This was fun to watch as a rugby referee. Lots of similar situations in rugby. Taking a player in the air, obstruction, taking the man without the ball, etc.
Yes, Defensive Pass Interference seems to be the early consensus from the comments. I've since seen the full replay from the broadcast and the commentator didn't mention anything about a missed penalty, instead talked about the underthrow from the QB. But I've watched it two dozen times now and it seems like DPI to me. The receiver is playing the ball, while the Defender does all sorts of stuff that could be called for pass interference.
@@SportsExplainedkinda disagree with this one. It looks like the defender is playing the ball and making light contact but not in a way that constitutes pass interference. After the tip the defender clearly interferes but no pass interference once ball is tipped.
Last one is DPI, it would've been a clean play if he was a split second later, it was very close. Just a bit too early. I got all but 1 of them right (Steelers x eagles opi), was hard to tell on a few of these because of the lower quality. Good concept of a video tho, would love to see one of these for roughing the passer/kicker. Those penalties I've noticed are ones people don't understand well at all.
Fun Video - would be great If you did Something on Basic offense and or defense schemes / plays. Route running and or stuff Like that. Your Videos been quite enlightening for Somebody new to the Sport
@SportsExplained yeah also cool Video Seen it. But more Like - how you Line Up against certain looks. But for offense be great aswell - especially routes and stuff. Anyway Really cool Channel you got going Here thank you very much!!
Great to see you back. They need to enforce interference more like this in Aussie Rules marking contests- it’s like the Wild West at the moment- you can poke a guy in the eye and its play on
the algorithm has blessed me on this day, really grateful to be recommended this great video! fun exercise to try to test my own ability to make these calls, gives good perspective lol
Yea, Defensive Pass Interference seems to be the early consensus from the comments! Yea. No call is probably the answer. If a flag was going to be thrown it could have been just DPI; One of the analysts thought it was either no call or DPI, the other two seemed to side with no call. They discussed it for a while, and I cut the discussion before the third analyst came on and said maybe DPI. The double flag was odd -- I can't remember ever seeing that!
I would say the last one is DPI, I don't see the offense doing anything wrong there, but I don't watch much football. Also yay welcome back new video hooray!
Thanks! Good to be back, even if it's for one video at a time. And yes, Defensive Pass Interference seems to be the early consensus from the comments. @@SportsExplained Maybe he thought that by the time the ball came to him the contact had nearly ended? Honestly seems like DPI to me as well but oh well
Here's the thing on that last play Pass interference for sure on the DB, however I think he was preparing to play the ball, however Daniels lobbed it so high that when the defender thought it was coming down, where he interfered, he was playing the ball, when the pass was still in the air

I've since seen the full replay from the broadcast and the commentator didn't mention anything about it, instead talked about the underthrow from the QB. I've watched it two dozen times now and it seems like a pretty clear case of DPI. The DB possibly lunges at the receiver "through the back," but either way gets all sorts of tangled with the receiver and causes the receiver to fall. The receiver is only trying to catch the ball.
A lot of people saying the last one is DPI... personally I like the no call. He doesn't really restrict the receiver, he's just getting between the receiver and the ball. I always prefer when the defender gets the benefit of the doubt on tight calls (especially on DPI because its a spot foul) and I rarely see those sorts of plays called for DPI.
Babe Sports Explained remembered his channel password!
putting the rams saints no call in here would've been hilarious
Wouldn't want to re-traumatize anyone
At least the last clip pays homage to it

Defensive Pass Interference at the end.

So glad you're still making videos!
He's back!
Awesome to see a video again! Hope you keep consistent!

To make it fair to the refs, we should be watching these clips like they have to: with our eyes closed.

I've got that for defense! ua-cam.com/video/K0aWuzqqUIU/v-deo.html

This was a great video! Definitely more of these tests!
Yet another high quality video from this channel, well done my dude
We missed you!
I feel like the last clip was DPI because the defender had no eyes on the ball and was focused on guarding his man more than catching the ball.

Thank you! Greatly appreciated. I think the defender was early on that last one--probably a DPI.

omg he remembered the password! Christmas has come a few hours early!
for #5 i had it as no call

Last play was DPI IMO since the defender was focussed on the player and not on the ball and made significant contact with the arms.
Do you love or hate Christmas? 11 months between videos, friend. I feel like you're playing the long game and only I'm stupid enough to keep up.
damn the last one is so gross 😭
Definitely dpi
Ya know, NFL refs miss a call sometimes but you got to tip your hat to them. I don't know how they do it.
