma thing on the letter from Ham to Angelica. It said that Ham was actually mocking Angelica for putting a comma on one of her letters to Ham ("My dearest, Hamilton) and said in his letter that if you it was intentional, use it again or something like that
Oh I thought that putting a comma after dearest implied that the person you’re sending it to is the dearest person in you’re life or something
Team Leo101 it is, but the musical did take liberties. There was no real relationship between Alexander Hamilton and Angelica, I unlike how there was a very sexual relationship with Laurens.
Summer Rose We’ll sexuality’s like bi and pan didn’t exist, but people seem to prefer calling Alexander bisexual.
@@starlaphantom2642 not necessarily. the relationship between alexander and laurens, and alexander and angelica were basically the same in history. they exchanged flirty letters, but we know nothing more
@@starlaphantom2642 Dude, just people didn't call people bisexual back then doesn't mean that sexuality "didn't exist". There have always been people who are attracted to both genders.

Unfortunately peggy is dead before act 2 died young but she married young which is why shes not in act 2
Historically, Peggy didn't actually die until after _The Reynolds Pamphlet_ (I saw it mentioned somewhere that in-musical, the reason Eliza is wearing black when she comes through the door in the reprise of _Stay Alive_ is because she'd just come from Peggy's funeral), but Peggy *was* ill around this time.
@@emperordaniel9595 actually lin manuel said himself that peggy had died before the second act that is why she is not in the second act
She had also died 6 years before he became the treasurer
However hamilton did visit her because he was on buisness where she was living at and kept eliza updated on her condition
@@Dancekidbeatboxer Historical!Peggy did *not* die before Hamilton became Secretary of the Treasury; she died in 1801, just eight months before _Phillip_ died in his duel.

Ik it’s kinda sad seeing Alex being so overworked but I like that he wants to give a better life for his family but sadly he forgot that all he needs to do is spend time with them. That’s even sadder :(

John Adams was the Vice President at this time. However, back then the role of Vice President was not very well defined and they as involved in the executive branch as modern VPs. Also, even though Hamilton and Adams were from the same party Hamilton did not respect Adams much and he thought that Adams was lazy and impulsive.
Fun Fact: The point everything goes downhill for Hamilton is when he says Macbeth.
No Peggy... they never explain in the musical but she died.

Eliza kinda annoys me a bit at times. cause like you said... do you know who you are married to? The fact is that Hamilton was ALWAYS like this and she married him knowing that but is now trying to make him change.
eliza's the kindest out of everyone, shes basically the only one who was an actually good person tbh

It was obvious AF Hamilton needed a break, he even admits it himself in Say No To This. Eliza was begging him to take a break with her and the kids. She could see he was stressed. Tired. That he needed to just let loose. She didn't want him to change, she just wanted him to be healthy. She could see that he was working overtime, and not caring about his own state of health. So she told him to take a break before something bad happened.
And what did he do? Cheat on her.
