Your excellent video just reinforced the conclusion I've come to. A snowblower definitely has it's advantages over a plow blade. Your driveway is much larger than mine. With a deep snow as shown, with a plow-it moves the snow, but you still have to put it someplace; requires double handling. With a snowblower, you reduce or eliminate the second step. The majority of the snow is cleared and moved with the first step. Final clean up can be done with a plow with minimal effort like you did with a backblade. Thanks again, great video!
Thank you. One of my neighbors has the same tractor with a plow. It seems to work good for him but I prefer the blower as well. He has to push the snow quite a distance onto his lawn to make room for future storms. Thanks a lot for watching! Have a great day. 👍
As a tractor and blower user and fan myself. If you can get a cab, it makes a huge difference. I have a JD3320 open cab and after 10 years finally added the cheapest cab I could find. I can't express how much of a difference this made. Of course make sure you have a large enough door for the height. Backyard Maine looks like he wouldn't have that option as the ROPS bar is folded over in order to fit (I assume). I myself had to do some minor modifications to my overhead door to make mine fit, and it just barely does. But worth every moment of trouble to make it fit IMHO.
I used to have TWO John Deere 212 tractors when I lived in NY. I had one with a plow, and one with a blower. The plow was MUCH faster with smaller amounts of snow (4-5" and under). The blower cleared stuff the plow wouldn't have been able to get through. Deepest I ever did with the blower was 37". So, tell your wife you need BOTH a plow AND a blower. LOL
I use the back blade with small storms maybe 3 inches or less and it goes really fast. I wouldn't want to have to take the blower off to use the plow because that's actually a bit of work. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
Love to see that snow blower in action. I have a JD x345 and the first time I used the snow blower I was blown away at the amount of snow and the distance it would throw it. That back blade is really nice too
Thank you! Great machines aren’t they. The blade is a great tool which works perfectly as a combination with the blower. I’ll be at it aging tomorrow morning. Probably have the video up by Sunday. Thanks for watching!
I've got a 60 horse Massey with a 7' blower and my buddy came over with his Kubota the same size as yours with the front blower and because those things are so quick and compact I was quite impressed on how fast I cleaned up around the garage and cars etc. Good video, cheers.
There are times when I would like a bigger tractor but for my needs its probably the perfect size. With the back blade / blower combo it great for snow. Thanks for you comment Bob and thanks for watching.
I have a very similar blower on a Simplicity Sunstar and it performs like yours. IE: it does a fine job as long as you aren't in a hurry. I also have a slightly over driven single stage on a 20hp Simp Sovereign and it is much faster, although maybe not as clean.
As someone who has a 60” Meteor rear PTO snowblower on a sub-compact tractor • Your tractor and front pto snow blower seem to do the job with no issue. I like that you have a rear blade mounted at the same time too • Rear PTO blowers near me are about 1/3 the price of front blowers and make it worth it by allowing it to still have a front implement on at the same time too • Thanks so very much for posting and sharing Backyard Maine- love seeing that snow come out the cute! All the best and God Bless. 🙏❤🇺🇸
I have some friends with the rear PTO driven snowblowers and they sure get the job done. I bought my tractor used with the blower and added the back blade which I think is a great combination for my property. My neighbor has the same tractor with a plow connected to his loader frame and that works well too. Any setup beats the shovel or walk behind snowblower.. Thanks for watch and your thoughtful comments. God Bless..
I have the 1025 with the rear blower and agree it's great to be able to use the bucket when using the blower...it's great and gets the job done however it's a pain in the ass as you have to be turned around looking back at all times when the blower is in use...I live in Nova Scotia Canada on a hill overlooking the ocean and the last ten years or so all we get is wet heavy snow and it'll make the 1025 work for sure...that light powdery snow like in this video is nothing to remove...bought mine new and if I had to do it over again I would have the front blower instead and a cab...live and learn I guess.
