An amazing straight sword is the caring knights sword. It has great scaling and ungodly range. Used it on my int playthrough and preferred it over the wing of aster. It just did more damage. Definitely needs a mention
Meteoric Ore Blade is like a mini Starscourge Greatsword-the faster hit and recovery speed is awesome and it hits super hard! That aoe pull is icing on the cake
@@colemikel8976 they are both in the meteoric weapon class and do bonus damage to Void enemies like Astel, Onyx, and Alabaster Lords. The Alabaster Lords sword has a larger and stronger AOE, but it's also a curved great sword.
The great thing about the Wing of Astel is that it is IMO the #1 best weapon to deal with enemies that just run at you. Spamming out the ash of war and backstepping or running away is an almost unbeatable strategy for roughly 90% of game content. Because of the huge AoE and massive stagger on the ash of war - not to mention the range and adaptable speed of the heavy attacks and their projectiles - you can just place death between you and your opponents and let them simply walk into it.
I do love the weapon, but I will say one negative about it: while the AOW and heavy attack are good, it should be noted that the actual regular weapon attacks (R1, R2 besides the ranged attack) are kinda bad, worse than any generic magic infused curved sword. So if you go for Astel, you're committing to spamming AOW and R2 and not doing too much else. Still a strong weapon but honestly when I use it it feels less like a weapon and more like a catalyst for the two main "spells".
Clayman's is S tier. Ice spear hits harder, faster and further one on one than Astel's wing. Up close and far it has that spear move set too; just poke from behind a shield or close distance with the running attack.
Yeah, if you can trivialise close to all of PvE with a weapon, it kinda needs to be S tier regardless of how it is in PvP, and it’s also very good in PvP.
@@BrainDeadMMA If they are, which is possible, that is wrong. But that title is clear it is supposed to be intelligence weapons, so it is more likely the person that made the list has no idea how those scale.
A couple of things to add: The MLGS has another big advantage, in that you can power-stance it with the Sword of Milos. This gives you the FP gain on kill effect, making the WA effectively free in most of PVE, and Shriek of Milos will not only buff your damage but debuff the enemy. Fire off a dark/full Moon before using the Shriek, and even magic-resistant targets are going to be very vulnerable. The Ruins Greatsword, especially now they've finally fixed the Guard Boost glitch, isn't just a good sword, it's an excellent shield. 82 Physical, every other block over 50 and 61 Guard Boost. Not only does it open up Guard Impacts, it also allows Law of Causality shenanigans, since retaliation charges build when you take chip damage. Getting knocked over by an explosion when your opponent is standing there holding half a church is a bad place to be.
literally just finished my first run of the game which i got at launch with a str/int build 421 hours btw lol i used moonveil and the meteor katana, loretta's Halberd, and troll knight sword/ rosus's axe
i'd bet i have both of you beat, i just don't pay attention to my "time played",...because 75% of it is me AFKing. id estimate i'm actually around 300 hours of play though.
Moonveils nerf for poise damage did so little the sword is still second to none in pvp. RoB users get wrecked by it since they’re stuck in their L2 animation for a bit. Easily still the best all around int wpn in the game. Darkmoon for pve by a slight bit imo.
The one thing the Bastard Stars has going for it is that it's an awesome alternate weapon for certain bosses and areas where you need strike damage when your main weapon is Wing of Astel. Another thing I do is dual wield Wing of Astel with the Serpent God Curved Sword with frost or magic damage, maybe other types depending on the enemy weaknesses. Having that heal per kill on it is great and it's worth the lower damage, though maybe not at very high levels.
I think you completely underrated the death poker it's easily my favorite intelligence weapon so versatile and you didn't even mentioned helphan's steeple which paired with the death poker pretty much makes you unstoppable
That sounds like a fun combo honestly. I’m going to go through on a str/int play through maybe giving a little focus to ghost flames/magic and that works out perfectly. Thank you :)
fighting against fast enemies? moonveil. exploring the map trying to minimize fp usage? wing of astel fighting a huge boss you wanna stagger? dark moon greatsword
i think of it similarly, but i know the moonviel has good stagger,.... its just a fp hog compared to the other 2. for me it's moonveil for enemies that spam attacks, and don't stagger easily. the wing of astel I use mainly when exploring, for the fp conservation. i just use the DMGS when something pisses me off. depending on the scenario i dual wield the wing, with a cold enchanted curved sword,/ or dual weild the moonveil and the metioric ore katana (forget the name). that metioric katan is a stagger monster.
@@tonyolo4591 yea. trying to stagger with moonveil eats up too much fp. DMGS is more cost efficient. wing of astel ranged attacks are free but low stagger.
