It’s been said that this is Robert’s favorite instrumental/piano concerto by Mr. Jones. I can remember hearing this so many years ago and thinking: “this guy is playing a piano concerto in the middle of a rock concert! What balls!” It seems John Paul was capable of just about anything. Without his his immense contributions, the airship likely would NOT have reached its famed cruising altitude.
It's brilliant, when Jonesy & his musical partner (Bonzo), come together @ 10.00, then Jimmy comes in. Real jazzy/rock fuse. A true masterpiece. Every one of them consummate musicians. Not forgetting Robert with his vocal skills when the boys have their fun. Perfect.
@@pierrevillechenoux7341 John Paul is an extremely humble man and is the only multi instrumentalist in this band. He was the one who composed this masterpiece.
All 5 verions of No quarter from the EC run are amazing . This one along with the 23rd and 25th are fantastic but my favorite is May 18th with May 17th a close second. This 2 versions are very unique . They have a vibe a feel and a mood to them never heard on any prior version or on any versiom after . The 17th seems like the trial run for that type of No Quarter and the 18th was the perfected version but they never played it like that again .. No Quarter was their most consistent song from 73 onwards in terms of performance quality. 77 and 79 had great versions as well.
At 9:47 is proof that Led Zeppelin could not continue on without John. The way they meshed together Flowed without disturbing the flow JPJ was in cannot be replicated!
How a version of No Quarter didn't make it onto the Zep DVD still blows my mind . They have at a minimum of 7 high quality live versions on Film/video and multi track audio tapes for all 7. They have 3 from New York 73. At least 2 from Earls Court May 24th and 25th as well as both versions from Knebworth 79 which are both fantastic even the one from the August 11th. Its one of the bright spots from that show . They may even have video and multi track audio for the first 3 Earls Court Shows which would give them as many as 10 versions on video and Pro recorded audio. Page himself said in an interview there is a version of No Quarter from Earls Court he described as being exceptional . He didn't say exaclty which one though .
Yeah, the two of them just jamming was so chill and groovy, you want it to go on like that for longer. Sometimes Page's arrivals were welcome, other times it felt like he wanted to remind everyone who the LZ "leader" was.
Jimmys tone on the Solo was fantastic very woody and warm . Creamy and Smooth on the low strings with that dry somewhat dirty but mostly clean tone and the treble stringg have just the right amount of bite and cut without beeing to harsh or piercing. This wasnt always the case when Page Played this live after 73 . On many 75 versions the guitar tone is too clean and lacks saturation . His tone is often thin way to dry brittle and harsh and the bass strings often very thin and far too nasal but he sounds great . Not quite as good as his 1973 tone for this song but much better than the 1975 North American tour
I love No Quarter but cannot stand JPJ's keyboard ramblings. In fact, I find it infuriating. This is not his song!!! But he thinks it is. This is as passionate as the drum solo in Moby Dick .
Def is his song, ever see song remains the same? Page has dazed and confused, bonham has moby dick and Jones has no quarter, it's a platform for them to be creative and do whatever they want, u ever watch song remains the same?
I hate ignorant newbie fake Zeppelin fans who are also arrogant even as they example just how ignorant they really are...smh... John Paul Jones had the biggest part in the composition of this song as a matter of fact it was quite different when he started working on it in 1972 and it wasn't until 1973 that it took the shape that we know and love.
John Paul Jones is living proof that Led Zeppelin was the best Rock and Roll band ever.

John Paul Jones is the glue that holds every Zeppelin song together.
Yes, I’m fully aware.
Magnificent!! Nobody better in the history of music. Master musicians! JPJ plays bass with his feet when on keyboards!
JPJ proves why Led Zeppelin is the best band ever. Who else has a guy like him their band!
JPJ best solo ever.
And THAT is why I dedicated my entire right forearm to the symbols of the four greatest rock and rollers this world has seen.
Steveo3420 I saw a bloke in my local post office with those symbols tattooed on his arm last week!
They’re on my wrists
lol not a bad tattoo
Right leg for me...with the lyric..."as we wind on down the road"...in the same font as the album lyrics for Stairway
Got em across my shoulders 🤘🏿
Greatest band ever! Greatest song ever!😮❤❤❤😊
A very civilize not just the hardest or the loudest rock band in history
John Paul Jones on the Piano here Classic /Jazz / Gospel/ Blues and the Rocks it out. Awesome Performance.
The man is a genius.
JPJ rules Bonzo kills
Great version! JPJ is killing it!
For me this is their signature live song wherever, whenever played
Simply the best-forever!
24th May 1975... exactly 11 years before of my birth...LZ music transcends time, generations and cultures ❤️
A virtuoso performance on a keyboard plus a keyboard bass with platform shoes.
Legend.
OMG the combo at 16:00 to 18:00 is phenomenal!! O-mic even WOW!!

Lyrics - No Quarter - Led Zeppelin - - - Close the door, put out the light - No, they won't be home tonight - The snow falls hard and don't you know? - The winds of Thor are blowing cold - They're wearing steel that's bright and true - They carry news that must get through, oh - They choose the path where no-one goes - They hold no quarter - They hold no quarter, oh - Walking side-by-side with death - The devil mocks their every step, ooh - The snow drives back the foot that's slow - The dogs of doom are howling more - They carry news that must get through - To build a dream for me and you, oh, oh, oh - They choose the path where no one goes - They hold no quarter - They ask no quarter - They hold no quarter - They ask no quarter - Yeah - Without quarter, quarter, yeah (without quarter) - Without quarter, quarter, quarter - Taking no quarter - Oh, oh, oh (hear the dogs of doom) (no, never quarter) - I hear the dogs of doom are howling more - - - - Songwriters: John Paul Jones / Jimmy Page / Robert Plant - - - - No Quarter lyrics © Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC, Warner Chappell Music, In
Love the way JPJ’S and Page tease one another from 16.20.
These guys are pretty good.
Yeah, we might have to get them back for another audition...
@@colonelflagg9669 i dunno, that jommy paige looks a bit odd
Jimmy Page is God
Jpj Is God..
The four are Gods
I find him rather obnoxious to JPJ on this one.

Bonzo comes in on point at 9.45 but Page needs to reduce the volume as he completely overtakes John and Bonham.

Esta Chingon!!!

Is the 1972 solo for me
Did Page break Jonesy's concentration @ 11:26. Pretty funny...
Yes lol...you noticed that too?
15:52 ... Kirk Hammett ? 2019 anyone ?
2020.....
Kirk Hammett? lulz
High magic is the result of do'ers, not don'ters.
typical "PLANT on coke" intro... Always a Great tune Live, but the '77 versions are the best LIVE moments in Rock history. (IMHO)
From 9:01 things get crazyyyyyy
