I have a theory:
Asa actually has the scars all the time. But when Asa is in control she sees what she wants herself to look at. Kind of like how nobody has ever seen how their own face actually looks like

No the scars are definitely diegetic. Yoshida remarks on them in like the second chapter and a background characters says “I heard scars appear on her face when she’s fighting”

My theory is that Asa's scars are visible only when she's using War's power to create weapons, which would explain why the rumor of her scars says they only appear when she's fighting devils.

About Yoru's scars, I was thinking the opposite. That she always has the scars, but the viewer sees no scars when its Asa. Rather than everyone always seeing no scars but we the viewer see them appear on Yoru.
Potential theory:
Within in these past 2 chapters we’ve seen media suppression of the chainsaw man people incident along with how people are casually walking about the streets, I think Public Safety has captured nayuta, utilizing her talent in control. Potentially….

I think The appearance of Quanxi confirmed that Kishibe is present in the Structure where they chopped up Denji. Remember that Kishibe was the one to bring Makima’s corpse to get chopped up and turned into food, into the same structure where Denji ended up into. they turned Nayuta into “Sushi” or food, like Makima. Kishibe might of done this to prevent the prophecy from happening. Fami is forcing Denji to eat Nayuta unknowingly. That’s why she’s kinda forcing Denji to eat

So my only question I have leaving this chapter is about fami and barem connection, and if fami was ok with barem setting up nayuta to die. Very well could stir up conflict down the road.
Yes sufferents...it makes sense for a story telling element but the fact is they already showed that in universe character's CAN SEE the scars....what the fuck?

Imo, correctly predicting something in a Tatsuki Fujimoto manga is pretty impressive
I just want to say that i don't understand what the goal of the second part is, first part had the whole 'kill gun devil' driving the whole plot from the begining, and all the bad guys where trying to get chainsaw hearth (to prevent makimas goal, but at the time there where hint they where working for the gun devil), but in this second part i don't understand the final goal. There are separated goals like the whole wanting revenge against chainsaw, and then there is nostradamus prediction and finally trying to stop denji from becoming chainsaw. Also at this point i don't know who the bad guys are, and what the point of a lot of the arcs are (the chainsaw church arc was to give more power to denji and asa, but in the end did it work? Fami doest say anything related to nostradamus and is just going along with yoru and asa desire to fight chainsaw. So for me that is what has made me think the plot is going slowly, because everything seems pointless because i don't know what the end point of all of this "side quest" happening all over the place is.

And I thought episodes 5 and 7 of X-Men 97 were sad, Chapter 164 of Chainsaw Man is just depressing. Denji is trying to find Nayuta at the remains of his apartment and she tells him that she might be dead. All Asa wants is to fight Chainsaw Man so they can have a normal life. Denji states that whenever he becomes Chainsaw Man, everyone around him turns awful, or worse dead like Makima, Power, Aki, Reze and everyone else he’s known. I like how Denji points out that Asa kicked him in the dick instead of comforting him when he was at his lowest point, (something very similar to when Nightcrawler comforted Rogue after Gambit’s death in X-Men 97). All though I wonder if Denji, Asa and the gang all have Sushi or a possible Denji vs Asa fight in Chapter 165, in two weeks.
I must say, having Chainsaw Man be compared to X-Men of all things is so very jarring.

I can't think of much in common between CSM and XM, let alone the feelings they invoke through their stories, so for one of them to remind somebody of the other is unexpected.

The scars are there they think it’s still Asa. They associate her transformation with being a hybrid so her outward appearance change is no different than Denji when he’s chainsaw I think

I cant wait for barem to return, he has been easily the second best villain behind Makima so far.
His introduction was ominous, his Fan speach was horrifying and scene stealing, and his horrid antics during the chainsaw curse was just disgustingly lovely.
Plus hes based on Vincent Vega from tarantino's Pulp Fiction which is sick.

I love how basic characterization can make sufferents and the CsM community in general start theory crafting. Everyone's thinking of the different plots around fami eating and how it must work into her powers and yadda yadda yadda...it's just basic characterization. This shit is so starved of anything decently written that a character eating in panel makes the entire community theorize.
I agree, the csm fandom is full of weirdos, but I don't think that necessarily mean the writing is bad. The last arc was the worst imo (10 chapters of useless characters sayin silly lines) and I think most of the fans noticed and tried to justify it searching deeper meanings, but that's just nonsense, Fami eating was just a joke and meant to characterize her a lil more, ugh. Oh and they can't fucking read, they forget everything from the previous chapter every single time, how tf is that possible, some of them are grown adults
Its nice to see asa wearing something new rather than her school uniform , also even when denji was poor and in debt whit the yakuza he had pochita whit him but now , house gone , gremling makima gone , the dogos gone , and nyako the last remant of power gone too everything is gone for good now

Guys... If you actually pay attention youll realiza there's still ambiguity regarding Asa's scars...
Denji has his eyes closed after Katana and Yoru kicked him down there and every time Yoru speaks to him in this chapter Denji isnt facing her... So he has never seen her as Yoru.
The time they kissed doesnt count since it was too quickly.
I think Yoshida always knew... Afterall the PS agents mentioned they wanted Yoru to turn him into a weapon which is why Yoshida introduced them to each other.

This chapter had no action in it other than the fact of Denji kinda turning down or ignoring Asa in a way. He wasn’t in the head space to want a fight so I think he said it just for them to search for Nayuta.
Fami is by far one of my favorites in the manga. When Asa asked Fami to say something to get Denji out of his negative mood her answer was _”Maybe he’s hungry.”_ A very Fami thing to say and gave me a good laugh 😂
But why was there a sensitive moment when they shouldn't even have helped him, they want to kill him and now they give him a choice to fight or not?? Like why would katana agree to help instead of just punching him to death until denji was forced to fight?

I have 2 things to say. 1. I don't think sword is really a bad person. In a few panels he looked nervous and unsure about what he was doing. 2. War is a little stupid. Since denji is asa's boyfriend that means she could technically make him a weapon. Hope she realizes that at some point.

The reason why Asa and War devil don’t know who Nayuta is, it’s because Denji ate Makima.

No? They just never met Nayuta, that's all. Horsemen can't be erased completely by denji, he ate yoru and she's still alive, just weakened
No that isn't how the ability works. Chainsaw Man, not denji has to be the one to eat them. The whole purpose behind denji eating Makima, is to bypass her contract with the prime minister.

My theory is Nayuta is with the reincarnated Power hiding somewhere. I’m still hoping Fujimoto introduces back all the Devils unless he just straight up ends the story never getting the chance to see them again. I just want Power back but it won’t be the same Power because she won’t remember anything 😢
I always suspected that Nayuta would have a hand in restoring the new Blood Devil's/Fiend's lost memories and past life as Power. Nayuta has already demonstrated the ability to manipulate someone else's memories (making them forget days worth of time/wipe their memory for a certain amount of time like she did with Asa, delving into someone else's memories and seeing their point of view through their eyes/perspective as she did with Denji while he was asleep) so who's to say Nayuta can't completely restore someone else's locked/suppressed memories of their past life?
Every video this guy posts one after the other sounds more and more like coping. The only way you can still get into this series is by overanalising panels that are not even meant to be that dip. Clearly, the series has drag on way to far for to long.