@@hunterbowser667 that would true if i was talking about STR/int weapons, but I was only focusing on katana's,.....or more dex/int weapons. I honestly wouldn't go int for stagger anyway. If my objective was stagger i'd go STR all day. that's why DMGS shits on STR/int weapons,.......you can get ranged stagger with huge dps, FP conservation, and little skill point allocation (other than INT),......it's why i mentioned the meteoric ore blade. for the amount of str needed to wield it, the stagger, and the damage it can get up to with minimal str requirements is really good
I'm a little surprised that Lazuli Glintstone Sword didn't get ranked...it's one of the early on int-scaling weapons that is still quite useful throughout... maybe it's the lack of pazaz...but that pebble does some good staggering...granted you gotta nd pretty close. I feel it deserves at least B tier mention
Tbh as an int build thats my main sword. I know it's early game and not as good as others but it has that look that fits the battlemage and it's ash of war is decent. As a pure int build it's hits still pack a punch despite being also str scaling and me having low str, being pure int the main goal is just having a sword that has some scaling with int
Clayman’s Harpoon lets you apply buffs ontop of the innate magic damage. alibaster lord’s ash of war is a stronger gravitas onyx lord’s does the opposite of gravitas meteoric ore’s unique heavy attack
For spears naginata beats claymans in any infusion including the ones that can be buffed, and has bleed. And a better moveset when not dual wielding. As for the other 3 skill on the other 3 weapons... They are all bad. Only one of the 4 skills that work similarly to this is good an that is the one on the Zamor heavy curved sword - hyperarmor, cold damage, stagger.
@@AlexanderVRadev try out the different gravitas variations, they aren't nearly as bad as you think they are. The idea for the claymans harpoon is that despite it already having an int scaling/magic damage component, it can use weapon buffs like scholars armament which the naginata cannot do, as when it's infused it loses its ability to be buffed.
@@albinoredpanda3868 Thanks for the advice. Please don't take this as me trying to pick a fight or anything, because for some reason in the last few years people on the internet have started to take that as the default option, which is sad. I have tested every single weapon in the game myself. The spears and those 4 unique weapons with their semy-unique skills included. In fact I have tested them on at lest 3 different types of enemies trying to decide which (if any) to use. And that is the conclusion - They all suck as skills except Zamor, which is decent. The issues are few. First and worst of all they are just way too slow to activate. Against a group of enemies unless you time it perfectly you will get hit and if you are facing 2 or more fast opponents you just can't execute it and not get hit. Which is not that big of a deal if you trade damage since you can stun lock many enemies once you cast the first time. Which leads to the second issue. If you get hit the skill is canceled. They have no hyperarmor. If they did all of them would be viable. However the only one that has Hyperarmor is Zamor making it decent. Combined with the fact it builds up frost you can make a playstyle around it. The others however are way too easy to cancel. Third issue kind of complements the first 2 and it is range. They cover a lot of area, but that is a medium circle around you (except one of them which is quite fine), so you need to be fairly close to the enemy to get them inside the zone but that puts you close enough to get hit. If at least one of those 3 gets fixed I can see them being useful. For example the skill with the longer range is far more consistent although still lacking. But even then they will be stuck on sub-parr weapons in their respective classes. But most importantly will be outclassed by Waves of Darkness. In fact Waves of Darkness was better before they fixed the bug where it had no hitbox at the follow up. As for the clayman. I wanted to make it work real bad. It was just too cool not to. But at the end of the day the scaling is balanced too low per attribute, because it scales off of 3. So it gets outclassed in any infusion by the Naginata. Make the Clayman magic - Naginata has more AR and has bleed. Make the Clayman cold - Naginata has more AR and has bleed. Make the Clayman heavy or keen or keep it standard and buff it - Naginata still has more AR set in the same infusion and buffed and has bleed. I know the Clayman is cool. I wanted to find a use for it but it is just outclassed. Only reason to use Clayman over naginata would be if you are doing some mega optimized build at low level and you can't spare few points to handle the higher requirement and weight. And even then those few points you take from intelligence will give you far more damage from the weapon and the weapon art. Here are some numbers for the spears ua-cam.com/video/NaAa7cSPqW4/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Chrightt Good luck. :D
@@AlexanderVRadev I think I concur that waves of darkness is mostly better. Except onyx lord's repulsion which sort of helps getting close to enemies by knocking them away. I'm not a one weapon player though. I switch between my weapons that have waves of darkness, onyx lord's curved sword, dark moon, or whatever. In coop onyx lord's repulsion is nice because it tosses mob enemies over to your friends. They can pound all the enemies lying down after the repulsion. Waves of darkness destroys banished knights. Everything is situational too me. Zamor curved sword does fine damage, but I prefer waves of darkness for AoE. Waves of darkness stuns almost all mobs, and can be activated again while it's still going off. So doing it has a faster kill rate on large groups, especially in the late game where mobs are stronger than early game bosses. Like a fine wine the waves of darkness also pairs nicely with HP regen weapons. With it in pvp I can tank corpse piler, and get health back at the same time. I was fighting an invader who was using corpse piler, two misbegotten, and a leonine misbegotten at the same time. I shot off of waves of darkness, killed all four of them, and restored a quarter of my HP. I don't think I would have won using Zamor curved sword. We were in a tight space with the leonine misbegotten going crazy, and corpse piler spam on the side. So for me waves of darkness also outclasses Zamor ice storm by quite a large margin. But like I said, I'm not a one weapon user. If I want frost I'll use the darkmoon great sword, or ranni's darkmoon at higher levels. I'll use onyx lord's repulsion to make enemies fly all over the place if only for the entertainment value. Gravitas on the onyx lord's straight sword has a larger AoE, and higher damage so I use it to farm items from large groups of mobs.
