Hello Phil, I enjoy you videos as usual! Hang in there! Christmas time is tough for me I'm 5 years older than you, my 2 cats are my family! and staying at friends. Got too stay Positive! From Ray Spring Hill, FL
Hi Phil.. It was sad to see you feeling so down in your recent vlog... I sincerely hope that you are feeling more positive about things now and that 2020 brings you much health, wealth and happiness....🍷🍷
Thanks Phil that was a lovely section of canal in glorious weather. I do hope you are ok, it's s funny old world, I'm sure you get a bit lonely especially in winter when the waterways are quiet, but I'm sure there are loads of folk on here who look upon you as a friend even though we've never met in person. Take care. Alan.
Thanks Phil. A perfect blend of scenery and chit chat! It's good to have the rear facing camera shots to add interest. Love the quintessential summer feeling with the golden hay baled in passing fields.
Thank you for your choice of views. I really like seeing an uncluttered view of the canal. I don't need interminable selfies of the person at the helm. I also love your quiet commentary, lots of information and not a lot of chatter. This time of year is not good for me too. I only realized in the last few years how many of us feel down at this time of year. My two favorites sayings to keep me going are "keep calm and carry on" and "don't let the turkeys get you down". We have to stay strong and seek out help as we need it, there are lots of people who want to help. It is really amazing how good most people are.
Nice video. We like seeing the parts of the canals that a lot of other narrowboater's would skip. Thank you for putting out very good and interesting vlogs. We are Americans and live in the states but really enjoy watching this lifestyle.
Another very enjoyable episode - thanks! I'm a leisure boater with my Norman 23 GRP cruiser, and family commitments mean I can't get out on the boat as often as I would like. However, watching your videos and listening to your commentaries is almost as good as actual cruising and gives me a regular "fix".
good to see your next vlog from sunny July in wet and windy December ! Hope all is well with you, I know many followers are hoping the same. Best wishes.
just viewed your vlog on being alone which i enjoyed so now viewed this videoi. Very impressed and really enjoyed it. I watch a number of narowboaters video's and find them very relaxing. I too am on my own after 53 years of marriage. my lady is in a care home for Dementia.still knows who I am and I have lots of family. I have lived here for 53 years and now on my own I get great comfort from video's like yours. also i make my own video's for youtube. This one and one about trains. I sure am impressed with your presentations and I do love the canals but there is no way could I do what you are doing. I'm 82 and could not even open a lock gate. lol, You obviously need company and I hope that one day you will find someone to keep you company. Best wishes for the future and stay in good health..
Lovely time thank you so much.I do like the tie dye..😊 Still wear a few frocks that are tie dye..I'm an original flower child from California early 60s..😊 your boys are beautiful..I do love animals and all nature..looks like you are much the same.. Thanks again.😊
We passed through Willeymoor in the other direction just a few days before (July 16th) and experienced exactly what you told would happen. After leaving the lock, the wash shoved our bow to the left. Not much left to do (i just gave a bit backward thrust to slow the boat a bit more down). There was a boat on the lock landing, happily far enough back leaving enough space for my unintentional "mooring".
Good to hear from you again Phil, yet another great post. May I be so bold as to point out that you are becoming the Nicholson’s guide to narrow boating on UA-cam/y2k, informative & scenic! Congratulations on 4k subscribers
Thank you again for another fabulous video. I love your clear informative narrative. They are calming and relaxing. Hope you are well and keeping positive. Things have a funny way of sorting themselves out. What will be will be.
Nice video Phil, very well made and good commentary, keep your chin up and chating with boaters helps me get through the day, as we both know life on the cut can be very quiet this time of year and maybe lonely for some. I find moaning on my videos helps releave my pressures lol and can be fun at times too :) Best wishes and look forward to your next vid..
Hope you,re in better spirits if only a wee bit it all helps , and I saw that you were going to meet up with the lads from Foxes afloat hope you did , a bit of human contact is good ( but not to much mind 😁 ) another great vlog very relaxing . Take care .
Hi Phil, Just found your channel. I love the mixture of music and chat. I make realtime canal journey videos on the Lancaster canal to music (loving yours btw) but have not ventured into voice-over as yet. I may look at this for our journeys next year, adding some history around the canal. That said, I may well add some voice on the video(s) on the Glasson arm of the Lanky. Subscribed! Ian
That would be good, when your doing your videos you could also maybe tell us some of the canal stories of your time On the water, you must have seen some real funny things over the years, had some good parties on the tow paths in your younger days, your life on the water is a narrowboat book waiting to be written. Like Clint Eastwood the good the bad and the ugly.
Has anybody considered making the overflows more parallel to the canal? Wouldn't that help the boater to prevent hitting the pilings? Have a peaceful and happy Christmas!!
@@NarrowboatJourneys cool. It seems to me like it would be more expensive to keep moving then settle down somewhere. Well, either way. good luck! I enjoy the videos. I will try and send something over for the channel. I know you put a lot of effort in to it.
Hi Phil, just a quick question if you don't mind. I have (possibly rather stupidly) planned to Canoe from LLangollen back to Stoke-on-Trent. Unfortunately, due to work, I've had to postpone it and now have been planning to do it mid-January. Since I canoe a lot of Lochs and rivers, I kind of forgot about the possibility of a canal being frozen in the heart of winter. Can you tell me if it's likely, or maybe pretty certain that the canal wil be frozen, assuming we have a fairly standardly cold winter? If so I'll move it back to early Spring (or pick up some ice skates). Thank you for your videos, great stuff. All the best, Lee
There is a good chance there will be ice. The canal has frozen already on a couple of mornings but only lightly. There is some flow on the Llangollen canal so it may be slightly less likely to freeze over? Depends how cold it gets?
I do like watching your videos for the unhurried journey and the views, especially since you don't feel the need to be in almost constant 'Selfie Mode' unlike some other boat tube channels where things like " look at that lovely view over my shoulder", bad with one person in view and very annoying with 2 people in the frame

