Thank you for making this video mate, it’s been a massive help! I’ve taken inspiration from one of the designs, so hopefully i can get something put together, ready for my gearbox to arrive in a couple of days 👀
Looks like a business opportunity here for someone to produce some low gear shift brackets. I' d buy one straight away cos I can't be arsed to try and make one myself 😜
I have nights where my mates come round and take turns. I don't have a seat though. Come to think of it I don't even have a computer. We don't call it "racing night" either.
I would strongly urge you to only use those 22mm motorcycle handelbar clamps. Tape up your frame, just a little and use those. They are cheap and will prevent you from over tightning. The Playseat frame is made of hollow pipes and 've seen a few options here that made me cringe. If you overtighten your clamps and compress the hollow frame pipe it will loose all it's solidity and collaps on itself. Use proper rounded clamps made to exact size, Motorcycle clamps are purpose build for this and cheap !
It's worth sending him a message on eBay. I was all set to build something for the gears, but this saves me a lot of hassle. If his custom model is too expensive to ship, you could always just pay a joiner to create something for you.
Great video. I think going for a low mounted gearbox is much better solution for more realism. I mean the gearstick in my car isn't next to my steering wheel lol. Hope the custom mount is good quality and looking forward to see how it goes 👍
Thanks Evo. It wasn't too much more than buying the sorts myself so hopefully it's a good solution. I didn't want to put the gears in a high position. I have played some arcade games that have them higher, but low down is more practical and more realistic. I'm surprised Playseat haven't came out with a better solutions as there's clearly a demand for it.
Just watched vid and sorted my own mod. Simple and cheap. 2 x 22mm Munsen clips (check them out at B and Q for a few ££‘s). Screwed to a slim wood/plastic plate and then screwed an L shape bracket to this. Perfect !!
@kevinmuldoon Hi there kevin. I've just come across your channel & this vid, good work. Every Playseat Challenge owner has been looking for THE perfect solution to this problem since it's launch. But was you aware there is now THE SOLUTION ?? Lowdown Shifter, launched their iconic brand late last year, in fact only days before you posted this vid! Their ingenious Mod Mount Interface Systems, for the majors like Thrustmaster, Fanatec & Logitech, have revolutionised the Playseat Challenge experience completely. And taken the Challenge to a whole new level opening up a stream of possibilities delivering the Original & only performance product on the market to exceed the solution. The actual Mod Mount, at the core of all their products, is pretty impressive I have to say. Making it now a revered product. Their systems are lightweight, compact & deliver EXACTLY how & what you would wish to expect from such a product. Innovative in design, with over 10KG of downforce! There is not one thing cheap about this brand, it has had a lot of investment & their range is growing fast. With new products about to launch in the next 2 weeks. Every system is AMBIDEXTROUS delivering both L/H/D & R/H/D options. Constructed of Grade - A aluminium, high end complimentary fittings, super deluxe high gloss finish with a nice bit of Lowdown Shifter branding. The Mod Interfaces are also water resistant, universal & reversible, if you fancy a different look. There is also a graphic option on some of their products, the print technology used is state of the art, anti-scratch & incredibly resistant. In addition none of the products once mounted, alter or impede the design integrity of the Playseat Challenge. Their designed only to enhance the experience. Based in the UK but deliver anywhere on the planet! There is some real clever stuff going on with these guys & there's a lot more to come for everyone in the community. Whether you're a PC or Console user. So if you or any of your subscribers have not found Lowdown Shifter & are still pulling their hair out with this problem, or maybe even resenting their Playseat product a bit now. TIME to discover the solution & build your product in to an actual driving sim you will be proud of owning! UA-cam isn't showing me exactly which video this comment is attached to in the mobile app, but if you're talking about the gear shifter holder, it worked out OK. I did a video about it 👍
@@KevinMuldoon great, yes that's the one. I had a look last night but couldnt see it. Will have another gander. Thanks for all the homework, saves me a ton of hassle 😁
Your research...made me save a lot of time in just a 30 min video....i was like....why so big vid.....but... I watched it all... Thank you so much.
Glad you liked it Stk 👍

You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed the video. I'm sure you'll have a blast with your new setup.
15:52 is the best solution

it's very cheap and simple, you only need a car exhaust clamp and a 90⁰ bracket, I made one last week and it cost me less than a tenner

on a rally car it technically is pretty much next to the wheel, but then again i doubt u drive that in real life xd
Sequential gearbox yes but not a manual H pattern box.

Congratulations. Driving with gears really makes a difference.
Nice video you can also use a vesa mount for tv to mount the shifter
Check out a website called Lowdownshifter they make mounts for the playseat challenge.

do you think the playseat trophy shifter mount would work for the playseat with slight modifications?
I'm not sure as it wasn't designed for it. I'd drop an email to playseat to ask.
You did an amazing work 👏
Thanks 👍
Finally fixed the gear shift problem, but now you are playing F1.....where they use paddle shifters. Congrats though.
Haha I know. It's a fun game though. The gears are great for the rally games.
Kevin Muldoon - yeah, saw that at the end
Very thorough.

I would be happy to test it out if you are willing to ship me a demo of it.
@@KevinMuldoon Thanks for the reply. Please contact me directly via the contact page on our website, we can take it from there.
Emailed you.
Kevin Muldoon hey Kevin, did you get it? I would like to see a review of this, and most people would like to as well
No I haven't received a demo.
great help man! Thanks alot
You're welcome.
congrats! 10x for the video
Thanks for the kind words
Thank you helped alot
I just use a small table and clamp the shifter on it
Lol did that and it just tipped over with the weight of the shifter
does the seat open only from right to left?
yes only one way
For sequential shifter is better a Lil bi high
Did you ever get a solution in place??
I bought one from eBay, but it slides a lot. I'm still keen to get a better solution.
Will the Logitech g27 shifter support from playseat work with a g920 or g29 shifter?
Thanks.
I believe it does, but I've not tested it.
Kevin Muldoon cheers mate
You are basiclly just attaching a little platform. You can put a cup holder on there for all the metal plate cares.
Any update with this?
What kind of update?