You forgot the "Old patch" tag on the Sword of Night and Flame footage. You were buffing its damage with Royal Knight's Resolve which you can't do anymore.
As soon as you said it is outclassed and put the Bastard Stars in C then the wing of Astel at S it was made clear to me you have no clue how weapons are used in mage builds. They are used to cast skills and on a very rare occasion to hit stuff with them. Bastard Stars has far longer range, does damage in near 360 around you, has a lunge forward toward your target so you evade while you sue it instead of being a static target, I would even argue it does more damage and is harder to interrupt, but that is a consequence of the previous point. And here is the kicker - Bastard Stars is a better weapon to attack with than Wing of Astel compared to other weapons in their category, as Wing of Astel is about as rock bottom as you can get for raw damage in curved swords. If you want to sue curved swords get literally any other curved sword and infuse it as magic, or better yet - cold! Only thing Wing of Astel has that Bastard Stars doesn't is range damage on the heavy attack, but that projectile is so short range, slow to fire and low damage, that literally anything available to any int build is far superior, so that attack is useless. Unless you have no to cast FP, but if you have no FP when you get ether one of these then your whole build is bad. In anything else Bastard Stars outclasses Wing of Astel in any way possible. As for PvP.... No one cares for PvP in ER but few youtubers. It's that bad and no one plays it. The vast majority of people played the campaign and then moved on, and the ones left are just doing the same broken thing. Then we move on with straight swords....There are multiple int scaling straight swords and they all are shit compered to a magic infused broadsword for damage. And especially so to cold infused broadsword. The Broadsword just scales so well it outclass anything else unless you are only dex build that relies on the heavy attack of the hawk talon, so if you are including an int straight sword it should be the Cold infused Broadsword. St. Trina is amazing in certain situations so at least that is well done. Bravo. Although sleep is still much more effective on the Ripple Crescent Halberd and using the sleep grease, but you have to farm. The rot sword is fine for the rot buildup but having a mage prock rot by hitting with a sword again shows lack of understanding how weapons are used in caster build. It's also slow, close combat and risky, while you can just use a 0 seal with minimal investment in faith or even slot a faith talisman only for the one spell and swap it and then use Rotten breath for much better results. And then Night and Flame.... Glorified casting stick that can cast only 2 spells and needs 24 faith to use... Not good as a sword, not good as a staff... Fun yeah, but why bother when you are a caster and can do so many other things so much better than invest into this... Cold Broadsword using Ice spear in S tier, St Trina in A, everything else is not worth including. Death poker.... Overrated. Good, but overrated - B tier. But hey we are moving in the right direction at least. The skill is nice, however the second part is too slow to be consistent, so it can't save it from having the absolutely abhorrent geratsword moveset and iffy scaling. Fun to use though. ;) But you can't put it at the same tier as the Fallingstars beast jaw, which scales terribly with int and the skill scales with strength so it is not actually an intelligence weapon... Same for Starscourge Greatsword... And then you dump Loretta's War Sickle in B? The swordspear moveset is enough to push it to A. Then you have longer range and better guard boost than the swordspear and better negations so it is very good for guard counters. Still can be reviled by a cold swordspear with Ice spear ash. Seriously why are you including only unique weapons? Royal Greatsword below Wing of Astel? Nice joke - S tier. And it is your first big weapon that is intelligence based. Bravo. But then you had to tell us you forgot the Ruins Great sword... A pure strength weapon and you forgot to put it in intelligence tier list... No further comment. For real in your channel stick to fun video not information videos, you are great at the former and suck real bad at the later. The is the worst "tier list" you have done so far.
When you go and do faith weapons, I strongly suggest you give the halo scythe at minimum an "A-Tier" ranking. As soon as I got it, it carried me through the majority of my playthrough. It's ash of war has ridiculous range, and is only nerfed if there is so much as a butterfly in your way. If you got a clear shot on your enemies, they best pray that you don't target them first. It has a delay on the projectiles that makes pve enemies dodge it too early.
bro it is really fucking good, but the problem i’m running into is that all of the bosses near the end of the game have resistance to holy damage so it doesn’t do as much damage to bosses.
Yup. I got one early and used it for the entire 1st half of the game. Paired with a grave scythe. The best part was my friend absolutely struggling to get one to drop after hearing me talk about it so much and watching my videos spamming the ash to wreck bosses. Good times.