Thanks Alan. I quite like winter - apart from the long dark nights, and low battery power etc.
Thanks Phil. A perfect blend of scenery and chit chat! It's good to have the rear facing camera shots to add interest. Love the quintessential summer feeling with the golden hay baled in passing fields.
Thank Tim, I don't always use the second camera but it's handy now and again. It's just a cheap action camera.

You looked like a young gazelle hopping across that first lock Phil. Keep your chin up.
Hello Phil. I hope things turn out well for you and the cats. Don’t let the blues get you. My cats Spanky and Ting-Ting say hello.

Thank you. The long delay does have some advantages.
I think your videos are a great way for me to wind down after such a busy day. Thank you mate.

Once that water gets you there's nothing much you can do. If other boats stop too close to the bywash they'll get bashed.

Thank you for another enjoyable video. They are nice to watch at the end of a busy day, helps you slow down and relax. 😊
Another lovely Vlog, Great to see more of the scenery, cannot wait to do that Canal and your next video :-)
The stretch where the music was playing is a lovely spot to moor up on, I spent a day there on the way back to civilisation
Yes, it's lovely along there as long as you're not too close to that road.
Many thanks Phil, love the gentle crusing and the music. You take care now
10:10 Cor! Retina burns! Retina burns!
The camera can't handle extreme light and shade at the same time.
Thank You Phil, from Oklahoma, saved your Vid for bed time. Very nice!!!

Lovely Phil thank you
Have you always had cats?
Yes, I'm definitely a cat person. I'll do a video about all the cats I have had... one day.

I've seen quite a few things over the years but I'd rather do separate videos for them, unless I happen to be boating over the same spot again.
twin cam boat cool
Has anybody considered making the overflows more parallel to the canal? Wouldn't that help the boater to prevent hitting the pilings? Have a peaceful and happy Christmas!!
That's all it would take to calm them down. I don't know why either? Thank you.
Very good. Is your boat ok now? Are you glad to be out of the middle of England and in the llangollen canal? Thank again
Thank you. The engine is working again but I still have much to do... I'm not on the Llangollen canal any more.
@@NarrowboatJourneys I am happy to hear that. What happens when the journey ends? where are you looking to moor? and settle?
I'm not planning to moor or settle, can't afford to do that (and I do like moving around).
@@NarrowboatJourneys cool. It seems to me like it would be more expensive to keep moving then settle down somewhere. Well, either way. good luck! I enjoy the videos. I will try and send something over for the channel. I know you put a lot of effort in to it.