Great job! I went back and fourth on what to get and ended up with the plow. It's worked out well for me. I think I am most impressed with how the 1025R moves through the snow. I bought snow chains when I bought my plow and they are still in the box, haven't needed them. Best of luck and keep the great content coming!

Silly question for you... if you were to use the blower and drop the blade at the same time, angle the blade toward your unfinished area, would that kill two birds with one stone? I just have a walk behind Ariens that I use... not enough real estate for a monster like that unfortunately! Great video!
Great question! For some reason the blade on an angle doesn’t direct the snow well unless it’s wet snow. I have tried that with little success. NowI find it faster to just use the blower and not worry about spill over and do a quick cleanup with the blade at the end. Thanks for watching!
Loving your soothing video from SW Illinois, could watch all day. Been using a JD 2210 with blade for years, but man that blower is really moving that powder.

Thanks Bill.. I love the blower blade combo. The setup works really well for me. All the snow is gone here in southern Maine. We could still get another storm but with no snow in the 10 day forecast it doesn't look likely. I think I'm ready for spring though.. Thanks for watching!
I was so happy this year to get to use my Husqvarna snowblower. It's no machine like that but I bought it 3 years ago and hadn't had any snow since here in Maryland. Took care of a couple 6-8" snows we had in January really nicely. Neighbors even got in on it I was so happy to use the thing. That's an awesome setup. We haven't had a snow like yours in 15 years but if we do I think I'll just stay inside! Enjoyed watching.
I used a walk behind snow blower on this driveway for about 18 years. It worked great but I’m getting older and have always wanted a small tractor. as you can see in this video, the "Blizzard of 2022" was pretty much a regular Maine snowstorm. It was the first and really, the only event where we got truly significant snow. After this we had a warmup with springtime temps around 65 degrees. All that snow is history.
You are correct but it was classified a blizzard which doesn’t have anything to do with snow accumulation. Sometimes March can bring big storms though. Fingers crossed 🤞
@MrTsiolkovsky They were calling for up to 28 inches in some areas but we only got about a foot. I guess you got slammed south of us. You're right, snow doesn't slow us down much here does it..
It looks like it done well. We got about 8 inches, but it was on top of about an inch of ice, so traction even with a snowblower and 4WD would require more aggressive tires probably.
The last storm we had was three inches of sleet. I went out the next morning to clear it with the back blade but it turned to concrete overnight. I was barely making tracks with the tractor. I prefer snow to sleet or freezing rain. Thanks for watching!
@@BackyardMaine if I know that sleet or ice is coming I'll spend the extra 50 to 100 bucks with rock salt or calcium chloride as a pretreatment. Yup it's coming my friend. I have everything ready to go as well. I just put in my driveway markers yesterday. Looks like some snow in the forecast for next week. Thanks for dropping by.
She was fine... The wind was blowing 40mph early and the driveway would have filled right back in with snow. She's a Mainer, she walks through the snow for fun.. 😎
Dude... Your wife signed off on a 1025r with blower and back-blade... And you didn't clear the driveway for her to get back into the house without hiking through the snow when she got home from work!? hahahahaha. I'm really not sure if I should be explaining to you what you did wrong or asking you to teach me what I am doing wrong. hahahahahahahhahahah
She was fine. Not mad at all. I usually have it all clear but it was below zero and really windy early. The driveway would have filled right back in quickly. I told her to plow through the bank and leave it. 🤣😂
@@BackyardMaine I guess that's Maine living. ;-) You've got a really nice tractor setup there and from the sounds of it and even better wife setup. You're doing well. So refreshing to see an American resort to 5 mins with a shovel where appropriate, rather then a bungee towrope, wheel spin and unnecessary damage. Good job.
It's amazing how a heavy snowfall ☃ can have a Beautiful Picturesque sight :39 and at the same time be a great hassle for simply needing to park the car 🚙 up near your home 🏡 ☺.
I call it styrofoam snow which requires grip wax frequently under my xc skis .This kind of snow is very abrasive and wears out the grip wax very quickly.
