Never heard Trunk’s Ocean Dub voice until today
there are some pretty good names in the AB Group part of the Ocean Dub... This is Alistair Abell as Trunks, people prefer Eric Vale but I think Alistair gets that level of mature puberty out in the character, also Alistair didn't have to worry about being keeled over by some out of context sounding dialogue. Also in this arc and later the Buu Arc you get Dale Wilson's Cell (sounding very reminiscent of the great William Shatner in the perfect form), Maggie O'Hara's Bulma (reprising her role long after "Curse of the Blood Rubies"), Brad Swaile's Teen Gohan, Cathy Weseluck's kid Trunks, Moncea Stori's Videl, a very young Andrew Francis as Dende, Kelly Sheridan's Erasa, Scott McNeil's Buu (sounding almost like Elmo auditioning for Pennywise), and the now late great legendary Kirby Morrow's Goku.

Vegetas ocean dub voice is perfect and the one I remember hearing as a kid but I don’t know about trunks lol. He was close to sounding like goku

I had only watched Dragon Ball Super in Japanese, and then someone who reviewed the Funimation dub said that Brian Drummond voiced the copy Vegeta, so I had to check it out and it was cool seeing him voicing copy Vegeta alongside Chris Sabat and Sean Schemmel.
Honestly I'm an ocean dub guy, but Brian Drummond definitely lost his touch over the years. Pre-frieza Ocean Vegeta is the best for sure, but it's like he left the role for a few years, came back, and couldn't remember how to be Vegeta.
Trunks is such a brooding psychopath in this dub, it's bizarrely hilarious.

I've got a soft spot for the Ocean Dub.
I grew up with ocean dub but that trunks voice is hard on the ears

This is the first time I've heard Ocean Dub's Trunks and while it's my least favorite voice in this dub, Alistair Abell does a great job as Trunks

I honestly think Vegeta wouldn't have had a problem training with Gohan. Trunk's unwillingness to take risk really gets under Vegeta's skin.

The second time, during the Cell games, was entirely due to his inability to stand up to his father. He could have killed 18 or finished off imperfect Cell early on. He dug his own grave.

I grew up with this dub till Goku arrived on namak and Bruce dub got introduced. I love Bruce/funimation dub but I wouldn't have minded watching the whole series with ocean dub.

We seemed to rotate between this and Gokus proper voice on Cartoon Network in England.

I actually like how Trunks sounds in the Ocean Dub. Okay people can disagree but his voice is not that bad.
People prefer whatever they were exposed to first. If you grew-up with Ocean Dub, you prefer Ocean Dub. If you grew-up with Funimation Dub (like I did) then you prefer that.

Saiyan saga up to Where Goku fights the ginyu force (Ocean Dub)
Goku fighting the ginyu force up when Future trunks meets Goku (Funi Dub)
Future trunks meets goku up to the End of the series (Ocean Dub)
The crazy thing about this I didn't know they switched the dubs around as a kid, I was easily fooled back then.

Maybe Kami or Popo made a rule about it, but because of the dire circumstances of the Buu arc and Kami being gone by that point, Popo let up the rules for its usage.

I think that was to do with the food supply and what not, when Piccolo went in, I think he already thought of his plan B to destroy the door incase things didnt work out

Yeah, after the initial 53 episodes of the ocean dub you can tell the quality went downhill, once it was picked back up at episode 108.

Why do the post-53rd episodes of the Ocean Dub episodes have static?
They never released them on DVD. Post 53 all come from VHS recordings from the UK where the Post 53 ocean dub aired.

There is no ocean dub for the Frieza saga, so you can't find the whole series. I do remember hearing that the ocean cast did record a version of DBZ Kai but I have never found it.
Doesn't exist. The only worthwhile episodes are the original 53 episode run with the Shuki Levy score. Plus the 3 film dubs they did.
That 2nd run starting with episode 108 isn't even worth it. Recycled music, and once Peter Kelamis left the voice cast as Goku, it was dead.

These voices along with the acting are painfully awful. Ocean dub was great until after the Namek saga then it turned to complete garbage.
It's not their fault I keep explaining to people they kept changing directors they only had 1 YEAR to dub their version unlike Funimation who had 3 YEARS it's not ocean's fault they started to suck/sound half-assed and bringing Kirby Morrow to voice Goku later on was a huge mistake. I wish Peter had stayed on to dub the rest of the ocean version. I liked Kirby as Miroku from Inuyasha but he didn't fit Goku.

Pretty much all dubs were bad in the 90s and early 2000s. I never really cared much for ocean dub, outside of Scott McNeil as Piccolo and Brian Drummond as Vegeta. The rest of them I always felt the voices were all wrong especially Goku, in the ocean dub whether it's Peter Kelamis, Kirby Marrow, or Ian I can't remember his last name, they all portrayed Goku as seeming too smart.

This is the Ocean Dub at it's worst. The voice direction isn't like how it was for the first 53 episodes. I wouldn’t judge the whole dub using the later half. Their peak performances are during the 3 uncut movies

Yes, it is. There are some things that have happened over time. Lol. It is Ocean Dub. Ocean Dub is actually the original. I will never forget that Vegeta voice. FUNimation picked it up during the Ginyu Saga. I had no idea the this “Ocean” Dub was continuing the series somewhere else. It definitely wasn’t in the States.