The Clayman's Harpoon dropped by the Harpoon toting zombies in Siofra River depths has decent Magic damage but only scales at D for Intelligence. However, it can be buffed by Scholars Armament, and if you put an Ash of War for a melee weapon on it, and select Standard, it becomes very versatile. Not sure how to rate this compared to your list, but it is so much fun to use with so many different Ashes of War on it. It makes a great melee weapon for a Mage build and seems to work best with Loretta's Slash.
Bastard's Stars is objectively better than Wing of Astel. Firstly, it's a flail, which makes it better than a curved sword due to its superior poise damage. In current PvP meta, each hit from flail staggers an enemy giving you more opening to cast spells. Secondly, the weapon art is way better. It goes nearly 360° and it lunges you forward. Wing of Astel makes you a stationary target and only hits a small cone in front of you. Really the only time you'd use Wing over Stars is if you are running Int/Dex hybrid build, but in that case, you are using Moonveil.
Cold infused Nagakiba with hoar frost stomp is pretty op with intelligence and dex scaling. Dex B, int C but unlike the moon veil it does cold/frost damage @105 p/h and bleed at 38. More physical damage, less magic damage but the cold infusion + hoar frost stomp giving fp cost at 10, 70 cold on the initial hit and 110 for each crystal burst stepped on. Frost gives you slower moving enemies and 20% more damage taken. Hoar frost stomp is the best cold ash of war by a long shot. Powerstancing with a blood Nagakiba bloodhound step is mad. Intelligence, dexterity and arcane damage with two swords.
Hephens Steeple? Man I fell in love with dual wielding the steeple and moon sword .One jump attack is all it takes to frostbite the enemy. And the ash of war is pretty fast. Not only that the swing actual does damage .
As my favorite channel for all things ER and yer song at the end of the vid is now pinned to my brain on repeat.. I have to concur with a few others, I think the Meteoric Ore Blade deserves a spot on this list. Katana moveset, very respectable damage, the AoW, Gravitas, has a LOT of poise when using it, and it stops a lot of BS enemy attacks or cheap shots from enemies hiding under ledges or around corners, since it stuns somehwhat vertically and - through walls - . Happy to give this katana the +10
No mention of the Meteoric Ore Blade. Sure it's no Moonveil. But it has a decent ash of war for dealing with weak mobs and flying enemies, as well as a charged R2 deals a lot of poise damage. It's a solid B weapon at least.
Definitely realized you put the sword of night and flame in this video, I commented on your faith weapon video wondering where the sword was and this explains it xD my bad!
I'd really like to see a video like this except breaking down some of the powerful non unique weapons. Things like putting ice spear on claymans harpoon. Or like your vid the other day with waves of darkness ashes on the greatstar. Those have been just as powerful if not more, than many of the unique weapons. and it's a matter of time before people find uniques. Seeing a list of powerful basic weapons would probably be helpful for many new players such as myself that still have a basic understanding of ashes of war and affinity scaling.
Try those 2 channels for that: ua-cam.com/users/Chrightt ua-cam.com/channels/RoGgq_xy650Iu4uQy72OLA.html Especially the second one for data. Rage Gaming have a lot of fun videos but when it comes to objective data they are just so inaccurate. Half the weapons mentioned here are ether not intelligence based at all or are outclassed by a regular weapon in any case. :(
I usually use double cold scavenger curved swords after trying most of the weapons, but there's a whole host of great regular weapons like the banished knight halberd or godskin stitcher, for sombers I think the deaths poker is the best weapon in the category, can 1 shot pretty easily in pvp to actually be useful, and does insane damage for minimal fp for any mage with the stats to switch to it, the versatility and ease to switch to is pretty nuts, worse than moonveil in pvp but better than it because of sheer damage in pve.
Yeah but why would they include actually good options from regular weapons, when they can dump only unique weapons that are not even intelligence based, in intelligence tier list /s ;D
One of the best melee Int weapon is not on the list -- Clayman's Harpoon. It can be set to magic spec and buffed by magic to blow up it's magic damage to ridiculous levels and takes any ash of war. Can also go cold spec, take the cold enchantment and run Hoarfrost Stomp.
Agree. I had that drop recently and I just spammed the upgrades to max just out of curiosity as I had a bunch of smithing stones (which is good as an int build as it doesn't soak up your precious sombers) I stuck the glintstone pebble ash on it as I'd already gotten used to the lazulite sword moveset and it ended up being an even more powerful addition. The range is good, has a chargeable R2 and the ash/lunge combo staggers in 2 or 3 hits even on large enemies and bosses. Only thing is it seems to poke downwards slightly with light attacks that reduces the range. Either way I find it really fun and looks good on an int build imo.
Yeah that should have at least gotten an honorable mention for sheer versatility. its the only weapon in the game that can use ashes that naturally scales with INT and it became one of my absolute faves for my mage run. I threw ice spear onto it and so it gets a ranged spell and and up close stun and it carried me so well. Really wrecked a lot of bosses (including Malenia) with it, and not in a cheese stunlock way but in that it kept me a safe distance, got them on approach and created openings.