I bought the tractor used with the turf tires and I thought I may need to change them for moving snow without getting stuck. I was wrong they are great in the snow. My neighbor has the same tractor with R4 tires and he need to use chains to not get stuck. I like the look of the R4s better but the turf tires are more practical.
Nice setup. need something like what you have a huge driveway. How is it with bigger snows more then 2 feet. I guess you have to control by slowing up.
Exactly! My driveway slopes so it clears off quickly when the sun comes out as long as some blacktop is showing. Plus it’s fun running the blade. Thanks for watching! Have a great day.
Thank you.. I like the Kubota tractors as well but I found a deal on this one and I've been very happy with it so far. The wind was blowing early so I decided to wait. lol She was fine and it added some nice drama to the video.
I won't lie, I grew up in Texas and moved back to Wisconsin with my parents and blowing off the driveway is oddly satisfying/pleasing. I think it's the clean cut "walls" that appease me. We have a (I believe) 24" Ariens.
You got that right! A walk behind works great though. I used one for 18 years but now that I'm getting old the tractor is nice to have.. Thanks for watching!

Yes a cab would be nice for sure. I love the tractor as well... It's the perfect size for my needs. Thanks for watching. I'll have another video out tomorrow. 👍
I have had good luck in deeper snows running the transmission on the low side that way I don’t go to fast and push a lot of snow like you showed yourself doing and said you need to slow down. We got a cab for ours and that is so nice to keep the wind off because the wind is always seems to change while your blowing snow as you know
I do run it in low range but I was going to fast for sure. I was running three camera and had a stuck car so I guess my mind was on other things. Yes a cab would be awesome. Thanks for watching!

I put a snowblower throat on the top of the snow bower, from Deck Dolly, and saw someone who had put side extensions on each side to eliminate the overflow, put lights on drift breakers. Best improvements to the blower, no more small drifts from the side, no snow going over the top and no more running into steps/walls.
I'm very thankful for everything I have but I started out poor and worked for everything I have today. When I was a kid I would shovel our driveway and then help the neighbors who would give me a dollar or two.
Bah my 1970s simplicity 24" with a 5hp briggs has tackled snow 3 timea that depth and drifts that were more than twice as high as the hopper. This is childs play.
I used a walk behind snow blower for 22 years before I bought this. I think I know why you left this negative comment but I'll be nice and not say it in the comments.

I suppose this would depend on the wife?🤔😆🤦♂️🤣
Thanks for the tips!
@@resqdiver1 🤣😂
studded winter tires for the ice
I see UA-cam recommended this to me as a reminder of what is soon to come. Just got my winter hats and gloves out this week. Greetings fellow Mainer!
Yup it's coming my friend. I have everything ready to go as well. I just put in my driveway markers yesterday. Looks like some snow in the forecast for next week. Thanks for dropping by.
I'm sure she was thrilled to have to walk down the driveway after working all night, seems like that could have been done before she got home.
She was fine... The wind was blowing 40mph early and the driveway would have filled right back in with snow. She's a Mainer, she walks through the snow for fun.. 😎
I dont believe a word
Too worried about getting a video rather than getting it done. Thumbs down.
@@tjewett1967 o shut up...
Maybe she gets off work at 2 AM and hubby was in bed sleeping before the Joe Biden snow storm hit.
Snow blowers and chainsaws are just so much fun. More so than other motorized equipment, in my honest opinion.
I have to agree.
I've got a 2025r with a pusher on the loader arms that I use for snow in upstate NY.
Our snow loads have been getting lighter every year it seems but we still occasionally get a good storm. Have been thinking about a 3 point blower but I'm still just thinking at this stage.
Anyway - enjoy the vids. Thanks.
you need to buy her a Subaru she would have driven up to the house no problem !!!!!!
@@joewhite9183 We actually like the Escape.
