Just played her for the first time in an assault game, I owned with her so hard it was stupid, and I didn't even know what her abilities did before I got in game! Truly op as hell....
They kinda ruined her now, shoulda sticked to old kit
I'd actually like to see Herc redone next if possible. He TOTALLY lacks his bow which he uses in his legend and is in my honest opinion one of his more iconic icons..okay next to the hide of the lion, lol.

This has caught my interest, I just wanna say this is presented really well. Brief history, skills, playstyle and gameplay scenarios. Love that she was playing with the cat in the end like that, really cute.
I haven't played a MMO in time, in fact hearing so much about LoL, DOTA, FFXXIV etc kinda erks me, but I am a sucker for lore and mythology.
This isn't a mmo, it's a moba.
While she is sexier, most depictions of Bastet look like her old model, I am gonna miss my blue cat, now she looks like a supermodel Egyptian woman cosplaying as a nekomimi.
At least her moveset remains the same (as does her running speed) For a wihle I thought she got slower, but it just might be her new animations that make it seem that way.
Her earlier model had a lot less clothes though.
And how is that bad ? have you seen the murals depicting the Egyptian goddesses ?

Bast is a little op. I suggest nerfing her ultimate, cat call, and make it last a couple of seconds. The thing that really makes this ultimate deadly, is that not only are they annoying to kill they slow the enemy, do tons of damage, and last for a really long time. Nerfing one of these three effects of her ability should even it out.
Also, other Egyptian Gods I'd like to see in Smite are:
Osiris, Set, Thoth, and Ma'at(especially Ma'at, she is the Egyptian Goddess of justice, basically the Egyptian equivalent of Tyr and Nemesis.)
Maybe it's just me, but whenever I use cat call, it doesn't do anything other than rake about 100 damage before it's negated. I'd prefer a shorter, nuke-ish ultimate. Maybe a cat rocket!

Each cat does around 50 damage, and every second with all three cats is 150. That can cause some major destruction. Thats why i suggested nerfing one of the three things it does. I think it would be equal if that were to happen.
A cat rocket would be awesome though xD

I know how it'd work.
"Bastet loads a cat into her launcher and fires it in a line, attaching to the first enemy god it encounters. The cat claws at it's target for 3 seconds, dealing damage each second and amplifying any existing bleeds on the target by 25%. The cat can be harmed by enemies. Should the duration finish, the enemy god is slowed by 20% for 5 seconds, and the cat leaps to a new victim."

I'm also not a fan of Bastet's new model. She doesn't particularly look like a cat, more like a rodent. Her cats do look much better but she no longer is uniquely Bastet. Just like Agni, she's been homogenized to have no unique characteristics. Especially the walk animation. Her and Nemesis's walk animation are basically the same just like Agni's and Apollo's are incredibly similar.

All this complaining!! I think we need to remember the good things that came with her remodel.
Firstly - the recolor skin. I always use her with the Dominatrix skin since it's actually bearable now (not to mention the lovely little tattooed inks under her eyes that aren't on the main). Pre-Update it was clearly dark blue, not black like the character card hinted. The beads around her waist were also an ugly tan color that melted into her skin, so it looked kind of like she was naked.
Secondly - posture. Oh my god, was I the only one who noticed her totally upright standing posture slanted backwards? On loading screens and god preview it was unsettling to look at, thank goodness she was more vertically aligned in the actual matches... you know when she actually bends her knees?
Thirdly - Cat o' Nine Tails / the whip. Behold! The almighty movement! Before the thing reminded me of one of those plastic segmented snakes that could wiggle back and forth one way but couldn't perpendicularly to that. Funky...
Fourthly - Color Scheme. Lol what, you say? I was an initial skeptic, but after a bit of thought, this color scheme seems to make more sense (though I do like the recolor better). It's actually believed that the sphinx was painted red at some point in time, and that would coincide with her currently reddish look. The first skin was more of a sarcophagus/statuesque gold look. Considering all the gems and stones the Egyptians probably received from trade and being the glamorous people they were, she is adorned quite logically. Not a fan of the baggage clothing, but it isn't intolerable.
Fifthly - just movement in general. Sure it's smoother and more cliche, but her landings are much softer after pounce. She has good clothes movement too. I also would like to mention that the dangling pieces from her helmet and "skirt?" stuck to her body like glued down sticks. The pieces on the helmet occasionally phased *through* her helmet when she turned. That's an improvement.
Lastly - Ult cats. Nuff said.
Yeah, there are some things I wish they would've kept. The bases of her ears are less triangular and more rounded. Not what you want for a cat but I can deal. The nose is less cat-ish and more human, it's slightly confusing in comparison with Ahnur now, but I'm talking like their lineage makes sense anyway. Other than that it's just more clothes - ones I don't favor, and the fact that she's less anthropomorphic. The whip is also jiggly so I only actually see the hit from the particle effects it makes on the enemy. That's kind of what whips do though, so it's okay. It's a whole new concept. Some favor it and others don't. It's got it's benefits nevertheless.
After-note: Her skill-set is mainly the same, which I love. I don't get the hate on her ult either, it's like her 2 only more diverse and it lasts longer with a much better range. I've body blockaded people since the cat's actually have substance so enemies become completely immobile (takes a little luck though). Fun fun fun 2000+ kills and assists and rising.

