I wish all UA-cam commercials were embedded in videos like this. A simple, tasteful short ad in the middle of a 15 minute video that a lot of work went into making is reasonable.
As a former collegiate Nose Guard [Interior Defensive Tackle], I concur... The blocking schemes and audibles were always impressive to me... My school played and aggressive, slanting 3-4 and I was amazed when offenses managed to block our stunts and blitzes... I'm happy I got to turn my brain off and just play fast... I saved my thinking for the Engineering Building...
@@busyrand I haven't heard a reference to "turn my brain off" regarding football in a long time 😅! Brings me right back to my highschool offensive line coach asking if we remembered to turn our our brains back on after D line practice.
@@micahlarimer155 Hahahaha! It's always funny to hear the roasting between us in the Pits... Much respect... Your comment brought me some joy on a tough day...
As someone new-ish to football and trying to understand it beyond "see QB throw ball far" I was HOPING you guys would do something like a "for dummies" series. This is awesome!
Run game is much more vast than pass pro… A good content creator could do monthly videos on run game and not cover much. Tough ask to ask generally about run game in one video.
Always been a casual yet dedicated fan. Love watching football but gave up playing it very young. Learning stuff like this is going to make watching the game so much more fun than it already is! Thank you!!!!
Thanks for these kind of videos, I really appreciate you as one of the few channels that will actually break stuff down in depth and you make it easy to understand!
These are the videos i watch your channel for. Keep breaking down the strategy and terms. Been watching for 40 years and this is the best explanation I've seen.
Fantastic content -- I would love to see an entire series of deep dives like this on all positions. I've been watching football for years but I learnt so many new things that will add to enjoyment i get when i watch my next game! Really superb work!
I've been watching football for over twenty years now, and the offensive line, and its offensive schemes, were the last thing i learnt in football - and I learnt a lot watching this video! thanks.
Yeeeees!!! Finally!!! I've tried to find this type of thing before and came up empty handed...explanations of play calling, defense, offense, all that? Not super easy to find. Subbed SO hard!!! 👍
I really enjoyed this detailed strategy breakdown! The offensive line is something in football I've never understood well and this video makes the basics digestible for laymen like me. I'd love to see more videos like this!
SUPERB VIDEO!!! Coach a pop Warner U14 team...watched this video with them to end last week. This week they've looked capable of combatting high school defenses. Dramatic improvement in play, smarter questions asked during drills. TY TY TY!
I have been watching football all my life and I still learned a lot from this video. I am familiar with a lot of the plays, but I never really knew the reasoning behind some of the calls.
very few understandable pass pro youtube videos that I have found. Pretty much just this and the QB school one. As someone who never played but finds the x and o aspect very interesting I appreciate this video massively.
i'm a very new football fan and i love how you diagram everything before the play, while you explain it, it really helps illustrate what everyone's supposed to do! offensive lines are actually kinda fun to watch.
Loving this! Would love to hear a bit more about differences between the various level of ball and tendencies (HS vs D1 vs NFL etc) What's more effective/common at each level and what not.
This was interesting and discussed things that I have never considered. I played in my HS days and have watched football for most of my life, but I learned alot today about the thinking of the game... thanks. Roll Tide! ( sorry, I just had to)
Have learnt so much from this type of content. 1st time coach from NZ really appreciate the content Sir 🙏🏈💯 literally ran cover 7 in my first season as HC with a bunch newbies and we made semi finals and finals in ntoh comps we entered. Def gonna try implament this i our next season.
Great video. I would have liked to see something about RPO blocking too though. I've always wondered how they manage to block well enough for a run without going down field too far at the same time.
Really awesome video for me, as ive played flag, but never tackle football. Fills in a nice piece of missing knowledge of thr game. Thanks ThinkingFootball!
The breakdown is great, I learned a lot from the football info before the protection stuff. I need to find out if you have more of these for other concepts and knowledge!
i played o-line in hs and college and as fun a mauling ppl is, i loved the strategic unit-play the most... been a youth league coach for a minute but had to turn down my first HS opportunity this year on account of having my first kid and watching this video really made excited to get out there next season at a higher level or i can introduce some of the more advanced concepts... much appreciated
Great explanation! I’ve always wondered if defenses can read play action just by the fact that the line starts to drop into a pass pro pattern instead of run block
Some of this I already knew like the gaps. Some I didn't know the tech's on D. But all of it was informative. I stopped playing football in middle school so I only ever got the basics of this stuff. I was just too small to continue playing any longer. In HS I was only 5'9 140lbs and no I wasn't very fast so playing a spot like RB or WR wasn't really an option. When I quit my favorite position was DE. But as far as coaching went I just knew if I was blitzing or holding my spot. Extremely basic.

I love recaps on players but the technical breakdown on strat is dope

I'm completely new to football, and I thought this video was very digestible. Thanks for letting people like me enjoy the tactics of football.
This is the kind of educational content I'm constantly looking for. I'd watch every episode of a series about xs and os in that format

The mark of a great UA-cam channel is how much you trust it to watch it while you eat. And this one is up there as trustworthy.

Great video. I would have liked to see something about RPO blocking too though. I've always wondered how they manage to block well enough for a run without going down field too far at the same time.
I class RPOs as part of the run game as they are an option play - I'll definitely cover them in the run breakdown video
Raiders in the 70's and 80's dominated the o-line . Left side Highway 63 . Upshaw and Shell. RN4L
You are the best analysis in the game ...Thanks for teaching!!
Awesome tutorial. You always present in a way that is easy to understand for those of us that never played the game. Thanks.

Of course I didn't realize why until I was out of HS. They got a new coach and went 7-2 with half the athletes the next year. We went 0-8.