Thanks for the comments Frank and thanks for watching! Yup the wife setup is working quite well.😂
Nice setup. She did well! All you need now is a cab for it. I have one on my X740 and makes doing the job that much better. Warm n dry inside the cab 👍🏻
Very nice! I would love to have a cab but then it wouldn't fit under the garage door out back. So a cab means a building..
If I ever move up north, this unit would be a must!
It sure make dealing with snow a lot easier. And it's fun to drive..😎 Thanks for watching Tricia.
I work at a hotel in Minnesota, and I am in charge of keeping the exterior spaces (sidewalks, and parking lots) safe... I WISH I had the 1025r.... and the snow blower attachment.. and the rear plow.
I enjoyed watching you clear your property... I'm sharing your video with my GM 🙂
It's been a great machine so far. I use it all year for other chores around the property as well. I hope you buys one..
My two year old loved this video!
So refreshing to see an American resort to 5 mins with a shovel where appropriate, rather then a bungee towrope, wheel spin and unnecessary damage. Good job.
I'm well acquainted with the shovel. Years ago I did the whole driveway with one..
What a man! Bet you got something extra special that night.
Nice job.
Thanks for the visit
The blinken lights are cool.
Thanks for watching 👍
I love that little John Deer lol a perfeck machine for snow clearing!😉😉
It's amazing how a heavy snowfall ☃ can have a Beautiful Picturesque sight :39 and at the same time be a great hassle for simply needing to park the car 🚙 up near your home 🏡 ☺.
Whata Beautiful Video! You should be proud of your property!
Thank you!!
I got the craftsman PGT9000 and takes me about an hour to do my 2 acre property, driveway and dog trails. Sure can throw snow!
Hey,
real nice work...
Having the right equipment for the job makes all the difference.
I love the setup
Thanks for sharing
God bless
You bet.. Thank you and god bless you as well..
So cool to see someone using a blower on a 1025 vs the loader for snow removal.
Thanks. I don’t think a loaders are the best tool for snow removal. Thanks for watching!
I love the sound of compacting snow when it's real cold out. It’s what I call squeaky snow.
I call it styrofoam snow which requires grip wax frequently under my xc skis .This kind of snow is very abrasive and wears out the grip wax very quickly.
the little back plough is adorable
Works great for cleanup.
That’s a real sweet setup
Thank you! I love it..
That's the kind of setup I need living here in Michigan..
It works great for us here in Maine.
Impressive on all counts
I got a chuckle when you opened the door, and the seat is almost smashed into the steering column. Yep, that's the wife's car alright ! haha
That is an impressive John Deere and blower, very nice. I am glad you keep it indoors and take care of it, it deserves it.
Thanks Harry! It works great for the snow we get here in Maine. Thanks for watching! 👍
It does well even with those turf tires. Nice to see because they are so much easier on the grass.
That thing is a beast. I’m in Sabattus. What a nice tractor.
Thank you! It's the perfect size for what I need. We have some friends up your way in Bowdoin.. Thanks for watching!
This video should be called
“The Happy Man”
Sure beats the way I moved snow for most of my life.. lol
All these extremely blessed rich people and their wonderful toys.
I started out with nothing and worked my butt off for 4 decades to get what I have. I never got anything for free.
You have the perfect set up w/ the blower and the blade together. You can handle wet snow, dry snow, deep snow, etc.
Thank you. It does work great for snow removal. Thanks for watching! 👍
Nice setup. need something like what you have a huge driveway. How is it with bigger snows more then 2 feet. I guess you have to control by slowing up.
@@pdet1951 The setup does work well for deep snow but as you mentioned I have to slow down. Thanks for watching!
Nice job! You are like me, get it down to the blacktop and let the sun work it’s magic!
Exactly! My driveway slopes so it clears off quickly when the sun comes out as long as some blacktop is showing. Plus it’s fun running the blade. Thanks for watching! Have a great day.
I'm a Kubota guy, but that is the best small JD with a blower video I've seen. Good setup! Next time, clear the drive before wifey gets home, LOL!
