- Eris Morn has transformed herself into a Hive god of vengeance. Ever since we’ve met this character the Hive influence was quite apparent. She's guided us to takedown many leaders from Crota all the way to the Witch Queen herself. Today we take a look at the steps Eris Morn has taken to cement herself in Hive legacy while saving the city from Xivu Arath in the process. This is quite the story.

I legit though she became evil when that happened lol
So one bit of Eris lore that I find personally fascinating is the way she uses Hive magic and runes in a very different and unique way compared to the Hive themselves
In a recent bit from this season it's mentioned that Hive runes and magic is written out in columns or lines, like the edge of a blade. Even Savathuns are written in a twisting braid line, complex but still following that pattern
Eris uses circles and recursive scripts
she brings the shape of Light into the Hive's magic of Darkness
where the Sword Logic is a pyramid scheme where everything flows upright in a tributary, Eris uses a system where tithes and strength flow through and back in a cycle (and so do Lucent Hive revealed by the fact that even Thralls are finding their worms satiated by "light kickbacks" from higher up the tribute structure)

@@justicebrown1077 Eris is probably at the same level as Savathun at this point. Or at least nearing her level in hive magic. We do know Savathun can use Hive magic with Light in ways that she hasn't really shown explicitly yet. One of the best examples though, is the fact that she's the one who cracked Rhulk's pyramid. And so far, the only means to destroy pyramids we've seen is through the Traveler's terraforming light. Makes you wonder how did Savathun did it and whether Eris would learn how to do it too. Maybe, she'll use some sort of Hive magic that uses light to deal the final blow to Xivu Arath.
I love the transformation cutscene this season. The one worm looks like it’s running for its life and the other looks up in amazement or fear.
Probably amazement because in their eyes they are witnessing the birth of a god lol
i think to defeat Xivu will mean that she can bring back Toland as her brother and resurrect him as a Hive God. hes the only one left thats still "alive"
After all we've been through I don't know the difference in life and death anymore 😂
If she gets strong enough to build her own thrown world that should be doable

14:05 What I've always found cool in this cutscene of Eris creating the harvester is the fact that only the Guardian doesn't seem to be affected. I have two takes on this.
First, it's because the Guardian doesn't have a nightmare. They aren't haunted by any regret nor trauma. They face forward, doing what must be done no matter what it is. This may also be why Zavala and Crow weren't immune, they both have a really deep trauma and regret within them.
Second, it's because the Guardian just like Eris, Drifter, and Elsie at that time, had interacted with the darkness deeply already. They've mastered Stasis, which is described to be "control over others and oneself". The Guardian had fully understood how to control darkness already unlike Zavala-who refused to wield the darkness-and Crow-who had been cleansed by the light and never dared to touch the darkness. As a result, Crow and Zavala were suffering while the Guardian isn't.
side note, i hope eris stays as hive maybe permanently because dang it really adds so much more to her character, especially i want to see how would crow react as well to that since imaru said crow knows parts of the hive and well started the whole scorn situation
On the other hand, she almost becomes corrupted but with Drifters help she turns back, revealing that she's over her trauma by showing her that her human eyes have returned and doesn't need to hide them
I hope she can turn it on and off like an anime transformation 😂

Keep in mind that in Greek mythology Eris was the goddess of strife, discord, contention, rivalry, and the spirit of the strife of war (haunting the battlefield and delighting in human bloodshed).
Because of Eris' disagreeable nature she was the only goddess not to be invited to the wedding of Peleus and Thetis. When she turned up anyway and was refused admittance, she raged and threw a golden apple amongst the goddesses inscribed "To the fairest." Three laid claim to it--Hera, Aphrodite and Athena--and in their rivalry brought about the events leading up to the Trojan War.
Change her targeted audience; change the names and species of the three sisters; replace the concept of the golden apple with something different in its design but just as sinister, and the shoe so far seems to fit.
It also fits my theory… that Eris is Xivu herself… also someone who loves war and contention ;)
Nothing makes me step back more than the calm quiet brooding Eris Morn scream and just leave a feeling of "just....don't be yelling at me I like my life and would like to keep living it"
I feel we'll eventually end up fighting her, because she's turning into one of them. The reason we never fought any guardian sized people is because the scale of enemies is always bigger than us. So a transformation always clears them for deletion, like how we only killed uldren when he changed. So it's probably gonna be us taking her down once the sword logic fully turns her.
Given we are seeing all the races in destiny merge under the traveller's banner, itd be interesting to see if Eris becomes the sole hive God and thus controls the entire species towards humanity's interests. With the House of Light, alliance with Caityl, and the Hive as subjugated slaves, that would leave the vex as the last race to explore and merge with humanity's interests. And then who do we fight against then?
Its heavily implied that Savathun will be returning on our side at some point, I dont think using any race as slaves would be acceptable. Even the Hive. A life in chains is no life at all, itd be better to have the Lucent Brood as allies than to subjugate a whole race of people. IIRC, Savathuns ghost wants us to take care of Xivu Arath before Savathun is willing to help us which is why Eris Mourn needed this form. We beat Xivu, and the Lucent Brood are more or less our friends.
As for the Vex, they're unlikely to work with anyone but IF its possible then Ashur Mir will find a way. The fact that he's alive within their network has to account for something, they normally set stuff up like that for later implications. Its likely the next Saga will have us trying to defeat the Vex once and for all, or alternatively make allies out of them.
Asher turned himself into vexcaliber so I don’t think he’s gonna be doing anything other than nuking stuff in pve
@@Poseidon-1 Wrong he helped make the vex-caliber, and afterwards decided to disassemble himself to travel further into the network and learn all the vex know.

