You make a very cool point. If you go back and reread/watch dragonball, when Goku and Krillin make their debut in the world martial arts tournament, it's actually Goku who first notices that he and Krillin have gotten too strong for ordinary people. Goku was only 10 or 11, and thus he's lived out pretty much his whole life being aware that he lives in a world too weak to handle his strength. Makes sense that he's learned to take it easy.
It comes with training with Kami, Kami taught Goku in a way from the beginning to replace him as God while he wasn't aware (though he still rejected the offer anyway). With it, came with so much precision, mostly to teach Goku not only about fighting, but also about being gentle to beings and nature of the planet.
My understanding is when characters have greater control of the Ki they can reduce and increase their power to a greater degree. So Goku's power may be higher and he has great Ki control so he can suppress it easier. In theory increasing endurance and making detection much harder. This also doesn't mean that Vegeta lacks the same level of Ki control, he just doesn't give a crap. Also the same reason in the Cell Saga that Goku and Gohan staying Super Saiyan was valuable. They could control their Ki and didn't need to waste energy on the transformation process. Granted this is all from my memory from watching the show in the late 90s, so take it with a grain of salt.

Remember, they still have to score high enough to place/qualify. So they have to throw a punch that's stronger than almost everyone else's, but not so strong that they seem superhuman. Given that none of the z fighters have fought anyone with "normal" human power levels in years, it's easy to see how they might have difficulty with this. The only one in this group that physically interacts with a strong-for-a-human person is Goku (because he is married to Chi-Chi).
When you practice some enough it becomes second nature and almost impossible to control as you aren't even aware you're doing so, much like breathing punching is also not thought about how fast or hard but just think of where do I want to punch and do so. Unless you practice to punch slow and light it won't happen on the first try.

One thing I did enjoy about the Ocean dub was the sound effects used for punches. You could damn near feel the impact of em when you heard em. Actually, sound effects in general were really good in the Ocean dub

I live in South Africa and finding the series' was pretty difficult, it took months and a stupid amount of money to track down all the blue DragonBall bricks, the orange Z bricks, and the green GT bricks, but my parents knew how important it was to me. I also pre ordered the Rock the Dragon collector's edition of Z that included the first 53 episodes of the Ocean dub and the first few movies. I still remember the rush to get all my chores done in time so I could sit in front of the tv so I could record everything on VHS. Those were the days...

@Andy Gashi It's called evolution and keeping things interesting. Every anime has their own share of transformations but I think Toriyama milked the cow too much and had to bring in the big guns. The question u should be asking is, do these new transformations suck..?? And the answer to that should be obvious. Gogeta, Vegetto and Gotenks are all pretty dope with Gotenks as my least favourite (they can't get it ALL right lol) And don't even get me started on Jiren and especially Ultra instinct. All I'm saying is, Toriyama was under major pressure because everyone watching were all waiting for something amazing to happen, which he made sure did. @@dbk8152 They could have gently pressed a closed fist against it in quick but extremely short motion. But maybe they wanted to scare all of the "normal" fighters out so they wouldn't have to perform boring fights.
Remember, they still have to score high enough to place/qualify. So they have to throw a punch that's stronger than almost everyone else's, but not so strong that they seem superhuman. Given that none of the z fighters have fought anyone with "normal" human power levels in years, it's easy to see how they might have difficulty with this. The only one in this group that physically interacts with a strong-for-a-human person is Goku (because he is married to Chi-Chi).
I mean, didn’t Gohan bring Videl with him for this. Also, hasn’t Goku been dead for a while and been at King Kai’s or something?
When you practice some enough it becomes second nature and almost impossible to control as you aren't even aware you're doing so, much like breathing punching is also not thought about how fast or hard but just think of where do I want to punch and do so. Unless you practice to punch slow and light it won't happen on the first try.

One thing I did enjoy about the Ocean dub was the sound effects used for punches. You could damn near feel the impact of em when you heard em. Actually, sound effects in general were really good in the Ocean dub

I honestly had no idea Ocean Dub had gotten this far into the series. I thought they stopped right around the Frieza Saga somewhere and that the Re-Dubbed version came in at that point.

I live in South Africa and finding the series' was pretty difficult, it took months and a stupid amount of money to track down all the blue DragonBall bricks, the orange Z bricks, and the green GT bricks, but my parents knew how important it was to me. I also pre ordered the Rock the Dragon collector's edition of Z that included the first 53 episodes of the Ocean dub and the first few movies. I still remember the rush to get all my chores done in time so I could sit in front of the tv so I could record everything on VHS. Those were the days...
