Just look up footage of the band's performances of Dazed and Confused starting from the 1975 tour alone. You'll see Jimmy covered in haze from fog machines while laser pyramids form around him during his bow solo. In No Quarter, the fog machines worked so hard that it was virtually impossible to see the band onstage. They also had fireworks rigged to blow up during several songs, such as in Black Dog. They jammed for several hours with encores night after night, town after town. This video demonstrates a band that competes as well as collaborates with itself. A concept very few seem to fathom when it comes to dissecting what makes a group of musicans top players.
JPG is playing the bass notes with his feet, at the same time. Man's a machine. And Bonham, well, what can you say, absolute monster. His left hand is so strong.
They were most definitely in their Prime. I've seen some live versions they were very disappointing especially when it came to page. As much as I hate to say that.
One of the many great things about this is that you hear the driving bass line throughout the whole song, and then realize that no one is even playing bass guitar. JPJ is a genius
Zep's ability to tap into soul and funk always set them apart from so many other heavy bands of their era, or bands that followed. I hear this in some other bands (Pink Floyd, Bad Co, Fleetwood Mac, Prince, Talking Heads, Built to Spill, White Stripes, Black Keys, etc.), but Led Zeppelin's ability to go off the rails - all four of them - and into scat singing, pyschedelia, and a pounding volcanic fury is breathtaking because they never lose sight of the journey we're on, nor the end they lead us to.
Beautifully put! The four of them were so musically gifted, and so in tune with each other, that even when they were flying all over the place they all knew where they would land together. BRILLIANT!
Everytime I think that Led Zeppelin can't blow me away anymore than they already do, I discover something magnificent like this... and I'm BLOWN AWAY!!!
Jimmy, Jonesy and Bonzo are as busy as three musicians can be (especially during the instrumental sections) yet they still keep it all together. This is as good as it gets.
Phenominal. Bonham gave Page that kick in the ass that inspires him on the fly into another thousand note flurry. There's a reason Page was very good before Zeppelin and good after, but during Zeppelin was untouchable. The reason was John Bonham.
the rime of the ancient mariner 7474 e tu chi sei il “messia”?Se io dico semplicemente che i Led Zeppelin sono i numero 1 tu devi fare ironia perché questa frase la dicono magari milioni di persone ?Uno esprime ciò che si sente .
Damn..............just.............DAMN! Best rock band EVER!!!! Bonzo was a monster, JPJ was phenomenal, RP's voice was without peer, and Jimmy Page well......he was the master, no one can touch him.......EVER!
This is truly supernatural, Bonzo is playing with a lot of swing and swagger, taking the band on an epic journey. Pagey responds with flair and fire. Fuckin amazing! Best band to walk the earth
From around the 7:00 mark to about 8:30 where the band is trying to find the end of the song, they know each other so well and just shifted through a "gallows pole" beat to the ending with such ease. That to myself personally, is as good as heaven.
I know what you mean. When you're a jam band like this it takes a lot of telepathic skills to venture off into unknown territory and try to bring it back on point. Everyone in the band needs to know each other musically and watch each other for cues etc. Too much music these days is too clinical and they don't let each other go off into neverland and be good enough and confident enough to know when to take cues and know when to come back. For me that's where some of the magic of music happens. You can pull it off and sometimes not but at least you're giving it a go and Dave Grohl talks about some of Zep's bootlegs he has where they just go off to who knows where and somehow they have to rein it in and come back to the song structure. It's not something that's done much anymore cuz everything has to be some kind of clinical professionalism but the magic gets lost for me. There's something magical for me to see a band work together, it's otherworldly.
PVK Oz - I love when Dave starts talking about Zep.. the couple times when asked who his fave guitarist is.. he doesn’t even hesitate - Jimmy Page! I loved he got both Jimmy & Jonesy to play 2 songs with them back in ‘07... Dave I thought was gonna cry when announcing them out! He & Taylor were bouncing with joy.. was so awesome to watch ❣️🌟

Pink Floyd are a great genre band, maybe the very best "genre" band of all time.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😩NOT😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@JimmyPlato1 all preference brothers, but the only band I’d accept being in the same boat as zep is the Beatles and perhaps pink Floyd. Led zeppelin are the kings
I get exhausted just watching Page at work. What an absolute beast.
