  • Hey guys,
Maria here with yet another video. This video is pretty informative and it delves deep into the breed of parrot, which is the Severe macaw. I go over the background info and some facts that are accurate for every Severe macaw and then I delve into the typical traits associated with this breed and the care necessary for these birds. I will compare all of that with my own experience owning Cora.
I hope you guys enjoy this video and thanks for watching and all the support! I put out new videos every Tuesday and Friday!

I just got my first rescue Severe. She is bare except her wings. She starting to show signs of new feathers tho. I love her to bits.

They are usually a one person bird and extremely possessive. My sister's Severe beat me up a lot 😢😂😂

Omg really? Lol, mines not that violent. 😂 I think a one person bird really depends on many factors besides them just being a one person bird naturally. Mine loves both of us equally. I think the only birds who in my opinion are “one person birds”, without any outside factors are African Grays. And that’s from being in a group where the vast majority of African Gray owners say that their birds prefer their husbands. 😂😭

@@thebirdcouple They are not nearly as placid as the large macaws, prob their small size makes them more impulsive. I noticed the B&G macaws on a load of UA-cam videos are very serene. There's one named Odie from Odie and Brooklyn's channel and he is basically a human locked in a macaw's body. He argues with his mom and has full conversations. She pulled a load of videos where he did incredible things.

@@zombiefulci3301 omg! I need to see this macaw! Our Blue and Gold Macaw Bailey, who’s about 21 has a lot of anxiety and she was abused so I don’t really know how a normal, loved Blue and Gold acts! That will be fascinating! And you’re totally right, Cora can get nippy and she’s definitely all over the place, always doing something, going somewhere, can’t just chill. 😂 It’s like napoleon complex but for birds! 🤣😂

@@thebirdcouple Odie is something truly special, we are seeing something remarkable in this little boy. I saw he was talking to his mom about a puppy, he asked "is he gonna get BIG?" His mom wanted to take a pic of him in his banana box and he asked "why you wanna take a picture of me?" Then he went into the box upside down and put his foot in his mouth and exclaimed "WAHHHHHHH!!" He is a total clown and he has this super empathetic way of understanding the situation.
He is full of sass and makes fun of people, he dances and sings original tunes. He is an escape artist and gets out of his cage with ease. He can throw his voice as well.
I can't begin to tell you the terrific things this kid (I call him the Impossible Kid) can do.
I love him, I really do and would adopt him in a second

@@thebirdcouple Yeah, Severe's small size, they have to prove something; always getting into fights to show who's the boss. They can be very loving but they are less stable than the large macaws

@@Hi-gh5dw I would say sometimes but more chill then anything. Of course, that’s just my severe macaw, there could be severe macaws that are immensely playful out there. All birds are so different.
