Great choice Don, that's a really terrific song. You're absolutely right about Warren's songwriting - don't think I've heard a bad one. On retirement - you should differentiate between "going to work" and "living". As one who has arrived at this exciting time, I can honestly say I don't miss going to the office everyday - even though I really loved doing that at the time. But I sure haven't "rolled over getting ready to die". In fact I've never been as busy as I am now and I'm doing helpful and productive things. Also on another thread - The Calgary Stampede broke their attendance records this year - 1.477 million visitors. Special thanks to Miranda for her help in achieving that! And thanks Don for the super reaction!

Good sounding tune. I liked it and definitely sounded traditional Country. Warren Zevon is mainly a song writer. I'm gonna mention a name that I'm not sure you have reacted to anything of before. Deborah Allen has literally written hundreds of songs and many hits for other people. A tremendous song writer, phenomenal voice, her range is staggering. Very gorgeous woman back in the day. Had some radio success as an artist, but not a whole lot. I was listening to an old song of her's from her 1993 album "Delta Dream Land" that I had not heard in a long time. I bought the CD when it came out, I think it was her first new album since like 1987-88? Anyway, there is a song on there that i always felt would have been a colossal hit and should have been the first single off that album. It's called "Two Shades Of Blue". This song and Deborah's vocals will simply mystify you. Several years later, Suzy Bogguss recorded the same song. I don't think it was ever a single for her either. At least not that I'm aware off. Now Suzy is a great singer, but I just prefer Deborah Allen's inflections on this song. She wrote it with husband Rayfe Van Hoye, so Deborah knew best as to what it was supposed to sound like. Man, if you could get to that recording it would be awesome. I was surprised to find it last night on UA-cam. I think yoi will be bowled over by "Two Shades of Blue" it is that good. Sticking with the Blue theme, Radney Foster had a song called "Louisiana Blue" and Lari White a song called "Something Blue" Both of these are terrific. Don't know if you have reacted to Radney before or not? Another prolific, song writer, wrote several songs with Holly Dunn. Those glasses of Warren's immediately reminded me of Radney Foster for some reason.