@@robbybevard8034 might try that ash next then, I've used the glintstone pebble for over half my playtime and it's getting a little rinse and repeat. Effective but I feel like I've gotten into an easy mode strat rut.
@@ryancooper3863 A fun weapon to try out is the Sacrificial Axe. It restores 4FP on kills and can take an Ash of War. I used the Ancestral Spirit's Horn to gain a further 3FP on kills. It made Glintstone Pebble free on one shots. I put Hoarfrost on it as well and wielded Adula's Moonblade in my left for a fun run as a frost mage. Once Pebble stops OHKO'ing it's time to switch over to Night Comet and dual wielding wands because casting with Lusat / Carian Regal while holding the Staff of Loss == major damage.
@@cdchai Thanks. I'll check out the axe, I'm sure I have one in my collection somewhere. I've been off handing staffs for the majority of my run, which is also becoming a little stagnant but is bringing a lot of success. I dabbled in OH carian glintstone staff/regal with slicer, piercer for a while which was fun. Ultimately though, like you said, OH Loss, Lusats, night comet and the Godfrey charge talisman has got me through so much of the end game.
Bastards Stars is so underrated. It's just a different weapon than the WoA. It does more damage, the nebula is stronger, way bigger and it's also perfect to kill the annoying imps waiting for you behind a wall. Bastards stars has a very big raw strike range that can even clip through walls, which is a big benefit for me personally.
No let mfs keep hating on the bastard stars, I've killed so many damn pvpers with the weapon art, then switching to moonveil while nebula is exploding. Dead, every time
The hammer you get in the capital in the round table hold where the blacksmith usually sits. That hammer has S scaling on Int. Found this out when you guys made a video about magical spinning wepon buffed with magic
There is the crystal spear with scarlet rot buildup. Also the sword from the melee sorcerers at Caria Manor is good for early game. Super fast and has pebble as aow.
Really looking forward to the faith list - been through the game multiple times trying different builds and I think faith has always been my favourite to use, followed closely but int (sorry for being a degenerate moonveiler, I have stopped now 😇)
there is to a cheap spears from cristal cave, It does'nt look prety or very powerful.. but, it scales on int AND it can buff with magic or something else AND/OR use a ash of war with some good moves, then Int spear buffed with a ash of war it make a cheap early weapon very effective. sorry for my english. it's not my language.
When you do faith weapons please check out the tree spear it’s buff is wired and adds damage to any weapon or spell while active and they can stack with eachother
I found what's one of the best weapons is twinblades with frost affinity - now I am using carian phalanx ash of war it have insane stagger and as glinstone pebble it has secondary heavy attack combined with gravitas ash of war. So you get insane amount of stagger/cleave aoe/and defensive flying magic swords(have the highest stagger/damage from all phalanx spells and have lowest fp.cost)
Yeah but why would they include actually good options from regular weapons, when they can dump only unique weapons that are not even intelligence based, in intelligence tier list /s ;D
I cheesed my way through my first play through with Fallingstar.. it was the only weapon where I could just stand in place and obliterate everything that came my way. Not one single boss stood a chance. I don’t use it anymore because I want to actually have fun and challenge myself. But even now, if a boss is giving me a hard time with one of my random builds.. I’ll just go back and pull out the Fallingstar
If Royal greatsword did ice damage with it’s regular attacks, it would definitely be S-tier. I’m hitting for over 3000 damage with ash of war before buffs and debuffs applied. It’s a boss killer for sure.
I'm currently using the Alabaster Lord's sword and the Helphen's Steeple combined, and they deal a lot of damage, sometimes I replace the Alabaster Lord's sword with the darkmoon greatsword too
I've been doing a ton of pvp lately and I play at a high lvl 350 which pits me against maxed out people ill say if I hit with both hits of royal which is almost always the case against a jump attack it completely nukes hp
the Fallingstar Beast Jaw is a must level to +10 weapon this can help a lot for the final boss or other bosses. the ash of war Gravity Bolt not sure why it is not on other weapons or a sorcery
I like the placement of Night and Flame. But. Have you dual wielded these bad girls? Their AR is pretty high for a straight sword-coupled with the straight sword dual move set. Yes.
Can't argue with these rating at all. I run an 80 Int / 70 Dex build and I run Moonveil primary, Wings of Astel secondardy and Fallingstar Beast Jaw for boss abuse. I tend to avoid and colossal swords (too slow), but the Royal Greatsword is a bit of fun especially with the blocking ability. I tend to avoid great swords as well, but when I mess around with them it's always the Blasphemous Blade for me. The weapon art is better in effect an in the ability to aim manually or via lock on, where the Dark Moon Greatsword is garbage (although I think they might have improved this in a recent update?).