Thank you.. I like the Kubota tractors as well but I found a deal on this one and I've been very happy with it so far. The wind was blowing early so I decided to wait. lol She was fine and it added some nice drama to the video.
Love that tractor set up.
I won't lie, I grew up in Texas and moved back to Wisconsin with my parents and blowing off the driveway is oddly satisfying/pleasing. I think it's the clean cut "walls" that appease me. We have a (I believe) 24" Ariens.
I had a 28" Ariens for 18 years. They work well and mine always started on the first pull. Thanks for watching.
I was a kid in Northern pa in 1978 when we had a REAL blizzard. 5 Feet in one night. Look it up. That's a blizzard.
I don't need to look it up. We got about 4 feet in souther VT. I can remember the year but 78 sound about right..
Good video beats a walk behind snow blower
You got that right! A walk behind works great though. I used one for 18 years but now that I'm getting old the tractor is nice to have.. Thanks for watching!
I have been to Maine years ago during the winter and that doesn't appear to be too bad. I have relatives that have snow blades on their pickup trucks that plow their way to work. (It is a very nice place to visit in summer. I am glad I don't live there in the winter.) Great video!
Thanks for sharing! I love living here in Maine but the winters are a bit too long... Great place to raise kids and enjoy the outdoors..
Looks awesome, wait until you get a cab on there. The 1025 is an awesome machine.
Yes a cab would be nice for sure. I love the tractor as well... It's the perfect size for my needs. Thanks for watching. I'll have another video out tomorrow. 👍
Nice tractor man! That snowblower attachment is awesome!
Thank you. I love it. I did it the hard way for many years and now I'm spoiled.. Thanks for watching.
That scraper blade does the trick.
It's a huge help.
great video...................
Thank you and thanks for watching!
I live in MA and have 2320 with the 54" blower, Greatest investment I made for the tractor. Made short work from the blizzard.
I feel the same way Alan. Sure makes living in the north east a lot easier. Thanks for watching!
Nice to be able to get the toys you want
Hard work paid off.
I Love this stuff. I have a John Deere also and would love to purchase this additional equipment, I live in East Central Indiana and sometimes we get Snow and most times not. I have lived with using a Toro Snow Blower that works great. But Man, I would love to get this Blower and Blade. You can keep the Snow. I'm 68 now and hate the Cold anymore.
I’m getting older too and with each passing year I like the cold a little less. But I do love living in Maine. Thanks for watching
won't be long and we will have some for this season. I just got a new set up for my tractor for snow blowing, can't wait to try it out. I live in southern Maine.
I live in southern Maine as well. Yes, it won't be long. Sound like we're both ready though.
@@BackyardMaineI am ready, we could get tons or hardly any, but i have several options to clean it up as I own the road I live on an we maintain it as well as 6 driveways'. I live in Kennebunk and have family roots here going back 200+ years.
@@shanesmaineshop I'm right up the road in Buxton. I've been here for about 30 years but I'm originally from southern VT.
@@BackyardMaine nice, Well lets hope we can get out and enjoy the snow this year.
so entertaining to watch! good job

Now all you need is a heated cab🙂
That would be great but it wouldn't fit under the garage door..
Glad the wife made it home

Nice video
Thank you Chris! She's a nurse so she has to go no matter what. Yes 207 strong for sure.. Thanks for watching!
Hello from Northern Virginia, we were thing about installing a snowblower on our 1025r. Just subscribed, we are a retired couple just having fun with Firewood Take Care 🚜👍🏼🪵🇺🇸
I’m not sure how much snow you get there but the blower and back blade works perfect for the winters we get here in Maine. Thanks for subscribing. I hope to bring you lots of content. I appreciate every subscriber. 👍
I really enjoyed this video...the 1025r has plenty of power for homeowner stuff it appears.
Thank you so much! Yes the tractor is the perfect size for our property and has plenty of power. We supposed to get a foot of snow tonight through tomorrow so I'll have another video out in a few days. Thanks for watching!