It was gonna be corruption from WQ originally I think, which is created by the hive. But they decided on strand. Lore based, it’s way less cool, but gameplay wise, I think strand is better

Oh yeah baby, the d1 missions and lore and story were superb.
I think we will see Eris fully transform into a Hive God and she may have to stay that way to ensure she can defeat Xivu Arath. Then, all that will remain of the Hive will be two factions. One of Darkness, but mastered by temperance, control, and compassion. And the other of Light, with Savathune taking on a refined Sword Logic. Maybe even a new "Logic" altogether.
We know she questioned the Sword Logic when the Gaurdian showed her evidence that the Witness had decieved her entire race. That was a profound revelation for Savathune. Especially considering that Savathune is millions of years old, renowned as the God of Lies and Deception, and this was news to her!
I think that in the end at the Final Shape, Eris will be the one to save us from the Hive. And, this may sound crazy, but I think Savathune will be the one to save the Traveler and prevent the Witness from enacting The Final Shape. With the Gaurdians help of course 😉
Savathun is no Ally of humanity but she is an ally of The Traveler. She will do what is necessary to keep it safe and so far that means helping us
So Eris goes from Guardian, to a human-hive hybrid out of necessity, then transforms herself into a Hive Pseudo-God via Hive magic and sheer force of will. I want to see more of Eris Morne’s evolution!!

this has the potential to be my favorite season so far. Eris is my favorite character and i am always down for a good vengeance story. I just hope that Bungie is able to finish this story strong. it would be such a bummer if it went nowhere important. Eris transforming i to a give god could be huge for the rest of the story

Thank goodness we get to have the revel look at xivu arath that the only time we got a look at her was during the witch queen story of savathun coming back out of hiding thank goodness.
I hope that if she does become human again, we can see her face completely, hood and mask off. Like a way of showing she doesn’t need to hide herself at all anymore because she knows she is wholly good and so should everyone else.

Eris killing Xivu means she will assume her control over the Taken. Savathûn returning will lead the Hive under new Logic without her siblings. I sincerely hope Eris commands the Taken to fight on our side in The Darkness War in Final Shape. Its a poetic full circle closure after The Taken War.
Surprised no one in the comments is talking about the possibility that Eris could be Xivu herself, tricking us this whole time. Maybe there’s some lore stuff that disproves this, or maybe it’s just everyone’s hope that the character stays good, but I feel like that would be a super cool twist especially as we spend a season powering her up.
That's not really Xivu's thing, though? That's Savathun's, and as I recall something she did in Ellie's timeline, calling herself 'The Witch Queen'.

I wonder if she will assume the mantle of the taken queen when we destroy xivu. Toland was pissed we didn’t take it, and Xivu has it now so either she will take that power, or Savathun will take that place
If we defeat Xivu, its likely we'll get Savathun as an ally, at least temporarily. That being said, no one is going to trust her with her being the god of lies and all. I think it makes sense that Eris is going to take the mantle of Taken Queen and hopefully that would allow us to get a little bit of that power

Eris is my favorite Vanguard/Dark Vanguard character in the game. She's probably my favorite character in Destiny. I don't know another NPC I enjoy more honestly.
If you think about it .... The dark future is still possible with savathun being ressurected and eris transfoming.... I'm pretty interestet how and if mara and elsie will get involved
Eris has already shown she can resist corruption with Stasis, and she knows even more about the Hive than she did that, so she most likely won't be corrupted

Man destiny the taken king scenes bring back memories
Seems like the Hive gods have some future sight. They're all well too capable of planning years into the future with extreme accuracy. Oryx knowing we'd win and led us to the TOM. Savathun planning to get the light and knowing we'd have to rez her and Xivu running circles around Mara while knowing Eris would have to do this.
So the way i see it, all the energy from our killings up until this point had no hive god to be tithed to through the sword logic so warring with xivu she can collect the unclaimed energy and fighting her makes her stronger. But now as the acolyte to our own hive god, eris gains that power instead of xivu so we can fight freely

Crow, I suspect will not be too happy about the choice Eris has made, but he will support it. The question regarding what he does about Fikrul and the Scorn, well that is another matter entirely

That crystal that came out of the oryxs sword looks like it might be the final shape perfected. Whenever the final shape is mentioned in those black and white scenes a crystal of similar shape is always there.