I get that you're just doing unique weapons, but the combination of a Cold Scavenger's Great Sword (C/C/B with both bleed and frostbite buildup) in the left hand and Wing of Astel in the right hand is really incredible powerstanced, and the combined weight of both is actually still slightly lighter than the Moonveil. You can also easily get both in a single playthrough.
Please explain what you mean cause if you're talking an int set up for the greatsword colossal weapon than I need to hear it. I love that weapon but have not been able to get it to do more damage than the dark Moon on my intelligence build.
@@THE_MOONMAN crouch poke, colossal swords are currently top tier because the crouch poke is way too fast to be balanced and staggers basically everything at the speed of a smaller weapon.
I still really wish Starscourge Greatswords had a single and power stance moves instead of the block… it’s actually kinda cool to block something one handed with the swords but like was said it really limits the move set and removes the couch poke when two handing.
I believe that death poker should be competing with blaidd's sword for the top A ranking. It is not only good in pvp, it has absurd damage in pve against not mobile bosses with this white fire line. Whenever there is a dps check death poker is my first choice. In addition to that compared to the rest of the A tier weapons it has the most potential for the pure int build, as it has a separate scaling for the moveset itself and the WA (white fire has better int scaling than dex and str). The sword of night and flame forces you to waste points in faith which is not good for 125 or 150 lvl builds and it has no use in pvp. Gravity weapons almost don't scale with intelligence. They are just str or quality weapons that force you to add a little bit of int to use weapon arts. Fallingstar beastjaw is my personal misery, for it has almost no benefit from intelligence or magic damage boosts compared to damage increase from str and dex (checked it myself with calculations). In addition to that those weapon arts do split damage which make magic damage not worth the investment. Basically, as I said amongst all of A-tier weapons death poker is the best option for a pure int build. Due to it's being good in one hand it synergises good with staves. And why the hell hybrid build weapons are top tier in intelligence centered video? Aren't people watching these video expect to see good weapons for high-int builds? Shouldn't int have a better scaling than other offensive attributes?
This hasn’t happened to me once and it’s been my main weapon since first playtrough. I have close to 500 hours. Maybe you mean elevation issues which were patched.
What the criteria for weapons being on the this list? Seems to missing a few intelligence weapons like Carian Knight sword and Claymans Harpoon off the top of my head that I use. Edit: never mind just saw the best "13" not all intelligence weapons. My bad
They included 3 pure strength weapons and no regular weapons. The criteria is non existent. And the 2 weapons you point out are always outclassed by broadsword and naginata respectively. For actally data driven and informative videos try those channels: ua-cam.com/users/Chrightt ua-cam.com/channels/RoGgq_xy650Iu4uQy72OLA.html The second one in particular.
I definitely feel A LOT LESS dirty using Moonveil katana vs using the Rivers of Blood katana. I accidently ruined my fight with Malenia by destroying her with RoB & Mimic Tear lol, I felt so guilty and wrong afterwards xD
Bastard stars should have a special heavy attack. Currently all the flails have the same heavy attack which is absolutely useless. The wind up takes forever while it's not as good as a jumping heavy attack. I beat the whole game power stancing flails, which does amazing poise damage with jumping attacks. Tbh the power stanced moveset is garbage with the exception being the jumping attack.
I wouldn't class ruins greatsword as an int weapon. It's a strength based weapon. Even the ash of war scales better with strength. If you put a lot of points into intelligence it doesn't really effect the damage output much.
Uchikatana with Carian Grandeur beats Moonveil. Even uncharged the AOW does more damage than Moonveil's, and, unlike Transient Moonlight, Carian Grandeur can be charged twice.
Personally MV-DM-WINGY BOIS. Although i had MV first and used it the most, might be biast... Def biast. Giving wings a try over MV currently. Literally just upgraded before i saw this vid
Its the onyx lord sword in katana form probably made with the same ore
Where do I find it?
its one of my favoirite weapons
@@sidneyshaw9205 Caelid, it's in some ruins filled with Pests if I recall correctly
Even for doing that, Stars are better due to superior AoE
Claymen's Harpoon buffed with scholar's armament is pretty sweet and you can change the ash of war too. Good int weapon you can get early imo.
Yeah you can get high damage with the harpoon
Good one
on my 2nd i used this paired with ice spear/loretta slash and it was so good i used it from godrick to elden beast
Clayman's is S tier. Ice spear hits harder, faster and further one on one than Astel's wing. Up close and far it has that spear move set too; just poke from behind a shield or close distance with the running attack.
Fallingstar beast jaw is S tier. You can stun-lock BOSSES all day long. No other weapon can do that as well as FBJ.
Yeah, if you can trivialise close to all of PvE with a weapon, it kinda needs to be S tier regardless of how it is in PvP, and it’s also very good in PvP.
Agreed... except it is strength based not intelligence but hey so are the Starscorge and Ruins Greatsword so nice intelligence tier list... ;D
@@AlexanderVRadev I’m pretty sure they’re classing all weapons which deal magic damage as intelligence, not which stat has the highest scaling.