College kids today still love ZEPPELIN, a true testament to their enduring greatness!
Yessir! College junior and zeppelin is at worst a top 3 band for me!
They no nothing they are saying
best bass/keyboards, best lead guitarist, best drummer, best vocals all in one band
I know right? It's not even fair for other bands... Zeppelin were GOD tier
Freddie needs the car back by Sunday
Best bass the ox best guitarist Hendrix best drummer Keith moon best vocalist Paul Rodgers
Nope, best drummer still Bonham. The rest maybe not the best. But where you have this combination of such talented musicians in one band?
Dio and Rainbow.
They never play the same song twice the same way. That’s what I love about them. True artists. JB RIP.
Led Zeppelin at their finest!!!!
Bonzo’s way of drumming is from another planet. That’s way even the aliens leave him alone.
Bonham must have been happy , playing 10 or so nights 'tour' in London instead of going abroad which he hated.
👊👊👊🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Instincts from beyond... those fills are from another world.
The real deal
“Loosely tight” is their own phrase for how they play live. It’s a formula nobody seems to have been able to figure out but them.
I swear the live versions all seem to hit you in the face, and it just doesn't stop!!
It's so cool. You get the sense that they could just jam for an hour if they wanted! Love it. Jimmy is the coolest person ever!
you mean hours right
@@angelwilliams413 You're right. I find most other live shows boring compared to this.
Best live version of this song ever
They were most definitely in their Prime. I've seen some live versions they were very disappointing especially when it came to page. As much as I hate to say that.
The one from the night before is also excellent. Also check out the version from Montreal '75, the solo is one of my favorites!
Besst Mode x4.
Bonham's Snare is unmistakable.
His snare sound has always given me chills.
Alex Van Halen's too.
With either of those guys you don't have to hear anything else to know exactly who it is.
speaking of van halens, i think I spied some one hand tapping there in the first part of the breakdown. jimmy page is probably christ
Was thinking the exact same thing!!
The energy led zeppelin give me from this song is unreal !!!!
Robert was particularly aggressive on this one. Love it!
One of the many great things about this is that you hear the driving bass line throughout the whole song, and then realize that no one is even playing bass guitar. JPJ is a genius
Its a bass synth you can play with your feet. :D And yeah JPJ is amazing.
Y que me dicen de Robert...Que estilazo!!Inimitable😮.Unos genios.
that sound ur hearing is the greatest band of all time trampling all bands underfoot
All without any bass since JPJ was on keys for this one.

BRILLIANT!
Can you write my eulogy? Just make something up...I trust you. Thanks! 🤣
@@akirahs87 No way - you're obviously such a sweetheart for saying this I'm not willing to imagine this earth without you!
@@peteralbert1485 you never know what's around the corner, and no one gets out of this life alive. Come find me on social media.
Nothing like this anymore
No one wore a guitar like Jimmy ❤
Everytime I think that Led Zeppelin can't blow me away anymore than they already do, I discover something magnificent like this... and I'm BLOWN AWAY!!!
OH wow me too no I am very serious about that statement
Amazing how all four would improvise together. The greatest jam band in heavy rock!
I love how Page and Bonham are so in tune with each other!!!

ma va? quando l hai scoperto!? ...:D
the rime of the ancient mariner 7474 e tu chi sei il “messia”?Se io dico semplicemente che i Led Zeppelin sono i numero 1 tu devi fare ironia perché questa frase la dicono magari milioni di persone ?Uno esprime ciò che si sente .
Greatest rock band of the world.
Best band in the stratosphere!
Damn..............just.............DAMN! Best rock band EVER!!!! Bonzo was a monster, JPJ was phenomenal, RP's voice was without peer, and Jimmy Page well......he was the master, no one can touch him.......EVER!
They look like gods on stage, love them
They are
Consider myself VERY LUCKY to have seen them live in 1977. I saw absolute rock gods. How many can say THAT?
