- The final week of Season Of The Witch has reached us. For the main quest at least. Today we acquire the last tithe from Eris Morn, confront forces of Xivu Arath and revive savathun. Let’s explain everything that went down and what it means for the story leading up to the Final Shape expansion!

I like how savathun doesnt fear Ikora at all but when we step up she's like yea no, do what you want. Our guardian finally gets their recognition for killing so many gods over the years.
Why would she fear her nun of the hive where ever scared of us oryx literally faced us starving while we had plot and prep on our side he ain’t care bout shit the hive are the definition of smoke on sight

Because its only a 4 Billion Dollar company that rakes in millions in sales off the expansions alone. All they can afford to provide you for your $140 a year subscription, is 2 Raids, 1.5 Dungeons, a bunch of cosmetics and recycled content. And then for cutscenes, you get a 12 year olds Pastel paintings(with maybe some Crayola if youre lucky) and a literal boatload of author fanfiction in the form of Grimoire cards. Make sure to cough up another $140 for The Final Disappointment

@@NormalCardBoardBoxes I bought Beyong light and was dissapointed, but got it at discount so it's alright, then I bought Witch Queen at full price because it was amazing, still sad it could be better with Strand, and I bought the seasons for the year. Nowadays I haven't played nor bought the last expansion because it was awful but thought of buying this season because of the theme. I'll wait to the next year, see the changes and if bungie doesn't backup on their anticonsumer stand I'll keep seeing the story for free on youtube until it's eventual downfall.
It's a shame, the story is amazing and Destiny has been my favorite Shooter since the original release on Xbox, it feels great to shoot and use skills, but bungie as a company is trash.

She definately planned it, you can see her glancing at Eris' sword, yet she still got in close, plus, she cab take hundreds of hits to the face with a weapon made of her brother, no one can tell me she was trying to defend herself. Perhaps she didn't expect Eris to sever Xivu, but to try and kill her instead, but she definately planned the dying part, of Immaru is to be believed, Eris wouldn't have stood a chance against Xivu without that.
She did. Eris Morn became the strongest Hive of All Time. She had GodSlayers tithing to her and Savathun’s entire tithe history from the very beginning. She’s the New “Queen” Immaru now has a new leader (Vangaurd)
I seriously hope that when the next expansion hits and we meet back up with Cayde, that Eris walks right up to him, smiles, and says "You still owe me a ship."

I like how the Guardian is very quickly becoming a Doom Slayer like figure, all it took was them standing up and speaking 2 words to make a 20 foot tall moth god fold like a computer.
Literally! Especially after killing the Leviathan Eater. Still got some Hive blood on my Throne Cleaver after that fight.

Tbh, the part written in the lore card should have happened in-game as a cutscene. Like the main interesting part was kept as a text file.
Also Eris should have had that form permanently for dealing with Hive magic and sword logic. Like their should be some adverse effects of such things.

i disagree. Eris's ability to switch forms keeps her humanity.
@@Vikrampic123keeps her humanity, but means there’s zero stakes to the whole thing. By accepting a pact with Sav, there SHOULD’VE been a side effect. By not having a downside, it leave a lot less room for new stories or character development.

I kinda agree and I kinda don't. The fact that Ikora mentioned that she was happy and Eris said "here i am the woman who was once a god" opens up possibility. Lorewise we ALREADY saw what happened if Eris continued these dealings with hive and sword logic (its the Darkest timeline from Exo-Stranger). She stopped when she needed to stop, would i have liked to see it? sure. Did I already know the outcome? also yes.

Would have downplayed Eris' power at that moment in time. Eris didn't have to break a sweat.
it does leave it up for Savathun to either become a buddy or a replacement to the Witness. Knowing Savathun, I can see her trying to take both the Light and Dark for herself.
The ending was great IMO, can’t wait to see what they will do with Savathun moving forward. I hope she is in the Final Shape

It's good to see Eris Happy. She's been tortured more than anyone else.
Can't wait for this storyline to be done and over with. It's been 10 years, we need a finale.
Having a major moment like Eris killing savathun only to be followed by a lore card that many people might not read where she's immediately resurrected again, makes a deal with us and leaves. Is sort of awkward and confusing for those that don't do the extra reading
Plus we lost out on an epic moment of our guardian intimidating a god. Would have been cool to see. But I did like the finale all together because I read the cards lol

That's Bungie for you. Half-measures and half-deliveries. Admitted the season didn't really start off strong, but it actually stayed strong in the middle IMO, but that ending just took the wind out of the sails so freaking fast.
I also don't personally care for "Oh hey, we got Immaru to talk with us." and he's just automatically there. Like they can't even do a simple set-up mission to perhaps capture Immaru? Even just having us explore for a bit to track him down would have helped make the start of the season more fluid.
Eris channeled all of the power of a god, and with it banned Xivu from her own discord server.
Such a dope cutscene! I do wish we saw the second half of it but this was still a really cool development!

I STILL think that key like looking thing on the Witness's Pyramid Ship, pointing as it does to the heart of that Portal, has something to do with our unlocking the way INTO it.
I think what it is is Savathun is saying you already have it, she's talking about you, the Guardian.
You've overcome everything. You spoke to the Witness at the end of Shadowkeep. It directed you to Europa to learn Stasis. It lured you to Neptune with Calus so you learn Strand from the Veil's lingering energies. In addition to going to Neptune, you learn of Nezerac's existence and threat to Neomuna. So you go kill Nezerac and uncover the key, just as you said.
All this time across Lightfall, the Witness was luring you and preparing you for the final fight in the Pale Heart. You're key to its Final Shape. Your destiny. That is, if you let it.
We still got Mercury and I.O. left to go to it's possible that the Infiniti Forest or the Pyramidion hold more info.