@@BrainDeadMMA If they are, which is possible, that is wrong. But that title is clear it is supposed to be intelligence weapons, so it is more likely the person that made the list has no idea how those scale.
He did that because I believe he factored in fun aspect in this tier list. And I agree with him, it’s boring.
Getting knocked over by an explosion when your opponent is standing there holding half a church is a bad place to be.
literally just finished my first run of the game which i got at launch with a str/int build
421 hours btw lol
i used moonveil and the meteor katana, loretta's Halberd, and troll knight sword/ rosus's axe
Oh god 421hrs you do alot of pvp?
lol 821 hrs here ist me DANK 😉 bleed and frost great swords yes lots of pvp
i'd bet i have both of you beat, i just don't pay attention to my "time played",...because 75% of it is me AFKing. id estimate i'm actually around 300 hours of play though.
Moonveils nerf for poise damage did so little the sword is still second to none in pvp. RoB users get wrecked by it since they’re stuck in their L2 animation for a bit. Easily still the best all around int wpn in the game. Darkmoon for pve by a slight bit imo.
I disagree. The Moonviel was insanely ridiculous before they nerfed the poise damage. Now it's just very, very good LOL
Exactly ^
Thank you :)
fighting against fast enemies? moonveil.
exploring the map trying to minimize fp usage? wing of astel
fighting a huge boss you wanna stagger? dark moon greatsword
Moonveil has surprisingly high stagger and poise break when using the heavy attack of the AoW
i think of it similarly, but i know the moonviel has good stagger,.... its just a fp hog compared to the other 2.
for me it's moonveil for enemies that spam attacks, and don't stagger easily.
the wing of astel I use mainly when exploring, for the fp conservation.
i just use the DMGS when something pisses me off.
depending on the scenario i dual wield the wing, with a cold enchanted curved sword,/ or dual weild the moonveil and the metioric ore katana (forget the name).
that metioric katan is a stagger monster.
@@tonyolo4591 yea. trying to stagger with moonveil eats up too much fp. DMGS is more cost efficient. wing of astel ranged attacks are free but low stagger.
The best stagger int weapon is fallingstar.
@@hunterbowser667
that would true if i was talking about STR/int weapons, but I was only focusing on katana's,.....or more dex/int weapons.
@@stanf1253 it looks super cool in it's simplicity too!
For some reason I just love when you say: Ive benn Hollow you've been you. (Don't ask why)
Clayman’s Harpoon lets you apply buffs ontop of the innate magic damage.
alibaster lord’s ash of war is a stronger gravitas
onyx lord’s does the opposite of gravitas
meteoric ore’s unique heavy attack
Still weak as shit.
Here are some numbers for the spears ua-cam.com/video/NaAa7cSPqW4/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Chrightt
Good luck.
One of the Deathbirds drops a spear that has a good Ash of War. Good to troll invaders with a follow up of stars of ruin.
You forgot the "Old patch" tag on the Sword of Night and Flame footage. You were buffing its damage with Royal Knight's Resolve which you can't do anymore.
Ruins Greatsword is S-tier. That sword wrecks all!
The flail benefit is blunt strike damage and they can't be parried.
Death Ritual Spear is worth a mention on this list.
I’m glad you placed the DMGS where you did, it definitely belongs there and it’s possible to get it pretty much at the start of the game.

Especially the second one for data.
I completely agree with the ordering of the S-tier weapons.
got one to add, the glintstone kris, its ash of war is amazing and people never get the follow up strike range correct

@Zinc Deficiency ok?
No let mfs keep hating on the bastard stars, I've killed so many damn pvpers with the weapon art, then switching to moonveil while nebula is exploding. Dead, every time
You timed this for the start of my int run I love you 😂

a sword i think u should look at is the helphens steeple sword just got it and think it is a great sword
There is the crystal spear with scarlet rot buildup. Also the sword from the melee sorcerers at Caria Manor is good for early game. Super fast and has pebble as aow.
Really looking forward to the faith list - been through the game multiple times trying different builds and I think faith has always been my favourite to use, followed closely but int (sorry for being a degenerate moonveiler, I have stopped now 😇)
You forgot the hangman harpoon, the only int weapon that can be buffed by scholar arsenal
Royal Greatsword's AR potential is insane
there is to a cheap spears from cristal cave, It does'nt look prety or very powerful.. but, it scales on int AND it can buff with magic or something else AND/OR use a ash of war with some good moves, then Int spear buffed with a ash of war it make a cheap early weapon very effective.
sorry for my english. it's not my language.
I’m glad to see my boy blaidds weapon so high in the list. Also does anyone else think Lorettas War sickle kindof looks like an insect glaive?
