Last year in June we bought a 64 beetle that was featured in the VW Trends magazine in 1997 and we have the magazine with the car in it. Then it was left outside for 15 or 20 years. We been working on it for a year bringing it back to life and now it runs and we been driving it. We’re keeping it original as possible and we hope to take it to shows hopefully soon and bring it back to way it was back in the days. Great Video and Great Story! 👍
VW stories are so cool... I have a 67 bug and sometimes I'm walking by the car I wonder who the first owner was and where are they now and do they know their car is still alive
Love the 66 Linda story. Kudos for him trying to keep it as original as possible. But it did bring me back to when my husband and I divorced. He got the special edition 70 Beetle we had. Then he went and traded it in on a used Opal! That didn't turn out so well. Had I known, I would have bought the Beetle from him.
Great story and really appreciate the video. My old bus has no story because I think the previous owners are deceased. I tried to find them but no luck. It was last registered in 96 and and sat in a field over 10 years.
Awesome story!!! Just got back from Colorado and I had a lot of fun seeing the Rockies, Royal Gorge, Pikes Peak, and much more! P.S., I actually went to the Forney Transportation Museum and even some places at Colorado and even the Austin International Airport South Terminal (such as the Denver Int'l Airport & Downtown Estes Park) and from those places, I saw a '59 Beetle, a '74 Thing, and even some images and stickers of a VW bus, too! We had a great time at Colorado! And I had a lot of fun there! Parv
Always great to hear a story like this. Like our oval that is in our family since 1955 and sits still since 1986. Now I'm restoring the oval (phoenix) mechanically and some rust places, all the rest will be original. Looked for video's on UA-cam, but didn't find a lot of them. So I started to make them my selves. And at the evening watching others there video's.
Another great video...even if I always end up hungry after your visits to Top Notch.....as for original paint, you can restore it, but you erase a whole lot of history which is then lost forever....this is spot on
Vws are people magnets they bring people together going tomorrow to get some points getting my 61 bug running its misfiring the tab that opens the points wore out thanks for sharing great cars
Funny coincidence with “Linda’s “ story. My first car back in 1974 was a 1970 Opel Kadett sedan, which I traded straight across in spring of 1975 for a 1966 bug Java green as well.
Another great video! Linda sounds very similar to my 62 beetle barn find I just dragged home…. Been sitting 40 years and in very good shape…. In the process of getting it running!
I was lucky my beetle is a 2 owner car me being the second 80.000 miles original paint and all the documents and service history I love it 13.00 single port 1969
My first car was a brand new tan '68 Beetle. $1,600 + $40 for an AM radio. It was tough because I was a young hell-on-wheels. It had just enough power to not get run over by a bigger car, and not so much power that I would worry about speeding tickets.
Vinegar doesn’t remove rust. Vinegar neutralizes metal. If you have rust, this is not for you. If you just want to Cowan out and old tank with water, then you need to use something like vinegar to neutralize the effect water has on the metal.
Great story! Matt Jackson, how are you getting those cool shots up in the air while your driving? Do you have a little drone or something? Thanks for the videos! These are the highlight of my Thursday nights!
Matt - "we're goin ta Top Notch " Gary - " I'm gettin an apple pie " ( maybe )the next day... Matt - " we're goin ta Kerbey Lane " Gary - " I'm gettin a peach cobbler " 🤣😂 fer some reason that cracked me up 🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎
Gary, where did you learn all this vw stuff? Is that why you go to school? Is to learn about Volkswagen’s? And also, my bus needs to do tuning because it can barely reach 53 mph. Why timing should I do?

VW life, talk about the vinegar treatment of gas tanks in a video! What it does, how well it works and when should you think about doing it.
will do!

it depends on your distributor , get the idiots guide and read the part about timing.
where do you buy your VW vehicles, especially the VW vans?
craigslist, facebook, barn finds :)
Can’t go wrong with a 66 bug
indeed!
Veggie burgers, good choice Matt Jackson.