Glad you had your flashing lights on, on your own driveway 😂
Always!😂
I put a snowblower throat on the top of the snow bower, from Deck Dolly, and saw someone who had put side extensions on each side to eliminate the overflow, put lights on drift breakers. Best improvements to the blower, no more small drifts from the side, no snow going over the top and no more running into steps/walls.
Nice demonstration of nice equipment. I guess that gear is almost a must for Maine winters with sizeable real estate.
You got that right but I did it the hard way for many years. Thanks for watching! 👍
Love the Hans Zimmer background🤟
Way to conquer that snow.
Good thing you you got a rider lawnmowers with a snow blower on for a big job like a snow storm in Maine
The set setup works great for me. Thank you for watching! Have a great day. ✌️👍
Gotta get the blower for our tractor. Nice!
They do work really well.
I watch again, relax video. Hello from estonia🤗
Hello from Maine.. I'm glad you enjoyed the video..
I'm in Maine too! Glad I found your channel.
Thanks for stopping by. I’m in Buxton what about you? Thanks for watching!
Makes ya look forward to snow.
Anyone who lives in a home like that can certainly afford a machine like that.
Sounds like your poor 😂
I'm very thankful for everything I have but I started out poor and worked for everything I have today. When I was a kid I would shovel our driveway and then help the neighbors who would give me a dollar or two.
OMG - took me less than a minute to subscribe - this video was done so well. Awesome
Thank you.
Sweet! What a time saver. Looks like you could use a cab to make life easier.
Thank you! Yes a cab would be nice but then it won’t fit under the garage door. Someday though. Thanks for watching!
Blowers are the only way to go…the great snow disappearing machine
I agree. It may take longer but its clean.
That music is so epic! I expect batman to pull up any second :) Good work Sir.
You and me both! lol... Thanks for watching my friend..
Nice combination snowblower and blade. Subscribed!
Awesome, thank you!
Hi there ! 🙂 Just came across your video this morning ! So glad I did. A really great one, I enjoyed every bit of it. I appreciate all the camera angles - yeah that takes time to set up, when you really just want to keep going, so thanks ! The angles really add to the whole experience ! I thought I was there with ya. Glad you got your wife's car cleared out. I know it was fun to do ! haha. These tractors turn work into pure fun ! That's it for now !
Thank You!! I'm glad that you enjoyed the video. It is always a challenge to figure out what angles work best and then to optimize during the edit. I'm new to this and am alway learning... usually from my mistakes. Yes, seat time in the tractor is always fun even when it's cold. Thanks for dropping by and for your kind comment! (John)
@@BackyardMaine 😊
This guy is having way too much fun
I did it the hard way for many years now I actually enjoy moving snow. ❄🚜 Thanks for watching 👍
12 " was childs play compared to what we received during the blizzard Christmas Eve and day here in Western New York. Still love the John Deere
I know you guys are getting pounded this year.. We have nothing more than a dusting this year.
@@BackyardMaine I live in Niagara county not far from Lake Ontario, we only received about 3-4 feet during the Christmas blizzard, I had 7-8 foot deep drifts. Buffalo and the Lake Erie shoreline really received the brunt of it. Sady 42 people died as a result. Back in early December, areas just south of Buffalo received almost 7 feet over just a couple of days. We only received about 6 inches that time. Luckily the weather warmed up and the snow melted fairly quickly. Wacky weather . I love Maine - spent my honeymoon on mount Desert Island
@@jk3dad Wow that's a lot of snow. The biggest storm I can remember was the blizzard of 1978 (i think). I few years ago we had a 3 foot storm with 6 foot drifts. This year almost nothing.
wow That setup is a Bad Ass beast!
Thank you. I love it...
Easy peasy when you got the right machines :-)
I did it the hard way for years but now it's a pleasure.
Beautiful piece of property.👍👍🇨🇦
Thank you my friend. We love it here in Maine although the winters can be long.
