"He said he gonna go home and rest, and he said he gonna come back tomorrow to finished this song... and he never returned"
-Brian May
That's heartbreaking
come on he's just saying what brian may said lol

Really miss Freddie mercury so damn much..this song upsets me so much but l must hear Freddie one last time..
and we got the last verse and he said 'I'm not up to this, and I need to go away and have a rest, I'll come back and finish it off...' and he never came back
do you mean these words?
1975: mama, didn't mean to make you cry, if i'm not back again this time tomorrow, carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters
1991: mama please, let me back inside...

"I remember I was on my way to see Freddie. I was about 300 meters away, and someone called me and said, ''Don't bother coming. He's...He's gone." - Roger Meadows Taylor.
I think roger said it was peter freestone that called him to inform him of freddies death.
It was Peter Freestone who called him

From such a healthy man to dying slowly it truly tears me up

"And Freddie at that time said ‘Write me stuff … I know I don’t have very long; keep writing me words, keep giving me things I will sing, then you can do what you like with it afterwards, you know; finish it off’ and so I was writing on scraps of paper these lines of ‘Mother Love’, and every time I gave him another line he’d sing it, sing it again, and sing it again, so we had three takes for every line, and that was it … and we got to the last verse and he said ‘I’m not up to this, and I need to go away and have a rest, I’ll come back and finish it off … and he never came back" ~ Brian May

Had pleasure to listen to this story in Mountain Studios in Montreux where they have been recording. You're able to play it and mix it too! Epic experience!
Perhaps the saddest moment in rock history is when Brain finishes the song in the last verse, voice laced with agony and you know he's gone...
I just wish i could have met freddie in person..
It all starts to rewind real fast with Freddies song and then a baby cries..Gave me cold chills😪

The most unbelievable thing is that we're listening to the performance of a man in his literal last days on earth. Freddie Mercury was born a legend. He lived as a legend. And he died as a legend.
My heart breaks at 3:50 when Brian starts singing and with so much pain in his voice it's just heart-wrenching
So true .. 💔💔

Philip Karovski This was Freddie's last recording. He said he would finish it the next time he was in the studio but never had the chance. Hence Brian singing some of it. R.I.P Freddie. Still miss you 😢
So true
I can feel the pain Freddie felt singing this, I'm feeling so bad right now, I want to cry.
Me too
Federica Viviani me too.
More than pain, I feel resignation with a little bit of melancholy.
.
Federica Viviani even the beat is heartbreaking just look back at 1985 so up beat tear run down when I listen to this Freddie no more true words can have been sung or spoken for a true final good bye to his mother and his fans
You could tell that Brians heart was breaking in that last verse. RIP Freddie we miss you and love you so much🙏💞
I could just picture Freddie saying after his last vocals: "I'll come back and finish this. I don't feel very well, Brian." I also felt the pain that Freddie felt during this song. It was so sad to see him go. RIP Freddie Mercury, may you sing in the heavens above, looking down at your fans and appreciating their support.
Edit: May not be what he exactly said, but I tried to picture it that way.

Brian sings the last verse because Freddie passed away before this song was finished... very sad.. x
+pixiepqueen i have read that Mercury's vocals for Mother Love were recorded between 13 to 16 May 1991 On his website, May discussed the writing process he and Mercury had (writing both separately and together, and conscious of the nature of the song and the lyrics) upon reaching the final verse, Freddie told May that he had to go and "have a rest" but that he would return later and finish it. After that, Freddie never made it back to the studio, and thus May sang the last verse on the track. you may know he passed away during November, i imagine it was finished before he passed, but reconstructed for the album....
pixiepqueen Actually that's not true, Freddy was too sick at that point, this song was recorded just a month or so before his death.
F
@@DarkSektori yes he was too sick but it was 6 months before he passed away
Yummy Sounds this song was recorded 6 months before Freddy’s passing
4:20 According to wikipedia: "At the end of the song it features a sample from a live sing along session recorded at Queen's famous 1986 concert at Wembley Stadium, and a sample from the intro of the studio version of "One Vision" and "Tie Your Mother Down".
Also, close to the end of the track features *a few seconds of every Queen song ever recorded* put together and then rapidly sped through a tape machine."
HOLY MOLY
Wikipedia got the location/year of the Ay-o wrong. It was at Live Aid. Freddie did do a call-back with the crowd at Wembley but it was a different one that preceded "Under Pressure."
SonshineLady no, the one used in mother love is actually from Wembley 1986. You can tell from the fact that Freddie is calling out in a lower register as opposed to the octave he sang in at live aid
*4:20* 😂
The very last lines are from the song going back which was the first thing he ever recorded in the studio
I think this is to signify him passing on, and believe me, it sounds kinda terrifying.
1981- Play the game: Everbody play the game of love...
1991- Mother love: I've had enough of this same old game...
U can tell Mercury's voice is not quite as powerful as before. I'm not entirely certain how close he was to death. But you can tell he's struggling. Tho he still hits the notes
he died during this song at the end brian may finishes the song because freddie is gone
He never finished the song...
The First part that Freddie sang was recorded in May of 1991. So 6 months before his death in November.
3:04 is the last time you can hear Freddie's voice, after recording that Freddie said the he wasn't feeling well and he wanted to go home for a rest, he said he would come and finish the rest tomorrow but he passed away before he could finish the last verse of the song.
Actually i think his voice not very powerful but he can hit hight notes with ease. I think thats because he stopped smoking and drinking 4 years ago. If you listen 1986 concerts almost half of the concerts he struglles to hit high notes. Like Bb4 or C5.
Mind blowing that he could still sing and hit those notes in his condition. That's a true man right there
That's true talent!!
Jebediah Gentry so true man