@@MothOnWalladditionally, Savathun’s theft of the Veil is what directly led to us finding Strand, killing Nezarec, and revealing that key. So she did “give” it to us in a way
Great season in terms of storytelling. I can’t wait for the next season. Also has anyone else noticed there still is three radio messages we haven’t heard yet?

I kind of figured it would take something tricky like this to defeat Xivu Arath. I thought we'd still fight her 1vs1, but more as a duel and pretty much refusing to fight her army.
This way at least it sets Xivu up for us to mop her up. Eris just shut the door on her ability to conjure herself from war itself. its either keep up warfare or be eaten by the worm now. no throne world to retreat to or hide.
I would’ve liked to see what was in the lore card put into one big cutscene to end one of the best seasons we’ve had in a while. This was great though
The significance of this ending is lost when we have to read a lore card rather than seeing it for ourselves. Show, don’t tell, for it has more impact.

I’m hoping that Savathunn expected Eris to kill her, cause if not that’s a MASSIVE oversight on Sav’s end.
She is the god of cunning. She let Eris do it in order to stop her sister Xivu since she already sensed the amount of power she already gained by our tithes we did to power Eris already. If she didn't expect her to do it then she wouldnt of flown so close...let alone let the Vanguard keep her ghost

Im just glad to have Savathun back to be honest, she's such a good antagonist, and it would have been a waste for Eris to kill her permanently.
I like how our Guardian to Savathun in the Lore Card is like The more you fuck around the more your going to find out
How many people expected a fight against Xivu Arath physical form (like in the first fight vs Oryx) or even a fight vs Eris Hive mode

Probably what I think is that we're gonna unlock more of the imbaru engine and when we unlock the final one it could lead to what gets us through the portal given what one of the hidden triumphs say

Savathun Knew That Eris was the only one who's been there for every hive encounter we had.
She was the only one capable of understanding the hive inside and out.
She was the only one capable of finding a loophole in the sword logic.
That is why Savathun is surprised.
Eris found truth in a bundle of lies. And That is what also overpowered Savathun, in just that moment.
But Savathun now embraces the fact that she no longer has a worm that can kill her if she doesn't feed it.
Her only lifeline is a ghost. And she placed him in our custody. Smart move considering the fact that she still retains
alot of information, and possibly a plan to stop the witness in the end.
She also acknowledges the fact that above all things powerful, the guardian truly is the salvation of this universe.
And Savathun is wise enough to put her faith in that alone.
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend"
What happens after that common enemy is gone, is up to our enemies.
By not actually playing destiny and just watching these recaps is much more refreshing. Ahhh what a relief. I can’t play it anymore lol
Solid! Well written and impressive in terms of lasting satisfaction. The only thing is that I am glad that I watched it rather than played it. Destiny gameplay has gotten boring for me. I have many more things I'd rather be doing, work being one of them. Thanks for the consistent seasonal updates. It allowed me to enjoy the season without signing in once.

Damn I wish that lore entry was a cutscene. I love the back and forth between Eris and Savathun, those voice actresses were perfect.

When Eris kills Savathün, it made me laugh pretty hard. Savathün didn't even get to live for 2 minutes before she got killed again. I honestly didn't expect that but it was funny.😂

I’m suspicious of the fact the savathun willingly left immaru with the vanguard I think she did something to her ghost that immaru doesn’t know about so she can have the upper hand

In retrospect i find it adorable ikora was trying to act threatening while in the back of my mind i still remember sav killed her in the previous timeline.
I believe the veil is a backdoor into the traveler mainly because well 1 the Witness used our ghost to create a door and 2 Savathun said in the lore card "I already showed you" which she showed us the veil through Osiris so I believe in the Final Shape dlc we ourselves will create a doorway using our ghost as well

Fyi, this season rocked as a narrative story. The conclusion had me worry for mommy Eris, glad we didn’t lose her.

I love how the cutscene that would explain the ending (cut short) much better how we found out how to get through the portal was just a lore entry. A lore entry most people won’t see 😴

I hate how we don't find out that savathun gets resurrected again after eris kills her, until eris tells us personally, in the lore card it details how it happens immediately after the cutscene ends, almost like the cutscene we got was only the first half of something that couldve been cooler. But atleast we got savathun calling eris "honey" before getting one shotted by an ice pick.

I think what savathun means by saying "She showed us already" is that all we have to do is use the sword logic to become powerful enough to enter the portal
with them bringing up figuring out what form the way has taken and mentioning the Ahamkara this week what if we have to deal with the curse in the dreaming city and finally get the 15th wish and its the way into the portal
Damn it! Why didn't they animated savathun coming back to life again. Really wanted to see how the "deals a deal" goes in motion.
I hate that this lore of savathun being cheeky and not telling us how to follow the witness wasnt in the quest I was so mad after finishing the finale. I was like how the f**k do we follow the witness

Just to recap, the way into the pale heart was something Savathun already demonstrated to us? I get that that's supposed to be it's own mystery but the fact that that wasn't directly stated outside of the lore card really confused me.

I love this whole last mission from this season.
How eris waited hundreds of years to have her revenge. How easy she killed savathun . Everything about eris is allways great.
I still don't understand what the heck is that portal and how we'll manage go trough it (more imbaru for Savathun, I guess)
But I remember there's still something else left, something I heard in the leaks of this season that Ikora mentions, so I'll have to wait.
Something that can change forms.....Riven, we have her heart still don't we/the awoken?
I really like how eris said the hive were born as prey, because before the hive were the hive they were creatures called the krill and then they took the deal with the worms and then became hive. nice little lore inclusion bungie
