:48 seconds in and Matt Jackson is ROOSTED ! Wolfsburg West delivered , WOW ! I've been waiting to see an update on this Beetle . Another great video guys 👍
When I was about 7 yrs old, I had a 2 seater single wheel drive cart. I discovered that if you get up enough speed while in a full right turn, it would get up on the left wheels. I got to where I could balance fairly easily and drive as far as I wanted up on 2 wheels. I decided to show my parents what I could do. My mom freaked the hell out.
I’m always impressed by how you get organized for each project. Could you do an episode on how do this? I usually have to wait on things I forgot to order. School us getting the big picture and all of its components.
that's a great question. A lot of it is Tommie and Martin, they know every part that needs to go on a beetle. But the first step is to catalog what you have and then make a list of what you need. This take time. Get it all into a spreadsheet and then make your order. There will always be stuff missing but try to get as much together at once. It helps to have 4 minds focus on the list, because everyone is going to have their own ideas.
That's really crazy when I saw this sort of VW parts all together. It is almost impossible here in Brazil to buy, in a single shop, all parts we need. The price is really high and os difficult to find high quality parts. You guys and Wolfsburg West are amazing. Congratularions. And let us know all about this beautifull bug restoration.
So cool! I have the same red two seater go kart that I have redone and painted purple! I need to bring my go kart and my white 1966 VW Bug from Houston and hang out with you guys! And y'all eat good too! Looks like y'all had lots of fun!
Sounds like a great restoration coming up. I’m excited too. You guys do a great job of keeping the culture alive. Keep Bugg’n and Buss’n and we’ll keep watching for sure. Thanks Again!! BigW:-) 👍

The whole patina thing comes down to is the car valuable enough to fully restore or just as usable transportation, with proper safety and mechanical repairs, and many people will drive them raw(just bought) and sometimes sell to someone wanting to fix it more. One of the best arguments I just recently saw was a 59 Chevy Biscayne resued from the crusher, cobbled together, by someone with good mechanical and body skills, and brought to a driveable state with motor and transmission, to the cars original status being only a six cylinder 3sp manual column which made it not worth a proper full restoration. You can see this and some of their more expert work, and the many vehicle saved at coldwarmotors. Sometimes way beyond my abilities but at least giving some hope on keeping intersting vehicles on the cheap or fully restored.
I love VWs and had a 67 12 volt bus camper many years ago and it was great but at that time I didn't have the knowhow or money so I enjoyed it a for a summer and moved on, needing money and a $50 running hornet with a bent in half hood was in the back lot of local ford dealer to replace it.
Wish you all live next door to me but if you did you may want wear a heavy coat. Looking forward to the build agree on Wolfburg West been procuring parts from them over the past ten years and a lot more I will be buying for my 67 bus the Condo Bondo.
@@VWLifeVW yes they do nice people's and u should come here California and see that store and I am having hard time but I just getting parts each month and I am hard of hearing that I am deaf just let u know and I have to get all new parts for my vw baja bug can't wait to restore it upgrade and that company is hug big place
Pa-ti·na /pəˈtēnə/ : a noun used to romanticize the damage, failing paint, and rusty surfaces of a car body in an effort to deflect from the fact that the car’s owner spent all of the restoration budget on custom mods and can no longer afford body work and paint. Just kidding! Enjoy you Bug any way you want!
i'll be honest and say i am sick and tired of the "patina" look, get a cheap maco paint job or something anything but rust, patina is a fad that needed to die a long time ago, otherwise great and awesome video
we get i, but another factor is time and money. a cheap maco paint job will look bad if you don't prep it. we'd spend a ton of time in body prep before maco could get their hands on it to paint it. believe us, we know. we did this two years ago with a 68 beetle. the maco paint job came out great but only after alot of prep.
I agree with Luke. The "patina" fad is a joke. It's just an excuse to not do it right in the first place. Your about to put 10k in parts on it but gonna cheap out on the paint?
I agree but you have to respect their effort. Don’t worry my 65 will have PPG Concepts Single Stage with DCU2021 mixed in the last coat. So, it will look better than it did from the factory in 1965. With over 20 years of body & paint experience in the auto collision field. I’ll make you happy. 🤙
I hate it when people dump money into a car then leave the rust and wasted paint. Garbage. I know each to their own but honestly, If you want to leave it crusty, dont fix the inside. Its like waxing a turd. Its still a turd.
well they're more factors than that. In this case there's not actually rust so that's not part of the equation. Paint and body is immensely expensive. You're talkin about hours and hours of body work and materials. And that's before you even paint. so if you're working on a budget like we are it makes way more sense to make what you have work. That's kind of like anything in life. and then your appreciate things for what they are instead of trying to make them into something they're not
You can't go wrong with Wolfsburg West! =)