@@EvzAKAsweedyFenchurch is supposed to be a legendary spy-like guardian adventurer. He procures things for the eververse store and if I remember correctly is one of the hidden. The vendor at the eververse store is his niece and that’s why she always mentions him. He’s pretty much the in game explanation for how they get the cosmetic items.
Fenchurch was also involved with us during the Revision Zero quest although he didn't show up in person

The Bray sisters should be livid with /weary of Eris. Elsie has seen this path play out with Eris and Eris knew this was a option to defeat Xivu before Rasputin decommissioned itself. Eris could have used Rasputin as a tithe contributor.
Rasputin though would have been a threat to her at any point so needed him out of the way. She wants to become the leader of the sword logic/hive and there were 3 main parties in her way to achieving that, Oryx, Savathun, and Xivu. She couldn’t take on all 3 but could possibly take on 1. We got rid of oryx for her, she needs Savathun for her information and we conveniently put her in a state where that’s possible without being a direct threat, and now we’re putting her on the same level as Xivu.
Leading up to this she’s also been studying the darkness and ascendant planes to use as tools to use at her discretion (the power to take and control others). She’s also been a close confidant of Ikora as a hidden meaning she knows a lot of our deepest secrets of Guardians and the alliance.
The nightmares were just a test to see if she could wield the power she seeks and bind herself to the others. It never says Ikora bound herself to Eris/the others when dealing with her nightmares and Eris was encouraging her to turn back when dealing with it on her own (assuming it was to convince her to become part of the ritual).
If being bound to Eris has an impact on that persons ability to act against her in the future that would leave Ikora, Elsie, Ana, and possibly drifter as the only ones with the emotional charge and ability to stand against her.
Also what if the “final shape” isn’t exclusively relating to the Witness? What if this is also Eris’s final shape?
So in short:
Ex-hidden + The power to take + wielding the darkness + advanced knowledge of ascendant planes + sword logic leadership vacant + all potential opposition dealt with/about to be + the majority being unable to act against her because of being “bound” = Eris being a BIG problem

As long as eris uses her power to defeat the enemies of humanity and doesn't show and evidence of corruption i think Shin would be fine.

This just hit me. So when the darkness was communicating with us n eris it was being interfered by savathun. What if savathun was the reason we the player n eris didnt turn to the darkness. In a way savathun prevented the dark future in a way.
It's highly possible. In the Dark future, Savathun was "put in line" by Dark Eris. And lost her title to her. In our timeline, since the black garden was destroyed, the witness tried to corrupt us directly with a pyramid, but Savathun lead us to Europa instead.
I think eris sacrificed her fireteam thats why the nightmares tormented her shes been using the guardians to clear the board so she can take the throne eris is a big bad probs working with/for the witness
It was her plan since the incident but it was a part of their plans once they decided to write ✍️ it so 😂😂😂
Dang D1's atmosphere was just so much more than what we have now. I hope the next Destiny game looks and feels like D1 but improved.

I really think the story would've been so much better and more deep if the entire time the Traveler was evil and we did thing's like meet and killed God's we were never suppose to meet.The woman in the veil should've been the indication that that's the mother of the traveler and she become the darkness after the traveler stole and ran off with her power and have been spreading the power that was never suppose to be giving to the Universe in such a way. She been searching for eons for the traveler but he went dark until Ghaul made him wake up again and the darkness sensed it. The Witness should've been the General of the mother of darkness and slowly tell us were on the wrong side and have no idea what we've done. In my opinion I think this would've been WAY!.. more of a better story.
How did they die, could there ghosts not rez them? Or did the ghost get smashed
I think that they have suffered the same fate as the guardians at Savathun's Song, have their light extracted into void crystals

Savathun has been several steps ahead of us since we botched her defeat in WQ. I have a feeling that Eris Morn is nothing more than a vessel for Savathun. Regardless we'll find out later this season.

you know how the Hive Lightbearers have the same powers as us but they're evil to the core? Eris is the exact opposite, taking everything she can from our enemies and throwing it back at them and she has never wavered from this. Best ally in the whole story.
It is mostly from the dark future timeline where Eris becomes a new witch queen, which she's well on her way to doing, but in this timeline, she still has support from her friends so, while the events of the dark future is kind of playing out, it's playing out in a much different way.
The Dark Future has already been prevented, hasn't it? I think sometime in Beyond Light.

@@tarrabah5775 Not the perfect path. We've harnessed Stasis instead of being corrupted, we're actively VERY against the Witness, Eris has also resisted that corruption and knows what she's doing,. Yes there are some parallels, but invalidating the entire point of Beyond Light and not even having Elsie do anything about it would be incredibly stupid

For some probably a lot of guardian on how D1 way better than D2 are the story.
D1 story felt more decisive and effective. Especially since Crota, Oryx, and Archon prime.
That's why a lot of people loved Forsaken and Witch Queen, both have decisive and effective story.
I think Eris let us clean up her enemies so she can take over the trown..
For years I been saying how cool it would be for her to turn and have to fight her. For years we killed all kinds of baddies for her. Ofc she takes over when we clean house for her
Here's my theory she's going to wipe the hives and resurrect toland as a hive king/god and they will repopulate the new hive as allies