"Mama, please, let me back inside"... my interpretation would be that he wants to go back to his mother's womb. He doesn't want to die. He wanted to feel the protection and well being he had before being born... and he was let back inside and he was born again according to the end of this video when you see the newborn baby crying. siento lo misrmo! el saber que Freddie se fue antes de lo que debia me duele demasiado, pero las canciones son reconfortantes y es bonito saber que Freddie vive en sus canciones y cuando se puede siempre se aprovecha
( I am Italian so please excuse in advance my English grammar failures) So after an initial first view of the video and admittedly hardly understanding the connection with the song, and after reading multiple negative comments, I chose to watch it more closely... and realized there is more to what meets the eye.
My personal interpretation is: the spaceship from which the man (Freddie) is escaping is the Queen Band. There are 3 cryogenic tanks as per the remaining members of the band, and he checked out their vitals showing he cares about them. The alien is most likely the AIDS disease and allures only him by taking two forms: himself, being in a way his own "worst" enemy; and the woman, which could (metaphorically speaking) represent Love in Freddie's life. The kid is most likely the son he never had or represent Innocence and the forgiveness he seeks. Knowing he cannot live longer with the disease and has to leave the ship alone, sets Earth as the capsule's target, and in his trip through death relives his life backwards, as said in reincarnation. You can hear songs by Queen, up until their first performance...finally a baby cries and he is reborn.
I am pretty sure this is more or less the meaning Queen intended to pass through the music video of such a remarkable and epic final song. Of course IMHO! Never boring, I must say you did a great job.

It's 2019 now... I was there thru all of it. Cheering them on. Watching them on MTV. They WERE my youth. My teen years. My life. I'll never forget Freddie... Queen... There was nobody like them and there won't ever be.. Freddie was one of a kind.❤️😢 Miss you so still.🙏💕💞❣️❤️💓✌️💕❤️
I get chills at when he says “mama please let me back inside”
"My heart is heavy, my hope is gone" :'(
Saddest song ever. long live Mercury!
I was born in 1997 and I miss Freddie a lot. So much talent in one man.
Rip Freddie Mercury
Your In A Better Place Now

Yeah
24th November On this day legendary Rock singer passed away. you will never be forgotten RIP Freddie 🖤
On this day, 33 years ago, our beloved Freddie Mercury performed his final vocals, singing this song.
That part near the end where Freddy just unleashes all the strength he has, just sends chills down my spine. Because for that moment I forgot it was someone who was maybe a month away from dying. And you listen it's not forced voice or anything, it's the Freddy Mercury voice you herd during one of his triumphant performances at Wimbley Stadium and I still to this day wonder how he managed to do that bit but it's spine chilling Everytime I hear the song.
It was recorded in mid 1991, he died in november 1991. So he was like 6 months away from death
Raban I thought he recorded it like a week before his death cuz Brian had to finish it. He said he’d come back and finish it but he never did
@@hollywoodjhawk7682 That's partially true. He said he'd come back to finish it, but eventually never did. But this happened in May and he died in november as I already mentioned.
I guess that all the strength he had to keep on recording was completely used on the chorus ("Out in the city, in the cold world outside..."), so, even if he wanted to complete this song, he wouldn't be able because his cords were no longer in conditions to singing anymore, only to speaking as softly as possible from that moment on due to his already frail state, despite he recorded his vocals for Mother Love months away from his ultimate and heartbreaking departure.
No I read somewhere that the last time Freddie was in the recording studio was between 13-16 September. This was recorded on the 16th making it one of a few recording of Freddie aged 45.
The eeeoos in the end are just ....😢😢 and they start to glich ,my heart just breaks😭😭 ...
Thats not a glitch ... thats short bits of EVERY Queen song ever sped and spliced up
Stupenda questa canzone grandissimo Freddie hai cantato fino alla fine, con tanta sofferenza addosso sei unico.
"I long for peace before I die." I hope Freddie had it when he died. So sad. But I'm glad Queen continued on.