I'm not playing Smite anymore and now I have a reason why. I'm so pissed that they ruined Bastet's look so much! She was my favourite because she was kind of sexy and what is she now? She's a human-like-being that's supposed to look... "cute". Just NO, damn it! She looks ugly now! And I really don't like her running animation. It's just too girly-like. Urg... look at her, she looks like a cosplayer-girl! Her egyptian-cat-style was just perfectly fine. I hate these fucking reworks. Same shit like in League of Legends. Give her a better look and give her the sexy touch back. Worst rework ever, really! Would be better if this new look would have been only a skin... but noo.... sure it's not a skin and you have no choice but accept this. No Smite for me anymore I'll pass.
If you're no longer playing a game because on character (of many) changed, then I think you have some pretty interesting problems.

It was my favourite and I don't like many characters or all in a MOBA.
I just hate it when I like a character just the way the character is and then comes a change of the look. It's so wrong and the reason why I'm starting to hate MOBAS. Btw that was not the main reason that I stopped playing.
I had the same problem with Aphrodite model which it turned out it was better.
I agree Bastet was more 'feline' before but trust me, she's good now. Her win/loss animations are good too, she moves well and is smooth when switching from 2 to 4 legs walking/running.
The old model was so outdated, I agree the face was better earlier but overall she's way better and you still look at her from behind mostly.
What exactly is wrong with this model exactly? Nothing. So she isnt quite a cat, she retains a lot of her old self in it. More or less this model update was more of a simple reskinning, with some skeleton work here and there.
And lookie there, she actually has a passive!
So instead of having a game that moves forward in character design and skill balancing you want it to stay where it is, in fact move backwards? Yeah mobas aren't for you.

i love her, the only thing i find a bit weird is that her wallpaper art makes her look a darker skinned then her actual character model but other then that she's amazing!!!!

I REALLY enjoy SMITE and I think it's way better than any other game like LoL or Dota, but this jumping skills are getting ridiculous. The are uncountable gods with scaping habilities like jumping or teleporting and that makes everything more frustrating.
Ok people, just stop it, when ever you make ''scenarios'' you are fed as fuck. Come one, 40 kills to 8? Every time you do God reveal that God or/and his whole team are fed as fuck, ofc it will look nice when you pounce and instakill enemy, but that's not a point of ''scenarios''...

All the signs are there, that Bastet should have a steroid ult or something that works like the ult nemesis has. The whole ready to pounce at any moment concept, not to mention that if you've ever seen a cat cornered, they are bat shit crazy and pound for pound are possibly the most dangerous thing to fight with. I've yet to speak with anyone who likes the 3 summon ult
I've been playing bastet for a while now and destroyed everyone before she got buffed. Now what she is buffed no one stands a chance against me. So basically people that have been playing bastet for a while will utterly wreck people now.

Bastet is actually a merging of multiple Egyptian goddesses (something that happened multiple times in Egypt's history). One of them did happen to be a goddess associated with sensuality. While that didn't carry over as a major part of Bastet's lore, it is still present in the lore if you look hard enough.
If I look hard enough? Can we go by the established lores and not go by the small insignificant whispers regarding lores?

Ugh, I've been avoiding this game ever sense seeing the remake, Bastet used to be my favorite god but now I can't stand to look at her. Anime catgirl thingie with really messed up legs and unbelievably imprecise confusing attack animations, even for her skills... wtf... I wonder if I could get my bastet voicepack refunded...

His 3 is not OP, don't stand in it. Loki is the most easily countered god in the game. If you take 1300dmg in 2 seconds from him you are doing something wrong. Buy sprint, buy aegis, hell just buy some fkn wards, Loki countered.

His invis lasts a few seconds. If you place your wards right you can see him before he goes invis.
So buy beads and sprint. Buy aegis and sprint. Either combo will work. Learn to play. There is a reason Hades and Loki are never picked in high elo games. They are extremely easy to counter.

firedonutzFTW see, I liked it because it seemed to fit right in with the majority of the other gods. It didn't mean to be more human, it was just a cat on two legs. That goes perfectly with a pantheon that includes a dog, a lion, a bird and a crocodile! But now that she's taken on more of a human form she just seems more like Neith 2.0. There's way less that separates her from the other women now.