When you do faith weapons please check out the tree spear it’s buff is wired and adds damage to any weapon or spell while active and they can stack with eachother
Dat moon greatsword is just too good to not be used
I found what's one of the best weapons is twinblades with frost affinity - now I am using carian phalanx ash of war it have insane stagger and as glinstone pebble it has secondary heavy attack combined with gravitas ash of war.
I agree with u about S tier also about best moonlight sword in series in bloodborne
If they made Loretta's Halbert also ack ask a staff for cast while duel 2 handing that would be sooooooo sick
Imo Sword of Night and Flame is the best looking weapon in the game it just looks soo clean
I dual wielded night and flame and sword of st trina for a while, was really fun! Recommend :)
Can the moonlight greatsword be a good choice for a dex/int samurai?
I personally like the moonlight for verdict day, it was a cool sword
War sickle is my favorite weapon to use. The range and moveset makes it amazing
Yeah the tier list is iffy. Half of those are not even int based. And the War Sickle is insane when you use it to guard counter. :)
If Royal greatsword did ice damage with it’s regular attacks, it would definitely be S-tier. I’m hitting for over 3000 damage with ash of war before buffs and debuffs applied. It’s a boss killer for sure.
i am curious about faith version of this video, starting ng+ as a full faith user and im considering some variety options
Yes.
With the knt str weapons i wonder. Is there a point to leve int? Does tbe ash benfit?
Thx for the work
Can't argue with these rating at all.
Do you mean scavenger curved sword?
Please explain what you mean cause if you're talking an int set up for the greatsword colossal weapon than I need to hear it. I love that weapon but have not been able to get it to do more damage than the dark Moon on my intelligence build.
@@mrgibbles09 Yes, curved.
@@THE_MOONMAN I meant curved like the Wing of Astel.
@@THE_MOONMAN crouch poke, colossal swords are currently top tier because the crouch poke is way too fast to be balanced and staggers basically everything at the speed of a smaller weapon.
The falling star beast jaw is easily the best weapon in my opinion
Just in time I made a int character yesterday
I still really wish Starscourge Greatswords had a single and power stance moves instead of the block… it’s actually kinda cool to block something one handed with the swords but like was said it really limits the move set and removes the couch poke when two handing.
Moonveil with Shard of Alexander, Magic Scorpion Charm, & Rodiger Set > for pvp
Are all of these best on a min/max pure int build, or are some (like the jaw) better on hybrid strength/int?
Even after the latest patch, I see beams from the Darkmoon pass through enemies without dealing damage about 20% of the time.
This hasn’t happened to me once and it’s been my main weapon since first playtrough. I have close to 500 hours.
Maybe you mean elevation issues which were patched.
i wonder how many samurais went int soon as they got the moonveil.
What about the glinstone kris?? That dagger is destruction
Can you do a faith weapon tier list but have them compare to each other with same damage types. Ex. Fire with fire, holy with holy etc.
For actally data driven and informative videos try those channels:

The second one in particular.
I may agree with this list in general, but still have to say - damn is St. Trina's sword fun. Just based on that it would be an S tier for me x)
Is the Onyx Lord's Greatsword any good?
I think Loretta's is probably the best looking weapon in the game and the ash of war also looks amazing. I just wish it was better.
Does the axe talisman buff the wing of astel?
How were you duel wielding Astel wings
Sword of St Trina could be amazing with a 140 or 150 Crit rate.
I definitely feel A LOT LESS dirty using Moonveil katana vs using the Rivers of Blood katana. I accidently ruined my fight with Malenia by destroying her with RoB & Mimic Tear lol, I felt so guilty and wrong afterwards xD
same
Bastard stars should have a special heavy attack.
Carion knight sword or the Lazuli sword. Those are some good ones you forgot.
Can you make top 10 weapons for lvl 1 run ?
I really like the moonveil katana and the dark moon great sword which is better for all around pve play?
Whichever you prefer! I like fast weapons, so I'm Moonveil all the way. It's purely a matter of taste though.
what is power stance? just dual wield?
I just defeated my first great tune boss, Radahn. So excited
You.. you fought Radahn first???
@@benzohhhhh Yep Then i went back and destroyed godrick lol
Number one would be Carian Regal Scepter and its Magic Spin.
I wouldn't class ruins greatsword as an int weapon. It's a strength based weapon. Even the ash of war scales better with strength. If you put a lot of points into intelligence it doesn't really effect the damage output much.
Uchikatana with Carian Grandeur beats Moonveil. Even uncharged the AOW does more damage than Moonveil's, and, unlike Transient Moonlight, Carian Grandeur can be charged twice.
the falling star beast jaw carried me to ng 11
Flails need buffs across the board! I really hope From Software gives us a big Flail buff at some point...
I'm a simple guy, I see flaming swords or swords made of light or blue flames and i click
Personally MV-DM-WINGY BOIS. Although i had MV first and used it the most, might be biast... Def biast. Giving wings a try over MV currently. Literally just upgraded before i saw this vid
Wings are the GOAT 🙌🏻
