Hi Phil, sorry to hear you haven't been feeling too well this year. Yes, maybe best to go somewhere more convenient for you. Get better soon. Lovely vlog and lovely to see the cats again!
Gosh I'm sorry to hear your not feeling the best...Hope you find a better Winter canal for you and your boys! And hope your are comfy for the winter...Growing older isnt easy not for anyone...Ive been winterizing my place too, plastic on the windows. You know how it goes, Winters are harsh here up near Canada..but i love it....Hang in there..!...Always enjoy a new vlog and a listen to your talents...Take care you and your feline crew..All the very best always!!!...🤓😻
Honestly, our winter in Eastern Canada last year was something of a picnic as the temperature didn't really drop below zero. And I hate to say , but if it never gets to -15 again, I 'll be happy
Thanks Phil, always a pleasure. The song back at the winding point, took me back to when I first met you on UA-cam, a journey traveled by many, hopes and dreams. I feel I need a cat. Take care.
Just watching your film Phil one of the best narrow boat channels ive come across so just subscribed and looking forward to watching more 👍 cheers Glyn
So it's goodbye to the Ashbey canal! I think we've enjoyed every mile, bridge, wildlife and mooring spots you've shown us. Not forgetting the haunting music, which is quite superb. Look after yourself and the cats.
Going back a few years now, probably 60 or so but then as youngsters we used to bike to the Ashby canal at stoke golding, dadlington, burton hastings to go fishing .the canal then was gin clear you could stand on the bridges and see big shoals of roach in around the lily pads,to see it now i couldn't imagine much wildlife can live in such dirty water caused no doubt by too much traffic
Poor old Ashby needs a lot of care must cost a kings ransom the upkeep of all canals and the rise in costs of materials alone would be eye watering plus the state of our country finances all adds to the problems. Sorry to hear of your health problems, there are times when we all need to be near other folk and all amenities I know I do, as the king and I are of the same age group, I find my good neighbours are doing more for me. All the best Phil and your two furry boys.
Nice canal plenty of national trust property and it shows. When I lived on the cut many years ago we thought nothing of greasing the lock windings and cutting back overhanging foliage . The BW probably never noticed the input but the waterways worked better. Do we have a less proactive inhabitant of our canals today?
Just curious about what you said concerning not stopping in the same area because the cats were getting too familiar with it. Do they tend to wander further away the more familiar they get with an area? If so, I would be curious if they remember areas they have spent time in before. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
Yes, the longer we stay in one spot the more confident the cats get. They'll stay out longer, roam farther, make little dens to sleep in etc. Mainly in summer. They do remember our stopping places, even after several years.
Welcome aboard! I write the lyrics then use AI to make the songs. The singers aren't real people. Instrumental tracks are composed and recorded by myself, the old fashioned way.

Hi Phil, nice to see (hear) more of your music introduced to your videos....BTW 'The ***** of the Road' made us giggle...Best, Tricia and Neil...
Thanks 👍 I probably won't be using that particular song in a cruising video! 🤣
Hi Phil, I used to like the Ashby canal, what a shame to see it so overgrown. Love the music and songs xx
Thanks Phil. Another relaxing vlog. The canal does look a bit overgrown doesn't it? I hope you health is OK. Cheers
I've Just found your channel, I had to sub, of course! Nice work on the music and it certainly was very fitting!
Thank you very much. Welcome aboard!
@@human6.045 me too this just popped up on my feed so I had to watch🙂
Think I have seen you make a turn in a windinghole before, but that is most likely speeded up like you said. Now a nice and easy turn 😊

Thank you. I've covered the entire Ashby canal before in previous videos. There's a good chance I'll go that way again one day.

It only clears in winter when the boats are less active.

Thanks. I'm not sure if I have home waters anymore? Still traveling slowly...

I used to trim trees... until the CRT's nasty surcharge came into effect. ua-cam.com/video/A5OgWxo6UtY/v-deo.html

I hope the ducks are ok. The water seems real dirty.
Very shallow, so lots of stirred up mud.
Recently went to to Stoke Golding and got to say its not the most inspiring of canals. Even tbe ducks dont like feeding😂
That's not the best bit. Some very pretty places farther up.
That canal looks a right mess and badly neglected IMO
It looks worse every time I go there unfortunately.