Fuck yeah!
If you get the chance go see uncle acid live mate. 🧐
Saw Zep in June ‘77 at Madison Sq. Garden in NY: still my favorite concert!!!
I am openly jealous because obviously that's the presence tour.. just a phenomenal album
Me too saw them live 1973 Newcastle City Hall, me and my mates were awestuck for 2 hours.
I am 78 and this still blows me away. They are so tight . The absolute genius beasts of rock.
This is truly supernatural, Bonzo is playing with a lot of swing and swagger, taking the band on an epic journey. Pagey responds with flair and fire. Fuckin amazing! Best band to walk the earth
Best band in the stratosphere!
Perfectly said I agree 1000%👍
From around the 7:00 mark to about 8:30 where the band is trying to find the end of the song, they know each other so well and just shifted through a "gallows pole" beat to the ending with such ease. That to myself personally, is as good as heaven.
Its like they transported into a different dymension and jelled into one unit lol
Really wish Page would remaster and release Earls Court concert as part of their 50 year anniversary celebration. They were truly at the apex of their career.
Philip Keck ... I’m hoping for the very same thing too 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Agreed - Hey Jimmy Page Remaster this show on CD/DVD! - Please, Sir!
APEX FUCKING PREDATORS
Their best rendition of "In my time of dying" may 24 1975!!!!
Best gig I ever saw, and I've seen most of the big names , I also saw Zep before and after and I think this may have been the best gig in history.
Nothing will ever come close to these boys on stage.
Elvis
@@terrygarcia897 Elvis liked these guys too. He once invited them to Graceland, where they all watched a movie in his private theater. When parting ways, Elvis gave them a diamond studded wrist watch. Elvis was a big influence on LZ, musically speaking. They had a copious amount of respect for him.
theyre playing this song at lightning speed and its still almost 9 minutes long!
For some reason I love that they sped up the tempo like this. These dudes knew how to put on a performance... damn.
They SPED UP EVEN MORE AFTER THE 5 MINUTE MARK!!!!
Firing on all cylinders... Nitro!
As well as slowed it down at times, too!
Zeppelin were the biggest band in the world, even before anyone had ever heard of them.
My favorite live version of this song.
LED ZEPPELIN RULES!!!
🙌😄
Ye mine too
There were many great bands but this here folks is the GREATEST!!!
Jimmy is a fuckin wizard! Greatest guitar player I’ve ever seen!!
His tuning is just a tad flat here though.
And gorgeous then and now.
@@1sttvbn LOL. That's your takeaway from this video. Sounded like shit huh? No energy, no groove. LOLOL Pathetic,

Page is like “ why not play the heartbreaker solo in the middle of it”
I mean who would tell him to stop
page is like "why not play the heartbreaker solo in the middle of every other song" he always quotes heartbreaker in his solos
heroin is mean that way
Every song, every show theywere improvising to one degree or another.
I didn't hear Heartbreaker. I heard Gallows Pole lyrics right around 7:20 until about 7:40. Ecstacy for me, since these are two of my favorites. Wow.
Holy shit! The energy is sick! My favourite Zeppelin track!
These guys were so young yet had an unbelievable knowledge and understanding of American blues, soul music and other genres. They were huge fans of a wide variety of music. Obviously all prodigies as well on their respective instruments. Bottom line some people just operate on a higher level....they just do......these guys most definitely did!!!!
It's like Plant is a music tv show host and presents three gods battling each other
John Paul Jones....the stick that stirs the drink that is Led Zeppelin....
I love this 😂
As much as we we're lucky enough to be gifted some mighty great bassist Jonesy was the total package. Session player before zep, producer, arranger, songwriter, multi instrumentalist, and part of the best rhythm section ever! Wont see anything like him again. Just look at his contemporaries, Entwhistle,Jack Bruce,Roger Glover,Geezer Butler,John Mcvie, James Jamerson...
@Chris Porter Yes I too love this analogy. Well stirred!(put)
Their best album! Led Zeppelin: the GOAT of all the rockbands! 🤛🤜
Perfection. Always have and always will be my favorite band
