    I feel like I should pay money for this video. This one is really quite impressive. The last tip is likely the best of them all. With that said, remember your subscriber base too - we deal with a TON of long serves that are tricky too. Just an idea for a follow up. I'm already thinking I need my partner to send me short to the forehand and long to the backhand 50/50. I just learned so much that my mind is mush now. The lifting heavy backspin is something I needed right now - I'm struggling against this and I can't wait to start working on it - my practice partner actually has heavy spin. He is learning to use lighter spin now too...ugh, serve return is so complex.

    • @PechPongTT
      @PechPongTT  3 роки тому +25

      Haha yeah I figured I would just put it out there for everyone who finds my channel. Yeah how to practice is just as important as what to practice!
      Your right long serves are tough, I think they are actually more tough than short because there can be more spin and are faster, its just that the risk is higher when a person serves long for their opponent to hit a winning shot so pros don’t serve long that often because they want to have control over the outcome and not leave it up to their opponent. Good players spend a lot of time practicing long serves early on because its the gateway to a higher level. I think its most important to learn to spin the ball with heavy back and side spin serves because you can delete the spin that’s on the ball and put on your own, anytime you can do that you decrease the difficulty of the long serves.

      Yeah just look at He Zhi Wen - destroys opponents with long serve. Long serves are underrated and I started using them when I realized they put you into a rally immediately, rather than messing around with short steps for short game.

      @@kevziro I'm a newbie only a year and a half playing, I agree with you, but prob not at the very top levels?
      I use long serves with spin a lot find them v effective.
      Nice to see you reference He Zhi Wen! He trains people a few times a week at my club in Dublin Ireland, nice chap. He was actually training someone at the table next to me last night ha.

    It would be great if you could also show how to return a short reverse pendulum topspin service that lands on the forehand side. I always pop it up when pushing from my forehand. I know I can flick it, but just wanted to understand the technique to push such serves.

      There are a couple ways to return that serve and you have to find the one that suits the way you play. Some players like to come in and just angle the racket pretty perpendicular to the ball and let the spin and energy bounce it back over, others like to go with the spin in much the same manner think Timo boll he does this one a lot and then others like to go with the spin and chop down on it like Fan Zhendong his angle will be more open and pointing to the ceiling than the others not bu much but a little more and the downward motion counteracts the topspin that is on the ball and going with the spin stops the ball from biting the rubber and throwing it somewhere you don’t want it to

    Great video man, thanks for the all the help, really really very detailed and great stuff. I sometimes was doing the "wait for the fall" sometimes but i didn't know the technique behind it. That's why some days i happen to always reply "short" shots and some days i just can't. now i know what was the technique i unintentionally did in one of the days and made it work that way.

    Awesome video. For a while I was in my head like unable to understand how to hit the ball higher on heavy backspin... lift it! Excellent vid. I am finally able to binge all your stuff now that I got my wisdom teeth out and can't do anything else haha. This video is gold, not sure what I would do without it.

    Many thanks for summarising all types of serve returns; also you have given examples of top world players. Furthermore, detailed videos will be practical to start excercising, on each type of serve return, seperately.
